Good day Nairalanders! @Newmum0615 or any one else who has had their parents, grandparents or in-laws travel with super visa to Canada, can you please advise if they were able and allowed to travel on a one way ticket. We are looking to book a ticket for my MIL but I am concerned (and have read in a few places) that the airline may not permit this even though Canada immigration allows this. Thanks!

Hi All, please i have a question which may have been addressed prior but i just can’t find the specific answers so please pardon me.
My dad has just gotten PPR and he had initially gotten his biometrics in Lagos 2years ago. Now we want to send his passport to Abuja.
1) Will all fees including transmission fee and courier fee be paid via transfer to Canada Logistic Collection Account? Asking this because fee stated on the site is only for one way courier but we want to do two way
2) He does not recall being given a yellow biometric slip, he says maybe just a receipt. Would that suffice or would it be the BVL that was just sent to him that he needs?
3) I can’t find the consent form he needs to fill.
Thanks!!!

What is this valuation for? Proof of Funds?

Not POF. Just read that you have to put value to all the you're bringing in to avoid taxation sort of, i think, and most especially jewelries

Hi all....please I'll like to confirm something. I have been hearing about jewelry valuation from some whatsapp group. Does this apply to all jewelry or strictly gold jewelries? Any ideas please?

Hi Damidamsel, I know your question wasn't directed at me but I have experienced same and it was mainly due to the fact that my phone was on silent mode, and i didnt set call notification to a ringtone, so I don't hear it ring and only notice the missed call when I open the app. Once I removed it from silent mode and changed the notification from my settings, it was okay.

Ok. Thanks a lot.

Thanks to the person that introduced freetones here.

I purchased a number and opted for unlimited calls to and from US/Canada.

Just today i had my first phone interview with a Canadian employer. It was successful but unfortunately the job is starting too close to my landing date next week. Am suppose to meet with the manager and suppose to receiving some further training prior to the start date.

Another employer just contacted me for interview. Hopefully this one would click.

For all those hoping to get a job before leaving... its very possible. Package your resume... apply via indeed, job bank etc

Am landing Ontario next week. Any landed Nairalander with connect to IT jobs... please hook a brother up

Wow...that's awesome....Please if i may ask, i have also been using freetone which worked well at first, only to later realize that it no longer rings but just shows missed calls. I have missed a lot of calls because of this. Did you experience such?

Changed USD into my Gtbank domiciliary account before i left. I travelled with USD$5k only because of the size of my family, honestly I don't even like travelling with that much money. On arrival, got my SIN next day, then proceeded to open bank accounts same day(I went with RBC). Requested a USD account as well as the CAD accounts, then I transferred from my Nigerian dom account to the USD account. Cash was credited into my account within 24hrs. When you consider the time difference it could be up to 48hrs if you miss the window to initiate the transfer in Nigerian time. I had to be careful to initiate the transfer before the GTbank closed their fx transactions for the day or it gets carried over to the next day and extends by a further day or so. And you can move between your CAD and USD accounts as easily as moving cash between your current and savings accounts in Nigeria.

Thanks a lot for this. I have seen all the discussion after this and i believe i know how to go about it now?

Just a short response : you can travel with whatever amount you wish to travel with as long as you declare. Traveling with Over $10k cash is not a crime in Canada. You can also come with a part of it and leave the rest in your Nigerian usd account with an active atm card and/or Internet/mobile banking for transfers. A friend/family member of yours can also help transfer funds to you when you get here. Your choice

Thanks alot

Awesome morning to you all..

Please can anyone help me with info on these 2 things....

What other way can i contact Accra apart from email and CSE (which i have done severally but no response) as i sent our passports (family of 3) to them since Nov 24 and no PUM yet. My husband has a US visa interview next week, 18th, because we plan to spend 2weeks in USA for something important before leaving for Canada. We plan travelling late Feb but there's no other available US appointment before then. Can't believe we are going through this with Accra after spending 6months with LVO and our medicals expire in March.

Also @Ballerz, Please i tried sending you a PM....Please anyone else who can also assist with FRSC letter. Been sending emails to all their emails for over a month now but no response. My brother walked into their office in Abuja and the person he was directed to told him there's no letter like that. Can you imagine?

I just tire...Please any info or help will be highly appreciated.

Yeah i believe so but getting it while working at the same company will say something like 2014 to date, which i believe shouldn't be used for claiming experience later on after he/she has left the company. the circumstances surrounding the date of the reference letter will have changed.

I totally agree . That's why i stated that i got mine after i had left

The question is are you sure youre going to get an ITA within the next six months? What is your current crs estimate as you dont have ielts yet.
1 & 2 is possible to get but they have a time limit which shouldnt be more than three to six months to the day of submission else you'd have to procure another.

As for the pcc, you can get it in an hour or less. Officer Moshood has done Enough wonders for people in this thread.

Without sade further ado, i wish you good luck in your masters program. When you finish you can cross over to canada without visiting Nigeria sef.

Chill. Express entry can wait grin

Applications differ from one another but based on my experience, ref letters do not expire. 4 of the 6 ref letters i used (yea had to merge alot to get the 3yrs max) were gotten since 2014 and i did not get any ADR. However i got them all after i had left the companies.

Hi Please any idea if having a fractured hand will affect my medical check up

No it shouldn't. I have a broken clavicle on my left hand with bent wrist from birth. Basically can't lift it up except to hold a few light things and it's very obvious. Had absolutely no issues with my medical or application as i have PPR already.

grin....just wanted to be sure as i read somewhere that if you are traveling to US from Canada, it's counted as a domestic flight. So was wondering if it's same for reverse so it doesn't pose a problem having US as POE

Thank you everyone for the congratulatory messages. Ire a kari ooo....

So i am back to tell my story after thanking God in church grin

Sorry it's gonna be a long read.......

Began journey in 2014....sent in package late from US and it arrived Canada last day of FSW in December so it was returned untouched .
Put in application in 2015 but got no ITA till it expired a year later.
Like play like play, my friend and i decided to give it a try again and got serious with it.
Had to retake IELTS in Jan 2017 as the previous one had expired. Had a CLB 9
ITA sometime in March but FBI PCC no gree me submit till May 21
Application went thus....
- Used old reference letters from 2014 in addition to one i got for my last job that ended in 2015
- Current work is a self-employed job so I included intro letter with company letterhead, invoices for jobs done, letter from client attesting to work done, tax receipt and clearance, TIN number, company's 6 months bank statement and bank letter
- Hubby transferred 100% of the POF to my personal account and did a deed of gift. I included the 6months statement and letter from bank (No statement from hubby)
- My husband had had more than one US visa refusal and we both have 2 UK refusals among others but i stated only one each out of ignorance and did not fill Schedule A but included copies of refusal letters i could find and didn't bother about the ones i could not find
- I uploaded 2 of my reference letters in the wrong placeholder
- I forgot to include letters of non- indebtedness from banks
.
.
Amongst others...

Med passed on June 29 and application Document review changed to "We do not need Additional Documents"
IP1 on June 30

Requested first gcms note one month after AOR where i saw on the notes that REVIEW REQUIRED based on statutory questions answered....this was where i realized that the canada visa refusal i stated for hubby was not his first and thus his file showed he had once applied before that
- I raised a CSE to state that i had forgotten about the first application
- I later raised another CSE to upload letters of non-indebtedness and to state corrections about letters uploaded in the wrong placeholder
- I raised another CSE explaining that I did not know I had to state all visa refusals even if they were from the same country. I then listed them out one after the other

I requested another gcms note a month later where i saw the note stating that i had mixed up my IELTS scores
- I quickly recalculated my CRS score using the correct mix and saw that I still had the same CRS score
- I raised a CSE stating the error, correcting it and resubmitted a copy of my IELTS result

File was transferred to LVO on Aug 15
Requested another gcms note in October only to find out my file was never touched since FTD
Emailed LVO on Nov 15 and was told my application was awaiting review

Emailed again on Nov 20 that my application was 6months (though less 1 day). Got response that it was in process
Emailed again on 22nd and CC'd Ottawa.
Emailed Ottawa on 23rd and checked my CIC account one hour later only to see i had moved to IP2 after 5months ( Skipped NA)
GOT PPR ONE HOUR LATER

In all, no single ADR....

Baba God did it!!!

Please can one stopover in USA before heading to Canada?

Congrats Alexandergreat & damidamsel. Nice!

@Damidamsel, could you confirm if you've got at least one work experience in the required NOC of one year or more?

I think it's pretty clear that one can combine NOCs towards express entry. What I'm not certain about is if one can combine different NOCs towards FSW.

Yes@cochtrane, i had a job with one year experience.

The much awaited.....

PPR is here!!!!

AOR: May 21
MP: June 29
IP1: June 30
.
.
.
.
IP2: Nov 23
PPR: Nov 23

Super elated. Just can't keep calm.
Application had some ish but God was true to His Word. Will come back with details for the benefit of others after calming down. Lol

One thing i can answer now though is....Yes one can combine different experiences at different NOCs except C to get the 3years experience....at least it worked for me.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed immensely to this thread. Couldn't have done it without the huge amount of info on here. E-hugzzzz

Blackbuddy:

Dependent age has been increased per Canadian immigration truly but a second thought makes me approach this situation differently in that the person in question here is not currently a dependent. So a 2-pronged approach may be adopted;

1. Institute formal adoption process so that you can have some documentation to show/support the bid to have the person added to the family's PR application. Adoption process may take time so start it as soon as possible
2. Continue with the school admission process as a back up plan to ensure the guy is not unduly separated from the family

Hope this helps.

It does. ....thanks. smiley

A beautiful morning to you all.....

Chai...wish i was about to give my PPR testimony speech, e for sweet. Lol grin. Coming soon....

On the contrary, I'll like to find out on behalf of a friend if it's possible to adopt an 18 year old orphaned nephew and add to their application. The nephew has been living with them for a long time now. Their application has been submitted and they are at NA2 and POF is more than enough to accommodate another person. If possible, please how can they go about it? The parents' death certificates are available.

Thanks as i await all your responses
