Okay. I agree it can be overwhelming for beginners. But anybody that claims to be a programmer should be able to answer questions there. It shows that your have experience and knowledge about that particular programming language and that your debugging skills are sharp. If you cant then you're still a noob. Moreover you'll get to meet more experienced and veteran programmers.

Let me clear the air....there is no best laptop, disregard all these comments about Mac book pro, it's a good laptop but certainly not the best. IMHO just get a decent pc at least a dual core laptop and start plugging away. As a Beginner it's even better to get a low-end laptop as it forces you to write better code to maximize performance instead of buying a beast that'll run bad code quickly

At the end of the day you'll know exactly what you want.

3d game development you'll need a system with a powerful gpu

Number crunching and heavy arithmetic you'll need a fast multi-core processor etc

As for hacking, i don't mean to discourage you but just forget about it...most nigerian so called and aspiring hackers are just script kiddies that can't build their own exploits, hacking is so much more than firing up a terminal or knowing how to use metasploit you have to be extremely knowledgeable and smarter than programmers and hardware designers to outsmart them and find loop holes in their systems, not just re-using old tricks that can't break high profile targets

The only way I can see things changing is if we diversify the economy and start exporting agricultural products, if this government knows what they're doing they should quickly re settle those in the north because those are our farmers in nigeria
