yeah, I feel you snazzy, like my signature says, things happen |
From all indexes, China is most probably the next big thing that's going to happen, did you happen to watch a special documentary on CNN about two weeks ago where they reported on how most things in America and Europe were chinese, from toys, to household items, foodstuff and almost anything you can think off, the report made it sound like most of the things coming out of china was fake, but you know what? I think the Americans are scared that the chinese are practically getting a stranglehold on their market. Whereas China trade balance with America was a surplus, that of america with China was a deficit. I visit a wal-mart store here in Texas and what do i see, almost all the articles on sale are chinese, especially the cheap stuff and that's what people go for. From all indications all roads will lead to china sometime in the nearest future. |
snazzydawn:owww cool, you were a popular member of the class back then, I hardly get to see you around these days, |
From ages past there has always being a dominant country in the affairs of the world, from the Egyptian civilization to the Roman empire where all roads led to rome, and more recently the British empire where britain controlled almost 90% of the world affairs and determined what was right and what was wrong, when they thought slavery was right, everyone was trading in slaves, when they now decided that it was wrong and colonisation was the right thing, that took over. It's the turn of the Americans, they can throw a bomb on hiroshima and it's not so bad, but when something on a less scale happens in new york the whole world must shake. And you know what? no one can do a damn thing about it. We can only whine till sometime in the future when another empire will take over and the cycle will continue. |

With the introduction of the new e-passport, I don't think you can get it in all the cities, just Lagos and Abuja for now. |
check out this forum also http://www.canadaimmigrants.com/forum_2.asp March 3 - 2007, Sharmila. Burnaby, BC. In my opinion, Canada is inviting immigrants simply for the money they bring in. Think about it. I don't know about the landing fees they are charging now but when we immigrated, the fee was $950. If as claimed, Canada is accepting 250,000 immigrants per year, multiply that number by 950. The number is mind-boggling - $ 2,37,500,000. That's why they want immigrants. The Canadian government could care less what happens to those immigrants once they come in to the country. They know that these immigrants can either work at low paying labour jobs or leave the country in disappointment. There will be many other suckers that will come if some leave, and in fact each new batch will bring in a lot of the dollars that make this country a wealthy one in the world's eyes. The money brought in flows into the government's coffers. The government gives false impressions to educated and eager young people in poorer countries, so that they can feel that there's so many opportunities in Canada. In fact, they will be working harder than they would in their home countries and yet be barely able to make ends meet. The business world here exploits immigrants and the Government turns a blind eye because after all, they have got their money. Another taxpayer is added to the population without having gone to the trouble of spending on schooling and other benefits that young Canadians receive, what does it matter to the government in what conditions the immigrant lives and works? And so, every year another fresh batch of young, hopeful, educated doctors, engineers, architects, teachers, and other professionals come in to be the janitors, caregivers, security guards, gas station workers and Subway "sandwich artists" in this country. |
