These players chosen have displayed consistency in individual display of brilliance with footie throughout 2010. Schneider, as i keep saying, has benefited from good coaching and a defensive team play while only him stays at the heart of driving the attack.
I quite agree that Iniesta's inclusion could be questionable but Fifa did not choose him. Fifa only collated results of votes from coaches and players around the world (since the selection criteria have been changed these days). The voters must have considered the scorer of a world cup winning goal
ahead of a player that benefited from excellent coaching and team play. In individual performance, I can consider Milito ahead of Schneider (taking the treble winning goals into consideration)
Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Schneider is not a good player; in fact I consider him as one of the best players right now and I personally, am a fan. Maybe he should be in the top three; but sometimes, as voters (humans) you might overlook the brilliant performances of Schneider in the first half of 2010 as his performance in the last few months had been poor, making you think his last season's performance was a fluke.

Okay, Finally, maybe we should change the topic of this thread to "Messi or Xavi: Who will win The BallonD'or?", so we can have peace.

Dayo, check the link properly. the writer rates Schneider ahead of Iniesta clearly. He/She actually condemns selecting Iniesta ahead of Schneider.
The link is not for you that already believe Schneider should not win. It is simply for people like Folahan that thinks Schneider is all in all.

2010 calendar year does not end after the world cup. Schneider's outstanding performance ended after the world cup. Unfortunately his performance at the world cup could not earn him a world cup winning medal. Diego Forlan's individual performance outclassed Schneider's if we won't deceive ourselves. should we now say Diego Forlan should be the world footballer of the year. For 5 months now, Schneider has been under-performing and that's why his team currently lies in the 5th position in the serie A. Obviously he benefited immensely from Mourinho style of coaching, which we all know is exceptional.
My point is; there is a player that has consistently shown outstanding top-class performance throughout  2010. He won the league with a record 99 point in 2010 (in continuation to the 6 trophies won in 2009), he won the highest ranking footballing event, the FIFA world cup in this same 2010. He didn't stop there, he inspired his Barca team into a 5-nil victory by defeating the best-playing team in Europe (and the best acclaimed coach), Real Madrid as at then. In fact, he started the goal feast. Right now, his team, with his help, sits on top of the la liga table after finishing atop group D in the UCL. This player should win the award.
so, the Ballon d'or is for the best player in 2010 and not for the best player in midway 2010. Moreover, Schneider is not a world cup winner and this is a world cup year.

It is about who wins the Ballon d'or. Okay, we've heard you all. Schneider is supposed to be on the list but doesn't deserve to win. Its simple, just have in your own head that Schneider was nominated in the last 3. It doesn't matter if he doesn't win anyway.

A world cup winner always wins the award every world cup year. 2010 is a word cup year, Xavi won the world cup.
I don't understand how you'd want Schneider to win the award for the best footballer in 2010. 2010 does not end at after the world cup. Schneider has not been consistent for 5 months since after the world cup in this same 2010. The same point that negates my favorite Iniesta from winning the award just because of inconsistent performance in early 2010 (even though injury affected him) is the same point that disqualifies Schneider from the award just because of his poor form at the latter end of 2010.
so, if the award is truly for the best player in 2010, the award should go to a player that was consistent throughout the 12 months in 2010. And the winner is Xavi Hernandez.

But come to think of it; Xavi's team played against Schneider's team 5 times last season with the world cup inclusive. Xavi won three of those matches with Schneider winning only once at San siro. Xavi was arguable the best midfielder in the 3 matches won by him. So, going by head to head, you tell me the winner.
Xavi has survived a consistent top class performance under different coaches. It had to take the best of a coach like J.M to bring out the career best out of Schneider. Can we say this is the same Schneider we used to know, now that he is under that slowpoke called Benitez. If Madrid had enough confidence in Schneider, he wouldn't have been ejected the way he was.
Xavi is a player that has won it all. Everything in football that can be won by Xavi has been won; Euro, World cup, Treble, 7 out of 7 in a year.
Xavi has been hot since ages and he is still hot (you can ask J.M and Real Madrid) and if there is any footballer in the world that wants to compete with Xavi, for the Ballon, it should not be a midfielder that has been outclassed by Xavi on a head to head basis.
