DrDax:
Spoiler Alert!

I summed it up that SHE, innocent face and all, was the killer of her abuser.

Her husband found the shell hidden away in one of her books after her death.

Yes?
Nah, the lady (Brenda) came upon his trophy box by accident. Every serial killer has one, and in his case, the box was filled with photographs of every woman he had ever murdered, each with varying degree of distress on their faces. He made the decision to silence Brenda permanently after realising that she has seen too much.

However, unlike his previous victims, he had grown to care deeply about Brenda, so her murder tormented him and made him feel remorseful. As a result, he chose not to place her picture in his trophy case with the others.

When Ghat was harvesting his liver, you can see him imagining that his victims were taking his liver.

What is the plot twist?

Seemed pretty straightforward to me.

Fresh storyline though.

Cool movie.
*Spoilers Alert*

Wes did not break up with the woman in the photograph and flashbacks, instead, he murdered her. In short, he was a serial killer.

The twist clearly illustrates that Ghat didn't pick him at random.

House of the motherfvcking Dragon

There is a lot to unpack here. This episode felt particularly good because of the drama. There's a lot of nuance in the characters and how they interacted.

Random thoughts...

* Daemon Targaryen is still the best Targaryen, at least in terms of sheer size of balls and entertainment value.
* I'll admit I'm a little grossed out by the "young" actresses being involved in the sex scenes. Obviously, they are of age in real life, but still.
* Lord Blackwood is no pushover.
* Daemon Targaryen is a master manipulator.
* The sex scenes are steamy without being sleazy.
* This episode has given me a whole new appreciation for alicent. It'll be difficult for me to hate her once the inevitable time skip comes.
* Incest.

Another great episode. That's a nice change of pace. I wish I could watch the entire first season in one sitting. The suspense is killing me!

People said I don't have taste in picking movies

So I am derseperate to learn from others
People have different tastes, so for this reason, one can tell you what to like or dislike.

Pick a good film to watch, and if you enjoy it, go to Google and type "Movies like (name of movie you just watched)" into the search box, and then pick random options from the search results.

Easy peasy.

Thor: Love & Thunder (2022)

2/5

This film is unwatchable. It feels more like a parody of a Thor movie than an actual Thor movie. I couldn’t help but be disappointed that in a movie of nothing but jokes, none landed for me... okay I may have chortled at the "you flicked too hard dammit" Thor/Zeus scene, but that's about it.

The only bright spot was Christian Bale, who acted his socks off. He could have just phoned it in like everyone else, but as usual, the man gave it his all. Wish he was a bigger part of the movie.

Overall, this might possibly be the worst Superhero movie I've seen since... BvS.

Anyways, this controversy might actually propel the movie even more, especially if curiosity wins over audience trying to see the result of all this brouhaha.
Joker comes to mind.

WBD is really in a shitty PR nightmarish period. grin
Another controversial w@nker heads the company. A 360 degree U-turn from the mostly quiet WB execs.
The negative press surrounding the film has already soured many people's interest, and when you factor in the negative reviews from critics, it'll be nothing short of a miracle if it receives a positive reception from moviegoers.

Anyhoo, WBD flailing is a soap opera on its own. I'm enjoying the drama. grin

Lol, why the Vawulence bruh? cheesy

Are you related to Florence or somehow got a taste of the Pughsy... grin
It doesn't take much to dislike Olivia Wilde. She's a walking PR nightmare.

* She cheated on her long-term fiancée, who is also the father of her two children, then tried to play the victim when Suidekis served her papers when she was clearly the villain.

*Claims to be a feminist, but casts a known woman abuser as her film's co-star.

* As if that weren't enough, she used her position as director to influence the inclusion of her boytoy in the film's main cast.

* To add fuel to the fire, she disrespected a Hollywood darling, Florence Pugh, who, in the opinion of many, can do no wrong.

Her reputation is currently in shambles, I'd be surprised if she lands another high-profile project so soon.

I particularly enjoyed "People Like Us", "Life Itself" and Drinking Buddie.

She's not over the top good like I said but I enjoyed her performance in the above.
You like what you like, I guess.

I can't help but think of her roles as those of a generic plot device, only serving to move the story along.

That's why I stated that it is a rumour so it may or may not be true. It's one of the theory going on in film Twitter this week.

The rest of your post is basically the hang of it...I respect Olivia Wilde's craft as an actress but her career as a director is as chaotic as they come.
What's there to respect? I can't think of a single noteworthy role she played as an actress. She consistently featured in shitty movies and usually as a side character. Before venturing into directing, she was a C-lister at best.

She is just another privileged Hollywood elitist swindling herself into lucrative projects she doesn't deserve.

She's a hypocrite who claims to be a feminist but didn't think twice about throwing her female lead under the bus to save her own ass.

Yep, I already know about the issues surrounding the movie.
I still don't think that should affect ratings critically if they are truly professional about it.

Anyways, I guess that's just some critics views about it cos I've seen some positives too. ↓↓
As far as Venice ovations go, 4 minutes is mediocre. For comparison, The Whale, which screened at the same festival, received a 6-minute standing ovation.

The problem following this movie is quite long and the low ratings was expected tbh. Shia LaBeouf was to play the lead, but Florence Pugh didn't want to work with him cuz of accusations that he his an abuser, so Olivia Wilde trying to please her switched to Harry Styles, who she's dating btw. Florence Pugh was happy that Olivia Wilde tried to protect her from an "abuser" but in reality it was actually Shia LaBeouf that quit the movie and he has receipt of Olivia Wilde begging him not to quit. Florence Pugh found out and decided to skip promotional tours for the Movie and there's also a rumour that she romantically likes Harry Styles whom Olivia Wilde is dating, so basically, the 2 ladies are dragging one man...so side beef.

So the problem with the movie is long and complicated....na WB I pity pass.
You were on the right track until you said Pugh and Styles had a romantic link. Nah.

Due to his history of victimizing women and "method" acting style, Pugh found it difficult to work with Shia. Shia apparently comes off as too antagonistic when he's acting out his part.

Anyhoo, Shia abruptly quit the project (must have read the script and decided it was dogshit), and Wilde, who was dating Styles (whom she was screwing, which resulted in the breakup of her engagement to Jason Sudeikis), decided to cast Styles as a replacement.

Wilde and Styles were openly cuddly in the studio when she was still engaged to Sudeikis, according to reports. Pugh wasn't cool with this because she dated Jason Sudeikis's close friend, and was also a friend of Sudeikis.

Following Wilde's casting of Styles as co-lead, it was revealed that the two would openly fool around in the studio, often forgetting their responsibilities. Pugh was even said to have directed some scenes herself because Olivia chose to make herself scarce on several occasions. The project was a train wreck that lasted 24 months, culminating in Olivia lying to the press about firing Shia because he brought toxicity to their work environment.

Unfortunately for her, Shia had anticipated this and had saved the video call she had made to him, which he promptly released to Variety magazine. In the video, she practically begged Shia to return while also disparaging Pugh with some offhand condescending remarks. Olivia Wilde, who was already at odds with Pugh for unrelated reasons, in a bid to appease Shia, threw some shades at Pugh by saying "it's going to be a wake up call for Miss Flo" or something along those lines.

Pugh, who has been a consummate professional throughout the ordeal, snubbed the film's promotional tour, and on the same day DWD was supposed to meet with the press, she uploaded an Openheimer promotional poster to her Instagram. I can only assume she was attempting to distance herself from DWD as much as possible. She was well aware that the film would be a flop.

That's basically it. The end.

er..

yes and no

there are four hannibal books

silence of the lambs
Hannibal
Hannibal rising

silence of the lambs [ and sleepers] are the only books i have seen where the movie matched the source material 95%. and i had to watch the movie 4 times before i got the entire plot and [ the line 'hes making a suit out of real women' finally clicked embarassed]

but hannibal the book was a hot mess. a real hot mess. the movie was lousy, and yet still far superior to the book. Thomas harris must have been looking for easy money.
I haven't read the books, but I can attest to the triumph of Silence of the Lambs (1991), even if other Hannibal films weren't as good.

Hannibal TV series, starring Mads Mikkelson, also deserves a mention. Season 4 would have been based on Silence of the Lambs, if memory serves, but the rights were sold to Amazon or something.

correct.

as an aside, I never thought it possible, but Hannibal the movie was far superior to Hannibal the book.
Anthony Hopkins delivered an acting masterclass unlike any I've seen before. It was a tour de force.

I read somewhere that his Hannibal role was only 17 minutes long, as opposed to a 2 hour runtime, making it the shortest Oscar-winning role in Academy Award history.

House of the motherfvcking Dragon

Another incredible episode. The pacing was fantastic, as was the writing. When 50-60 minutes feels like 30 minutes, you know the writing is good. It met most of my expectations...

* Minor characters getting more lines √
* Character development √
* Sweeping gorgeous cinematic shots √
* A great battle √
* People making rational realistic decisions √
* Military decisions that make tactical sense √
* Beautiful music √
* Daemon “Fvck it I’ll do it Myself” Targaryen √

All in all, great episode. Next week can't come soon enough.

It is not requisite to adapt a show faithfully to its source materials. Historically, the best adaptations are those that take liberties and deviate slightly from the source. To some extent, Game of Thrones did it.

My point is that TRoP making changes isn't necessarily a bad thing. It is within your rights to object to the changes, but these changes may be important to the plot and may be crucial going forward.

Let us not make snap judgments. It takes time for the best wine to mature. I have no doubt that, given enough time, these changes will begin to grow on everyone, and people will completely forget their initial reservations.

I can't stand the annoying rivalry culture that says A must be better than B in order for A to be considered great. A and B can both be great without limiting the greatness of the other, I mean, they are not mutually exclusive.

I can't relate to the comparison because, while both are Fantasy, they deal with very different topics. TRoP is about the battle between good and evil, whereas HotD is about the grey area in between. Both appeal to me for different reasons.

More importantly, both have shown that when competent writers are hired and given a reasonable budget to work with, they are more likely to deliver. As a result, it is entirely possible to enjoy them both without undermining the other.

Nope (2022)

4.5/5

This movie fulfills all of my expectations. I'm so happy that Peele stuck with the science fiction elements and went back to telling amazing stories.

Kaluuya can act so well just by using his facial expressions. Palmer's energy was contagious. Kaaluya and Palmer complimented each other so well. Angel impressed too... in fact, this film boasts top-tier talent.

The fact that the final scene took place in broad daylight was incredible in and of itself, but when combined with the alien's final form, strange geometry, and sound design, it created a truly breathtaking spectacle. It produced something novel and original in an industry that is entirely dependent on rehashing. The fakeouts and the "twist" were beautifully done.

In my opinion, the entity, along with Jaws, the Xenomorph, the predator, and the Thing, should go down in cinematic history as one of the greatest monster designs of all time.

Overall, it's far superior to "US," and one of the few alien movies that actually scared me. I unequivocally loved it.

I'm not sure what to make of this film. It's insane in the sense that shit went from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds without any exposition. I think it's an arthouse horror. The scenes must be metaphorical, otherwise, having a random talking piglet makes no logical sense.

No ratings for this one because, while I enjoyed it, I'm still puzzled by it. I wouldn't know how to rate something like that.
