I have a small company that gives loan. If you know the trouble my marketers go through to get the loans back!!
We even gave our debtors 3 months of grace because of the lockdown, but it is still one story or another. We had to seal up some shops with the aid of police men.
Some are even prepared to go borrow elsewhere to clear their loans so that they can apply for a bigger loan. Can you imagine, taking me for a fool.
So my dear, it's not all about money. It's about trust and conviction. And in Nigeria trust is a rare breed.

I gather the new Police Act prohibits this now.

Good morning, please I have few questions;

- Please how much should I budget for student visa (NHS fee inclusive) in naira, this period?
- If I have the money in my account for a month and I use it to process visa, but part of it gets deducted after my visa application before getting the visa, will there be an issue?
- How long does it take to book for tuberculosis test in Nigeria this period? I booked just now, but I didn't get a mail that the registration went through.

Thanks in advance for answering smiley

this dependent visa application issue is driving me nuts. i have completed my partners visa application and paid for the IHS surcharge for four people. I want to do the child dependent visa and i t keeps taking me to the IHS website for payment again. How can i reference the previous payment i have made before. I do not want to pay double for something i already paid for. Does anyone have this same experience and what is the way out.

How were you able to pay for 4 people on one application?
Normally each application has a separate IHS and application fee paid for it.
If you paid for 4 people on the partner application, then contact them for a refund, but you will still have to pay the IHS for the child dependant visa, that is the way the system is structured.

Gudmorning All,
I want to confirm my Passport Expires on April 2021. Can I used it to apply for admission and CAS and Apply for new Passport next year for Visa application...is it advisable

You can use it for admission, not a problem, but since you're applying for a visa next year, you might as well just renew the passport now.

It's November already and passports can be renewed when they have 6 months validity left on them.
And if you're applying for January intake and are successful, without renewing your passport, it will expire on you in the UK and trust me when I say you don't want to go near that lousy place on Northumberland Avenue.

Quite agree, on China, Singapore, and other Asian tigers, the evidence points to higher levels of intelligence and organization which have not been replicated in Africa. We are lower iq scores and expecting same results here is wishful.

So we have a system in which we play the Russian roulette leadership selection (democracy), sometimes we get a bullet (buhari) other times we get lucky

Do you know how many business plans and cash flow projections are dumped daily in the trash bins of bankers? You cannot get a loan from any bank in Nigeria for this type of business without a long term supply/transportation services agreement to supply products (or serious connections in that bank). It is that agreement that separates the small boys from the big boys. God help you in getting the transportation services agreement without meeting the requirements which include owning your trucks and other infrastructure.

Please it is not that easy to get a loan from a bank. If it was, you would have quit your job to go into haulage business full time.

I have to agree with you here.
Nigerian banks are probably the most risk-averse entities on the planet and considering their operating environment one can't really blame them.
Everyone is now going full holding company-mode and expanding to other African countries while Emefiele continues to fool around with CRR debits in the vain hope of driving the "real" economy.

Hello House,

Please do not be vexed if it seems like I'm taking the thread back.

Here's my situation. I have a family friend, a British woman who is in her late 60's who wants to send me an invitation for me to come and spend the holidays with her family. What are my chances of being granted visa?

I'm not a civil servant, I work with a small Tech firm and my salary is modest. I have not travelled out before. Infact I'm on my process of applying for my masters in the UK. I am unmarried. I fear that with these factors, I might be denied Visa. I would not want anything to dent my record especially since I'll be applying for MSc soon. What pieces of advice do you have for me please, and do I stand a chance of being granted visa?

Cc Justwise

Don't bother.
Save your application fee and focus on your MSc application process.

China may not be a developed country yet, but it is a rapidly developing one.

I fully agree that the best form of government is an enlightened benevolent dictatorship, Singapore-style.
But the odds of that successfully happening in most countries are very low. Chavez in Venezuela had the right mindset, but was economically illiterate, Castro in Cuba had the power and the will to get things done, but only achieved success in the social sphere and none in the economic, and so on.

In the absence of a tried and proven template for selecting enlightened benevolent dictators, we default to democracy.

And for clarity, what we have in Nigeria is not democracy, we don't elect our "leaders".

@mimilyrics, please for one presently legally residing outside Nigeria and is eligible to apply for the Tier 4 Visa in the country of residence, can the person combine the bank statement from the bank in the country of residence and the one from the bank in Nigeria and submit as POF both bank statements bear the same name?

I see no reason why that should not be possible, as long as UKVI can verify the funds held in both banks.

My opinion is that the address doesn't matter.
In the past, when the TB thing was newly introduced, they would do an Xray on immigrants/long stay visa holders at Heathrow on arrival. I think the purpose of the address they ask for on your TB cert is for tracing purposes, (I think there's supposed to be a follow-up TB screening at your GP after you arrive the UK), but given that they will of course know what school you end up in, it doesn't really matter what address you use as they can get hold of you when they want if you fail to show up for the follow-up.

However, being on the safe side is always a good thing, so invest that 9k.

Please kindly offer your insights as i am in a similar position too. I have an offer for LLM International Commercial Law at Birmingham City University and Bournemouth University. I'm really confused regarding the best option as i intend to work too while studying.

This particular LLM specialisation is not likely to fetch you much. Truth be told, the market for solicitors and lawyers of all stripes is not really favourable, but if you must do an LL.M, choose a different specialisation. I would suggest areas like financial regulation and compliance, tax law, public procurement law, etc.

Avoid "international" law in all its iterations as well as the "oil and gas" crap.

I will work on the formal custody document, the baby is not upto a year old ,I've been in charge of everything including 2 bedroom apt from my flat ,I just decided to include him because of future purpose ,I hope that will work... Thanks for your input

Except you have a huge amount of money at your disposal, and you lay out a detailed plan for childcare and how you will pay for it in a cover letter, my advice will be to simply mention your baby son as a dependant in your application form, but not to make an application to take him along with you.

Yes Son and I'm in contact with his mum ,just that no plans to settle down yet until after MSC

If you don't have a formal custody document and the mother agrees to your taking him to the UK, then let her set that out in writing in a consent letter.
Your case will be immeasurably strengthened if you can show that you have been caring/ providing for your son all along (think evidence of payment of school fees receipts, medical bills/insurance, things like that).

I’ve not seen anyone in Nigeria who pays up to 50% of their income as tax. Yes... like half of your income. Sounds ridiculous? Well, that’s how much some people pay on just their income in developed countries. You’d rarely find anyone whose TOTAL tax makes up to 10% of what they earn in Nigeria.

Sorry, but Nigerians are heavily undertaxed. And it shows in our balance sheets, even when we compare our total revenues to other African countries, despite oil still shoring it up significantly. Without oil receipts, Nigeria would not even be able to survive. There’s basically no tax revenue. First, there’s the low tax base, and the very few people captured in the tax net pay very low percentages.

Nigerians are definitely undertaxed, but the social contract between the government and the people fell apart long ago, and increased taxation will definitely be met with resistance as long as people perceive their money as going toward funding Aisha Buhari's Neck Pain Adventures to Dubai or buying 2020 Camrys for a bunch of idlers. In other words, the only feasible way the government can seriously raise revenue apart is by putting more people into the tax net with new indirect taxes.

Yes, I am considering Ulaw. Ok noted. What other graduate jobs are available? Some one mentioned social work , but I didn't do anything related to that. Kindly help am kind of confused thanks

Depends on if you intend to return to your home country and what you want to use the LLM for in the UK. You definitely cannot practice law with it in the UK so that might be the basis of the advice against a general LLM. However, there are A LOT of other graduate jobs that you are just as eligible as any other graduate for once you meet the basic requirements.

Is it Ulaw that you're considering?

By ULaw I assume you mean The University of Law?
My advice would be to pay for a brand name - education, like everything else, is a commodity and the University of Law hasn't got a strong brand.

Hi everyone,
Pls, I need your advice. I just finished my Msc in ireland and my husband got an admission at BU in UK and we are considering that since they allow family to move at once.

What are the chances of us getting the visa? And how do I go about applying from Ireland.

Thank you

You're in Ireland and you're asking people in Nigeria how to make an application from Ireland.
Best to check gov.uk site and then TLS Dublin for starters.

Hello people, pls I need advice. I am a lawyer I want to apply for LLM in UK . Someone suggested LLM in Medical /Health Law or LLM in Cyber Law or LLM in Information Technology. He said going for general LLM is not advisable. Any one in the house with information should advice me accordingly. Thank you.

An LL.M is basically a huge roll of the dice, but if you must do one, try Dispute Resolution, IP, etc. The advice about not wasting your time and money on a generalist LL.M is correct. Above all, avoid international law.

Use the passport that you will eventually use for the visa application.

Hi guys
Please if my husband does not intend to work in the UK can we still apply as a family? Or he should go the visitor route?

Secondly,my daughter holds a US passports, should we use that for her or do we apply as all Nigerians, any advantage?

The options are to either apply as a family or you apply alone and your husband and daughter come to visit for limited periods on visitor's visas. This will mean that they cannot reside with you in the UK.

Holding a US passport doesn't confer UK residence rights, so irrespective of which passport your daughter uses, the residency permission granted will be the same.

I have a friend who is a native of Isle of Man, he wants to help me relocate to their country to start work and he's asking me what he needs to send for me to apply with? Kindly help me guys, thank you

You only need a UK visa to cover you for the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, not a separate visa, that much I know.
Use the internet and go to the island's website and get all the information you need there.

My sister, I once read this on UKVI or UKCISA website. Assuming you are correct, that visa refusals don't cause delay, can you please tell us what factors could cause a non-straightforward processing?

I'd like to learn. I also want to apply priority but I have had some refusals in the past and I am skeptical. Others can pls contribute.

Have you seen someone with refusal or previous visa refusals get his/her priority visa in 5 working days??

Advisable not to pay for priority if you've had prior refusals.

Educate us more.. How I weigh my luggages at home ?, second which one is cabin and check in ?

Buy a scale, one of the digital ones which you attach to your luggage and use to lift the bag/box/piece of luggage so it can read the weight. They are generally accurate - Game in Lekki Mall sells a very good one. Allow for a kilo or so to cover any variables in weighing equipment (e.g. if I have a 23kg allowance, I get my bag to weigh in at 22kg max), and try to make sure that each piece of luggage comes under your allowed limit because the airlines are strict about charging for excess baggage these days, they need money.

Secondly, I too am a frequent traveller and have luckily never been extorted or been compelled to "drop", but it can happen to anyone. I used to willingly "drop" 200 at Customs in the bad old days before they brought in the scanner machine and used to search your luggage by hand, when carrying the food our Nigerians crave in London or simply because I disliked people disarranging my carefully stuffed luggage (I used to prefer carrying just one piece of luggage, a big strapped canvas rucksack which I stuff tightly with my clothes, yet another smaller backpack, laptop, etc., and unpacking and repacking that thing on the Customs table na work).

Remember that the agencies at the airport have statutory powers, e.g. Customs is empowered to search your luggage, so is NDLEA and Immigration with those not-so-undercover pseudo-security service guys they have there to check your passport and ask routine questions such as why you're travelling, etc., and in a corrupt country like Nigeria these powers are open to abuse. If they want to extort or delay you or make your life difficult they will. The truth is they generally don't, but they can. Customs might decide to do a body search, Immigration might decide your visa/passport/passport stamp(s) appears fake. Only big men have full rights in Nigeria.
