TravelRe: Language Test For Citizenship by dafman(m): 9:52am On Sep 23, 2006
The language test is important to anyone wishing to settle in a new country and i am not against any country trying to make people have a basic knowledge of the language before they can be granted citizenship.

If you're going to be a citizen of a country then you should be able to relate and communicate with your fellow citizens, it goes a long way to fostering integration.

Jokes EtcLadies Room: by dafman(op): 2:32pm On Sep 22, 2006
A sexy woman went up to the bar in a quiet rural pub, she gestured alluringly to the bartender who approached her immediately. she seductively signalled that he should bring his face closer to hers. As he did she gently caressed his full beard. "Are you the manager?" she asked, softly stroking his face with both hands.
"Actually, no" he replied.
"Can you get him for me? I need to speak to him" she said, running her hands beyond his beard and into his hair. " I'm afraid I can't" breathed the bartender. Is there anything I can do?"
"Yes, I need for you to give him a message" she continued, running her foreginger across the bartender's lips and slyly popping a couple of her fingers into his mouth and allowing him to suck them gently.
"what should I tell him?" the bartender managed to say.

" Tell him," she whispered, "there's no toilet paper, hand soap, or paper towels in the ladies room.

It doesn't hurt to take a hard look at yourself from time to time.
This little test should get you started. During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the director "what is the criteria which defines a patient to be institutionalised". "well" said the director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him/her to empty the bathtub."

OK. here's your test

1. Would you use the teaspoon?
2. Would you use the teacup?
3. Would you use the bucket?

"oh, I understand" said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or teacup." "NO" said the director, "A normal person would pull the plug".
"Do you want a room with or without a view?

You got great scores! I had a 790 in math and 640 in english, only 90 points better and i'm in a great phd program here in the US. Your scores qualify you, it depends on how competitive your program is.
You're in a PH.D programme? wow that's cool. You want to be a lecturer?. I would have liked to put in for ph.d too but i have a feeling that outside the academic field there are fewer chances for those with a ph.d.

What course are you studying?

You really should have registered online, registering with Touche takes months to get confirmation, online you would get your confirmation date through e-mail immediately. If you had not registered i would have directed you to usastudyinfo.com, i registered through the site and it didn't take more than two days to get my confirmation and 3 weeks later i was through with the GRE.

PoliticsRe: Has Anyone Considered Ibori For President? by dafman(m): 1:22pm On Aug 25, 2006
Because Ibori is not doing a good job of publicising his achievements in Delta State people don't seem to know that he is one of the best if not the best governor in the Niger - Delta. Most of those running him down here have not even lived in delta state. To see the changes taking place you need to be there.

The United Nations Development Programme rated Delta state as the best state in the Niger-Delta in terms of Human Development Index (HDI) for 2005. And out of all the local governments in the Niger-Delta rated, 11 were judged to be the best and out of these 11, 9 are in delta state amongst which are Udu local government, Aniocha south, warri north, warri south.

Check Punch newspapers of 24-08-2006, page 24 for more details.

neelsel:
Dafman thanks for making sense.
You're welcome Neelsel.

Looking at the mindset of most young people in Nigeria today, I wonder how we can have progress as a country. Most people just want to make money, more money and even more money, be popular, get on t.v, display your wealth, etc etc. They don't seem to want to do any other thing in life other than making money and be like the leaders we have now.

In most villages in Nigeria you can find at least one wealthy individual, but you will be surprised that apart from his Mansion and maybe a few metres of road to his private estate most of his fellow townspeople are living in abject poverty. Even a simple borehole that can be dug to provide water would be left for the government while his own compound would be a government of its own with all the amenities. He will say he is not Jesus Christ that the local government is there.

That is why most of the multinational oil companies in the Niger-Delta can afford to drill oil, pollute the farmlands, rivers, even the air and yet there will be no single developmental project in their area of operation because they claim they've paid tax.

Not again, when will people stop posting topics like this.

(1) There is totally nothing wrong with someone wanting to make friends with you.
(2) If you don't want to be friends then tell the person, i'm sure he/she will leave you alone. Not posting it in the forum, afterall the person did not post a topic wanting to say hi on the forum
(3) There are lots of people on this forum that have made friends through the medium you're castigating

Nairaland seems to be getting recognition from lots of places these days.

Some days back i was chatting with a new member and he said he got to know about nairaland from a presenter on Cosmos FM in Onitsha, who advised people to check it out for info.

And in Yesterday's punch, page 16,  a columnist (Dozie Okebalama) talked about the poll on nairaland on the best and worst performing governors.

Yes o Rotweiller, I think they need to get their priorities right, they fight for rights of animals when they've not finished fighting for human rights.

How can somebody will his inheritance to a cathuh Someone in Britain did that some years back, and the cat actually inherited the man's millions, not like the man didn't have family. The stupid cat was living like a king.
