Age of the former executive secretary of the Nigerian University Commission (NUC), Prof Peter Okebukola has become a subject of controversy as the prof is reportedly involved in age falsification scandal.Premium Times reports that professor of science education at the Lagos State University (LASU) has used different birth dates records to manipulate the system in his career. A document obtained by the newspaper showed that Prof Okebukola has three different birth dates.

According to the report, the professor has at different times in his career used February 17, 1949; February 17, 1948; or February 17, 1951, as his birthday.

Despite being aware of the discrepancies in his age, Lagos State University (LASU) has reportedly punished many lecturers for the same offence while condoning Prof Okebukola’s alleged age falsification.

Junaid Mohammed, a Second Republic member of House of Representatives has stated that the South should forget 2023 Presidency as the North will present a candidate in the election year.

The former lawmaker who claimed that zoning and rotation of power have collapsed and as such any region with the political strength can claim the coveted position, also accused Ohanaeze of collecting millions of naira to support Atiku Abubakar’s presidential bid. Speaking with Vincent Kalu, Junaid Mohammed who stated that the South should forget 2023 Presidency, added that the 2019 election had people who were responsible for maintaining law and at the forefront on mangling the election and upturning peoples mandate.

On equity in 2023, he said;

I don’t want to hear about this equity and justice, that is sheer nonsense.

The people, who abused this equity and justice, are the people from the Southeast because whatever we are talking about, in a democracy you cannot circumvent voting figures.

You can say it is time for my people. We will not vote for you and let’s see what hap- pens. I said it in one of my statements, look at the way the people of the Southeast voted during the last election; they have a humongous collection of votes and they all voted for Atiku, and they expect somebody to come from his own area to vote for them.

If you want other Nigerians to vote for you, you better look for other Nigerians and make a choice. Maybe, in 2023, Kanu will come and force all Nigerians to vote for them. Democracy is a question of give and take; you vote for me and I vote for you, that was what Michael Okpara used to say. You don’t vote for me and maybe you think that by abusing me on the pages of newspapers that I will vote for you. I will not. If I come back into active politics, it will be because of that. Let us see, for abusing people how they will vote for you.

Look at Ohanaeze, how they are duping people; they collected millions from Atiku. Let us see 2023, by the grace of God, which candidate they want to produce.

There are over 232 ethnic groups in Nigeria, how can anybody be a candidate of a group and expect to be voted by the others. You pressmen you have a responsibility to enlighten people. I want to see how they will pick the candidate from Southeast in 2023. Some of us traditionally, we don’t talk too much, but don’t imagine that we will keep quiet and do your own bidding, it will not happen. See what is happening now, we have started the second term of Buhari’s administration, but today, people are scrambling for 2023, and the Yoruba are saying that it is their turn. How it’s their turn, I don’t know.

We keep on making this mistake of agitation of, ‘it is our turn’ over and over again. After all, somebody says the classical definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.

This is what I see happening in Southeast; you don’t vote for anybody, you only vote for who gives money, also those who say they are in APGA; all those who belong to the Igbo faction of PDP. They should think back and think of their own generation of those who are promising and who are educated and who don’t see politics as trading. Politics is not trading; it is a serious matter.

A North Carolina couple, celebrated their 82 years of marriage and also shared the secret of their long lasting marriage which won them admiration. While the man D.W. Williams is 103, his wife Willie Williams is 100. The couple celebrated their 82 years of marriage and birthday by singing hymns with their friends and family at a church. “I don’t have no secret for that, just be nice to each other,” D.W. and Willie Williams said in an interview with WSOC.

Uganda’s Minister of Youth Affairs, Florence Nakiwala has told a 7-year-old rapper  Patrick Ssenyonjo popularly known by the stage name Fresh kid, to go back to school or get arrested. 

Florence Nakiwala gave the warning after it was alleged that Fresh kid was not attending school, and could perform late at night while his age mates were studying. The Youth minister who described this as child labour, warned the Ugandan 7-year-old to go back to school or get arrested and further taken to a juvenile prison.

"The constitution clearly states that no one under the age of 18 is allowed to work therefore Fresh kid should not be working rather be in school. Anyone found aiding his music career will have to face the law as well. The Lagos State police have arrested four cultists at their colleagues burial in Igbo-Okuta area of Ikorodu, after receiving a distress call. The four cultist arrested at their colleague's burial belong to the Klansmen Konfraternity, and they were identified as Owolabi Olamilekan, 18; Sani Aliyu, 20; Daniel Olamide, 20; and Sunday Kingsley, 18. 

It was alleged that they went to bury one of their members, Wasiu Rafiu, aka Kaba Kaba, who died of gunshot injuries.Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer in the State, DSP Bala Elkana who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, also disclosed that 8 others were arrested at their hideouts in Oworonshoki and Satellite Town by the Anti-Cultism Unit of the command during the initiation of new members of the Eiye Confraternity. According to him, the suspected cultists were Michael Hastrup, 24; Damilare Afolabi, 21; Richard Ogunnubi, 15; Ogunlaja Elijah, 28; Adepitan Adeniyi, 21; Adebayo Ismaila, 21; Adefesu Abdulwahab, 25; and Obinna Okey, 23.

Professor Pat Utomi who spoke about Success' video which went viral on social media, has disclosed that the viral video shows the Delta Government has no shame. According to Pat Utomi who is a political economist, the viral video of a schoolgirl, Success Adegor, who was sent home over her parents’ inability to pay her examination levy shows the Delta State Government as one that “has no shame.”

The  2019 governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in the state, added that the South-South state had more than enough revenues to give qualitative education, health and infrastructure to the people and to power agriculture endowment value chains and alleviate poverty.Punch reported that in his “The Battle Line Issues" statement, he equated Success’ bravery in the viral video to Rosa Parks who refused to obey the 1955 Alabama’s racist law.

A little girl with gusto and sharp wit decided enough was enough. She had had enough with the collapsed education situation in Delta State. Ex-IGP (Inspector General of Police) Sunday Ehindero has been accused of fraudulently receiving 10% interest on police funds, lodged in a fixed deposit account with a bank.The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, who alleged that ex-IGP Sunday Ehindero fraudulently receiving 10% interest on police funds, said the allegation was contained in a statement made by a banker, Aibangbe Maifuwa, to a Federal Capital Territory High Court 7, sitting in Apo, Abuja.

“The banker, Mr Aibangbe Maifuwa, a Business Development Manager with WEMA Bank Plc, who testified before Justice S. C. Oriji, in a case brought against Ehindero by the ICPC, said the money which was N10.3m was part of proceeds from N300m police fund he allegedly kept in a fixed deposit account with the bank.“The banker, who was led in evidence by the ICPC’s lawyer, Zainab Nass, told the court that the retired police boss had fixed the money at a 10 per cent interest rate per annum, between July 11, 2006 and January 19, 2007.

“In his response to questions put to him during cross-examination by Ehindero’s lawyer, K. O. A Nigerian soldier identified as Igbavbou Lucky, was arrested recently and paraded by the police in Edo alongside other suspected criminals, for alleged involvement in cultism.The Nigerian solider arrested for cultism, is said to be from Sabongida Ora, in Owan West Local Government Area of the state. Igbavbou Lucky, a private in the army who spoke to a Daily Trust correspondent, said; 

“I joined cult in 2016 and my bush name is Kokoma. I joined the Army in 2017. I was arrested yesterday (Thursday) at a birthday party in Ekpoma with my friends."
The Nigerian army who confirmed the soldier was arrested for cultism, said in its statement;

“The NA does not allow any of its personnel to belong to any confraternity such as cult groups and related associations,” the 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army said in a statement on Saturday from its spokesperson, Mohammed Maidawa.“Consequently, any of its personnel who crosses the red line in this regard will face the full rigours of military discipline."
