The Oba is a hopeless bastard and the lazy and dirty people he is ruling are bunch of cowards....Let the Yorubas reclaim Ilorin from Sokoto caliphate before thinking of evicting Igbos from Lagos. As long as we remain one Nigeria, we are in Lagos to stay and there is nothing they can do about it...We have taken some of their federal constituencies as evident during last election and all I have to tell is to keep calm because this is just the beginning...ediotic fools and hopeless cowards.. angry

Politics › Re: Kwara State Was Formally A Yoruba State: What Went Wrong? by CyberWolf: 10:35pm On Apr 10, 2015
The Ilorin Emirate is a traditional state based on the city of Ilorin in Kwara State, Nigeria. It is considered to be one of the Banza Bakwai, or copy-cats of the Hausa Kingdoms.

At the start of the 19th century Ilorin was a border town in the northeast of the Oyo Empire, with a mainly Yoruba population but with many Hausa-Fulani immigrants or slaves. It was the headquarters of an Oyo General, Afonja, who rebelled against the empire and helped bring about its collapse with the assistance of the Fulani.[1] The rebellion was powered by Hausa, Nupe and Bornu Moslem slaves.[2] Afonja had been assisted by Salih Janta, also called Shehu Alimi, a leader of the local Fulani. In 1824 Afonja was assassinated and Alimi's son Abdusalami became Emir.[3] Ilorin became an emirate of the Sokoto Caliphate.[1]

For some time Ilorin was a major center of the slave trade. In the past slaves had mainly been sent north across the Sahara, but now they were being sent south via the Yoruba lands to the coast to supply demand from the USA, the West Indies, and Brazil. Slaves were taken from the Igbo lands to the east and from conquered Yoruba towns, as well as from areas further to the north, and were traded for cloth and other goods. Ilorin continued to expand southward until it was checked in the 1830s by the growing power of Ibadan, an Oyo successor state. The Ilorin cavalry were ineffective in the jungle to the south, and by the 1850s Ibadan had access to guns from European traders on the coast.[1] The capital was occupied by the Royal Niger Company in 1897 and its lands incorporated into the British colony of Northern Nigeria in 1900, although the emirate continued to perform ceremonial functions.[4]

Ilorin was founded by the Yoruba, one of the three largest ethnic groups in Nigeria, in 1450. It became a provincial military headquarters of the ancient Oyo Empire, it later become a Northern Nigeria protectorate when the Shehu Alimi, a descendant of Shehu Usman Dan-Fodio, took control of the city through the spread of Islamic religion. The capital was occupied by the Royal Niger Company in 1897 and its lands incorporated into the British colony of Northern Nigeria in 1900, although the emirate continued to perform ceremonial functions.[2] Although the city retains a strong Islamic influence from the northern incursions, Christianity is now widely practiced by significant portions of other Nigerians originating from other states. Ilorin is the largest city and the official capital of Kwara State.

Everybody saying it was a joke it was a joke..Yorubas are not gullible but plain wicked and evil for believing it was a joke angry...If it's a joke, why did the palace released a statement that evening claiming that Oba did not make such comment? When the audio came out, they said that it was doctored that Oba didn't say such, then the video came out and now they turn around saying it is joke huh
Oba you can deceive your gullible Yoruba subjects but not we the Igbos ..ediot angry

Umahi may likely win; not because of his popularity (which I admit is considerable), but because of his strong backers (Anyim and co). IT will be a mistake to underestimate the popularity of the Edon group which is backed by Elechi. Those in abakaliki may have witnessed how Elechi's supporters virtually shut down the capital early last month in protest over his impeachment threat.

My main concern has been the fear of violence which is very real. Only last two weeks I personally witnessed victims of violence being brought to a mission hospital at Iziogo, which is one of the flash points. E be like I go run comot oooo. . . embarassed
Edon's LP lost in his own local government in the last national assembly election. PDP won everything in the State. Elechi's first son that contested for Senate in LP lost even in his own polling boot. Edon has lost about 70% of his supporters to PDP within Izzi axis which is his major political. I know what I'm talking about because we are from the same LGA. Edon is going no where. Dave Umahi is our next governor.

No debate for this one...this is my beloved state and I categorically say that Dave is the man to beat...Ucha has no electoral value so APC is just like a lying corpse in the morgue ..Edon name is sorry because with the defeat they suffered in last election, their moral is flat like flat plate...As for Anthony Agbo, he is just there to answer present....So Akubaraoha carry goooooooo grin
Politics › Re: Akiolu Not APC Spokesman-tinubu by CyberWolf: 5:27pm On Apr 07, 2015
This response is classic..I've always admired Tinubu since the days of OBJ..He should compel the Oba to tender an undeserved apology before we take him serious because I know that those Igbo kids that are beneficiaries of Lagos scholarship scheme will not be happy with the Oba's statement..#ObaAkioluMustApologize cheesy

Lanretoye:
People should stop being silly, what the Oba of lagos said should not in anyway cause tribal issues. I agree that those words were too much to be said but why are some silly igbo people picking on yorubas as if it was a collective decision among the yorubas. He should be made to bear the consequences as he has said that Lagos is his own...lemme remind you that most of you are tenants in lagos so u need to be careful before you steer tribal conflicts
The King cant be bigger than the village and as far as i am concerned we are all brothers irrespective of our tribes.Vote who so ever you wish and be sure that we your yoruba brothers will definitely stretch our hands for you when you are drowning.
grin grin
funny grin grin..Yorubas are naturally good no doubt just that maybe the was high on Alomo when he made those statements and to think that he tried covering it up before the audio and video version surfaced online made the whole thing so interesting grin...With the way things are going, I think the Oba is working with Agbaje
Because no sensible adult will make such statement in this crucial time...let's eschew violence and embrace peace..one love my Yoruba brothers...You guys are peaceful and loving compared to Gambaris..

Fairgodwin:
What will the apology do or cure? The deed has been done and the damage has already been done, and the fact that he let it drag on for this long would render the apology [almost] useless and meaningless when it is eventually tendered (that is if he would even apologise).
Meanwhile, let's forget all these and move on from here. The Igbos have already decided!! #swimming things activated#, #oya let's go there.
Use the lagoon to prepare for the next olympics; time to defeat Michael Phelps.
