Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to Governor Bagudu's alleged refusal to confirm a Christian woman, as Kebbi Chief Judge.  Recall that it was reported earlier that the acting Chief Judge of Kebbi State, Esther Asabe Karatu, wrote a petition to the National Judicial Council over Governor Atiku Bagudu’s alleged refusal to confirm her as substantive chief judge of the state.

In the petition obtained by Daily Nigerian, the acting chief judge said politics of religion and her firm belief in justice and fairness were some of the reasons the state governor denied her rights despite the recommendation of NJC. On January 17, 2019, the Kebbi State House of Assembly also confirmed Mrs Karatu as substantive chief judge of the state, but the governor refused to act on the assembly’s confirmation. Femi Fani-Kayode who reacted to Governor Bagudu's alleged refusal to confirm a Christian woman, as Kebbi Chief Judge, stated that Nigeria is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-cultural SECULAR state and such act is not acceptable.

A Nigerian mother identified as Tayelolu Ejire, died on her birthday on Monday after asking for cake to celebrate her special day from her son. The deceased's heartbroken son who took to social media to pen down an emotional tribute, disclosed that he never knew the last words of his mother who died on her birthday, will be asking for a cake to celebrate it.

He wrote;

"You called on Monday to say you wanted a cake for your birthday which happens to be today your last words on Monday ‘atleast if I can’t eat cake, my friends would eat it’ not knowing non of us would get to eat it.. REST in peace tayelolu ejire Ara isokun"

President Muhammadu Buhari has received in audience President Of Liberia, George Weah at the State House in Abuja.

George Weah’s visit comes a day after Nigeria celebrated her Democracy Day on a new date (June 12).

Recall that Mr. Weah’s first Presidential visit to Nigeria was in March 2018.

Weah who was sworn in as Liberias new president on January 22, 2018,was in Nigeria to strengthen the ties between both countries.

It is believed that his revisit to Nigeria is to further deepen the trade ties between Nigeria and Liberia, as well as discuss other pertinent issues as they affect West African States.

A 98-year-old ex-American soldier, K.T. Robbins has reunited with his first love who he met during the World War 2, WW2 after 75 years. The army veteran who was filmed meeting his sweetheart again in a touching scene which took place in France on the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landing, was seen embracing a woman named Jeannine, after the pair saw one another for the first time in more than three quarters of a century.

Upon seeing her, he said: ‘I always loved you. You never got out of my heart.’ He showed her a picture of her he had kept for all those years. The ex-American soldier who reunited with his first love he met during WW2 after 75 years, was 24 when he was stationed with his regiment in Briey, in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in north-eastern France during World War II in 1944.

He fell in love with a young 18-year-old French woman – Jeannine, but their romance was cut short as he had to leave in hurry two months later and was rushed to the eastern front. When he returned to the United States, Robbins eventually got married, but he never forgot about Jeannine whose surname is Pierson but her maiden name was Ganaye. It is unclear if either of them had children and if their spouses are still alive.

Wole Soyinka whose statement was aimed at individuals trying to reduce the worth of the June 12, 1993 presidential election struggle by rubbing it in ethnic garb, stated that it's bad for anyone to brand June 12 struggle a Yoruba project as it is no different from the original act of annulling an event “universally acknowledged as the fairest, the most orderly and peaceful election ever conducted in Nigerian history; a chastening contrast to the 2019 general elections.”

He said, “Next, I found it equally lamentable that anyone should attempt to reduce the June 12 struggle to that of an ethnic project. It is a depressing travesty of the realities, a denial of the existence of a nation’s collective sense of justice and its tenacity in pursuit of that objective.

“No one denies that the immediate family of a victim of robbery feels the pangs of dispossession more keenly than others. The truth, however, remains that the entirety of the compound itself was violated, arrogantly and contemptuously dispossessed."

Okoro Blessing who earlier today claimed that Onye Eze was arrested, has shared a video which she said marks the end of Onye Eze's saga and also "confirms" the arrest. 

A mediator who was spotted in the video, was heard saying that everything seen on the internet about the house saga was twisted by different sources to soil her good name. Okoro Blessing was also heard saying in the video that she has her own house, which is quite similar to that of Onye Eze. The China-based businessman also maintained that peace should reign at the end of the video.
