The Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday opened the trial at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja by tendering the results of the polls in Niger and Yobe states.

Atiku and his party had petitioned the tribunal challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and his All Progressives Party at the February 23, 2019 election.

A renowned constitutional lawyer, Prof. Ben Nwabueze (SAN), made what turned out to be a solidarity appearance at the tribunal on Thursday. Nwabueze arrived the courtroom in a wheelchair, and was wheeled out shortly thereafter.

More than 40 military staff and recruits at an academy in central Switzerland were sent to hospital Thursday after they suddenly fell violently ill, the government said.

In a statement, the Swiss defence department said that on Thursday afternoon, 43 recruits and members of the Jassbach academy in Linden, in Bern Canton, suddenly suffered from acute gastrointestinal problems, with diarrhoea and vomiting.

“As a result, all 43 service members were sent by ambulance and helicopter to hospitals and military medical facilities,” the statement said.

An army spokesman told the ATS news agency that four of those affected were in a critical condition.

The authorities were still trying to determine the cause of the disease outbreak.

As a precaution, the canton of Bern has imposed a quarantine on the Jassbach site, which is specialised in cyber defence training, the statement said.

National chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has chided the leadership of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party over the latter decision to investigate the choice of its lawmakers in the election that produced certain principal officers of the National Assembly.

Speaking on Monday when he met with a delegation of APC chieftains from Kano state, Comrade Oshiomhole said the stance of the Prince Uche Secondus led PDP was an aberration in a democracy.

He said:”  The way the manner they did, such that the PDP that was calling for the secret ballot because they didn’t want people to know how people voted are now the one conducting an enquiry who voted for who among them. This is a complete violation of the essence of the secret ballot. The idea of a secret ballot is that nobody should know who voted for who. Now, PDP is going down the history as a party that seeks to investigate how people voted in the secret ballot. That is a gross violation of the most basic principles of democracy with regards to the secret ballot. That is why we are better and different and I’m very proud of all of you.”

” This is a fact that nobody can wish away, it cannot be overemphasized by those numbers because politics is a game of numbers. It is those numbers that made us win the Presidency. Without those numbers, we won’t be in the office. Incidentally, I reflect between the President’s vote and the first runner up, Atiku. It is about 3.8 million. So, we cannot, even in doing that, downplay the role of numbers and so, it is based on this that we are having regards to sacrifices that other people have made. To whom much is given, much is expected.  Kano has given us a lot as a party, has given a lot to our President and we must therefore reciprocate.

“We also appreciate the leadership that governor Ganduje has provided. Not only in terms of governing Kano State but also his contribution to strengthening the APC. He has handled a very sensitive national assignment for the party to help it conduct elections. His commitment to the party is not in doubt whatsoever.

Busola Dakolo, popular photographer and wife of musician Timi Dakolo has accused Biodun Fatoyinbo, Pastor Commonwealth of Zion (COZA) of raping her as a young virgin girl.

The allegation is coming weeks after her husband Timi Dakolo in a series of posts on Instagram called out the Abuja based pastor for serially molesting women in the church.

Narrating her ordeal in an exclusive interview with Chude Jidenowo, co-founder of Red Media, Dakolo said, "There was no GSM then. I didn't know and he came to my house. My house then, the gate was opened but the living room is where you just knock the door and someone will come downstairs and open the door. However, my mum had travelled with my younger sister. It was just I and my elder sister at home.

The house was a duplex so big that if you are in a room upstairs you won't know what's going on downstairs. So I came down normally, it was 6:30 am to 7 am pretty early, and I heard a knock. Ah, who's that, Pastor Biodun. I couldn't say anything because what he doing here this early?.

"Immediately I opened the door, he just pushed me. He didn't say anything, didn't utter any word, he just pushed me to one of the chairs in my living room and I saw him, he was removing his belt.

"So I was like what? And he said, 'keep quiet, do what I want and you will be fine'. At this point, a whole lot was going on in my head because he was someone I had put up here and I thought was really really concerned about me. I had already filled him in the place of a father that could speak to me, guide me and he was there about to do something I did not believe.

"When I was about to react, he covered my mouth and when he did he said, Busola, listen to me and you will be fine, just do what I want you to do.

"I didn't struggle, I just left him and he brought out his penis. I was wearing a nightgown and pant, he pulled down my pant found difficulty to enter I was grunting, I would cry and he eventually penetrated, blood dropped on the floor.

"At that point, he finished what he wanted to do, had an orgasm and he zipped up. He left me there, I just sat on the floor and he went out.

"It looks just like an event but after that whole lot damaged within me. He entered his car, came back with Crest a soft drink with green content. It was already opened so he just poured it in my mouth and I had to swallow as he did that.

"He tapped me and said, you should be happy I'm the one that did this to you and he said I'll see you and he left.

"He said, 'be happy a man of God did this to you, disvirgined you'. At this point he was already a pastor in Ilorin, his wife had given birth to their first child Shindara and I was in the choir."

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide (OYC) has rejected the call for establishment of vigilante groups in the South East to protect members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).

The group said this in a statement on Sunday signed by Ohaneze Youths President General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki.

According to Isiguzoro who said that most houses and streets in the South East employ northerners as security personnel, said that except the South Easterners get rid of those Fulani youths as their gatemen and watchmen, all their outbursts against the establishment of Fulani Youths Vigilante groups will amount to nothing.

Mr Femi Otedola has sold his 75 per cent majority stake in the oil marketing company, Forte Oil,  divesting a total of his 970.17 million shares of Forte Oil, worth N64.38 billion on the floors of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in an off-market trade.

Otedola on Wednesday announced his exit from Forte Oil Plc , in a deal, which according to TRW Stockbrokers Ltd., was  negotiated between Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers as buyer, while APT Securities and Funds Ltd., WSTC Securities and Quantum Zenith Securities were sellers.

Also,, confirming his exit from Forte Oil, Otedola, in a message posted on his verified Instagram page, said he had divested from the business and would now concentrate on his power generation business.

In line with my principle of business focus, we have divested from our marketing and upstream businesses and shall from now on focus and consolidate on the gains of our power generation business, Geregu Power Plc.

“We wish our successors the very best and urge them to build on our legacies which have been established since 1964,” Otedola said in his social media handle.

Otedola sold his 75 per cent majority stake in the oil marketing company to Prudent Energy, a local oil trading firm.

However, Forte Oil is yet to officially file a regulatory notice on the final disengagement of its former chairman and majority shareholder from the company to the exchange.

Otedola had signalled his intention to sell off his 75 per cent direct and indirect holdings in Forte Oil downstream business.

He reached an agreement with Prudent Energy team, investing through Ignite Investments and Commodities Ltd., to divest his 75 per cent direct and indirect shareholding in the company’s downstream business.

It is not clear if the move by Otedola was part of his original plan to divest from the downstream business of the company to enable him take over the lucrative upstream and power assets of the firm.

President Donald Trump said Saturday he was delaying a planned immigration sweep for two weeks to allow time for his Republican Party and opposition Democrats to find a political solution to the hot-button issue.

The mass round-up of as many as 2,000 families who had been served with deportation orders or failed to show up for court appointments was expected to begin in up to 10 cities as early as Sunday.

“At the request of Democrats, I have delayed the Illegal Immigration Removal Process (Deportation) for two weeks to see if the Democrats and Republicans can get together and work out a solution to the Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border,” he tweeted Saturday.

He added: “If not, Deportations start!”

It was not immediately clear what legislative measures might be considered in the two-week reprieve. Immigration reform is a long-sought goal by lawmakers in both parties but meaningful change has remained elusive amid partisan rancor.

Democratic US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had urged Trump to call off the raids, alluding to his stated reason for scuttling a military strike on Iran in retaliation for its drowning of an unmanned US spy drone — as many as 150 lives would be lost, he said.

“I would hope he would apply that same value to avoiding the collateral damage to tens of thousands of children who are frightened by his actions,” Pelosi said in a statement.

She later tweeted: “Mr. President, delay is welcome. Time is needed for comprehensive immigration reform. Families belong together.”

No help from major cities 
Major US cities said to be targets of the now-postponed raids had vowed not to cooperate, with city leaders and civic groups from New York to San Francisco warning undocumented foreigners of their rights.

In Texas, an immigrant and refugee advocacy group called RAICES put out a tweet reminding immigrants of their rights if their home or place of work is raided: they can refuse to open the door, remain silent, refrain from signing anything and ask to speak to a lawyer.

“Only good faith bipartisan efforts will fix the system and ensure our country lives up to its own highest values and ideals,” said Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms of Atlanta, one of the cities girding for operations that Trump warned of on Monday.

US news outlets reported that the family roundups had been expected in up to 10 cities including Houston, Chicago, New York and Miami.

Earlier Saturday, Trump depicted the planned operation as “going by the rules, going by our court system, and taking people out of our country who came into our country illegally. They came into our country illegally and we’re taking them out legally.”

Much as he did to get elected in 2016, Trump is focusing on illegal migration as red meat to rally his conservative base as he seeks another term in 2020.

Earlier this month, Trump rattled world markets and defied his advisers by threatening tariffs on all Mexican imports unless it cracked down more on people pouring across the border into the United States.

Migrant apprehensions at the US border with Mexico reached 144,000 in May, the highest number in 13 years.

Mexico avoided the duties after agreeing to bolster security on its southern border and expand its policy of taking back migrants, most of them from violence-riven Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, as the United States processes their asylum claims.

The reason firstborns are under attack is because they are pacesetters. They are the family’s glory and honour. If the devil can attack them, he can get the rest of the children in the family. Again, the firstborn has influence over the other children in the family; hence he is meant to be the mentor to them. Take a close look at Aaron’s firstborns, Eli and Samuel, when they made a mistake, the influence of their mistake rubbed off on their siblings because their younger ones followed suit. If the devil can get the firstborn to become wayward, to be an armed robber or to be initiated into witchcraft, he can also push the other children to do same, as there will be a rub off of the negative influence on them too.

I left Lagos yesterday heading to the east, just before I got to Ore doing 100-120km, my car lost control and started veering off to the right. I tried to steer it back on track and the next thing I knew I was upside down tumbling till the car finally ended up in a gutter.
Miraculously I came out alive with few cuts and bruises.
I thank the Almighty God for his mercies, I thank our blessed mother Mary, and to all the Angels sent by God to protect me always, thank you.

The founder of the One Love Family, Sat Guru Maharaj ji, has called on President Muhammed Buhari to appoint him as his ‘spiritual adviser.’

According to Guru Maharaji Ji, such is necessary because other religious groups and their leaders have failed.

He made the request on Tuesday during a press conference to mark the 26 years ‘Anniversary Celebrations of Nigeria Declaration as the new Holy Land of the Universe’.

The United States State Department says applicants will now have to submit social media usernames when applying for a visa into the North American country.

According to BBC, the new regulations also require that people also submit five years’ worth of email addresses and phone numbers.

This is part of the state department’s plan to ensure national security in the country.

“NATIONAL SECURITY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY WHEN ADJUDICATING VISA APPLICATIONS, AND EVERY PROSPECTIVE TRAVELER AND IMMIGRANT TO THE UNITED STATES UNDERGOES EXTENSIVE SECURITY SCREENING,” THE DEPARTMENT SAID VIA AN INITIAL PROPOSAL IN 2018.
