Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by damcqute(m): 10:00am On Jan 20, 2020
Thanks a lot.. Will do just that.

Vicas2000:

Your mum is in a better position to get a UK visa.

Here are the document she needs to submit:

1. Her bank statement where she collects her pension.

2. If she has a letter /pension certificate, then that's a plus

3. A letter of support from your dad saying that he is happy for your mum to visit the UK while he is in Nigeria. (shows family ties in Nigeria)

4. Property document (C of O or Deed) that proof that she or your parent own the property they live in.

5. Your birth certificate (that shows she is your mum)

6. Marriage certificate (if she has one. If not, don't stress on this, as I successfully invited my parent without it)

7. Does she give receipt to her tenant? If she does, then ask her to include her tenancy duplicate as part of the application.

8. If she doesn't, then she can explain that deposit into her account on a separate letter to say she has tenant.

On your own part, you need to provide the following:

1. Council tax bill
2. Your rent agreement or Mortgage statement (depending on if you own or rent)
3. Your BRP
4. A letter of invitation from you
5. Your one month payslip
6. Your job offer letter

In your invitation letter, state why you are inviting your mum, for what length (put dates) i.e. My hope is that she will be able to arrive on the 4th of July and spend 3 weeks with me.

Also, state in your invitation letter that you've only recently started work, hence why you only have one month payslip.

I can't think of anything else, but maybe some other people will suggest some things I am missing out.

Hello guys, please I need you advice.

My mum is currently applying for a UK visitors visa to visit me in the UK. She's fully capable of sponsoring herself, as she's retired she receives a monthly pension payment. Also, she owns 2 houses with multiple tenants who pay into her account.
I will be providing her accommodation during her stay, as well as feeding and transport within the UK. I have only been here for about 2 months so I don't have sufficient funds in my account to sponsor her. (1 salary received so far)

What I want to know is what documents she needs to submit especially as proof of finances (as a pensioner and landlord)?

Also, what documents can I also send to support her application?
Invitation letter? My BRP? Bills?

Thanks in anticipation of your response.

Yep on the basis of using priority service

Ooh. Thanks. Does this mean that if it was a regular service application, there might be no delay?

I chose to do priority now cos I have an exam in exactly a month's time and I need to know my fate asap.

ozymes:
Have you ever been refused a UK Visa, US Visa, Canadian Visa, Schengen Visa?

Yes, was denied UK visa. Made a mistake in my previous application in march which I corrected and then re-applied almost immediately.

I guess that's why there's a delay?

Hello house...
I applied for a priority visa and had my biometrics last week Monday. Till today, I am yet to get any email from UKVI or TLS apart from the one I got the day of the biometrics. It's already over 6 working days. Need my passport asap. Pls what do you advice?
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by damcqute(m): 12:28pm On Jun 04, 2018
Hi Ekpotek.. I have a similar question. In my application for a standard visitor's visa, I stated that I will be there for 3 days, for an exam. However, I intend staying back there till I get the results of my exam. That's about a month or more. Will this affect my subsequent application? Although, all things being equal, it would be for a Tier 2 visa, not a visitor's. Thanks for your anticipated response.

ekpotek:

Obviously be ready to expect issues in your next application if you stayed beyond at most 3 weeks. If you really want to stay beyond 2 weeks, declare it in on landing card and defend it at POE.
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by damcqute(m): 6:31pm On May 17, 2018
Hello house. Please I am applying to visit the UK for an exam next month. 1st timer. Can I use a 4-month account statement of closing balance of about 600k? Note: I am also making use of a sponsor whose account statement is of 6 months and closing balance is very sufficient. My proposed total expenses can't surpassed 350k for a 3 day visit.
Nairaland / General / Re: Practical Ways To Improve Your Self-discipline by damcqute(m): 11:56am On May 10, 2017
1. ACCEPTANCE:
The first step to building your self-discipline involves acknowledging your present status in terms of Self-discipline. How strong is your discipline at this moment? Which challenges are easy for you, and which are virtually impossible for you? Here’s a list of challenges to get you thinking about where you stand right now (in no particular order):

Do you shower/bathe every day?
Do you get up at the same time every morning? Including weekends?
Are you overweight?
Do you have any addictions (caffeine, nicotine, sugar, etc.) you’d like to break but haven’t?
Is your office neat and well organized?
Is your home neat and well organized?
How much time do you waste in a typical day? On a weekend?
If you make a promise to someone, what’s the percentage chance you’ll keep it?
If you make a promise to yourself, what’s the percentage chance you’ll keep it?
How often do you exercise?
How many hours of focused work do you complete in a typical workday?
How many items on your to do list are older than 90 days?
Do you have clear, written goals? Do you have written plans to achieve them?
How much TV do you currently watch? Could you give up TV for 30 days?
How do you look right now? What does your appearance say about your level of discipline (clothes, grooming, etc)?
Do you primarily select foods to eat based on health considerations or on taste/satiety?
When was the last time you consciously adopted a positive new habit? Discontinued a bad habit?
Are you in debt? Do you consider this debt an investment or a mistake?
Did you decide in advance to be reading this blog right now, or did it just happen?
Can you tell me what you’ll be doing tomorrow? Next weekend?
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your overall level of self-discipline?
What more could you accomplish if you could answer that last question with a 9 or 10?

If you haven’t consciously acknowledged where you stand right now in terms of your level of self-discipline, it’s highly unlikely that you’re going to improve at all in this area.
Just as there are different muscle groups which you train with different exercises, there are different areas of self-discipline: disciplined sleep, disciplined diet, disciplined work habits, disciplined communication, etc. It takes different exercises to build discipline in each area.
My advice is to identify an area where your discipline is weakest, assess where you stand right now, acknowledge and accept your starting point, and design a training program for yourself to improve in this area. Start out with some easy exercises you know you can do, and gradually progress to greater challenges.
Progressive training works with self-discipline just as it does with building muscle. For example, if you can barely get out of bed at 10am, are you likely to succeed at waking up at 5am every morning? Probably not. But could you master getting up at 9:45am? Very likely. And once you’ve done that, could you progress to 9:30 or 9:15? Sure.

2. WILLPOWER
This is the ability to control yourself, having a strong determination that allows you to do something difficult (such as to lose weight or quit smoking). Willpower is the spearhead of self-discipline. It is your ability to set a course of action and say, “Engage!”

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.
– Vince Lombardi

How many commercials have you seen that attempt to position their products as a substitute for willpower? They begin by telling you that willpower doesn’t work and then attempt to sell you something “fast and easy” like a diet pill or some wacky exercise equipment. Often they’ll even guarantee impossible results in a dramatically short period of time — that’s a safe bet because people who lack willpower probably won’t take the time to return these useless products.

Practical ways to improve your self-discipline

You are deeply asleep, enjoying the cool breeze coming through your window. You are probably dreaming of sweet things, then suddenly, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP...
Your alarm clock goes off! You realize its actually morning already. Oh no!
You feel groggy and slightly disoriented. Then you remember the deal you made with yourself just before you slept last night. Feeling inspired, you made up your mind to wake up early enough to do a 15 minute work-out, prepare for work and leave home early so as to be punctual to work, for once.
But, your bed feels so warm and cozy.
You close your eyes again. You know you have to make a decision.
You can take the easy way out, hit snooze and go back to sleep…
Or take the highest road, get up, work out, shower and get going.

The choice is yours and only yours… What will it be?

Every single day, we’re faced with countless little decisions like this one.
In these moments, we have to decide between what’s good for us… and what’s easy, comfortable, safe.
Individually, most of these decisions are fairly inconsequential.
But together, they add up. They compound.
And it’s the sum of all these micro-decisions that determines our destiny.
Consistently take the higher road and you’ll achieve your biggest goals, reach greatness, and maybe even change the world.
Take the easy way out too often and you’ll live a life of mediocrity, constantly disappointing yourself… Until one day, you look back in regret, wondering… “What if?”

What is self-discipline?

Self-discipline involves acting according to what you think instead of how you feel in the moment. Often it involves sacrificing the pleasure and thrill of the moment for what matters most in life. Therefore it is self-discipline that drives you to:

Work on an idea or project after the initial rush of enthusiasm has faded away
Go to the gym when all you want to do is lie on the couch and watch TV
Wake early to work on yourself
Say “no” when tempted to break your diet
Only check your social media timeline when you are done working on yourself, spending only a short period of time on it each day

Imagine for a second that there was a switch in your brain that would allow you to efficiently smash through your daily to-do list, eat only foods that are good for you, and never skip a workout again.
How would your life be different then?
You have the power to develop that switch.
Self-discipline and willpower go hand in hand.
Roy F. Baumeister, PhD, author of the book Willpower: Rediscovering the Greatest Human Strength says “willpower is not a personality trait, a skill or a virtue. Instead, it operates like a muscle. And as such, it can be strengthened.”

How?
By implementing the strategies I’m about to share with you. Use them consistently, and you will acquire superhuman willpower, extraordinary self-discipline, and the ability to get anything done on command.

Right here, right now, as you’re reading this, you’re at a crossroads in your life.
You can stick to your old habits and patterns, knowing deep down you’re not living nearly at the level you’re capable of…
Or you can use this article as a springboard towards greatness by implementing the strategies it contains.
Today could be the day you start developing superhuman willpower and discipline.

The choice is yours and only yours… What will it be?

Discipline can give you freedom, freedom from being a slave to your moods, desires and appetites. It is the ability to take action irrespective of your emotional condition. It also implies that you take action according to what you think and not depending upon what you feel. It involves giving up pleasure and thrill which is found in the ‘now’, for the help and contentment of the ‘later’.
It is vital for leadership, better health and lifestyle and for everything. In today’s age of social media distractions and the pace of life being constantly increasing, it has become very significant factor setting apart those who lead and those who are swept away by the gush of the ordinary.
Below are vital steps to take in developing your self-discipline.

to be continued..

Hello GUYS, how is the week going? Stressful? Relax, it is almost over, plus I have some news that will put a smile on your face.

You have probably heard of the upcoming Black Friday sales happening worldwide. Many people do not believe in it. Trust me, if you don't, you should. I personally ordered for items worth over 200 thousand Naira (for myself and on behalf of friends) in last year's edition of Black Friday on Konga alone. And over 95% of the items ordered were delivered within a few days. I chose the "pay on delivery" option of payment so I was rest assured my money was safe.

Mobile phone, TV sets, clothes, home appliances, computers and so on will be on SALE (up to 90% off) starting tomorrow (26th November) on Konga in what they call YAKATA sales which will last for 2 days. Meanwhile, Jumia will have a proper BLACK FRIDAY on the 27th!

Note: all items on sale are of limited quantity, therefore the most juicy of deals will be sold out faster than others. Therefore, you have to be prepared and fast when placing your orders. In light of this challenge, I will like to share an article specially written for the purpose of Black Friday. on how you can benefit fully from it.

NIGERIA BLACK FRIDAY: How to benefit from the biggest sales on KONGA AND JUMIA

Read the post, and follow the instructions and suggestions and you will surely benefit from the 2 days of massive discounts.

Links to the Special Sales pages on each website are also in the post to make your browsing easier.

If you are in need of any help, you can contact me on whatsapp or SMS: 08130146686

Kindly share this message with other loved ones. Remember, Yakata starts 12.00am of 26th November.

lol. same thing happened to me months ago. I gave the seller a bad review and jumia also refunded my money. but since then, the number of sellers of this fake 32 gb memory cards have tripled. Cos of the attractive price of just over 1000 naira, i bought it then to test it. The 1st one i bought actually works well and is full 32gb. So, i made more orders for my friends who were interested. everything, fake!!!!!!! So i asked for a retrieval and refund.

I have no problems with jumia. You as a buyer just have to shine your eyes. Its the sellers (other stores) on jumia that sell fake. If you want a good memory card, stay away from sandisk and advance (unless you are sure they are sold by JUMIA). JUMIA by themself sell brands such as TEAM and TRANSCEND. these are the brands you can trust. Just more expensive.

But really, Jumia needs to ban such items on their site for their own good.
