State visits by Leaders are not tourism, and diplomacy is not a fashion parade. Every foreign trip undertaken by a government must deliver measurable benefits to the people, including investments, technology transfer, trade agreements, factory expansion, industrial partnerships, and job creation.

During President Trump’s recent visit to China, the American delegation reportedly included a few top government officials, and many of the biggest figures in global business and technology:
Consequently, huge trade deals worth several billion dollars including about 200 Boeing orders were achieved.

That is how serious nations approach diplomacy, by aligning foreign policy with economic expansion, industrial growth, innovation, and national productivity.

I hope that lessons can be learned from these recent visits comparing them with the President of Nigeria’s recent state visit to the United Kingdom.

A large entourage of politicians, aides, and government officials travelled, yet Nigerians are still asking a simple question: what exactly did Nigeria bring home?

Which factories are coming to Nigeria?
What power, technology, manufacturing, agricultural, or industrial agreements were secured?
How many direct jobs will this visit create for Nigerian youths?
What investments were attracted?
What measurable economic outcomes can the ordinary Nigerian point to?
The delegation reportedly included:
1. President Bola Tinubu
2. Senator (Mrs) Tinubu
3.12 governors
4.9 ministers
5.7 members of the National Assembly
6. Over 20 senior State House staff
7. Over 30 security personnel
8. Over 10 domestic staff
9. Several supporters and associates

It is not enough to ride horses, wear matching uniforms, attend royal banquets, and release glossy photographs. Symbolism without substance cannot feed hungry citizens.

Today, Nigeria is in decline, battling serious insecurity, food insecurity, unemployment, a weakened naira, declining industrial productivity, and worsening poverty.
At a time when millions of Nigerians struggle daily to afford food and survive economic hardship, every kobo spent on foreign trips must produce tangible national value: investments, factories, jobs, exports, infrastructure, and economic opportunities.

Nigeria needs leadership that is focused less on optics and more on productivity; less on ceremony and more on measurable economic results.

Badaru Abubakar, Defence Minister, Resigns

Nigeria's defence minister, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has resigned his appointment, with immediate effect.

In a letter dated December 1, sent to President Bola Tinubu, Abubakar said he was quitting on health grounds.

President Tinubu has accepted the resignation and thanked Abubakar for his services to the nation.

President Tinubu will likely inform the Senate of Badaru's successor later this week.

Badaru Abubakar, 63, was a two-term governor of Jigawa state from 2015 to 2023. He was appointed as a minister on August 21, 2023, by President Tinubu.

His resignation comes amid President Tinubu's declaration of a national security emergency, with plans to elaborate on its scope in due course.

We detected and monitored with dismay and consternation a widely condemned publication/trending Tweet by Omoyele Sowore on his X official handle page
@YeleSowore on 25th August, 2025 about 11:38 PM local time (2338 hours) WAT disparaging and ridiculing the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Tweet read: "This criminal @officialABAT actually went to Brazil to state that there is NO MORE corruption under his regime in Nigeria. What audacity to lie shamelessly!"

Those words were personally directed at Mr. President through his official communication channel @officialABAT which is the known X handle of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The said tweet is herewith attached
and will be referenced on herein for emphasis and necessary action. The said tweet is still in circulation and has attracted widespread condemnation by majority of Nigerians, some of whom may resort to unwholesome activities to vent their grievance over it, especially supporters of the President who have started taking to the streets in protest, thereby creating political tension and threatening the country's national security. This is in addition to the disparaging effect the tweet has on the reputation of Mr. President and the country before the comity of nations.

The tweet under reference is against the transparency on X and Government has
frowned at it and found it extremely dangerous, false, privacy violation behavior
that manipulate and negatively impacts on the person of the President and the Country.

It is pertinent to bring to your knowledge that under the Nigerian Law, these quoted tweets/words constitute offence punishable in Section 51 of the Criminal Code Act Cap.77 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, which prohibits publication of false information; Sections 19,22 and 24 of the Cyber Crimes Act 2025 which prohibits and makes it an offence to spread fake news or publishing content that is deliberately misleading or deceptive, posting content that is rude, vulgar, offensive, or indecent, especially with the intent to embarrass or humiliate others, provoke ethnic, religious, or tribal hatred through online or offline statements; amounting to domestic terrorism. The Law also makes the offender and the medium through which the offence is perpetrated/propagated culpable and criminally liable too.

The author and purveyor of the inflammatory online publication against Mr. President is very much aware that the publication is also prohibited by Section 2(3) of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022 and other relevant Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It is not in doubt that the words employed by Mr. Omoyele Sowore is misleading information, online harassment and abuse, willful intention of furthering an ideology capable of serious harm, hate speech, cause disunity, discredit/disparage the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria within the Comity of Nations to damage the image of Nigeria and cause serious threat to national security of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It is against the above highlighted backdrop that we make an immediate and urgent demand on your Corporation to as a matter of its own policy, immediately TAKE DOWN the tweet and its attendant re-tweets.

This demand is unequivocal with its attendant consequence. Should you fail, neglect and refuse to comply with the command in this notice, the Federal Government will be compelled to take far-reaching, sweeping and across-the-board measures through our Organization, whose mandate covers such criminal acts.

Hello everyone,

I need some advice from medical persons on a possible exposure to HIV.

What is the probability of contracting HIV infection after protected sex with condom and washing of the genitals with soap and water.
So the story..
I had a one off sex with a lady on May 4th 2024 with condom. No oral,no kissing. After ejaculation,I removed the condom carefully,their was no condom tear/bust and went to the bathroom to wash off with soap and water ( i did not wipe off with tissue before washing off). So on 28th morning,I woke up with vomiting,diarrhea and localized abdominal pain on my lower left. Had a very mild fever the next day and I was treated for malaria and I recovered,though abdominal pain persisted for a while. I tested for HIV at 30 days post exposure and it came back negative.On 18th June 2024,the abdominal pain returned with diarrhea,lower back burning sensation and low grade fever the next day. I carried out culture test And Ulcer test, some bacteria was found and ulcer was positive. I was treated for ulcer and the abdominal pain stopped.

So my fear:
1.Can ulcer alone cause the symptoms described above?
2. Are their other possible STI/UTI test I need to carryout?
3. Is it possible that while washing off,the reminant of vaginal fluid on the pubic area can wash down to the tip of the penis and hence cause infection ( note I did not wipe off with tissue before washing off,meaning i might still have sperm at the tip)?
3. Can HIV transmit this way?
4. What are my chances that my 4 weeks negative test will not change after 3 months?

From wide search,I learnt that HIV 2 which is predominant in west Africa is a bit harder to transmit.

I'm still experiencing intermittent abdominal pain,burning sensation.

Some health care centers built by Local government in Lagos back in 2008 before I left the country were still standing and working great when I visited Nigeria 2 years ago. Heck, they still do all the prenatal and antennal stuff like when they started almost 20 years ago. Don't paint all politicians with the same brush Mr pessimist.
