Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has warned of a possible disintegration of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party unless something is done to stem the current crisis rocking the party. Speaking to journalists after the meeting he held to broker peace between the two factions of the PDP, in Abuja, the former president explained that the meeting made some headway in the effort to broker peace. He promised that he and the elders of the party will do their best to end the disagreement which trailed the PDP Special National Convention. In attendance were governors of Bayelsa, Delta, Katsina, Abia, Kogi, Plateau, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, PDP National Chairman Bamangar Tukur, as well as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih. Some of the governors had left the meeting but nonetheless the former BoT Chairman had a private meeting with those who were left behind, at the Hilton hotel. http://www.channelstv.com/home/2013/09/06/pdp-crisis-obasanjo-warns-leaders-against-disintegration/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hucs2XnEHAo |
@teniyi, I read your post. I can respect your viewpoints although I disagree with them all. You seem to be a very informed person so I will be much happy if you can answer this question: Let us assume that I am 40 years old ,a devoted Muslim who observes all the tenets of Islam. You have a daughter of say 12 years of age who is still in Primary school or just starting Secondary School. If I come to ask her hand in marriage will you grant my request? Please be honest and unemotional in your response.Thank you. |
It would be advisable for President Jonathan to remember that he is dealing with Obasanjo, a very cunning and seasoned military man who has been involved in the 'Game' called Nigeria for a very long time. Just an advice. |
The only thing I disagree with in all of the writing is below...we Nigerians don't steal people's food... ![]() 'theft of half-eaten sandwiches and opened drink containers from the office fridge' |
Very strange...there must be an occult reason for this mask business otherwise it is absurd and over the top. |

What appears to be his arm holding onto the bus is not actually his arm - It's a metal pole which looks like an arm and which goes into his sleeve and connects to a harness underneath his clothes which holds his entire body up in suspension. His real right arm is tucked under his shirt. |
stephenponti: There lies the key, if You cant think on ur local dialect u can neither pray in ur local dialect. Just like if u cant think in good English u neither can speak Good English.Yes,what are you saying? Is this your 'local dialect'? Please re-write in English... ![]() |

DrummaBoy: The mystery behind the great danfo is revealed. He is Roman Catholic. He can loose his salvation. See where pentecostals got there doctrine from... Catholics. No wonder the morbid hatred for Paul; will Roman Catholics not hate him forever who through his writting delivered the church from the reign of Popery 1600 years after his death. You make me laugh...I'm no Catholic. If I was one I would not be so bold in demystifyinmg Paul as I have done to your utter horror. I am a simple believer in Jesus and I worship wheresoever the name of Christ Jesus is honoured. |
A very good and apt question...actually,I've never thought of this until now...hmmmm |
Kulas: Core North should just forget about power for now if atall they want this country to still remain as one.For now: GEJ(South South) will rule till 2019.Thereafter South East(igbos),2019-2027. After that,Middle Belt(2027-2035).South West(Yorubas),2035-2043.Thereafter power returns to real Abokis(North East or North West).Whoever want to dispute this permutations, let the person say it here. It's practically impossible... and even you know your suggestion is laughable... |
It appears the powers that has frustrated Jonathan's governance up till now will stop at nothing after 2015 to end his reign. One thing I know is this: if I were Jonathan I will leave power after 2015, no matter the temptations of power.I think his life may be endangered if he tries to hold on to power. Goodluck if you are reading this.. ..run before your good luck runs out..Go enjoy your retirement in peace.Just my little advice |
What I find most strange is that the North 'Have Made Nigeria Ungovernable For Jonathan' by destroying the North. Perhaps someone can help my ignorance by explaining the logic here... |
A law without grace renders a person powerless and hopeless. Grace without law will keep a person happy and contented in his sin. |
Jude 1:4 ► For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. |
I think the information below may come as a shock to some people here: Catholicism by Matt Slick Salvation, in Roman Catholicism, is a process with many steps: Actual Grace, Faith, Good Works, Baptism, Participation in the Sacraments, Penance, Indulgences, and Keeping the Commandments. Basically, salvation is attained through baptism and good works. It is maintained by good works and participation in the sacraments. If lost, it is regained through the sacrament of Penance which only a Roman Catholic priest can administer. Add to this purgatorial cleansing after a person dies, and you can see that salvation is an arduous process. In Catholicism, a person can gain salvation and lose it many times depending on the number of sins committed, their severity, and how much of the sacraments that they participate in -- in order to regain grace which enables them to do good works by which they are justified. Furthermore, justifying grace is infused into the Catholic upon baptism and via the sacraments. This grace can be gradually lost through venial sins or forfeited all together with mortal sins. .... http://carm.org/catholic-salvation-regain |
shdemidemi: Right statement again but-Read that parable of the sower and the story of the passover lamb and the story of Abaraham. You would realize work does not determine your salvation, faith does.Look up James 2:21. Abraham obviously had great faith in the Lord, but he still had to back up that great faith with good works i.e offering Isaac. And remember Jesus saying: "if you are Abraham's children, do the works of Abraham" (Jn 8:39) |
shdemidemi: Although, I don't really understand if you are making a statement or an argument in favor of works. I don't want to assume. I would only add that everything you said is right (not as an authority o but personally) having in hind sight that Paul speaks to only believers(saints) that are already saved. It is both a statement and an argument in favor of works that has to be founded/based upon faith. |
shdemidemi: what is your point here saint? At this stage Paul admitted or confided to the Philippians that some level of maturity had not yet been reached by him. Some goals remained untouched by him. And that he was yet to walk some paths. This shows a high level of honesty and lack of hypocrisy in Paul. It is not surprising when in 2 Timothy 4:7 he wrote: ‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith ….’ Even you will admit that a ‘fight’ and a ‘race’ are both nouns that require responsibility, effort, and action. So it is interesting and amusing when some Christians acts like as if there is no work to be done on their part. This was my intent for the post. By the way , Happy Sunday to you! |
shdemidemi: what is your point here saint?saint Danfo? You honor me too much, but even I know I am unworthy of such an appellation or title ...Lol ... ![]() |
PHILIPPIANS 3:12-14 "Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Some HELPFUL NOTES: Not- In no way; to no degree If- Maybe; possibly. On the condition that... Apprehended- To grasp mentally; understand Mark- A recognized standard of quality Prize- A prize is an award to be given to a person or a group of people to recognise and reward actions or achievements. |

Bidam: James NEVER contradicted Paul. I was thinking shdemidemi should have done justice to the scripture i quoted for him and how they agree with the pauline epistle. Instead he went rambling about what was addressed to whom and what..that is poor bible study if you ask me.James is not saying that our works make us righteous before God, but instead he is making it clear that real saving faith is demonstrated by good works. Works are not the cause of salvation; works are the evidence of salvation. The person who claims to be a Christian but lives in willful disobedience to Christ with a life that shows no works has a false or dead faith and is not saved. James is clearly making a contrast between two different types of faith—truth faith that saves and false faith that is dead.@Bidam, This is so comical. So with all your postulations you have never read James 2:20 NIV :'You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless?' Just in case you missed it the text says: 'FAITH WITHOUT DEEDS IS USELESS.....' I can understand your plight, you are seeking unity even when it is glaring that none exist...Oh well keep trying... who knows... |
@shdemidemi I just have to come out of my retirement from this labored topic to say thank you for calling me ignorant and confused. In reality, delude not yourself by thinking I am not studious of the scriptures and that I am confused, as if all I wrote thus far were written from a beer parlor or during a copulation session. Rather it is evident from all your write up that you are grossly delusional. Anybody that seeks to absolve themselves from the challenges of life and responsibilities for their actions and says he cannot commit sin, even if he carries out the act, is certainly delusional and in need of mental restitution i.e at Yaba Apa Osi. I have a suggestion for you and other like-minded people like you; now that you are 'saved' and under grace why don't you just bite a cyanide and leave this world. Why hang around here since your heaven is ready-made for you. Why stay in this challenging and difficult world seeking approbation on Nairaland for the viewpoint(s) Paul imposed upon you. I know you won't understand the profundity of my suggestion, simply because you are delusional and caught up in your indoctrination. Just like the OP who is cowardly selective about reacting to a topic he started in his campaign to 'edify' the world. It seems your pastor or indoctrinator forgot to tell you that one of the thorniest or difficult textual problems any Christian can face is the apparent disagreement between Paul and James the brother of Jesus. I wonder why James contradict Paul by saying we're justified by works and not by faith alone? He even quotes Abraham for proof of his point. Hmmmmm...perhaps James was as confused as I am today. |
Every debate must have a time of closure. Thus I offer you my closing submission on this debate on the issue of Works vs. Grace, or put more aptly, Jesus versus Paul. I want to start by concurring with the guy who said the third world war will come from this topic. As hilarious as it sounds, it surely highlight that the topic is real, and that there are very strong and opposing views within Christianity as regards the pathway to salvation in Christ. To the OP, Shidemdem, ChristEmbassy etc. I know there is nothing I can say that will change your mind. Absolutely nothing. Until you experience transition and witness the underlying workings of life, you will not change this opinion; In Yoruba they call it A’dorun Mo Oto (He that gets to heaven to discover the truth. @shdemidem, Christians cannot sin? Really? Were you inebriated when you wrote it, in which I will excuse it, but if you wrote this in full possession of your faculties, then I am shocked at the level of your delusion. To you I have 3 questions 1. YE ARE FALLEN FROM GRACE” (Galatians 5:1-4). Please explain how someone who is covered by grace (and therefore cannot sin) can fall from grace? 2. If Christian cannot sin why was Paul confronting sexual Immorality in the Church 1 Corinthians 5. (That an unnamed Christian man has his father’s wife, amongst other issues)? 3. To whom was Jesus speaking in Revelations 3:15. “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. (Rev 3:15-16). If they were covered by grace why make any demands upon them concerning their deeds? I noted that you conveniently chose the Parable of the Prodigal Son because you know it will be difficult to wriggle your way out of the other parables. But even with your selection, I ask you a pertinent question for your reflection: The Prodigal Son was a profligate and on repentance received grace from his father. The question to you is: Does the son, after returning, have to maintain a standard of behaviour to continue receiving the grace, or since he came back home he can continue all the wayward lifestyles he learnt in the foreign land? Is there any work or behaviour modification required on his part after returning home? @ All, You all should really look into what authority Paul has besides his claim to have been visited by Jesus on the road to Damascus. (In one account of the story there were witnesses to this event, in another description no one else saw what he did.) Scour your bible and you will clearly see that the teachings of Jesus and those of Paul are not at all compatible with each other. Paul's doctrine basically changed the preaching of Jesus so much so that today Christianity has more to do with his teachings than Jesus Christ's. No wonder he continually tried to upstage the chosen hand-picked Apostles who had spent over three years with Jesus. He was too arrogant to learn from them. His approach is completely rationally invalid, and therefore the conclusion that he arrives at cannot be accepted on the foundation of his approach in arriving at it. What was Paul actually teaching? On the one hand he is saying that believers should continue to observe the Law of Moses, especially the segment that defines sin. On the other hand, he is saying that believers have been discharged from the Law of Moses, thereby implying that they no longer need to observe the Law of Moses. The one consistent message of Paul amidst all this mystification is that those under grace should not sin. The apt question therefore is: is their life free of sin on account of there being no law and therefore no sin, or on account of their living according to the law because the law still exists and sin still exists? So which one is right Paul? Do we go left or right? As far as I'm concerned Paul’s writings are utter confusion. It should be unused. I suppose at the end you all will have to make up your mind whether to follow the simple, ingenuous, and life-giving words of Jesus the Son of GOD, or the intellectually stimulating but mystifying words of Paul who never saw or spoke to the Christ during His three years ministry on earth. I leave you with some verses that highlight the wide chasm between the words of Jesus and one of His 12 Witnesses as opposed to Paul. On THE LAW JESUS - Matthew.19:17 …. If you would enter life, keep the commandments. - Luke 16 verse 29 (Parable of Lazarus and the Rich man) "Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them. JOHN - 1 John 5:3 "For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. PAUL - Galatians 2:16 For by the works of the Law no flesh shall be justified." My question to you is plain: who is your ultimate reference or authority, Jesus or Paul? Because even a smart primary school kid can see they are in clear contradiction. Now, the answer to the question is for you to answer in the privacy of your heart. One thing I know I will continue to do is that I will continue to bind Satan and his followers in the name of Jesus Christ, but definitely not in the name of Paul. In other words, Jesus is my own ultimate authority and perpetual reference. What about you? I wish you all tranquillity of mind and soul. I also want to thank those that replied directly to my post. I thank you for your time and civility during this exchange. All the best! |
Zikkyy: i know my maths is not so good, but your calculation cannot be correct. work this out; take ten oranges and throw them (in equal proportion) into two large basket already loaded with over a thousand oranges, then count to see if it's the ten oranges that was compressed to become two basket of oranges. confused? you should beNot a very smart analogy. The joke is on you ahahahah...Try better next time bro... |
