--continuation-- Without thinking twice, immediately Mark had made Tina comfortable on the passenger sit, he sat behind the wheel and for the first three minutes, he had problem navigating th car into reverse. He just didn't understand the navigation of the car he was in. But after series of guesses, he pulled the car into reverse, drove out of Idris compound and left the developing estate. But his problem came when he got to the junction and he was confused as to which way he should go, because he had no idea of the road they had plied when coming. Everything just looked confusing as sweat covered his body, not because he couldn't drive any further, but because his phone choosed that moment to ring. And the new number he uses now is only opened to three people, his mother, his wife and boss at work in America. "Hello darling." He greeted immediately he picked up the call. "Mark... Thank God." She muttered at the end of the line. He kept quiet and searched for the right words to use to his advantage, but found none. "Is this what you told me before you left home?" She asked. "Baby, you can't understand. You need to see the stress I am going through here just to settle down. The food, the weather, name it." He replied. "Don't tell me things that'll make me cry. If you know you can not adapt, why not return to America where you know I need you. Baby, I am pregnant for crying out loud and for almost five days now, you haven't called me." She cried. "I know I am a jerk for not calling you, but believe me, it hasn't been easy here for me as well. Right now I am in a big problem." He searched for words with little efforts and found them. "Oh my God! What's the problem? Are you okay?" She asked agitatedly. He smiled, afterall, he had achieved what he wants to achieve and therfore, he could relax a bit. "I am driving, but the road got me confused and I can't do anything further." He explained. "Oh my God! Are you nuts? Driving in a country that you barely know?" She screamed. "Mum.." He heard her scream at the other end. He knew she was calling his mother probably to report him. "I am not actually supposed to drive, but my partner is currently emotionally unstable and therefore I need to help her." He explained. "She?.... Okay. Just be careful okay?" "I will ma'am. And if I am still her until the summer vacation, I will spend a week or two in America." He replied. "You must be kidding me. You probably would have arrested those terrorist before summer so you can return to your lovely wife cos I have missed you." She replied. "And what if the terrorists proved a hard nut to crack?" "Don't doubt your ability sweetheart. You are the best in America and one of the best agents in the world, you will end this within a few weeks, I believe. But if you left your job undone and you are chasing shadows and your assignments stretches until the summer, then I pray that the Nigerian government terminate your appointment and deport you back to me." She replied and they both bursted into laughter. "Alright dear, say hi to my baby girl." He said. "Okay, but how sure are you that I will end up giving you a girl? What if I change my mind?" She asked. "I already decided a long time ago. Remember, I put it there." After talking to her for another five minutes in which she did most of the talking, he ended the call and became conscious of his environment. A weak smile from Tina told him she listened to his conversation, but he didn't care anyways. And Tina came to his rescue by agreeing to drive them both back to work, even though he made sure she stopped at a pharmacy to get drugs for her. ------------------------------------------ Jimmy doing the assignment given to him by Daniel walked out of his house after his shock meeting with Tina. She was the least person he expected to see, but what could she be looking for in the house of his snobbish neighbour. He stood at the school gate discussing with the security men about the state of the nation when he heard the announcement that students can now go home. He braced himself up as he saw students swim out in mass as they filed at the parking lot to board the school bus while the others entered their parent's car. Many others walked towards the gate, it seemed those ones would be finding their ways on their own. Then he sighted the twelve year old boy a few steps away from the gate. "Chris, aren't you going home with the school bus?" A girl, probably his classmate asked. "I am, but I want to safely put you on a bus home." He replied and the girl blushed. Jimmy smiled, afterall, he took after his father when it comes to good looks and how to handle the woment folk. "Are you Christopher?" Jimmy asked. "Yeah." "Can I have a few minutes?" Chris thought for a second, looked at the security men for approval. "Yea sure." He led him out of the school compound. -tbc |

shankies215:To speak the truth, you'll make a good detective. Sharp sharp, connection don dey like sey na WiFi. Well anything is possible in situations like this. But speaking from a reader's point of view, I think the major suspect remains Tina even though nobody is taking her for it, plus Idris was murdered inside N.A.T.U building despite the high security, what does that tell you? |

__________________________________________ Taking time to study the philosopy behind the existense of heaven, earth and the things that dwell in them, one would realise that everything created by God is in pairs. While the created heaven, he created earth and both places are dweliing places. While he created the animals on air, he created the ones on land, while he created man, he added the woman to make the equation complete, an act that brought about pocreation and reproduction. While he created the good, he created the bad, while he created the saviour of the world, at a point, one of his creations became the agent of destruction. And it is in nature for man at a point to keep making efforts and in the end, have nothing to show for it, while some set of people put little or no efforts at all and in the end, things tends to work their way. But as nature is no respecter of anybody, a day or time will come when the always successful man will hit his low and fail, while the man who has never tasted success will at a point make it big and looking back, he will feel like he had never suffered in his life. Serena tried to cast her mind back to the time everything was rosy between her parents and happiness runing through the family. She realised that there was never a time to pick because her present predicament seemed to have beclouded her sense of reasoning. And just like a popular writer, J K Rowling once said in one of her books, "these creatures are out to suck out the happiness in ones life and the only way to foil their attempt is to think of sad moments in your life." And nature sometimes plays trick on us, because at the time when one tries to think of sad moments, happy moments keep springing up, thereby empowering the creatures. Serena after her father had walked out on her three days ago, she has been unable to face him. She had skipped meals and eaten in the comfort of her room. Skipped going to church by either going on her own or going to any of the branches nearby. She remembered the last conversation she had with Davies, how he had adviced her like the big brother he was and she could not help but agree with everything he said. The doorbell rang bringing her out of her reverie, as she stood up and walked towards the frontdoor to meet Jake who had already forfeited his flight schedule all in the name of love. "Hi." He said. She ignored him and let him into the house. Her heart pumped faster, being her first time of inviting a boy home without Stephanie beside her. "Thanks for allowing me to come. At least I will be able to explain myself. "Shhhh." You don't need that. Am cool with you." She replied and could see his eyes lit up in happiness. "But I still don't see sense in why you have refused to return to school." "There is enough sense in it. I am working on my transfer already." He replied. "And you had no problem convincing dad and mum?" she asked. "Dad was okay with it, afterall, he was never in support of my living alone in the states, but mum, she took me to three churches, before she was sure that I am not possessed." He replied with a short laugh and Serena could not help but smile too. "Sorry don't mind my manners. What do I offer you?" She asked. "Your heart and the love that comes with it." He replied. She looked at him like he was acting or playing a prank, but the serious and expectant look on his face told her all she needed to know. That was when she realised that she wasn't ready to discuss things with him before she allowed him to visit. Now, she couldn't decline his request and also couldn't accept it. "Fine, I'll just get you a pack of fruit juice." She said as she walked into the kitchen where she had to sit down to think. "Are you okay?" He asked five minutes later when she hadn't returned. "Yeah. Am fine." she replied as she got up on her feet and approached the fridge, but he prevented her from doing so. "Baby, what's going to happen to us, now that I have decided to stay?" He asked. "I don't know o." She replied. "Are you saying despite all my pleading, you still find it hard to forgive me? Even if nothing happens between us." "You can't understand." "Really? Don't try me, because I understand more than you do. But to die while struggling is not in my gene. I stabbed my pride and pleaded to you or do you think I can beg just any girl? That shows how special you are, but its all good. And I will just leave." Is this boy loosing it? What did I say that warrants this?" She asked herself as she ran after him, with one thing in mind, hug him and tell him she was joking. "Jake, please wait." She called as she got out of the house, only to see her father discussing with Jake like they were familiar with each other. One burning look from her father influenced her reasoning, as she turned back. Into the house she went. --to be continued-- |

Hey guys, sorry I won't be updating tonight. I have typed the update halfway already, but I just can't continue. Check this thread before 7:30am tomorrow and you'll get to read something. |
--continuation-- The silence that had taken over inside the car was one that could make a deaf and dumb man voice out in frustration, plus the tension between the two occcupants of the car was not helping matters. Tina could still see the marks left behind by her palms when she slapped him a few hours ago, even though she concluded that her eyes was probably decieving her so she could have something to laugh about. And despite the fact that she had forgiven him for infringing her privacy, she was ready to apologise for the assault and she remembered aplologising when he just entered the car and just as if he knew she was going to say something, he choosed that moment to shut the door real hard and loud that, she had to keep quiet. "Am sorry for the other time. I didn't mean to..." She was saying. "Hey! You are behind the wheel." He cut her short before turning his gaze outside the car, as he admired the city of Lagos state. Tina swallowed in embarrassment as she concentrated harder on the road, but the silence was gradually returning to rule the car, therefore she felt it was best is she switched on the radio. "I hate the sound of it." He muttered with the side of his mouth and immediately, she switched off the radio. ------ Fifteen minutes later, she pulled up in front of the apartment described to her as the late Idriss apartment. The house was a small bungalow which stood in between two magnificient duplexes. Two minutes later, they were urshered into the house by Idris' widow who intensified her cries the moment she sighted Tina, because she remembered her from their wedding five months ago, where Tina proved to be a helper. "Crying will not help the situation. You just have to calm down and look up to God so he can see you through this trying period till you deliver your baby." Tina adviced the young lady as she hugged her, while Mark had already taken a seat in the averagely furnished living room and was discussing with a young man whom Tina concluded to be Idris' brother because of the striking resemblance. "He doesn't really talk much to me about his job or whatever investigation he is handling, because according to him, he wants me to be safe always." The pregnant lady said few minutes later when they had settled down. "Does that mean, even his calls, his phone conversations, you can't tell us the ones he had yesterday or this morning before leaving for work? Even in the days before, did he for once screamed at anyone on phone or spoken silently with someone?" Tina asked holding the lady's hand tightly. "His brother can bear me witness here. He doesn't make phone calls much, I can categorically tell you that in the last five days, I never saw him making a call. As a matter of fact, I don't know the kind of phone he uses." The lady explained and she couldn't help but smile at her last sentence, after which tears started rolling down her cheeks afresh, something Tina was quick to help her clean with a tissue which she saw on the centre table. Five minutes later, it seemed like the lady won't be able to continue talking to them, she decided that its time they left. Afterall, she wasn't in support of the idea to visit Idris widow hours after the death of her husband. But since Mark the Americana was involved, they must investigate like Americans, as if those who will be granting them audience are Americans. "I can see you are not in the right frame of mind, therefore, we will come back some other time. But mark my words, anybody behind your husband's death won't go unpunished." Tina said as she hugged the crying lady. "Uncle, please try and console her some more. You are all she's got left, at least for now until her family members arrive and likewise yours." Tina adviced Idris younger brother as he walked them towards the front door. "Thanks for showing up really." He said when he was ready to go back. "Yeah, its good talking to you. Mark, CIA America." Mark introduced himself once again as he shook hands with him much to Tina's anger. Must he always mention AMERICA? "Excuse me please." A rich baritone voice called fron the balcony of the duplex on the left side of Idris bungalow and less than a minute later, the gate opened and a young man came out. His appearance alone intimidated Mark at first, but remembering CIA and America boosted his ego. "Can I talk to you for a minute?" He said referring to Tina who immediately lost her balance at the sight of the man, her car key dropped to the ground and she had to hold the car frame for support. Mark rushed over to her side just in time, to hold her so she won't fall, while the young man moved closer to lend a helping hand. "Will you stay away from her? Can't you see that she is not comfortable having you around here?" Mark screamed at the young man who quickly backed off immediately he saw his ID card and badge bearing THE CIA. If Jimmy could show up at this stage, then Daniel is close. |
Sorry guys, my 7pm was was not 7pm afterall. You know that moment when you have your phone in your hand by 6:27pm ready to start typing, but you made a mistake by opening a new tab on your browser to quickly check something and by the time you are done, 8pm don nack. That was what happened. And that's why I have decided to drop one more update before we sleep. Shebarh: I agree with you. |
--continuation-- Tina was still deep in thoughts when her boss, Collins walked into her office twenty minutes before the normal lunch breat at 1:30pm. "Hey Tina." He said as he walked in without knocking on the door and sat comfortably on one of the two chairs placed in front of her table. Even though she hated him at first, when he first got posted from the FBI to head N.A.T.U on an interim basis to complete his three months course in administration as a level 6 clearance agent. In his first week, he took so much interest in her and a minute will not pass without him telling her how beautiful she is how he wished he could spend the rest of his life with her. But as the yorubas will say; "the problem you are coming with is a kid compared to what you met on ground." While Collins at the time was blinded by lust ans desperation to take Tina to bed, Tina on her own was trying franctically to give the best to her son and manage her career with her family life. He kept on hitting on her, and after a month, when he realised that she wasn't interested, he in a bid to spite her, upped his game and took interest in other female agents in the Agency. Even though she was one of the five female agents who worked on the field as at then, over fifteen ladies worked in the ICT department while about ten ladies worked at the medical department and also the cleaners were not left out. But Tina didn't care, as long as he left her alone, she was okay. Even though in the end, his numerous flings brought about efficiency on the part of the ladies, such that call intercepts, encryption of codes and other assignments were completed within minutes in a bid to impress their boss and these in a way improved Tina's status, because she didn't have to wait for two day to know where a criminal's last call was made and to whom it was made and at the end of the three months, she had grown to like Collins, afterall, the efficiency he brought with himself got her the clearance level upgrade that made her the highest paid field operative. And much to everybody's delight, Collins was retained as the director and the former director was posted to work in the defence ministry. "I have gone over the tape you sent to my office and thanks to my analyst, we concluded that Idriss was murdered because he knew something which he was planning to tell you." "So, what are you insinuating?" She asked. "All I am trying to say now is that, Mark has suggested that you two go over to Idriss' apartment on the Island and do a bit of investigation, while our forensic team here will do everything possible to get body prints of whoever was responsible for this act." He explained. "Which means...?" "It doesn't mean anything. Do everything humanly possible to find the person behind this attack. Okay?" Tina nodded her head as she braced herself up for a journey alone with Mark, her nightmare. ------------------------------------------ Jimmy walked into Daniel's office with his briefcase in hand and his suit hung accross his back, held in place by his left hand. "Oh! You are set?" Daniel said, more of a statement than a question. "Of course I am." Jimmy replied. "Good." Daniel said as he counted naira note out out his drawer and handed it to his friend, and also a printed paper. "Gate pass? I don't really need this." He said as he dropped the paper on his the table. Afterall, he is a boss in his own capacity too. To be the head of the finance departement is not a small feat. "You need a gate pass man. Even I myself will sign one for myself in case I have to leave before the closing time. Daddy is in office." He explained as he pointed out laughing. He couldn't imagine himself seeking permission to be allowed to go out when he is also the one to approve such permissions. 'Daddy' in this context means, Daniel's father-in-law, the owner of the firm. "Are you sure the boy schools on the Island?" Daniel found himself asking again. "I am very sure. As a matter of fact, while I was searching for his picture and that of his mum..." He kept quiet as he saw the look on his friend's face. The word 'mum' has really become something he dreaded hearing. "The moment I saw his picture dressed in a school uniform, I saw him alight from the school bus and raced back into the school, probably to pick something." Jimmy went on. A smile played accross Daniel's face at the mention of his son racing back into the school. He afterall must be atheletic and agile. He just can't wait to have him under his roof, mothered by Adeola. "Just stick to the plan, okay? Talk to the boy for a few minutes and don't forget the package. Make sure you give it to him." Daniel reminded. "Talk to you when I am done." He grabbed his briefcase, shook hands with his joyous friend and walked out of the office. --to be continued-- |

Olanireti:She is a detective and a good one at that. But the reason behind her keeping personal stuffs in office would be revealed in due time. Moreso, there is a key it the keyhole of the drawer, which means the drawer was probably locked or something, and sighting the key made Mark open the drawer. And considering the fact that she had been using the office for a while(even if we don't know) no one had ever entered the office without her being present. Mark just took it too far. But like I said, you'll know why her diary is in her office. Thanks for staying me. |

--continuation-- Tina walked into her office and saw Mark seated on her chair as he has always done right from the first day he resumes. Even though she had become accustomed to his behaviours, she couldn't help but get angry at times. But she always did a good job at hiding it, because showing your anger and displeasure at Mark is synonymous to hitting one's head on a rock. But today, Mark was not just sitting on her chair, he was really going through her things. It is an act she learnt while she worked as a secretary in a law firm shortly after she gave birth to Christopher in a bid to make ends meet after everyone deserted her. She learnt not to keep anything private on her table, therefore, most her her personal things are locked up in the drawer attached to her table. And as she moved closer, she saw what he was looking at. It was a picture of herself and her son when she just had him, then she looked sad, but covered it with a smile, there were eleven other pictures in there and in every picture, there is a difference in look. She had made it a point of duty to take pictures with her son on every birthday of his and since he was twelve years, that explains why there are twelve pictures in the first envelope. "Is this your son?" He asked when he noticed her presence. She nodded her head and stood in front of him. "You look very young when you had him. Lets say sixteen." He said and bursted into laughter as he returned the pictures. He picked another envelope and brought out the pictures in them. The he started asking questions like; 'your dad' your mum' all to which she gave answers to. "Who is this?" He asked as he held up a picture which has been battered and on the back was written, 'BAST;ARD' in red ink. "Wait let me guess. Your husband?" He asked and faced her. "No, that's impossible. You couldn't have written bast;ard behind his picture." He replied himself. She opened her mouth to speak, but no word came out. She concluded that she needed medical and spiritual help, because she couldn't understand while the strong willed Christina will suddenly turn to a weakling in the presence of Mark. "Do you care to tell me about him?" He asked. "No way." She snapped. "Easy ma'am. Just tell me about the man in the picture." "I said I am not telling you. Its personal." She replied. Mark shrugged as he dropped the pictures on the table and rummaged through her drawer once again, this time he came out with a diary which was titled 'LIFE.' "Mark." She called. He looked at her in the eye. "Please don't open it." She pleaded. "Why?" "Its my diary and it is meant to be personal." She replied as she took a step forward. "But you left it in your drawer and you drawer was not locked when I came in. Which means, you are carefree about it and the price to pay for that is me going through it." He replied. "This is my office. I can decide to leave door open, its none of your business. And you going through my stuffs in a infringement on my privacy." "Well, you can say that again." He said as he opened the first page and written in cursive was the phrase; I AM SIXTEEN TODAY with sixteen passport photographs glued around the phrase. "so, you began keeping a diary at sixteen? You must have had a very eventful teenage life. I started mine at twenty two." He replied. She wanted to go an snatch the diary from him, but an unseen force held her in place. She was boiling as he opened the first page which also had a picture she took in her school uniform glued to the page. "Fell in love at sixteen? That's gross." He exclaimed as he went through the pages one after the other. Tears started rolling down her cheeks the moment she saw him open the page where a picture of the University of Lagos' symbol was glued. She knew it won't be long before he got to meet Adeola and Daniel. She dreaded him reading how she got pregnant at the start of her third year in school which made her drop out. An unseen but greater force pushed her forward and before she could snatch the diary from him, he had taken the away from her reach and a smiled appeared on his face. She did the unexpected as she landed a hot slap on his cheeks and collected the diary from him. "Get out of my office." She screamed at him. He calmly stood up, the smile still on his face, but deep inside his eyes, the looks could kill. He walked out of her office, after which she locked the door behind him. "Oh God." She muttered as she slumped on her chair, returned her stuffs into the drawer, locked it with a key and attached the key to her bunch of keys. "There is no point feeling bad. He deserved what he got." A voice said in her subconscious and she couldn't help but agree with him/her(The voice) --to be continued-- |
Here is a rundown of the characters in the story so far; |
--continuation-- Tina held the railings on the wall for support as she shut her eyes very hard as she tried to push the gory sight before her to the back of her mind. "What's going on?" Mark's voice boomed from the corner a minute later. She squirmed as she awaited his arrival expectantly. "Jeez!" He exclaimed stopping in his tracks. "What did you do to him?" He asked. And that was it, she had made a grievous mistake by standing for more than a second with Idriss' dead body rather than call for medical help. "How do you mean?" She asked. "Call for help." He ordered. She kept her cool and put a call through to the security and the medical team. Less than a minute later, the remains of Agent Idriss was moved and the whole building was thrown into mourning as on one could pin point who could have killed Idriss inside the building despite the tight security. Certainly, an outsider couldn't have killed him, but an insider. An emergency meeting was called involving all security heads and much to Tina's disgust, Mark tagged along with her, claiming they are both the head of the field operatives. Afterall, he was from America. Listening to him talk about America made her sick most of the time. "Miss Tina, are you saying Agent Idriss spoke to you last before you found his body?" The internal security head asked. "Yes sir. As a matter of fact I told him to wait for me in the office so we could talk. And by the time I was done with Agent Mark, Idriss dead body was what greeted me." She explained. "I have a feeling the young man was attacked by somebody from the inside." Mark added without invitation and everyone turned to face him. "Agent Mark, are you saying...?" The Director of the agency, Collins asked. "I am not saying. I am telling you as a matter of fact that this young man was attacked one of our colleagues here. With the clearance proceedures I go through everyday with the security, not just anybody can access this place." He explained as he exchanged looks with Tina who quickly looked away. He smiled lightly. "I have ultimate confidence and trust in my men. None of them could try such." Collins replied. "This is Nigeria man. Even if America, there must be a mole in every security agency. The meeting was dissolved after they had reached the conclusion that Idriss was probably murdered by one of his colleagues after which Tina was assigned to work on the case as expected. --------- The feeling of loosing a colleague still hasn't weared off on most of the workers as everybody wore a sober look and work slowly without the time to crack jokes or play pranks. Tina descended the stairs from her office floor and walked towards a computer station where two ladies were discussing. One was seated behind her desk, while the other rode her chair away from her table and sat beside someone else. They were talking silently and the moment Tina stopped in front of them, they quit talking. "Will you send the file to my system?" The visitng girl asked as she pushed her chair as she sat back to her table. "Sure, I will." The lady replied and faced Tina with guilt written all over her face. "You are yet to forward the footage in the hallway. Why is that?" Tina asked the lady. "Sorry ma. I was actually about coming to your office when you arrived." The lady replied. "So, anything?" Tina asked. "Am afraid, whoever carried out the inhumane attack had it all well planned." The lady replied. "Meaning?" "The camera actually stopped recording visually three days ago. So, all I could get today is the voice recording." She explained as she handed a piece of enhancement to her and she placed it on her ear. She heard nothing except a fling of a metal in the air, which probably hit Idriss on the head moment's later, Tina's scream came on. The only audible voice in the clip was Mark's, which was only when he asked to know what Tina had done to the man on the floor. "I'll work on this." Tina said as she picked the device on which voices were recorded. "Please do. I can't wait to know who killed Idriss." The lady replied giving Tina a I-know-you-did-it look. Tina ignored her and made her way back to her office, but one thing she noticed was that, as she passed one table or the other, people stopped working and tried to look at her, while the brave ones pointed at her. The reason behind these she couldn't lay her hands on. --to be continued-- |

princesa:Aunty Princesa, haba! The fact that no one has voted doesn't mean people won't vote na. The problem is actually with the section, the traffic and the number of viewers have reduced drastically. The reason behind that I don't know. Plus the fact that readers have preferences, they have the writers they follow and since their favourite writers aren't writing any story for now, they won't bother casting their bote. Even the nominated writers sef, we don't know where they are. Things can only get better tho |

Patrick asked as he moved to stand beside Uncle James. "Anita came to me that she needed to rent an apartment, so I decided to bring her to my friend James." Olu replied confidently, even though one could see the fear in his eyes, but as grown up man who is nearing the age of fifty, he should be able to defend himself, afterall, he is a lawyer. Patrick stood still and exchanged look with James who felt withdrawn, because the last thing he wanted to be involved in was the issue as trivial as this which could lead to the family breaking up. "Olu, so tell me why James introduced you two as couples?" Patrick asked. Olu gave a hearty laugh as he looked from the helpless and ashamed Anita to the indifferent James and cool Patrick. "Uncle Patrick, you can play pranks, I swear. Anita is my wife, she is your wife. Is she not Oluwole's wife? Our custom speaks volume." James nodded his head in agreement with what Olu just said. Since he was very familiar with Patrick and his younger ones(Oluwole, Jane and Collins) he had no idea that they could be in anyway related to Barrister Olu. And moreso, the last time he saw Oluwole was when he finished from the University, he wasn't opportuned to attend his wedding and by the time he felt it right to visit the couples, Patrick had already relocated to the states. And the only way you could access a king is through his chiefs. "I concur with what 'The law' just said. I mean, you guys are related, he can decide to call any of your wives his wife." James added. "James, its like you don't understand. Anita here just divorced with Oluwole some few weeks back. And since Olu here is a lawyer, he is always in charge of her law suits. Which narrowed down to the fact that he handled the divorce case. So, why is he acting all ignorant here?" Patrick said as he moved towards Olu who moved backwards a little bit and bowed his head. "Olu, do you know the number of years I spent with your father as a young boy learning the ropes of business? I have been with him even before you were born." Patrick began. "I never for once looked at his women twice. We all know how much women you father keeps outside his marriage. They are all girls of my age, but what is due to the elders is due to them. Even though Wole is a few years older than you, plus he has divorced his wife. Whatever your brother has dropped to the ground, probably because he was tired of it, on no account should you pick his leftover without him giving you his word." That was all Anita needed to hear as she grabbed her bag and walked out of the compound. Even at forty nine, she was being considered a leftover. How much worse can it get? "You mean she has mothered three children?" James asked as he sat down with Patrick, while Olu remained on his feet. "Not only thre children. Her first child should be twenty five or thereabout." "Woman!!!" James exclaimed. "Don't blame her, blame the randy man here who couldn't hold himself." Patrick said pointing at Olu. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Do you realise the dangers that comes with you following boys around at this age?" Oluwole asked his daughter who by now was crying her eyes out as she begged her father. "Daddy, am very sorry sir. I was just a little be too naive and couldn't differentiate from what is right and what is wrong." She cried. "Naive you said? No you are not. You know the right thing, but you just loved doing the wrong thing. Remember this is what cost your mother her place in this house." The reply hit her hard in the heart and she could feel a piece break from the organ. "You have even started kissing boys. At eighteen, when you ought to be planning on what your future should look like even without men. Or do you think you can't make it without a man in your life? That's a wrong notion." It hurts more when rather than be flogged with a cane, one is being flogged with words. "Daddy, please forgive me." "You didn't offend me." He replied as he handed the laptop over to her and made for the door. "You dissapointed me." Was the last thing he said before he walked in. "Serena, sorry o." The gateman called from his post and she felt embarrassed that moment. "Idiot." She screamed at him before walking into the house. --to be continued-- |
