I didn't receive your email.

I won't advise a furnished apartment. You'll probably only get those at CBD and surrounding surburbs anyway, and they will be expensive (probably not less than$550/pw).

You could maybe send another email or drop your phone number.
Thank you.

My biggest concern is that our sponsor is not providing temporary accommodation, but we might have to result to air bnb for a week so we look for accommodation when we are on

[quote author=Alexxiss post=82270579]Get accomodation in the south (you may want to check out surburbs like Durack). Houses there are cheaper. There are more Nigerians/Africans living in the south. You will have access to cheaper daycare run by Nigerians/Africans, unless you are ready to pay nothing less than $100per day(coz that's what you'll pay since your visa isn't entited to childcare subsidy).

Thank you Alexxiss, i have gone ahead to search for houses in durack, but none of them is furnished. pls i sent you an email, kindly respond plssssssssssssss, so we don't clog the thread.

2nd missionary journey finally over.

Mum Visa

I asked for opinion wen I applied for my mum visa, she was actually denied without them checking anything,so what i did was to write the consular on her behalf nd I also sent a mail to the consular that I have a toddler nd expecting a baby and I need my mum assistance. I also booked emergency appointment, I attached d receipt for Doctor and hospital, so the appointment was approved and her visa was granted with her saying d same thing as previous interview and they did not check anything.

Birthing
I had my baby Oct 1 at oakbend and used Dr Ezekiel, dat morning I saw the bloody show and contraction was regular, so I called my Bro to take me to the hospital, wen we got there we were gisting so the nurse was looking at us like jokers, Wen dey took me to d room to check how many cm I was dilated nd she saw 4cm with regular contractions, she was surprised cos we were laughing nd making  jokes, I refused to take epidural ooo and seriously it wasn't a bad experience, the only time I almost gave in to epidural was wen I was given oxytocin to quicken d process but thank God it ended in praise.

Dr fee- $1,900
Hospital- $2,300
B&A  - $92
Pead- $335
Lab - $119

After discharge we used hope clinic on bellaire and hg6 for baby follow up  paid $30

Picked up baby's bcert on d 4th from Fort bend county and booked appointment at downtown for baby's passport and was asked to pick up d 3rd day.

Thanks to this wonderful E-family, I used visa on arrival, special thanks to De-soul who helped with it a day b4 our travel date. My advice to others is dat ensure the letter from Nigeria comes from an email, cos dat was d only thing that wanted to cause problem.

Baggage

Hmmm, thank God I belong to this forum ooo, Egonne1 already gave heads up on how emirates delayed her bags and advised we snap our bags. funny enough I checked in  13bags, (Note: if u pay for extra bag on emirates that bag can weigh 32kg not d regular 23kg.) while snapping I gave up but one of d ones I snapped got missing and we were told it's in dubai and it will come d next day, all for them to call me that they are having problems recovering d bag dat I should fill d claim form nd all, I had receipts for  all d items and pictures so I sent to them, and my bag was recovered 2 days after. Thanks to the picture they were able to recover d bag on time.

Me I don hang my boot o.

What's the procedure please? Leaving soon and don't mind using this option if its straightforward.

babythug:
Hello everyone

Just to mention I successfully used the visa on arrival option for my baby a few weeks back! The key thing is to arrive at the airport early and explain that you will get the visa in Nigeria, have the baby's birth certificate on hand as well. It costs 200 dollars even though the official rate is 160 dollars

Good luck

I flew Qatar airways

Dear Good people, Our bundle of joy arrived on the 2nd of October at Oakbend Medical Center. Dr E took the delivery. DW and LO are doing great. We were discharged yesterday. I'll post the cost breakdown soonest.

Who has a contact for a lesser cost ($30-$60) pediatrician around Sugarland or Richmond Avenue. Assist a brother. Dollar aint smiling mehn.
I guess you are the one that came with ur DW for d discharge class.

You can try hope clinic on highway 6. We were dere today and they charged $30.

PTA Hustle:

Started looking for since June all to no avail, I opened account in almost all d banks, I must confess it was frustrating.

How I got my funds.

A darling friend and mum on this thread was going on vacation, so she and hubby got $8,000 and they sold $2,000 to me at N310

Thanks to my mum too she had $4,000 in her domiciliary account and I begged her to sell to me she refused, after seeing all d whala I was going thru she begged me to come and take it sef and offcourse I got it cheap.

On my travel date got to d airport early so I can get from travelex, after checking in we got there and the claimed they ran out of funds and they were expecting but can't disclose the time the funds will get there for security reasons, I stood there since around 2 till past 5 and this money no come ooo.

But as you know the Nigeria situation, people who knows who were coming right in front of us and they were taken to d back door to give them what they claimed to have exhausted.

School for thought: They said they can sell to you with the online boarding pass, so you can as well try hustling with that a day b4 ur flight. Just check in 24hrs b4 ur flight date.

Goodluck.

2nd missionary journey fully activated.
Travelled on Sunday with my son used Emirates and he was of his best behaviour, did not stress me at all
Came in through almighty Houston POE
POE Experience:

CBP: hello madam what are you here for (starring at my stomach)

Me: Am here to have my baby

CBP: so u had him here also

Me: Yes

CBP: did you pay ur bills?

Me: offcourse I did

CBP: how much cash do you have with you today?

Me: $5,900

CBP: he wrote I/A on my customs card ( immediately I knew it was time for secondary inspection) he said madam step forward an officer will come for you.

When I got into the room, it was full with all sort of people waiting to be called, I sitted for a while and an officer came out and called all nursing mothers into a room, but my son was well behaved and no one noticed us, we just maintained our sit, I was surprised when I heard my name after about 15 mins.

2nd CBP Officer: we exchanged pleasantries. And he asked what am here for?

Me: to have my baby

2nd CBP Officer: so how much do u have with u?

Me: $5,900

2nd CBP Officer: you had you first son here? Yes. Did u pay ur bills? Yes I did. Can I see the receipts please? I gave it to him, then he asked for a receipt showing the total amount paid

Me: I told him there is nothing of such, that you pay different health providers for services they have provided so there is no way to get a cumulative bill.

2nd CBP Officer: oh I get it . And he stamps me and off I went.

I headed to agric cos I declared food and I told the man there I have food only in one bag and he asked me to open d bag, I had onion noodles and Oriental(one over sabi read the back of Oriental and discovered there is chicken written on d ingredients) and they were going to seize it, I just told them d chicken is only in d spice, dat can they take out the spice and give me d noodles, which they agreed to, they also seized my knowr.

2nd Testimony

Hubby went for his interview on Thursday.

After exchanging pleasantries.

VO: what are u going to do in the US

DH: To join my wife for d delivery of our baby.

VO: Then he started asking him what he went for in d countries he has previously travelled to

DH: official training

VO: he handed over the white paper to him and told him to pick up in 3 days.

No document was checked not even bank statement. After doing whala to go and pay Doctor fee and hospital fee d previous day and he had to print at the embassy that morning. In all we grateful to God and the wonderful people of this thread.
Coming back to share my mum visa testimony next week by God's grace.

Thanks guys.

Pls I need help from the gurus in d house.

When I had my first baby in 2014, my mum nd dad applied for us visa to go with me to have my baby, unfortunately they were denied but guess that because my dad came with her, since he said he can't leave his wife alone.

I have d following docs prepared for her interview, her bank statement since she's sponsoring herself, 1st missionary journey receipt, my visa page, her gtb receipt.

@ijeomaobi1 Thanks for your response, am following the thread, I tried contacting first bank as regards the Ria posted sometimes this week but they said they don't send they only receive, have also contacted someone in access bank for help but she promised to get back to me on Monday, just scared cos I don't have account with access.

Moneygram is almost same as blackmarket, since am going through houston I would rather have my cash with me alongside oda burden of proof.

@Chirolechick stanbic is only giving those who have account with them for 2months and my account will be barely 2months b4 my travel date, Although a wonderful mum on this thread got from stanbic and sold $2,000 to me cos she's going on vacation.

Sometimes in Feb this year I discovered baby No 2 was on the way and I started reading again, I renewed via dropbox and was ready for them to call me cos I read @favoredgal and @lollarojo experience, surprisingly I was not called but got my visa issued after 4 working days and in this 4 days I was gathering all sorts of burden of proof to head to the embassy.
God bless u all for ur contributions.
