I think it's good we learn from people's experiences and be cautious, I spent 6years in a boarding school drinking Garri without complaint, almost on a daily in addition to my meal ration. I didn't notice it's subtle effect.

You are very correct, I experienced all these signs while I was in school. Generally, from mid-semester to examination period things are usually bad for most students. My diet is majorly garri because I won't create time to cook either.. it brought me stomach ulcer and blurred vision at a point, i remember while preparing for exams I couldn't read a page in 2hours due to migraine which I can't expain, to make matters worse I will urinate at least 3 times in a 2hours lecture, I was feeling suicidal and my blood pressure was increasingly high so I decided to visit a doctor, after listening to me, he checked my blood sugar level then he told me that it was normal, and some drugs to lower my blood pressure. I left the doctor regretting not asking him if taking garri at least once in a day could cause me such damage. Today, I no longer include garri in my diet, though i still respect it.

I don't want to disagree with you on this but be wise. I have a friend who wanted to get married but the family rejected the lady, he loved her and want to marry her at all cost so he went ahead and did the marriage without his family's support. We all hailed him that he is a man. Today he is having serious issues in the marriage but he can't come home. Try and communicate with them, make them understand you, there is no genuine love out there greater than that which your parent had for you.
