FamilyRe: Is Bride Price Necessary After All These? by DandyWalker(m): 1:57pm On Aug 05, 2016
Oloniyan:
Why She Does Not Deserve That Bride Price.

Let me start by saying I have a number of female friends -platonic friendship, I mean - with different shapes and shades. Some I grew up together with, while others, I met through different avenues like the media, school et all - just like every other guy out there. As mature ladies, almost all of them have had their 'fair' share of relationships with different experiences that, if only they could add it to their CVs, would qualify them as 'veterans' on the 'job'.

From what I have seen, and from what they have told me, many guys have dumped them, and they have dumped many guys. A number of them have had up to 10 boyfriends/sexual partners, some have had much less or much.

Virtually all are in their early 20s. The very bold ones among them have described their sexual experiences which sometimes include oral (cunnilingus and MouthAction) and even anal sex. Some have even had to terminated one or two pregnancies for guys who later dumped them or in some cases, who they later dumped.

Yours truly, each time they tell me this, my body recoils in disgust. I wish I could help it. But oftentimes I can't but begin to imagine the sexual act: how the guy handles her the way he pleases, insert his hand-no matter how filthy- into even the most intimate place in her body , twists and turns her to mimic a dog, a monkey etc ,while she moans away..............And this is not 1 guy, not 2 and sometimes, not 10!

From what I have seen, It seems to me my friends (the girls) are always 'on heat'. Because as soon as a guy dumps them, they jump at another, and the 'sexual circuit' is never broken.

The funny thing is, my friends have not done anything unusual , because that is what most girls do these days. It has become a norm, not an exception! Well, Its a modern world-at least , that is what they say- and I seem to be outdated in the way I feel about them. But I think they would also agree with me that we should forgo the ERA OF BRIDE PRICE, because they don't deserve it!

Why do I have to pay for what some guys have had for free?!Why do I have to pay over a girl whose private parts still drip of the Fluid of other guys?! No tell me, why do I have to pay over a girl who has carried and aborted pregnancies for some other guys who had her with little or nothing?!

Fine, I know a woman has much more to offer than sex in marriage. But she has definitely reduced her value with those sexual escapades. All a man lives for is EGO and self esteem. She has denied me that EGO and pride over her, at least, not when many other guys out there know the exact locations of the scars and birth marks in her private parts............and of course her 'ringtones'!

You're absolutely RIGHT that I'm not a doctor AND I haven't claimed to be one but I'm not new to a hospital environment, and that's why I am an active participant in the Susan G Komen "Race for the Cure Breast Cancer" and I can authoritatively tell you that you're wrong. I repeat, the illness isn't killing the patient, it's the wickedness and unequipped doctors that are. A doctor that's unequipped and lacks the facility to treat a patient is telling the patient they're at the end of the road? Like how does that work? Whereas in equipped hospitals, treatment continues... And please, don't come at me with this is "Stage 4 Cancer", it may interest you to read authorized articles from medical websites such as cancer.org, etc. I am 200% sure if she was admitted to Cancer Treatment of America hospital, or if she was a kid and was admitted to St. Joseph cancer treatment center, her story would be different. But of course, doctors in Nigeria already told her she's not treatable and should go home and die... What a damn shame.
Highly advanced metastatic cancer has no cure anywhere in the world. Chemotherapy can do little. Patients would live longer in Europe because of better facilities, but they would still die. How many hospitals have facility for common radiotherapy in Nigeria?Even diagnostic equipments like CT scan, MRI still elude us. And pls sir, fear God. It is when u don't fear God that u hear something in the media and act on it. No doctor ever said Mayowa shu go and die at home. None! And whoever propagates this falsehood without verification, would not know peace. Haba! We don't deserve it. I can't count the number of times I have to contribute money, with other doctors, in other to care for a poor patient, despite not being paid several-months salary. Doctors, including yours truly, have had to donate blood for dying patients. As a doctor, u av little time for urself and family. Yet, u are nailed at the slightest opportunity by the media and the people u care for. It is indeed a country.

Pls don't offend God with the lie that doctors told somebody to go home and die. It is not true! Meanwhile, when a cancer metastasizes , it means it has spread to many other organs in the body. At this point, there is little or nothing u can do. The only difference u can make would depend on the facilities u av available. That is, if u are in a developed nation, u would live longer than if u are in a country like Nigeria. But by and large, the patient's days are numbered in both cases. For example, how many hospitals have the facility for radiotherapy in Nigeria? How many have CT scan? These are like pure water in Europe. It is well.

You're the one who needs to apply some education before speaking. Many patients that are critically ill are usually kept in hospice so as to reduce the pain during this stage (almost death). According to you, IF the doctors don't have the facilities to perform in a country like Nigeria, then how come did they come about the advanced test that showed she's cannot be treated "anywhere in the world" and she should go home and die? What kills patients in Nigeria is not the illness, it's the wickedness and the unequipped doctors that inadvertently kill their patients. The doctors at LUTH are callous and have no regard for human life, don't tell a patient to go home and die. That's why I would NEVER support their "strike" measure because they don't deserve taxpayers monies.
why do u believe the media hook, line and sinker? No doctor, I repeat, no doctor would tell a patient to go home and die. There is something they call 'end of life care' and every doctor knows and observes it to the best of his/her ability . Metastatic cancer (stage 4) does not usually need any equipment to diagnose. It's often a purely clinical diagnosis. Well, u are not a doctor, and if u are not in their shoes, u never know where it pinches. I rest my case.

And some pathetic doctors at luth were telling mayowa there's no hope for her and shud go home and die. Those doctors needed to be rounded up and flogged with horsewhips
See, mayowa reportedly had stage 4 ovarian cancer. this stage of cancer is not reversible/curable anywhere in the world. I'm very sure you u must have heard of many big white people dying of cancer. Haven said that, where are the facilities for the doctors to perform in a country like Nigeria? Where is the facility to perform heart transplant? Pls let us always apply our education before we comment on issues like this.

I am not against you but only telling you that mistakes happen which people never planned for. And its better they keep the babies and be single parents than abort!
#mytwocents undecided
Well, let's not derail. Mistakes do occur, I agree. But remember my original position was that anybody that is not planning to get married should not bother having children. Mistakes, divorce, death, rape are different issues entirely. Even in the case of the so-called mistakes, I am not an advocate of pre-marital intimacy, but let's not discuss that. Some people don't want to get to married, yet they want to have children .That's what I am against. Period.

So you prefer they abort the child than have it?? Even if it was a mistake or not??
So they didn't know it could result into pregnancy before doing it unprotected? It's only in rape cases that having a baby without planning for it is justified. See, most people just want to have babies for the sake of it. These babies do not beg anybody to bring them forth! I insist that children deserve to have both parents available to them, except of course, in cases of divorce , death and rape. They deserve the warmth of family togetherness . That is my point.

No one is short-changing anyone. At least not intentionally! I believe a happy child can only be raised by a happy parent(s). If being single makes one happy, why should one short-change that?? huh
It's OK, I agree with you. There are instances where divorce is inevitable, and in that case, the parties involved have no choice. But what I'm particularly against is the trending baby mama/papa syndrome. To me, it amounts to being selfish. one is only thinking about himself/herself alone and not the children. Every child deserves to live with both parents that bore him/her.

Those instances u sited are just circumstantial and unfortunate. Every child should b given the opportunity to be nurtured by both parents. It doesn't automatically mean he/she would turn out good, just like it's not everybody that is educated that would turn out rich, after all some illiterates are billionaires. But everybody should still be educated.

I agree with u. marriage is a choice. But anybody that won't get married should not bother having children as well. It would b a great injustice to a child to be brought by a single parent.
