I have called several times but all I have been told is that it is under review. I have mailed several times. In fact, I have had to mail them two days ago and today too. It tells you how anxious I am right now. I just hope they approve it soonest because I can't stop thinking over everything.

You're definitely in thesame shoes with me. I know they'll still give me the usual response, but I still call them with that little hope that something may change. Now its almost a month since I applied for EA. If I don't get an appointment date against Friday, Monday or Tuesday of next week, then my chances of resuming on time is next to zero.

And how's it our fault? We applied on time, paid all necessary fees, followed all necessary procedures but to get disenfranchised. It's frustrating

I think the problem is that the "Nigerian" factor has played into the whole process. I am suspecting there is now a black market for appointment dates. What I still haven't figured out is if they do this stuff via the Embassy/Consulate or there is a third-party in the whole thing. In the end, it is the majority that suffers!

I doubt that there's such. Because when I keep calling them about my EA, they keep telling me the decision is solely Made by th US embassy.

This stuff is really frustrating at this time. I can't even focus on what I'm doing. Weren't they not expecting this kind of surge during fall semester? It's tiring

This will make it almost a month since I applied for EA and yet to get a response. Meanwhile school resumes on the 15th of August.

I'm really in a dilemma right now because I can't even defer. My school doesn't defer graduate admissions.

With this, I stand a strong chance of losing my admission and funding which I went through hell to get.

What will I do?

About selecting the embassy location, It’s ALWAYS ADVISABLE to pick the embassy that you think would aid your visa approval, base on your I20 profile, NOT the one that have possible available interview date to pick.

If the available date you’ve for Fall isn’t favorable, you can easily defer to spring and go for spring interview with the date you have, just make sure you’ve a spring i20. Yes, you must not go for Fall session. Lol.

Considering the bolded, what if ones school doesn't accept deferral of admission and you must resume on a certain date or risk losing the admission and possible assitantship. What do you really advise?

Issues like this are highly idiosyncratic and will frequently depend on the whims of the people scheduling. Sorry it is just a very opaque process. I can mostly help with interview strategy.

Modified: so I just received my I20. In the form, they omitted my tuition waiver. I have informed them for it to be corrected. Can I still proceed with payment of Visa fee and other process while pending the correction of my I20?

Don't go with the mindset that they rarely deny doctors visa. It will make you lackadaisical and nonchalant towards preparation for your interview.

Just prepare accordingly. And pray you are attended to by a VO who believes your story.

Your dad willing to sponsor you? Let him keep the money in his account or send to yours.

I have a deficit of about $25k and I have an uncle willing to sponsor me with about $59k which will cover my deficit.

My dad is also willing to sponsor me with $10k.

Will you advise I just use a SOA of this uncle alone or I should use both that of my uncle and my dad to boost home ties?

Will using more than 2 statment of account be cumbersome or raise red flags? Because I also want to show my personal savings
