By Abiodun Alade, @biodunpen The Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri, has berated the governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola for allegedly budgeting a whopping 18.6 billion for the running of his office while workers in the state are yet to be paid salary since October 2014. It will be recalled that in January, during the budget defense at the State House of Assembly, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, the Chief of Staff to Governor Aregbesola, disclosed that the budget for the Governor’s Office for 2015 is N18,645,514,610. reno-omokriAccording to Oyetola, N1,159,000,000 is expected to be expended on salaries, allowances and other remuneration of career officers and political office holders in the Office of the Governor. The sum of N3,775,000,000 is expected to be spent on general administration of bureaus and agencies in the Office of the Governor, as part of overhead costs. The payment of salaries to the Governor, the Deputy Governor, Judges, the State Independent Electoral Commission and others would gulp N2billion. On Tuesday, civil servants in Osun State staged a protest against the alleged non-payment of five months salaries by the state government. The workers, led by the Chairman of the Trade Union Congress in the state, Mr. Olatunji Akinyemi, marched through the Osogbo/Gbongan road, chanting anti-government songs. RenoOsunThe workers said that apart from the failure of the Governor Rauf Aregbesola -led administration to pay them the outstanding salaries, the same government had refused to remit pension deducted from their previous salaries to their various retirement savings accounts. They claimed that the governor was busy spending the state’s resources on campaigns of the All Progressives Congress and left workers to suffer untold hardship Omokri, took to his Twitter page, on Wednesday, to question the manner of change been promoted by the All Progressives Congress, APC, if one of its governors cannot pay workers’ salaries, describing it as a foretaste of the change APC promises “Imagine the reaction if a PDP Gov budgets 18.6 Billion for his office yet cant to pay workers #whatmannerofchange? ” he posted on his twitter page. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/03/omokri-berates-aregbesola-you-budget-18-6-billion-for-your-office-yet-cant-pay-workers-for-5-months/ The money is much though considering the nonpayment of salary but you should give us info about what Fayose used forthe same period and Oyinlola before Aregbesola |
The Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has said he deserves commendation for building the Moshood Abiola International Airport at Ido-Osun, Osun State, for N11.5bn. A consultant to the state government on information, Mr. Sunday Akere, who spoke on behalf of the governor, said this in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Tuesday. He said the contract was not inflated to siphon the state’s resources as alleged by the Peoples Democratic Party. He said the increase in the contract sum was necessitated by the inflation caused by the fall of the naira. Akere said, “The PDP in Osun should be ignored, they are just seeking relevance. They should find out how much PDP states like Akwa Ibom, Gombe and others built their airports. “When former President Goodluck Jonathan was in power, he said he added an additional airstrip to the Nnamdi Azikiwi International Airport, Abuja with N36bn. We should be commended for building an airport with N11.5bn. “If we are building a complete airport with a hanger and other facilities for N11.5bn, then we should be commended. The governor deserves commendation.” Akere also said the initial cost of the airport was underestimated. But the PDP accused the governor of increasing unilaterally the contract sum of the airport from N4.5bn to N15.5bn. The Director of Media and Strategy of the Osun PDP, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, said this in a statement on Sunday. The statement read, “We are aware that Governor Rauf Aregbesola, on January 8, 2016 through a letter with reference number SP/S96/1/vi/348 re-awarded the airport contract to the same contractor and a payment of N472m was paid as take-off sum. “The same company had earlier been paid N2.7bn for the same project without any serious work done on the project. The PDP also accused the governor of inflating the contract sum in order to embezzle the bailout funds it got from the Central Bank of Nigeria. The opposition party lamented that workers in the employ of the state were languishing in hunger as a result of unpaid salaries. The party had said, “We are calling on the President and anti-graft agencies to send a secret team to the site of the so-called Moshood Abiola International Airport, Ido-Osun, to confirm what the government and the airport company had done with the N2.7bn taken from the purse of the state on December 14, 2012. “Out of the amount, N2.5bn was sourced as a loan from a bank to be repaid monthly at N100m from the SURE-P funds. That loan is now part of the N88bn restructured for the state by the Central Bank for repayment till the year 2034.” Punch |
anonimi:can you give the details of the news concerning running his office. That's how punch posted an headline saying GOVERNMENT SPENDING BILLIONS ON ARMOURED CARS IN RECESSION. only to discover they are referring to bullet proof cars used by Aregbesola even before becoming the governor of Osun He was right concerning his statement about salary. he used to pay before 25th of the month but it doesn't mean he doesn't not need d federal allocation to pay salaries. you can buy manuals with you own money when you're assured of getting your money back but not when u have no hope |
anonimi:Thanks for the correction. I never attended any school in Osun for your information. Fayose owes five months salary with only a street lights project. But Aregbesola who knows the value of Education and real development did his best to achieve it but was restricted by the low federal allocation you could say why not increase IGR. He absolutely did his best by increasing it from 300 million to around 1 billion making Osun 11th among states with with highest igr. He owes junior workers 2 months and senior workers same plus an arrears of 1 year half payment. If you can show a single project apart from the lights of Fayose I will show you 5 of Aregbesola's. He also employed more than 12 k teachers. How many did Fayose employed? You're just commenting with sentiment but I'm telling you facts |
have he done half of Aregbesola's project?
|
the pictures below are few of his completed projects

kaystick86:Did you ever visit the site? if no then don't ever comment on need related to Osun. For me Aregbesola is still the best governor in Nigeria. He is a visionary leader that seeks a long lasting solution to a problem rather than solve immediate problem and cause chaos in future. For those saying y half salary. when Aregbesola was receiving enough fed allocation btwn 4-5 billion he used to pay salaries b4 d end of the month. yet there's no level of seriousness in most civil servants. if commitment is proportional to income then public school teachers should be serious than their private counterparts paid meagre money. Osun workers are more than 40 k and gulp a total amount of 3.6 billion which is more than the federal allocation combined with igr. on issue of IGR D monthly igr used to be 300 million and he increased it to 1.5 billion before dropping back to 700 million in recession. and he's making efforts to increase it to about 5 billion. he met with NLC and other civil service stakeholders before he signed an MOU with NLC to pay full salary for level 1 to 7 workers and senior workers salary half pending the time the economy of the state will be back to normal. If you're not in osun state don't comment out of hatred or political affiliation |
I have exam tomorrow too. I called the number in the email but I can't reach them. what can I do? Is it a must to attend the ceremony |
please someone should advise me on what to do. I have a 3 unit course exam on the award ceremony day. I'm confused on what to do since I've been invited. If I don't attend the ceremony does that means I won't be awarded the scholarship |

I have decided to join issues with you as I see you seem given to good reasoning. I quite agree with you that nations are not developed overnight. Yes I agree with you that developmental strides in the life of a nation does take time…but then, isnt it then paradoxical that Jona is undoing the little achievements of the past instead of building on those of previous office holders? And I speak specifically in the area of corruption which you might agree with me is the singular plague bedeviling the Nigerian state today. Yes corruption was always there…it didnt start with jona but for me, and regardless of what many may say, previous govts were able to make some progress regarding this issue…… i.e Obasanjos govt. Some say his fight against corruption was selective…I say selective or not, there was still a fight for all to see going on! And that so called selective fight had its patently obvious benefits, regardless of what many may want to say to condemn it! I will always remember the casual conversation I had with a police sergent on the streets of Lagos the next day after the then inspector general of police, Tafa Balogun was taken to court in handcuffs on national TV the previous night. He said wow!! to see our IG in handcuffs and taken to court??!! He said he never thought that he would live to see such a day in his life time as a Nigerian! He said I should have come to their station this morning as everyone of them was shaken and dombfounded to their boots that its no longer buisness as usual o! Well, my friend, for whatever its worth, selective as it was, it had that little effect!!! If only others came and built on it! Tafa Balogun was a yoruba man like obasanjo and at the end of the day, he admitted his guilt that he stole money meant for the ordinary policeman on the street and he even refunded the monies! And you know the interesting thing, this was money meant for both yoruba policeman, south-south policeman, hausa policeman, mind you, he didnt discriminate and say, please only give me monies meant for all other tribes apart form yoruba policemen!…so that they can have the neccesary bullet-proof vests to go out and fight crime without dieing. No he didnt, he chopped all regardless of tribe…and yet you see people on these forum saying south- south, yoruba, hausa etc Again, let me remind you that they say it was selective! Now i must say that I dont give two monkeys about Segun Obasanjo, but history will record it that he was the president who achieved that…however selective it was! Rather than successivve governments to build on it….they have sadly turned back the hands of the clock! Jonathans presides over a very very widely corrupt govt. I make no qualms to repeat that for me, I do not know Mr Jonathan personally, and I have nothing against him as a person! If anything, i percieve him as a very humble gentleman of easy going disposition unlike the brash mannered obasanjo! But sorry, thats just not good enough! The destiny of the federal republic lies in his hands and he has very simply not done enough to salvage it by fighting that thing which keeps Nigeria perpetually underdeveloped called corruption. The biggest example and I say only an example, is stella oduahs continued presence in the cabinet. Any presidents cabinet is the face of that president. Since oduah was indicted, Jona said nothing for weeks and when his silence became so deafening in the face of such a huge public outcry, it was only very reluctantly that he came out and said he was ordering an investigation…report of investigation was submitted 7 wks ago and jona is still pervericating and patently and manifestly corrupt Oduah still continues to be his face! And you say right thinking and decent people should approve of his performance or want him re-elected! Its just such a shame! Answer me truthfully I beg of you, in saner climes, will such a public officer continue to be in office? Right or wrong, they will first be required to resign or step back so that the publics confidence in the president can be maintained! Look at that minister in the UK who had to resign simply for allegedly calling a policeman names. He has been a personal friend of the prime minister for upwards of 30yrs!!! Yet he simply had to resign even though it pained the UK prime minister to see him go! But he realised that for the greater and common good of public confidence in his government, he had to let his friend go! Well then my friend, what about that?! SOme say Oduah organised so many votes for Jona and others say a whole lot of other things…but the truth is….a manifestly and patently corrupt official remains the face of Jonas govt and you say people should not be disillusioned with Jona How manymore undetected Oduahs remain in his govt, your guess is as good as mine! I know some will tell me no others exists…some will even argue and say….yes na, but no be we start am na! others will say, but na south-south turn to chop na! And yet a few more will say but Yorubas too chop their own na…while a good few others will say but na hausa people start am! But yet the pot holes that exist on the roads as a result of corruption and cause a whole lot of road accidents that kill innocent people and make many fatherless and motherless or childless dont discriminate when its time to cause death…the substandard general hospitals across the lenght and breadth of Nigeria cant tell the difference between south-south man and a yoruba man when they bring them in and no adequate medical supplies to treat them due to the fact that Mr minister of health in abuja has chopped his tribes turn…and funny enough, the minister might even be from south-south and yet the common south- south man is dieing at the general hospitals waiting area and cant be treated cos he has no money to pay or there are too few doctors or nurses or the workers there just cant be bothered because they are so disillusioned with the system that they have decided that their own way of chopping too is to simply collect pay and do as little work as possible……and yes the armed robbers too dont discriminate when they resort to robbing due to no employment opportunities…and ofcourse the police too dont discriminate when time comes for them to respond to a call from your neighbourhood that armed robbers are operating there and they dont turn up because they do not have patrol vehichles and ammuinitions due to the fact that Oga at the top has decided to chop his own turn and yes indeed, hunger and misery do not also discriminate when its time for them to turn up and torture that old pensioner whose pension some in Abuja have used to drink and womanise simply because they are also chopping their regions turn! Perhaps my friend, you might now see a need for us all to be objective and hold our office holders to account regardless of their tribe or ethnicity. Note; I copied this from a comment on punch.I would have added the name of the writer but the writer failed to add his name.. Good Question. Islam as a religion encompasses everything you need to know spiritually, morally and physically . Prophet Muhammad taught us that mentally ill people are free from religious activities and will therefore not be judged in their state of insanity. They will be judged based on their deeds before their illness. Children who are not matured enough to have no record to judge on but their parents are responsible for their deeds since they are in charge of the upbringing of their child. If the person have not reach maturity before meeting this calamity. He or she is free from judgement and thus will be granted Paradise if Allah will. |
Evil Brain: How did Noah fit 2 million insects (1 million species x 2) into the ark? And how did be manage to fit 12,000 amphibians, 20,000 birds, 11,000 mammals, 16,000 reptiles and god knows how many crustaceans, arachnids and mollusks into a boat that must have already been overflowing with insects? Where did he find space to keep a years worth of food for all those animals? How did he keep the meat for the Lions, tigers and other carnivores fresh for a whole year? Why did he take mosquitoes, tapeworms, guinea worms and the HIV virus aboard the ark? Did he infect himself with all those parasites, or did he force his wife and children to carry them? How come all the animals didn't freeze to death at 9,000 metres altitude (the height of Mount Everest which must have been underwater) Where did they find oxygen to breathe at that height? What did all the animals eat after getting off the ark? All the plants must have died after a year underwater, and all the animals would have drowned so no food for herbivores or carnivores. How come all the fish in the ocean survived? Saltwater fish can't survive in freshwater and the ocean would have been massively diluted with all that rain. Or did the ark also have a salty fish tank with space for 60,000 fish (30,000 species x 2)? And how did he feed all those fish? The bible story of univrsal flood is a great fallacy, Egyptians and many oder tribes live @ d dat age and have no experience of flood. Also scientist revealed that there have been no time of universal flood. Quran also confirmed that the flood is restricted to the tribe of Noah only. Scientists also confirm the existience of th flood @ d location of the tribe of Noah as written in d bible |
