oyaskii: Netflix churned out quite a few quality content in 2018/2019. Quality, I suppose, isn't as profitable as quantity. |

abduleez1: 2023 isn't looking good for her either. Asteriod City is ensembled cast just like Amsterdam and Babylon. It's pretty bang on it'd be met with similar reception. Being a chick flick is another nail in the coffin. Barbie is a romantic comedy, basically a chick flick. Chick flicks rarely do well commercially. |

toluxe0075: What?! What are you on about? The film makes it abundantly clear that Miles is a phoney, a moron_ masquerading as a genius. It even provided us with numerous hints pointing to this. Miles' repeated malapropism was the first red flag. To appear smarter, he made up words. The second clue alluded to Miles' lack of intelligence. Despite the fact that his company is Alpha, an Omega letter can be seen in numerous places throughout the film. The third hint suggested Miles was a fraud. This one is a little more difficult to put into words but the gist of it is Miles is an idiot. |

Kaycee7: When Chris Evans is among the suspects, there's not much of a red herring. I knew it was him from the start, but I wanted to know how he did it, so I kept watching. In the end, I was mostly satisfied with the outcome. Glass Onion is unique. Again, the killer is obvious, but the story is no longer about the murder mystery, it is a social commentary rich in symbolism and irony. I recommend watching it again and paying close attention to the clues. It's a hilarious examination of influencer culture. |
TV/Movies / Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by DandeNumeruno(m): 5:09pm On Dec 28, 2022 |
Kaycee7: I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. It not only matched the first film, it surpassed it. Glass Onion excels because it transcends the murder mystery genre. It has several layers but is transparent, much like the title. Essentially, it is a mystery that is not a mystery. Although the murderer is obvious, there is more to it than meets the eye. |

Frostyzone: abduleez1: Disaster films used to rule the box office back then. Without any star power, 2012 (another disaster film) made over $700 million worldwide just 5 years prior. DJ led Hercules barely crossed $200 million on a $100 million+ budget, and Pain & Gain couldn't even reach $90 million globally. |

Ikillbrokehoes: Can we put an end to the notion that DJ is a titan in Hollywood and that his films are box office smashes? Aside from his F&F and Jumanji films, his films tend to perform mediocrely. San Andreas, Skyscraper, Rampage, and so on... none of these films did particularly well at the box office. With Black Adam being a financial flop, I believe it's time to reconsider his status as a box office titan. 1 Like |

GloriousGbola: Even as a fan of DJ and his style of film, when you stop to think about it, this is probably the most pointless superhero movie ever made. Not only was it a critical and financial flop, but it was also a part of a universe that is now dead and undergoing a hard reboot. So everything seen in that film was irrelevant, especially that cameo at the end. Out of all the bad DCEU movies that came out before James Gunn, this one will go down as one of the worst, owing to its pointlessness. 8 Likes |

GloriousGbola: People expected something more akin to Infinity War given how DJ hyped it up as his passion project. Instead, we got something more analogous to The Suicide Squad (The first one). Something so mediocre and forgettable that you'd be hard pressed to recall anything quotable from the film. As far as superhero films go, it ranks second to Love & Thunder as my least favourite of the year. 6 Likes |

hopefulLandlord: The sensible course of action is to leave the island as soon as you have the necessary evidence, but even though you would receive the justice you deserve, you wouldn't have the gratification of seeing them wilt and beg you in person. It's the same reason Andi chose to goad the group with emails rather than approach the law directly. 1 Like 1 Share |

abduleez1: Last time I checked, it has crossed $500m. In the meantime, BA is as yet flopping in $300m. I think we've arrived where motion pictures netting a billion will turn out to be extremely rare. All the more so if Hollywood keeps snubbing China. 8 Likes 1 Share |

DrDax: Nah, the lady (Brenda) came upon his trophy box by accident. Every serial killer has one, and in his case, the box was filled with photographs of every woman he had ever murdered, each with varying degree of distress on their faces. He made the decision to silence Brenda permanently after realising that she has seen too much. However, unlike his previous victims, he had grown to care deeply about Brenda, so her murder tormented him and made him feel remorseful. As a result, he chose not to place her picture in his trophy case with the others. When Ghat was harvesting his liver, you can see him imagining that his victims were taking his liver. |

DrDax: *Spoilers Alert* Wes did not break up with the woman in the photograph and flashbacks, instead, he murdered her. In short, he was a serial killer. The twist clearly illustrates that Ghat didn't pick him at random. |

House of the motherfvcking Dragon There is a lot to unpack here. This episode felt particularly good because of the drama. There's a lot of nuance in the characters and how they interacted. Random thoughts... * Daemon Targaryen is still the best Targaryen, at least in terms of sheer size of balls and entertainment value. * I'll admit I'm a little grossed out by the "young" actresses being involved in the sex scenes. Obviously, they are of age in real life, but still. * Lord Blackwood is no pushover. * Daemon Targaryen is a master manipulator. * The sex scenes are steamy without being sleazy. * This episode has given me a whole new appreciation for alicent. It'll be difficult for me to hate her once the inevitable time skip comes. * Incest. Another great episode. That's a nice change of pace. I wish I could watch the entire first season in one sitting. The suspense is killing me! 6 Likes |

Ilamina: People have different tastes, so for this reason, one can tell you what to like or dislike. Pick a good film to watch, and if you enjoy it, go to Google and type "Movies like (name of movie you just watched)" into the search box, and then pick random options from the search results. Easy peasy. |

Thor: Love & Thunder (2022) 2/5 This film is unwatchable. It feels more like a parody of a Thor movie than an actual Thor movie. I couldn’t help but be disappointed that in a movie of nothing but jokes, none landed for me... okay I may have chortled at the "you flicked too hard dammit" Thor/Zeus scene, but that's about it. The only bright spot was Christian Bale, who acted his socks off. He could have just phoned it in like everyone else, but as usual, the man gave it his all. Wish he was a bigger part of the movie. Overall, this might possibly be the worst Superhero movie I've seen since... BvS. 3 Likes

abduleez1: The negative press surrounding the film has already soured many people's interest, and when you factor in the negative reviews from critics, it'll be nothing short of a miracle if it receives a positive reception from moviegoers. Anyhoo, WBD flailing is a soap opera on its own. I'm enjoying the drama. |

abduleez1: It doesn't take much to dislike Olivia Wilde. She's a walking PR nightmare. * She cheated on her long-term fiancée, who is also the father of her two children, then tried to play the victim when Suidekis served her papers when she was clearly the villain. *Claims to be a feminist, but casts a known woman abuser as her film's co-star. * As if that weren't enough, she used her position as director to influence the inclusion of her boytoy in the film's main cast. * To add fuel to the fire, she disrespected a Hollywood darling, Florence Pugh, who, in the opinion of many, can do no wrong. Her reputation is currently in shambles, I'd be surprised if she lands another high-profile project so soon. |
