You asked two questions. Before I answer I have two questions 4 ya:
1) Can you read anyone's mind?
2) Do you know anybody who has never changed?

Trump will win mark this
My prediction too and I don't necessarily want it that way

There are a lot of people who don't like Trump.
But there are not enough people who don't like Trump to the extent of voting for Harris

It's good you know that it can attract tourism

I actually understand your point
The government is bloated and should actually be downsized

But eradicating a traditional institution that in some tribes have been there for centuries is absolutely not wise

Already, there are Africans, studying African history and culture (including Nigerian indigenous languages) in USA!!!!

These useless Kings you talk about, as of today, remain the custodians of Nigeria's culture

They don't have to be in government (I agree with you 👍)

Should they be discarded as you suggest (absolutely not!)

The time has already come, that Nigerian children, born in Nigeria, will travel abroad, to see Nigerian masquerades
Custodians of which culture? So places without these "kings" don't have culture? Anyway, they can stay all they want just don't mixed them into governance or in any way pay them from national funds - just as in separation of church from state.
In my opinion it is ridiculous to have "kings" same time you're trying to build an egalitarian, democratic society. When relics of the past are expensive and at same time don't contribute anything to what we're trying to build, we ought seriously ask ourselves if they're worth having

We should do well to get rid of these useless institutions. They're part of what's holding Nigeria back. China was backwards till they got rid of all the nonsense
Politics › Re: Nigeria Judicial System Is A Mess by DaddyCoool(f): 5:51am On Nov 02, 2024
A big CORRUPT mess.
They take pay-offs and sentence someone to 20 years. That's what the headline will say. Then hidden at the end is that there is an option of 20K fine (meaning the person can pay 20K fine instead!)

If you read what I said correctly, you will definitely infer that all i talk about happen in the past. Those days football had me grinding my teeth, increase my heartbeat and have me at the edge of the seat. Now I watch football just to unwind. I can't even recall the last time I watch arsenal game live on tv, it's been highlights and reels.
Which is why my first response to you is "na lie". It is simply not human nature. Unless you completely stopped paying attention. Even US presidency that doesn't concern you at all, you'd be happy if a particular candidate wins.

Almunjid:
Every form of government has pros and cons. I know monarchy isn't perfect, but I think it's much better than democracy. What good has democracy done for us, other than replacing old thieves with new ones every few years? Look at the recent dealings between Tinubu and the IMF—that's democracy for you: the West using it to install their puppets and control us. Furthermore, Democracy makes it almost impossible to appoint the right people, because politicians just reward their party members and friends who helped them rig elections with political appointments.

With a monarchy, most positions would go to competent technocrats instead. Just take a look at countries with monarchs—they've managed their resources way better than we have. UAE discovered oil later than Nigeria, yet they've made so much more progress unlike Nigeria. The contrast is striking: UAE was "mostly desert" in 1956 when oil was discovered, yet has since developed significantly, whereas 68 years after oil was discovered in Nigeria, the country has regressed, becoming "worse off than a desert"—all thanks to your so-called "democracy" which allows mostly uneducated Nigerians to elect greedy and clueless leaders and their group of thieves to steal from our treasury and mismanage our resources every 4 or 8 years unrepentantly. grin

Moreover, most leaders the West calls dictators or monarchs simply rebel against Western control, making it harder for them to exploit us. I don't need to give you examples—you probably already know. That's why the West pushes democracy on us—they fear losing their grip. They won't lift a finger if we're dying of poverty, but the moment a coup or dictatorship happens, they'll jump in, claiming "human rights violations."

Lastly, Monarchy would also stop us from killing each other every 4 or 8 years during elections. I respect your opinion, even though I don't share it. I just don't believe in democracy. Even if we don't adopt a full monarchy, granting monarchs constitutional roles would bestow a sense of honor and inclusivity upon them. After all, even the UK retained their monarchy; why shouldn't we? Nigeria shouldn't blindly emulate the West—instead, we should adapt systems that fit our culture and unique needs. That's why I believe the governors' move is a positive step in the right direction.

Peace!
I appreciate the erudite way you've stated your position. You're, however, mistaken as to the full implications of a dictatorship. Certain things are worth more than money. You can call Tinubu a fool as much as you wish and have full access to the internet and uncensored news and views from all over the world. That's not possible in China and Russia (though they hold elections!), not to talk of North Korea. I'd even say Nigeria's president is waaay too powerful. We've only been lucky so far. The wrong person can use control of INEC, Army, Police, to put his stooges in, effectively making himself president for life.
As for the governors, they are TOTALLY wrong. The last thing Nigeria needs is more government - another bloated, money-guzzling chamber. What we ought be doing is working to eliminate one of the current two chambers!

Stop this nonsense narrative of when a man is killed he must have done something to warrant his killing. People like you are the type who cheered the lady who just killed her boyfriend because the dude doesn't want the relationship anymore, to you he must have done something to warrant his death.

Have you ever asked this nonsense questions when a dude kills a lady? Do you alevrr justify the killing his f ladies by men when it happens? So why this nonsense narrative that men who were killed are the reasons for their death? Stop this nonsense societal stigma and narrative on men.

Condem acts that are antithetical to society development irrespective of the gender whose ox is gored. In so doing these nonsense stereotypes and prejudices will be eliminated leading to more sane critically asserted thoughts.
idahme:
This is same problem I have with these men, same men would assume a lady has done something wrong to a man who kills a lady but keep giving excuses for ladies who unalive men saying the men caused their own death. This is pathetic and these men are all over the society

The girl is guilty give her same treatment to serve as deterrence to others.
Her father is NOT dead. It'd be a different matter altogether if her father were dead

No, but when something obviously isn't working you find ways to pull away from it NOT try to codify it. You can also learn from the Chinese who had proliferation of dynasties and never saw progress until they abolished such nonsense.

I'm suggesting we ought be working towards there being no "monarchs" to enthrone and dethrone - which is what China did that helped them a lot. But I know I'm wasting my time - Nigeria seems cursed.

Great. Now whatever the girl says that warranted killing her father is truth in your opinion because the father cannot defend himself.

How about those little female househelps that were caught trying to poison the family food, did they have any justifiable reason for their attempt to wipe off the family that employed them?

I'm not making any hasty conclusion but taking sides is a no no and there is no justifiable reason for taking the life of a person where it is not a matter of self-defense in the face of threat to life.

Mr Oyinbo, BOTSWANA is one of Africa’s best governed, most prosperous, and stable economies, and has been so for decades.

Guess what distinguishes them from other African nations?

They have a House of Chiefs, who are traditional rulers acting as their peoples’ representatives by constitution, right up there as another arm of the govt, alongside the National Assembly, House of Reps, Senate, etc.

Unlike you mentally colonised people, they do not shun their heritage and worship everything white.

They are a proud African people who have decided to do the right thing, by marrying their rich cultural heritage to modern governance systems in a way that enables INCLUSIVITY and grassroots representation in decision-making at the highest levels of government.

That’s EXACTLY what we need in Nigeria.
You called me Mr. Oyinbo, I don't want to call you MR. IDIOT! So you think Nigeria will be better off if we add another bloated, useless "House of Chiefs" to our already bloated, money-guzzling govt? It is people like you that prove to me this country is truly cursed and is simply irredeemable
