I find it hard to believe that educated young people are here defending the indefensible. I feel very sad the way Nigeria is heading. Vote wisely in 2023. |

Afamed:Keep changing the goal post until it dawns on you. From no structure to they are only making noise on social media, now the story is I hope they have PVC. No they don't have it's only PDP & APC supporters have PVC. You better join the train in creating a new Nigeria that you and your offsprings would be proud of. Vote Obi/Datti 2023 for a prosperous nation. |
By William Clowes 28 September 2022 at 12:46 GMT+1 A third-party candidate is the top choice to become the next president of Africa’s most populous country, according to a new opinion poll. A clear majority of respondents said they intend to vote for Peter Obi, a former state governor, in elections scheduled for February. The results of the survey conducted for Bloomberg News by Premise Data Corp. were published on Wednesday as the official campaign to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari kicked off. Of the 92% of participants who said they’ve decided how to vote, 72% named Obi as their first choice. Of those who are still unsure, 45% said the 61-year-old is their preferred candidate. Presidential Race Poll shows Obi is most-favored candidate before February election The San Francisco-headquartered data company surveyed 3,973 Nigerians from Sept. 5-20. Respondents to the app-based poll were selected from quotas developed by age, gender and location across the country’s six geopolitical zones. Results were then weighted against the original quotas to ensure national representation. About 44% of Nigerians own smartphones, according to the Alliance for Affordable Internet. The candidates of the two parties that have ruled Nigeria since the restoration of democracy in 1999 fared less well. Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress garnered 16% of decided voters and 23% of those yet to make up their minds. Atiku Abubakar of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party tallied 9% and 17% respectively. A former two-term governor of the southeastern Anambra state, Obi is running on the ticket of the Labour Party, which won a single seat in the Senate and House of Representatives in the last election in 2019. The APC and PDP dominate both chambers of parliament. In a relatively short time, Obi has built up an enthusiastic base known as “Obidients” -- initially online, but increasingly in the streets -- who aim to cause an upset on Feb. 25. Still, the Labour Party has a much smaller nationwide presence than the two rival parties, which are experienced at turning out voters across the vast West African country. Obi’s supporters will need to rapidly scale up their organizational infrastructure if they’re to capitalize on the campaign’s momentum. Obi originally sought the PDP’s nomination before withdrawing from a party election that Abubakar, a former vice president and perennial presidential candidate, won in May. Tinubu, who used to govern the commercial hub of Lagos and is the most influential politician in southwestern Nigeria, triumphed by a landslide in the APC’s primaries the following month. The five-month race to the general elections gets underway as Nigerians contend with soaring inflation, a plunging currency and pervasive insecurity. Production of the economy’s historical mainstay -- crude oil -- has also slumped to multi-decade lows, while the Buhari administration’s debt service bill in the first quarter of the year exceeded the revenue it was able to earn. Three-quarters of respondents said that their country is heading in the “wrong direction.” A combined 88% listed the economy and jobs, corruption, and security -- three pillars of the campaign that brought Buhari to power in 2015 -- as the most important issues facing their communities. Campaign Issues Voters are most concerned about economy and jobs, corruption More than 65% named Obi as the candidate best able to improve the economy, tackle corruption and reduce insecurity. Tinubu ranked second on each measure, ahead of Abubakar. Obi also came out in front in two other opinion polls published since Sept. 15. Despite the general disenchantment about Nigeria’s trajectory, most respondents said that they trust the election to be run fairly and think their vote will make a difference -- even if almost half expect the polls to be marred by violence. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-09-28/who-will-win-nigeria-s-presidential-election-peter-obi-leads-in-opinion-poll |
QuotaSystem:According to him, the poll correctly predicted the outcome of 2015 and 2019 presidential elections. The poll databank is available on the NOI/ANAP foundation website. Check well bro. |
QuotaSystem:Visit ANAP poll website, for the methodology & sample size, etc This is just the summary of the poll results. |
The Labour Party candidate for 2023 Mr Peter Obi has been shown to be the leading in the forthcoming presidential election poll. This was disclosed by Atedo Peterside the President of ANAP Foundation during an Arise TV interview on 14 September 2022. This September poll, is the first of the series of polls that the foundation plans to carry out in the lead up to next year's elections. This clearly shows that the 2023 elections might throw up surprises. ANAP foundation has been conducting presidential polls since 2011 with their results in most cases mirrowing the outcome of the election. It remains to be seen if that would be the case in 2023. There appears to be a new dawn in Nigeria's political space. Time will tell.

Jashub:When has it become a crime for a sovereign country to make their own choices?? Some of you just sit by the corner of your home to type baseless and absolute trash. Arm chair military analyst everywhere. A supposed nuclear and strong military power started an unprovoked war against Ukraine since February and the only thing they've achieved is shelling civilian population & neighborhood... Yet some brain-washed Africans are hailing the agressor and blaming the victim. The Russia you love so much, I'm sure you will never want to live and enjoy the leadership they have there. |
What's going on with Man Utd ![]() |
Nigeria is not used to leaders being asked tough questions on accountability & performance, hence this complain. |
Absolute trash Obi 2023. |
Psalm 23. Very powerful & prophetic |
I don't think 2m is too much for a professor. It takes alot of mental, social, psychological and financial commitment and fortitude to become a professor. Some political appointees and elected office holders earn more while contributing little or nothing to our economic growth. Education is the major driver of economic prosperity and development . As such, our academia deserves to be well renumerated. If this proposal is accepted by the FG, appropriate internal & external mechanisms should be put in place to ensure it is not abused and that professorol racketeering doesn't emerge in any shape or form. |
Okoroawusa:Learning is a continuous process. The timeline is immaterial |
The level of kidnapping in Nigeria is really disturbing and scary. Inadvertently, Nigerians are beginning to normalise these mass kidnappings. Sadly, people are no longer surprised nor outraged when these things happen. Our government needs to do more. We must not live at the mercies of men of the underworld. |
Bmuhd4smile:Yes. Have you received your Telex? |
Harlem22:3 weeks...Thanks for your input. |
@justwise, @duchess and other gurus, kindly assist with your input regarding this: I have unconditional offers from Northumbria University, Newcastle & University of Wolverhampton. I'm having some trouble making a choice. Their fees are almost same except that Wolverhampton is marginally lower. Which of the schools would you advise based on - cost of living, availability of family accommodation, job opportunities (student & dependent), safety, access to major cities and any other comment about each of the school/city. Your kind and prompt input would be highly appreciated as I am ready to make initial deposit. Looking forward to your thoughts. |
seunmsg:You're the person that's wrong. Court of Appeal ruled that 84 (12) of the electoral act runs contrary to the constitution which says appointees must resign 30days to an election. |
Right way to go. Let all qualified candidates apply, be screened and the most appropriate person selected. The university system is a citadel of learning. Merit based based approach should be used in appointing their head. |
Ebuca:I suggest you do your research well. Cost of living in York is high and there are limited job opportunities. |
2rucool:Thanks. I have purchased the e-pin. |
Elsanchez:Thanks bro. I have also purchased the e-pin. How can I connect with you to share ideas about the school? |
Summertime:Same here. Pls how do you plan to get the Scratch card/pin? Can anyone assist with the information? |
taiwogurl:How far with Northumbria Uni.? I got conditional there. Any idea about opportunities, living cost and security in Newcastle? Have you accepted their offer? Can we connect? Looking forward to hearing from you. |
Pls guys any info about the cost of living, security & opportunities between Northumbria University in Newcastle & Bournemouth Uni. Any information on this regard will be appreciated. I have limited time to make a decision. @taiwogurl cc |
Often times we spend so much time analyzing and evaluating the performance of the Federal government headed by the President. While this is completely in order, the federating units (States) and their heads (Governors) are unintentionally spared from our deep assessment and knocks hence, some of them perform poorly and are never scrutinized or given the required sticks. This inadvertently emboldens those that are performing poorly because citizens eyes are not on them. This is a bad omen. In a federal system of government, governors have a very crucial and an important role in upscaling and driving development in their States. In this short piece, I argue that it’s high we started tackling and assessing the performance of our governors and letting them understand that the economic growth and prosperity of Nigeria is not the exclusive responsibility of the President. Afterall, everyone in Nigeria lives and does their business in one State or another not forgetting the FCT. With the next general election barely 2years away, can we all take a critical, impartial and deep assessment of the State governors where we reside or do our business. It’s time to hold these governors accountable!!! Critical Questions: 1. How well or poorly has your governor performed? 2. What area(s) has he done well? 3. Which area(s) does he need to improve on? 4. On a scale of 1/10, how would you rate him? 5. Who in your view is the best or worst governor in Nigeria today? Let’s discuss People! |
safarigirl:Miss, do you know that there are provisions in our laws that protect kinds from harms way? This is a toddler being abused by a grown ass woman. If the OP is serious in pursuing the case there is an organization called federation of women lawyers in Nigeria and I can assure you that they will jump at this case. The OP already has a confession from the woman’s daughter, all she needs to do is to find a way to record her statement and use as an evidence in court. (Na everything human right related, court fit settle- that much I can tell you) One thing is - most Nigerians do not know nor understand their rights and that’s why people trample on them at will. Having said that, until the father decides to ask her out of his house, she has the right to stay there despite being married. Marriage doesn’t negate her entitlements it might be limited in this instance but it’s still there. You cannot preempt the court and orders are binding on all parties involved. Should anyone go contrary, that will be adjudged a contempt and the person is liable to a prison time. |
safarigirl:It appears you don’t understand how restraining order works. In this instance, she can get magistrate order restraining the stepmother from causing any physical, social or emotional harm to her and the young baby. In as much as it’s the step mom’s husband house, it doesn’t confer to her the right to cause bodily harm to the man’s grandchild. Upon until this moment, OP’s dad hasn’t disowned her nor asked her to leave his house, hence she deserves every right to stay in her father’s house pending when things getter. Having said that, this is a case of child abuse and it will receive accelerated hearing in any magistrate court within your location. OP, I will advise if it’s possible to move out from you dad’s house please do ASAP. Your safety and that your baby is in a serious danger. Urgently seek for a medical for your baby. That should be your utmost priority now. Do NOT retaliate. You’ll most likely regret it afterwards. I thoroughly, I understand how cases like this end (doesn’t always augur well for both parties) as I have handled something similar before. |
Please has any experience hire gotten the interview invite yet? |
