The South is as guilty as the North and would probably have done same. The best thing for us is to end this unnecessary concentration of power at the centre cos it is the reason for all this tension. Let the six geo-political zones have a representative in the government to diffuse the tension.

Contrary to the falsehood being perpertuated by some Nairalanders now, a lot of us that believe in the Buhari bakare Ticket have always and consistently put our nation first. Most of us on the BB train were the ones who fought, marched , prayed and lobbied for Goodluck to be made president, I will post some threads to spark off some memories, the people who insult us today were nowhere to be found when Jonathan needed him because they did not believe in him, we did. Now that he is in power, he is suddenly the messiah. How short human memory can be.

Thank you Monkeyleg

Aisha, you are spot-on on this. I remember how excited I was about the possibility of a new nigeria under GEJ. While speaking to a Ugandan on a flight from Nairobi to Harare I told him all previous leaders in Nigeria came into power through some form of influence by corrupt pple that do not mean well for the country but that GEJ came into power because the pple fought for it. I thought that this was a good reason why GEJ would do what the pple want and not be influenced by those that had killed everything good in nigeria. Alas! my hope was dashed when he turned against the pple that fought on his side

@Kobojunkie Nope its not in any paper,

@Blazay, I didnt mention any party is being better but you and I know PDP is the worst of them all by the caliber of people in it. You can only talk reform with people who really want it. We can make things happen - its not just a dream. its a possibility
Politics / Reasons Why Nigerians Cannnot Afford A Gej Administration Beyond 2011 by cyriluzo(m): 7:23pm On Dec 16, 2010
GEJ is in PDP: PDP is a set of politically demonized people whose main interest is not Nigerians but their belly. GEJ is already in a camp that has the likes of Dimeji Bankole, a man whose reign as Speaker of the House of Representatives brought nothing but pain to Nigerians by his corrupts practices and approval of illegalities. It also has the likes of David Mark, the current Senate President – a man who will go any length to suppress the voice of reason. The party also has the likes of Atiku – the most corrupt politician in Nigeria I can think of. There are also the likes of OBJ and IBB and lot of other crooks milking the nation dry. It would unthinkable to expect GEJ to raise his head above the influence of these sets of people. If it were possible for that to happen, we would have seen some signs of this in his present reign as President. GEJ in power is going to be PDP in power and its going to be business as usual.

During the crisis brought about by the absence of the late President, a lot of Nigerians like myself were excited and hopeful that the possible emergence of GEJ as president would usher in a new era in Nigeria’s history where good governance and accountable leadership would be the norm. We felt his was humble, free from corruption charges and in some way God sent. When he came into power and said he was going to tackle the issue of power supply. We felt if this man can do this, then he would have endeared himself to the heart of Nigerians and I really thought he would. But the whole thing is fast becoming a failure.
At the onset of OBJ’s reign as democratically elected President most of us thought we were finally going to have a steady power supply. We saw or heard of actions, we heard of monies, policies and projects being approved to guarantee steady power supply, but in the end it was all a show. The monies went to private accounts and we are all witness to the revelations that came from the power probe panel after the OBJ’s administration.

Then here comes the GEJ administration. At the onset, we all saw improvements in power supply. We saw actions in the form of policies and projects but before long the power supply returned to what we use to know, if not worst. Now it’s all motions and promises with no visible result. Did I hear someone say “It’s barely a year, let’s give him more time”. Well let me tell you why giving GEJ 100 more years won’t make any difference. The generator merchants are PDP secrete cronies and sponsors, and as long as PDP is in power, Nigerians will not see steady power supply. Little wonder Dimeji Bankole was alleged to have said that the generator industry is a multi-billion dollar industry that needs to be protected, and based on that rejected the roadmap for power sector reforms , and with the excuse that it did not have the input of the House of representatives – a PDP enclave bent on destroying our collective destiny.

The possible emergence of GEJ as president in 2011 would be the eventual result of negotiations between the people who claim to represent Nigerians in either the south-south and the North or the South as a whole and the North. It’s the same type of negotiation that brought OBJ into Power in 1999.  Not that these negotiations are wrong in themselves but the purpose and the way these negotiations are going to be carried out would be at the detriment of Nigerians. A glimpse into the type of negotiation am talking about is the type the Ciroma’s led NLPF came up with when they decided on Atiku as the consensus candidate for the north. The essentially divided the key positions among themselves with no considerations to what Nigerians think or would want.
The outcome of these kind of negotiations will surely be looted funds and GEJ will not be able to question or query corrupt practices because there was an agreement. He has to therefore turn blind eye to corrupt individuals like he is already doing.

Nigerians would need to look elsewhere for a credible and a trusted leader. We need someone with no alliance to the current political order. We would need to throw the sentiments of religion and affinity to region, tribe and state away if we are to find that leader and make progress as a nation. Our destiny is in our hands. We can either make it possible in 2011 with our votes or forever forget it. One thing GEJ has done right is giving us Jega, and this is an opportunity for us to break free. It is an opportunity for us to salvage our future, get quality education, bring back industries, create employment, stop embezzlement of public funds in the name of allowances, bring back respect for human rights, stop capital flight in the name of foreign trips and medical checkup etc.  OUR TIME IS NOW

I think am concerned about this part of the news

[b]Sources said Prof.  Jega, who is the elder brother of Daily Trust editor Mahmud Jega,[\b] is a one-time consultant for INEC.

I hope its not this same Daily Trust that is always out with its one sided reporting based on religion and region. cos this might just point the thinking pattern of Prof Jega.

see as this mumu poster and his fellow brethren in daftness dey alow make women dey puor saliva for men body!

what is your problem? u wanna be a virgin, fine but what makes you think i have to be and accept your outlook?

most of these mofos are either impotent, bad at s*x when they tried it, or simply cant pick up the courage to ask a woman for intimacy/toast.

it then becomes easy to be a 'virgin" or Gay. these days the difference isnt clear.

respect other people's outlook. besides as the babes said, why pick on the girls? the guys didnt partake in the intimacy? so why are guys giving up their virginity to all manner of girls? isnt that cheap too?

bandwagon effect, "lets be in the 'good book' kind of attitude".

Rightly said really, its not only a woman thing - the poster needs to modify the thread so as to make it seem one sided. Males also cheapen themselves aswell

However, No one is making anyone here feel bad about themselves. If you do feel bad about yourself, then its time to look inwards. Like I said earlier no one here is a saint - including the poster. We all have our struggles and it takes more than ur own ability to resist doing what your body really wants to do. We fall down, we dont just lie there, we get up with a determination not to fall again

Lets Wait and see what happens. The man is at least supposed to write a letter to the National Assembly that he is back to the country before he can take-over power(That was part of the resolution that brought Jonathan in as Acting President) and after that he is expected to address Nigerians on a national television and also apologise to us for the trouble he and his kitchen cabinet have caused us. I bet non of this will happen. If they snicked him in the way they did it implies the man is either dead or he is not in good shape and hopefully he hopes to be runing Nigeria away from public view.

The question is , will Nigerians accept this?, Enough is Enough

Fellow Nigerians, rescuing Nigeria is not simply a choice but the only choice we must make as Nigerians and friends of Nigeria if this largest black nation on earth will not sink under the yoke of ignorance, waste, corruption, and poverty.

DID YOU KNOW…

1. that over N6.5 trillion was spent to pay salaries and allowances of Nigeria’s 18,000 [s]elected public officials between 1999 and 2009 while Nigerian workers receive peanuts as salaries?

2. that about half of Nigeria’s annual revenue is spent to maintain the lifestyle of Nigeria’s 18,000 [s]elected public officials while national minimum wage remains at N7, 500?

3. that in section 16 (2) (d) of Nigeria’s Constitution it is stated as follows: “The state shall direct its policy towards ensuring that suitable and adequate shelter, suitable and adequate food, reasonable national minimum living wage, old age care and pensions, and unemployment, sick benefits and welfare of the disabled are provided for all citizens”?

4. that because of the outrageous salaries and allowances paid Nigeria’s public officials and their corrupt lifestyle Nigerians have been deprived of the benefits accorded them by section 16 (2)(d) of the Constitution?

5. that the 150 million Nigerians, of whom you are an important member, are expected by the fortunate 18,000 officials to do nothing about this?

6. that our public schools will continue to deteriorate if you do nothing?

7. that the children of the 18,000 officials don’t attend the public schools you or your children attend?

8. that the children of the 18,000 officials shall come back to rule over your less and under educated children if you do nothing?

9. that graduates of public schools stand little chance of getting good jobs in Nigeria compared to those of better funded private schools both within and outside Nigeria which neither you nor your children can afford except family members of the 18,000 officials?

10. that Nigeria’s bad roads, poor electricity, collapsed health system, neglected agriculture and industrial sectors like her public education will not improve if you do nothing?

11. that “vision 2020” shall go the way of “vision 2000” and “vision 2010” if you do nothing?

12. that those [s]elected public officials who may have employed you as a thug send their children to expensive private schools both within and outside Nigeria, and your children shall become thugs to their children in the future should you do nothing?

13. that in section 17 (2) (d) it is stated that: “In furtherance of the state social order, exploitation of human or natural resources in any form whatsoever for reasons other than the good of the community shall be prevented”, yet the government of Nigeria has allowed oil companies to destroy our environment, destroy our water resources and thus the livelihood of many Nigerians?

14. that Nigeria’s Constitution requires in section 17 (3) (d) that: “The state shall direct its policy towards ensuring that there are adequate medical and health facilities for all persons”, yet even our public officials have to seek health care overseas at great national cost?

15. that the option of doing nothing is too costly and not a good option for you to even consider?

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

1. Make a copy or copies of this message according to your ability and give to other Nigerians and friends of Nigeria.

2. Get copies of this message and help distribute at mosques, churches, market places, and at other public places, and also through e-mails to Nigerians and friends of Nigeria.

3. Organize Nigerian students in schools, colleges, and Universities to form Nigeria Rally Movements which will be an ally of the Nigerian Revolutionary Movement.

4. Arrange and invite us to give talks to those groups you have helped form.

5. Study and discuss in groups the second chapter of the Nigerian Constitution entitled, FUNDAMENTAL OBJECTIVES AND DIRECTIVE PRINCIPLES OF STATE POLICY.

6. Write, sign, and send letters of protest to the National Assembly, State Assemblies, the President, Governors, Local government Chairmen, Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission demanding urgent constitutional (including appropriate review of section 84 (3) and section 124 (3) of Nigeria’s Constitution) downward review of salaries of Nigeria’s public officials.

7. Demand for a constitutional requirement of at most 13 federal Ministers and at most 8 state Commissioners, respectively and pegging of Advisers at both national and state levels to the number of federal Ministers and Commissioners, accordingly in order to free resources for investment in the people and avoidance of unnecessary duplication of responsibilities.

8. Organize peaceful processions at public places such as Aso Rock, National and State Assemblies, Local government council offices, offices of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, and at offices of popular contractors in Nigeria who collaborate with government officials to loot our commonwealth through inflated contract sums, and yet do poor jobs or at worst abandon the project without any consequences.

9. Refuse to give up even if you don’t see immediate results.

10. Refuse to quit even if you encounter persecution, whether from government or neighbors.

The desired change we seek can only happen through organized revolutionary action.

But for too long, Nigeria’s rulers have urged us to “pray” while they prey on the hapless masses. Yes, we believe in divine intervention; but faith without works is dead. God has always worked with and through men and women who match their faith with necessary action.

God will pull down our walls of Jericho, but He MUST have us as concerned Nigerians walk round them 13 times.

Are we ready for the WALK-LONG WALK TO FREEDOM?

Join hands with us as we carry the fight for freedom to Aso Rock, Enough is Enough!!

Long Live The Federal Republic Of Nigeria !!!

Do you know what that means?, it means brutality is now legal. For God's sake what does JUSTICE mean to you and FG?

we are in this mess because of Injustice to the Niger Delta area but we can't continue in Injustice. The FG needs to rectify this Injustice, not by paying 65k to criminals but by investing heavily to the region it has abused and neglected.

Isn't respect for law and order part of the rehabilitation process.

I've been skeptical about these whole amnesty thing.

Culture / Re: Why do Nigerian Women Bear Their Father's Name, After Marriage? by cyriluzo(m): 10:04am On Nov 18, 2009
PLEASE READ

I feel most people are really not ready for marriage at the time they do. Some just get married because the society sort of requires that of them. Marriage is not a contract but a covenant. If yours is a contract, then you can go the way you think it should go without regards to what your partner and God feels about it. If however you know its a covenant, then you'll understand its not just about you but about You, your partner and God.

When a man and a woman exchange marriage vows and are joined, they become one flesh. The lady is not one flesh with her father, her mother or any of her siblings. She becomes one flesh only with her husband, and same also applies to the man. If any lady or man is not ready to let go of where he or she is coming from, then that person is not ready for a GOOD MARRIAGE relationship.

There are things we do and decisions we take that we do not know lays foundation for a shaky family. I really pity those who use celebrities as a reference point on this issue, except if you want your marriage to be like theirs.

A lady I feel should continue bearing her father's name along with her husband's name only and only if they both agree with it and both are convincingly comfortable with it.

For a lady to say "how can I stop bearing my father's name because am married" or "my father trained me , sent me to school and all that how can i just stop bearing his name" is wrong and is a wrong perceptive to view her marriage. You'll probably stayed with your father for 30yrs and if you want to leave till 80yrs, you are supposed to have spent 50yrs with your husband(that assuming non dies before then). But even if you stay 2yrs with your husband and you are happy in your marriage am sure it's worth more than the 10yrs you've spent in your father's house.
