Transformers get story? The plot is not important abeg. People watch the movies to see robots fighting. Lol.

But on a serious note, Mark Wahlberg is just on a bad run. Some actors have up and downs.

Robert Downey Jr for example. The guy's career seemed over until Ironman and Sherlock Holmes. This was about a decade hiatus
RDJ nearly drank away his career but recovered remarkably well and now is currently the highest paid actor in hollywood. how the turntables. Mark can turn it around too. he's only one oscar worthy movie away from recovering his mojo.

not surprised he is back to where he belongs he was never an A- lister just an old actor who has been on screen for over 2 decades...he hit stardom in the early 2010s upward..then 2016 his career hit downfall...the moment I saw him in daddy' home(that movie paraded actors who their career has sunk e.g will Farrell Mel Gibson john cena etc mehn I just pitied him..what happens to my lone survivor actor and pain and gain guy...loved the dude back then....h
he used to be, bro. you only have to go through his filmography pre 'the departed' to know he used to be an headliner. what's interesting is how him and leo's career went in opposite directions after both starred in the departed. leo goes on to headline hits after hits and even won an oscar in the process, and Mark's biggest accomplishment in the same timeline is 'transformers the last knight'. I feel bad for Mark. but in order to rise from your ashes you have to burn. I believe he can still resuscitate his ailing movie career.

Mile 22.
Mark Wahlberg is becoming lazy. I remember when he took on better roles like in Boogie Nights and in the Departed. Now everything is just the same.
it's not laziness that is the problem, the thing be say the guy no dey marketable again. He longer has the x factor.

Oceans 8 (2018) - 7/10. Sandra bullock killed it"hypothetically" grin. And rihanna she's a cool fit for the nerdy role she played.

Ready Player one (2017) - 5/10.Watched this movie for three days.more like children's superhero movies.
this your rating be like those times I wear my clothes inside out by mistake. so I'm gonna assume you mean to say Ocean 8 and not Ready player one be childish things and deserve a 5/10 because of am. because anything short of that infers that someone dey sniff glue.

For me , upgrade is just an average movie, a 6.5 rating . It is the type of movie with less engaging plot that one just have to keep watching and keep asking where is it heading, and at the end, it leaves you with this kind of "oh so this is it" feelings. But the only saving grace of this movie is twist at the end, which leaves no big impression on me, and thus, makes no difference to me. Unusual suspect fall into this category, but has more engaging plot right from the beginning till the end.

Besides, the fight scenes in the movie are not as incredible as it's painted here, someone even compared the fight scenes with matrix, kilode!!! The movie only has two or three scenes of hand to hand fights that are few seconds long and easily forgettable unlike matrix.

Another movie that left me with this type of feeling is ex machina movie, where it turned out the robot was playing on the emotions of the invited guy just to get away from the facility to the real world.
How dare you give Upgrade a 6.5? tell me where you live, I just wanna talk.

I never said you couldn't break down fractions. I just pointed out that you were breaking whole numbers into fractions and comparing the fractions individually with a whole number.
We're at an impasse. let's just agree to disagree. I know I'm in the right though.

But you're comparing fractions to a whole number? And the embarrassing thing is, some of the fractions are beating the whole number.
but I'm not the one comparing fractions to a whole number. I know that's stupid so I broke down the fractions to their nearest whole numbers. then you came with rules that it's not viable to break down fractions. I'm not at fault here.

Hmmm. Bro, Jack Ryan is okay-ish, just like Condor. None of them are masterpieces, but as political action thrillers, they're adequate. Certainly not enough cigar in both to inspire the ridiculing. So, pipe down, will ya?
Lai lai. Jack ryan is far better. Condor is mediocre at best.

You don't get it. It's not a viable comparison. You can't pit action sequences against action scenes. Look for a better movie to compare Uprade's action sequences.
Sez who. who made that rule? if a combination of action scenes make up an action sequence, why is it not 'viable' to break them up individually? show me where it is written and I will shut up. even in maths you can break up fractions to the simplest form. or is that not viable too?
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by DandeNumeruno(m): 3:27pm On Sep 04, 2018
Kaycee7:
Dude, if you judge one-on-one action by scenes, then every action ever shot is one-on-one action. There is a reason why GotG, Iron Man, Dr Strange and Spiderman Vs Thanos is dubbed "The Fight On Titan". You break it up, it becomes Thanos Vs Drax, then Thanos Vs Dr Strange, then Thanos Vs Iron Man, Thanos Vs Mantis, Thanos Vs Star Lord, Thanos Vs Spiderman, Thanos Vs Iron Man again, Thanos Vs Dr Strange again. You're trying to break up an action sequence into its individual scenes so that you can pit it against Ugrade's action sequences.
Now you get it. There are a lot of one on ones if you go technical.

It depends though. A good writer can spin a crazy sequel from this first one. Many of the good movies we remember were supposed to be standalone movies but the reception forced the producer's hand and the resultant sequels dwarfed the original ones. Anyway if this one ends here, then kudos to them. For once, an unpredictable sci-fi movie.
there have been unpredictable sci-fi movies before although not as straight forward.

A one-on-one action sequence or a one-on-one action scene?
You have to understand this scenes are shot separately and independently of each other and then were glued together via editing.

Apart from Maw Vs Dr. Strange and Hulk Vs Thanos, the rest ain't one-on-one.
Thanos vs strange is one on one. iron man vs thanos is one on one (iron man made him bleed), steve rogers vs the male half of thanos assassins in the battle of wakanda is one on one. Bruce banner in a mech suit vs thanos destroyer in the battle of wakanda is one on one. black widow vs the female half of thanos assassins in the battle of wakanda is one on one. Scarlett witch vs thanos in the battle of wakanda is one on one. Steve and black widow vs thanos assassins in glasgow is one on one. they are all very brief encounters but each and everyone qualifies as one on ones.

Good that you have buttressed my point.

Upgrade is a low budget movie that put all high budget sci fi action movie to shame. Doesn't it deserves the tag as the best action movie of the year?

Despite the gore, it was able to blend comedy and humour into the movie.

Without big money and CGI, avengers is nothing. I love avengers movie but upgrade has really impressed me the most.

Upgrade has shown us that you don't need to have big money to produce a top notch movie.

And like avengers, the bad guy wins.
Indeed.

There wasn't much one-on-one fighting in Infinity War. So if we're going to be doing comparison based on that, you can say Upgrade is the best one-on-one action movie. But when it comes to sheer action extravaganza, even Deadpool shits on Upgrade.
There were a lot of one on ones. Ebony macau vs Dr Strange. Hulk vs Thanos. Steve rogers and black widow vs the two Thanos warriors. Iron man vs Thanos. Thor vs Thanos. The big thanos monster vs Bruce banner. Black widow vs one half of the thanos duo. so many.

Upgrade one on one is better than the OTT action sequence on Deadpool 2 bro. Deadpool 1 is better but Deadpool 2 is inferior.

There is nothing "amateurish" about condor. If for nothing, you should know condor has an approval rating of 90% as against the 72% of Jack Ryan on Rotten Tomatoes, with both also pulling the same score on metacritic.
If condor is your idea of a low budget show, then you obviously don't know what a low budget show really is.
I don't really understand what you mean by "Jack Ryan being more believable" or "condor likened to reading fiction" since both shows are wholly based on novels and their movie adaptations.
To your remark about Jack Ryan having more "quality", I assume you mean more fanciful which would explain your erroneous comment about condor being a low budget show.
concerning Joubert, one can only assume (rightly) that she has a much larger role to play in the shows second season.
PS; There is actually not a whole lot of ground for comparing the two shows, for while they may be of the same genre, they are very different shows. The fact that you prefer one to the other does not make the other less than what it is.
Woke up this morning to this. Too much grammar, and for what? Who cares about what rotten tomatoes think? Their ratings are wack and don't in any way reflect the taste of the common man. go on, continue to to base the foundation of your argument on professional mercenaries that are paid to rate shows. well done.

Anyways Condor sucks. too fantastical. Too much plot holes the size of atlantic ocean but the one that really grabbed my attention was the deadman switch arch. She is supposed to instruct her lawyer to release the content to every major news outlet in the world, but he released it to a Cia controlled news outlet? nonsense and plenty ingredients. How could a car somersault fatally and the two occupants get to walk away with not even a single broken bone or concussion? Rubbish.

Condor sucks dude and using rotten tomatoes to back you up won't change the fact. give it a few more weeks and even your precious rotten tomatoes will rate Jack ryan higher.
