Calm down bro...
Female hate.....lol
It seems you have a thing for Nicole, I'm not judging....
Nicole Kidman was just an example, replace her with Jolie, Stone, Aniston, whatever point still stands..
Nicole isn't as relevant as she was back in the 90's
She played up to her sex symbol in movies like Eyes wide shut and Batman forever.
That's the point....
No wants to see a sexualized Kidman in this time..
i repeat, she's still a sex symbol. she showed full nudity in BIG LITTLE LIES.

Brad was basically shirtless for the girls in Once upon a time....
wouldn't call that a hardman role at all.
You mentioning bourne of over a decade ago...
Matt Damon was selling Cars in Ford vs Ferrari, not exactly a hard man role either
seems like we both have different interpretations of what constitutes a hard man.

in my own understanding, a hard man role is a tough guy role. brad pitt played a tough guy in ONCE UPON A TIME...

matt damon reprised jason bourne 3 years ago. he was 46 years old.

https://mspoweruser.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/jason-bourne.jpg

fyi. a hardcore race driver is a tough guy role.

The pic i posted is Kidman without make up.The one you posted is Kidman with make up.Doesn't matter though she is now old and wrinkled that is why she ain't a box office draw no more. The people have spoken
bro it goes beyond that.

in movie and television industry, it's a common occurrence to strip beautiful actresses down to their basest versions through makeup so that they can fit their roles to a t.

this is chalize theron in 2003

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/3c/a4/18/3ca4181ac84a05b258603e70423a85d9.jpg

if not that i knew she played the lead role in that movie, i wouldn't have recognized her.

another top example is patricia arquette.

this is her in 2018...

this is her in EXCAPE AT DANNEMORA (2018) & THE ACT (2018)

notice the difference?

this is exactly what happened to nicole kidman in that pic kendrick93 posted.

Wouldn't call it sexism really.
Truth is generally Men can still be fit and good looking going into 40s-50s. than the ladies...
Also you have to factor movie goer's.... No one wants to see a 50yr old Nicole Kidman in a bikini acting all lovey lovey roles....
At the end of the day, movies are there to sell tickets and make money
puh-leeze...

very sexist comment. what is it with nairalanders and female hatehuh

nicole kidman doesn't look her age at all. she looks early 40ish. she is still a sex symbol in some circles.

there are alot of middle aged hollywood actresses that don't look their age and look even younger than younger male actors.

kendrick93:
Is Brad Pitt a hard man
or will smith or Matt Damon or Christian Bale, etc....
Truth is the guys get more top roles when in their mid 30s to 50s..
Same can't be said for the women..
There was a time the Nicole Kidman, Jolie, Sandra Bullock etc, ruled the screen but they've aged and no longer in demand like they were before...
Margot Robbie is the current 'It'.
Why are you finding it hard to accept i wouldn't know
brad pitt recently played a hard man role in ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD and has been playing that role intermittently all his life.

matt damon became a household name by portraying jason bourne (a hard man role) and reprised the role several year later when he was well into his 40s. he played a villain in INTERSTELLAR and has been playing a hard man intermittently all his life.

will smith is synonymous with hard man roles. he only knows how to play them.

christian bale recently played a hard man in FORD VS FERRARI.

yes, guys generally get more leading role than gals in hollywood for the fact that it's a boy's club, but saying that female actors cease to be relevant when they are middle aged is just sheer ignorance.

google the following; julianne moore, helen mirren, laura dern, laura linney, renee zellweger, cate blanchett to get acquainted with reality.

middle aged women are still leading films, just because their films fly under the radar doesn't mean they are not popular anymore. in the right circles and demographic they are still very much popular.
TV/MoviesRe: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by DandeNumeruno(m):
kendrick93:
Those Ladies were sex symbols and they owned it to the fullest....
Same goes for the men but it's a bit different cos the guys can still headline a blockbuster well into their 50s
i've already explained this in another post....

the reason there are more male middle aged actors leading blockbusters than female actors is because middle aged female actors look unconvincing in hard man roles, but go to other genres that don't call their physical prowess into account, and they are very much relevant.

Maybe the words 'It Girl' has you confused.
An "it girl" is an attractive young woman, generally a celebrity, who is perceived to have both sex appeal and a personality that is especially engaging.

Most of these actresses he listed were once the 'It girls' in Hollywood.
so basically sex symbols shey? so how did i miss the pointhuh

you do know a lot of male actors fall into that definition, right?
TV/MoviesRe: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by DandeNumeruno(m):
toluxe0075:
Whether you like the word he used or not, it's the truth and reality of Hollywood.
why i had issues with his labelling is the fact that this phenomenon is not restricted to female actors only, it also happens to men. age affects all irrespective of gender.

a middle aged female star will not look convincing in their hard man role like their male counterparts so this is why there is no tom cruise female equivalent in the industry right now, but in other genres that don't task them physically, there are so many middle aged female actors still very relevant.

renee zellweger just won an oscar after coming back from retirement to name a few.

don't mind the guy, he's misogynistic and delusional.

it's nothing short of ridiculous to compare some of the most accomplished hollywood actresses to a rising starlet.

his invention, the so called "it girls" is cringey asf. it's embarrassing that a grown man will coin a phrase to label actresses that have reached the pinnacle of their careers and are role models to up and comers. such disrespect. such misogyny.

i wish i can slap some sense into that morafucka through the internet ah swear.

She was at the peak of her popularity and fame in the mid to late 90s when she was married to Tom cruise. After her divorce, she had a hit movie called Moulin rouge and won an Oscar for The hours.Since then, the only movie i remember seeing her in was Lion and the tv show Big lil lies. She also played the mother of Jason momoa in Aquaman...a 38 year old at the age of 50
this is a woman that has won an academy award, 5 golden globes and other numerous awards. please put a respek on her name.

categorizing every a-list or ex a-list hollywood actresses as "it girls" is misogynistic.

what if i take the "it girls" and turn it to "it boys", who do you think will make the list? i'll tell you who will make the list; all the legends will make the list including daniel day-lewis.

every actor both male and female is ambitious and strive to be the best. some make it big while some don't. some become less popular/relevant as they grow older while some don't. some pick up directing to supplement their acting income, while some don't.

all in all, that's life. it doesn't need a label.
TV/MoviesRe: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by DandeNumeruno(m): 10:07am On Mar 04, 2020

I understand how you feel.Hollywood usually has "it girls" that are very popular for a while then their popularity wanes as they get older.Margot is just another name on a long list of "it girls" which includes Brigitte Bardot,Liz taylor,Sophia Loren, Winona Ryder,Heather locklear,Gwyneth Paltrow,Demi moore,Jennifer aniston,Michelle pfeiffer,Julia Roberts,Angelina jolie,Sharon stone,Christina applegate,Jennifer Lawrence,Nicole kidman etc
remove nicole kidman from that list.

she is geniunely talented and still very relevant in the industry.

Motherless Brooklyn (2019)

This movie would have been a lot better with a better director. Some shots are these amazing noir-feeling compositions, but then others are plenarily flat, and all were edited together very poorly. The entire plot meanders, there was no urgency to anything. It really kills the murder plot it follows, as there seems to be no pressure behind the mystery.

Performances were pretty good. Edward Norton's character has Tourette, but he doesn't let that stop him and tries to live as normal a life as possible. Mbatha-Raw and Dafoe were also great in this.

Overall, I enjoyed it for the most part, but like I said at the beginning, the movie would have been a whole lot better with an experience director at the helm. It was Norton's directorial debut, and you could tell.

C+
edward norton's tourette provided the comic relief.

you were right tho, the mystery lacked urgency.

at a point i started to question the point of the whole thing.

even the end didn't bring the kind of justice i wanted

i was relieved when the film finally ended.

would not recommend.

Fam, I have called it long ago on this thread.

It just has to happen and Saul will take in her daughter.
not if carrie's sister, maggie, is alive and well.

she's the better fit to take care of her niece if carrie kicks the bucket.

maggie raised franny when carrie was busy doing spy stuff in the middle east, so in the instance that carrie would die, i expect her to step up and reintegrate franny into her own family.
