So, you didn't bother to check the screenshot you uploaded before typing the rubbish, you posted? What's the hurry? I didn't type that. I even checked b4 and spellchecker still ended up typing that It's interesting that you guys are always quick to use Ademoyega's book , "why we struck" to buttress your half-baked theory that the first coup in Nigeria was not tribally orientated. Well, subsequent police investigation into the coup shows that , although, the copuists started their planings in August '65, Ademoyega was recruited late in October by Nzeogwu who himself was co-opted into the coup plot in early October. People can really be sick! Has Ademoyega retracted anything he wrote?? Was it only Ademoyega? Haven't all other participants said the same thing? Ben Gbulie, Colonel Nwobosi, and others, all came out to refute the idea there was any Igbo coup. He was there live, you were not! WHY would Ifeajuna need Ademoyega? These were people who trusted each other with their lives and he was out to deceive them! For what?? So Ironsi would become HOS! Would Ademoyega and others disappear after the coup? Would they not still be around? People will believe anything! Was Lt. Col Unegbe truly the second highest ranking igbo officer in January 1966? Who botched Ironsi's assassination? Maimalari's assassination too was botched by Major Okafor, but Ifeajunna insisted that his former brigade commander must be killed if the coup is to succeed, and he did went looking for maimalari whom he shot dead in cild blood when he eventually found him. Who went looking for Ironsi? No one did. What other Igbo ranked higher than Ojukwu and Unegbu besides Ironsi? Infact the highest ranking officer after Ironsi was a Yoruba. Which other coup in the history of the world was carried out by junior officers who installed senior officers who then arrested and jailed them??! Ojukwu was in on the coup too. Same as Ironsi and Fajuyi. Slimy zik had foreknowledge of the coup hence his absence from the country at the last minute and his long vacation in the Caribbean afterwards. Which other coup in the history of the world was carried out by junior officers who installed senior officers who then arrested and jailed them??! Ostensibly, the coup failed but who was/were detailed to lift Awo up from Calabar prison and what happened to him/them? The truth is, no activity was scheduled for Calabar that day Ostensibly what? Was the coup a success? I don't want to say you're talking like an idiot again. How many people can be involved in a coup? Who extra would be going to Calaba instead of first securing coup success?? And why not? Ojukwu managed to fool millions of biafraudians into an early grave, didn't he? Why should Ademoyega be any different to igbo mischevious coupists like ifeajunna? Ojukwu risked his own life and spent all his money to wage that war. Ademoyega now has benefit of hindsight, yet is even more adamant like others that there was no Igbo coup Tell that to the marines! No one is as blind as someone who REFUSES to see! |

So this talk that unless you have a secession clause, you must live together like siamese twins forever, is absolutely ridiculous. Particularly for people who were joined together with no unity clause Anyway, secession clause would have been mere semantics. If North wanted to secede no one could have prevented them from seceding nor wanted them not to secede (except Zik ). Likewise, the only reason it was worth fighting for that East not secede was oil. Secession clause could not have prevented the war! |

T9ksy: This is how you duplicitous folks go about dishing out falsehoods as fact, if not challenged and exposed for the shameless liars you all are..
Firstly, Brigadier Samuel Ademulegun did not write no flippin book as he was shot dead in his bed alongside his pregnant wife in the Jan 15th, igbo-led coup by Major Timothy Onwuatuegwu.
Secondly, it was Major Ademoyega who wrote the book you screenshot on here.
Thirdly, there was no attempt to free Awo from calabar prison on the night in question. That was just the line, Major Ifejunna spinned on to the gullible Major Ademoyega - a well- known Awoist, to get him to join their diabolical coup plot. You are talking like an IDI0T (note: I said you are talking like an idiot, NOT that you are one). A RABBID IDIOT at that. Firstly, it is obvious the name was a typo because the screenshot has the correct name Secondly, once again talking like an idiot about something you haven't read a book about. Here's a verbatim quote from Ademoyega (you can't know better than him) There was no decision at our meetings to single out any ethnic group for elimination. Our intentions were honourable, our views were national and our goals were idealistic. Even those earmarked for arrest, four were northerners, two were Westerners and two were Easterners.Thirdly, a second-highest ranking Igbo officer, Lt. Col. Arthur Unegbe, was killed in the coup. Ironsi was also marked down but they botched it. Fourthly, it was an Igbo that quelled the coup. After Nzeogwu realized the coup failed in the South and declared martial law in the North, the only reason he failed and later arrested and jailed, was because Ojukwu refused to cooperate with him. Fifth, you are really talking like an idiot when you talk about releasing Awolowo. THE COUP FAILED! Sixth, go read Ademoyega's book. Impossible to fool him. Besides he'd still have been around after the coup Seventh, Nzeogwu was surprised because he had expected a radio broadcast of the rebels from Lagos. He is said to have "gone wild" when he learnt that Emmanuel Ifeajuna in Lagos had not succeeded in neutralizing Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi who was the Commander of the Army. Therefore, Nzeogwu hurriedly drafted a speech which was broadcast on Radio Kaduna sometime around 12 a.m. and in which he declared martial law over the Northern Provinces of Nigeria. But Ojukwu ignored the declaration and ordered his arrest. Eight, try to learn to stop talking like a RABBID IDIOT! |

gidgiddy: Why would an Indigenous person of the land be looking for secession clause to leave a country the white man from Europe created?
Did the White ask for unity clause before taking your lands, and that of others, to create Nigeria?
The point here is that secession clause is not a must fir something that was just a mere colony Well, they were crafting something called a constitution. A constitution that would guide Nigeria when they become independent AND agree to stay together. You get it now? It was Nigerians deciding they want to stay together and under what rules, NOT the white man forcing them. Here's how Zik described it in his own words:In 1953 the NPC under the leadership of my good friend, the late Sardauna, threatened to secede from the federation unless their 6-point proposals were adhered to. I had to use personal diplomacy. We had been personal friends since 1940. So, I saw Sir Ahmadu Bello and prevailed upon him that the unity of this country was greater than himself and myself and the other people too helped so that the North shifted grounds and agreed and so the country was saved. That was in 1953. Again, however, when the 1954 constitution conference started, my good friend, Chief Obafemi Awolowo tabled a motion to the effect that in the new constitution, provision should be made that any state which feels like seceding should do so. I was opposed to it and said ‘no’ and said that once we have a federation, we are indivisible and perpetual. That was when we began to use that expression - ‘The Indivisibility and perpetuity of the federation’ - and that to secede would amount to treason. And so, a debate ensued. The Secretary of State then was Oliver Littleton, later Lord Chandos and he was very much interested and that was his first time in saying that the people of African descent were people actually debating at a high level. So a full day was given to Chief Awolowo to make his points. He spoke brilliantly as a lawyer.. We adjourned. The next day, I had to reply. I availed myself of the opportunity to, well, demolish the arguments of my friend. The North (NPC) supported Action Group. The question was then: Should we have secession? The Colonial Office came to our rescue. YOU KNOW THE USUAL PRINCIPLE OF BRITAIN – ‘ *DIVIDE AND RULE'* (laughs) but this time, it was in our favour. So, the colonial office backed us." Lord Chandos said that on the face of the arguments before him it would be suicidal to incorporate secession in our constitution and that is why we have section 86 in our constitution that if any region or state should secede, then it will be an act of treason |

MightySparrow: Aha. Boss?!
If Awolowo believed in one Nigeria, rather, a marriage of two strange bed fellows. why would he propose a secession clause?
Two people were in courtship, five years before wedding one was suggesting a time in the marriage when they would divorce for any reason best known to him.
Okay I am learning from history not your position.
The truth is that Awolowo never believed in one Nigeria. He made his intention known his parties and people were in opposition after independence. He ran different governments and programmes from the one of alloy of north and south.
How else would he have express himself?
When the war eventually broke out, it was between two pact partners. Okay, you people blame Gowon, what about Obasanjo, Benjamin Adekunle and the rest form other tribes who fought the war? Did Gowon even fire a shot at any Igbo man?
Till today, the alliance between igbos and the north is still intact and robust.
Igbos want to take over Lagos, calling it no man's land. Are you aware that the constituction of Lagos is being translated to Yoruba language. It is a signal to other tribes to be wary of.
However, my position is still this, it is better for igbos to extend right hand of fellowship to their brothers in the south - Southwest and Southsouth to be able to realize their aims. The north will never allow an Igbo presidency. I lived among them, I know how they reason and dubious ways of politicking.
If you are an Igbo person, educate your people. I have no problems with igbos. I am a pure breed of Yoruba race, married to another Yoruba woman. All my children have Igbo names as part of their names.
I am only expressing my opinion. The idea of igbos killing themselves and destroying their properties will not work neither will blaming people that killed their people. What is the offence of Dr Akunyili and many others killed by IPOB? Right political alignment is what igbos need. After the war, many igbos have intermarried with more North and other tribes and have built more businesses across the divides. I'm surprised you're still rambling on after making so many historically incorrect statements. I personally would have been too embarrassed to say anything further. Nice chatting withu. Ciao! |

After the independence, Awolowo proposed a secession clause. The idea was to get rid of the external enemy first and then settle internal problems. The problem has not been solved sixty - four years after. The expert's you provided just showed the differences in ideology that were not taken into consideration by the players. People like you, instead of reading and learning you'd be commenting on things you don't know much about. It was durring the 1954 constitution conference that Awo proposed a secession clause, long before independence. So there was no question of "The idea was to get rid of the external enemy first and then settle internal problems".😅 Awo was supported by the North of course, but vehemently opposed by Zik. In the end the colonial masters sided with Zik and so no secession clause was included! |

MightySparrow: I disagree Sir. The party NCNC was handed over to Zik by Macaulay, but greed would not allow him to choose a premier for the West, the reason Awolowo campaigned against him. There were people he could have used among the Yorubas. Anyway, politics is full of self interests and selfishness by the players not a racial expression of character.
Before almagamation, the north had the idea of plunging the Quran into the Sea. The agenda they still pursue till date. Zik was an unsuspecting victim. He ignorantly entered in treaty with north who planted their men in military and deceive the Christian northerners to support their agenda. To say the North wanted to ever leave the nation is laughable. Awolowo proposed a twenty - years of probation, after which any dissatisfied sect could leave. Zik, agreed just to rescind his agreement after discussing with the north. (Check your facts). That was why Awolowo played opposition. His words went viral then. ( Kàkà kí a dọ̀balẹ̀ fun gambari, ká kúkú kú: rather than prostrate for the northern elements, it is better to die). His words of wisdom have turned out to be true over the years. Igbos have suffered the most in the hands of the north. Next to igbos are Tivs , who, by their warlike nature prevented jihadists from penetrating Igbo land and rest of the southeast and South South.
Ojukwu attempted to correct the mistake at a very high cost. Yorubas should have joined in the struggle but didn't see any serious reason whatsoever. Awolowo went on aggressive educational campaign and built his people in Law and key professional careers. This, the north has not have a solution today.
It is clear now that war has failed once, it is still going to fail as I don't see any part of the nation that can face federal might. The only way out is blending rightly with the politics of the country. This I have not seen igbos doing. While I was in school, my Igbo friends boasted about igbo's wealth and how Igbo nation were independent on the Commonwealth of Nigeria. When MKO Abiola was killed by the north preventing him from using his mandate in the freest and fairest election, I saw the hopelessness in igbo's political philosophy and strength of wealth. I didn't expect Ngige, Amaechi and others to leave APC. No northern dominated party will approve igbo's presidential ambition in the foreseeable future. Of course, that was why the G5 governors ganged up against Atiku who betrayed the Southern presidential candidacy.
My long story is not to run down igbos but far igbos to have a rethink about how to stay healthy in Nigerian's political architecture.
It is better for igbos to stay with the south and middle belt to achieve their aims than alignment with the north. Thank God, Obasanjo opened the eyes of the middle belt to their plight in the hands of the core north. Obi now won in Nasarawa state.
I am not trading blame here but, a possible correction to the mistake of our founding fathers. Cheers friend. You are now rambling disjointedly. NCNC was closest thing to a National party in Nigeria as at then, with competing interests. You can't "hand" it to anybody. It is very hard to imagine now, but there was actually little tribalism in Nigerian politics as at then. Much like America, people did not run for or hold political offices based on tribe or place of origin, but on party and where they lived and did business. That is, until Awo did his thing. Read below

MightySparrow: It is either you are ignorant or you read wrong history texts. You are not referring to the antecedents of the war. Before independence, Azikiwe aligned with the north against the proposal of Awolowo who suggested a union of the Southern regions.southwest began to play opposition. Zim wanted to put the northern yoke on the west but smartly endged out by what you call betrayal today. Yoruba had had a rapport with the north via Islam and jihad. Zik, who grew up in Kaduna didn't see the danger and deception of the north. After the independence, seven years precisely, Ojukwu saw the handwriting on the wall. He wanted to break up. Awolowo also put his card on the table. He demanded, if igbos seceded, Yoruba would not join the north to form a lopsided country. The war was war between pact partners. Ojukwu could not afford to allow the East and West to leave. War was the only option left. He was so desperate to have offered Bakassi peninsula to the Cameroon.
Tell me a truer story. You are writing more nonsense but again it's not your fault - you just don't know. First of all Zik was NOT at all in control of NCNC the way Awolowo was in control of AG. NCNC had many competiting interests and groups. It was first headed by Herbert Macaulay, a Yoruba, and had lots of Yorubas - and these Yorubas were vehemently opposed to any alliance with AG and Awolowo. Another group threatening to pull out of the party upon any alliance with Awolowo was the Okotie-Eboh group (Warri and SS). But the most important reason NCNC couldn't have allianced with AG is that the North did NOT want to be part of Nigeria and were looking for any excuse to pull out. A gang-up of Southern parties would have given them the perfect excuse. They also had to have the prime-ministership instead of Zik. All were things the North had to be "bribed" with to stay in Nigeria - which was what Zik wanted more than anything else! Sharpsharp00123: u and gidgiddy, your aburi accord lie have been disputed a million times but u no go rest till u are disgraced with that ur video So let's see you dispute it.
