Around the mid-90s, I was a little child then still following my mother to the market. My mother was into buying and selling palm oil. I may not remember everything again but I can still remember vividly that before we returned home, she would buy 10 cups of Garri for N10. If it is 15 cups, it would be N15. 20 cups would go for N20. That's N1/cup. That was in stock to serve till the next market day.

As a son of a palm oil seller, against all odds, I have strived to attend education up to tertiary level only to come back and be hit with unemployment, in an economy with throat-cutting inflation. That same Garri that was N1/cup, the attached photo is 6 cups for N500. This is not even enough for one mouth not to talk of several mouths. How did Nigeria become this expensive and difficult for average citizens to survive amidst massive unemployment/underemployment?

The recent removal of fuel subsidy has even worsened the whole situation, making prices of goods and services beyond the reach of the common citizens.

"Can the poor breathe please?"

I am an applicant with mouths to feed, finding it difficult to survive each day. And as a Nigerian living in Nigeria, can I at least breathe until I get a job or find capital to start a business and things become better?

Undoubtedly, millions of Nigerians are in my shoes, and even worst. This is evident in the Nigerian streets.

Yahoo, kidnapping, money rituals, etc are not meant for everybody but unfortunately, the youth are being pushed into it due to the state of the economy. Note: I'm not in any way in support of the aforementioned.

In Tinubu's voice, I would say, please,

"LET THE POOR BREATH".
"DON'T SUFFOCATE THEM".

And on behalf of unemployed Nigerian youths, WE WANT TO BREATHE. DO WELL TO HELP THE UNEMPLOYED WITH A JOB AND ANY OTHER SUPPORT.

You seems to be a distrabalised person. From the outcome of the election, i guess over 95% from the south east voted for Peter Obi unlike other regions. Glad to find someone from the east who reasoned differently.

I went through your post up to ten pages. I was surprised you're from Imo state but you supported, voted and delivered your polling unit for Sanwoolu. That's strange compare to the level of tribalism in Nigeria, especially during the election period. You're even hopeful Tinubu will perform better than Buhari. That's so thoughtful of you and very rare. I am a Yoruba guy but i didn't vote nor campaign for anyone. I was 17 back in 2015 when Buhari was the talk of town. I was so hopeful Buhari will make Nigeria a better place for all. Sadly, reverse was the case. This made me lose interest in all politicians. I believed they're all going for their selfish interest. If Buhari can put Nigeria in this sorry state despite the love and affection back in 2015 then i wouldn't be surprised if any politicians did worse. I guess no politicians is as popular and widely acceptable across the length and breadth of Nigeria like Buhari back in 2015. Yet, he was a disappointment.

I'm really impressed seeing someone from the eastern part of Nigeria supporting someone from the west. During the campaign period (late/early this year) i hardly come across anyone from the east supporting someone from the west, but I had tons of persons from the west supporting someone from the east. My immediate younger sister supported and delivered her polling unit for Peter Obi.

I left school 2021 and finished service 2022. I had been job hunting ever since then. I got a factory job with #25,000 monthly payment. That has been sustaining me since last 4 months. I am expecting my may salary this week Friday. Presently sir, i don't have a penny on me. It was a friend who gave me #3,000 last Friday. That's what i used till last night. It's absurd telling her to give me more money again, even though we're best of friends. She's also managing herself. My kid sister about 8 years old is running temperature since morning. I had given her paracetamol but the temperature still persist. She hasn't eaten anything and she keeps throwing up. I don't have money to feed nor transport pending till when i get paid. Please sir if you can help me with any amount just to feed with my little sister. I am so ashamed of myself doing this in public forum, but what would i have done? I believe it's better going into crime or whataview. I understand how people run after you for one thing or the other. I understand you can't meet the demand of every needy. Even our government couldn't achieve that. I want you to understand that some of those people running after you for help do not wish to be in such situation. I wouldn't admit all but i know some sincerely do not wish to be in such situation. Keep doing the little you can sir. If you don't get the reward, your children will obviously get it. I so much like your kind of person. I am pushing to be a better person. Even though at times it always look impossible considering the family background and the country one came from. I sincerely hope God see me through.
