I used tkinter for the GUI development if thats what you're asking.

Tkinter is easy to get started with but becomes a pain in the butt as your UI becomes more complex.

In Summary Java is just a shitty language....where the simplest things are surrounded by stupid idioms and patterns that make the developers feel that they've learnt some amazing skill when they finally learn the "Workaround" pattern.

Deep down Experienced Java programmers know the language sucks balls but they won't admit it because they've invested a lot of their time learning it and the weird ways to do some things (How do methods not have default arguments ).

Don't bother replying cuz i've made that conclusion a long time ago....and will only change it if someone pays me a million per hour to write java.

I have an uncle who's fairly new in the hotel business. Business has been going smooth since 1999(the dawn of true independence) however this current administration has been really hard on operations. In his hotels' boom period everything was run manually using record books but I convinced him things would run even more smoothly if he automates record keeping. I showed him an example of a small business I indulged in once and how I was able to see profits rise and drop without guesstimating(a trick I've seen him use one too many times). The problem now is I've no idea how to create a management system for such a huge operation. I've heard him complain of theft from employees and sometimes contractors shortchanging him with help from inside sources who "accidently" destroy physical record books. With a software based management system I foresee such problems being issues of the past.

The question now is:

1. How much would it cost to install a hotel management software system in Nigeria?

2. Is it an automated system or one has to keep inputting figures from time to time?

3. Does location matter? Can I get it cheaper for a location in Ibadan as opposed to Abuja?

Op if you're a developer and you are comfortable with python.....check out ODOO https://odoo.com it's an erp that will handle everything you need. From hotel management to POS to Accounting and hr/employees

Best part is its absolutely free (but if you need more features you have to customise it yourself or get a developer that will do that for you)

An incident at an airport really put me off.

This one time I was traveling by a certain airline - lets call it Amirates. My flight was going to be more than 24 hours, so lets just say I was very comfortably dressed. Now I enter the airport and started walking towards the business class queue to check in my luggage. One of the staff members approaches me and tells me please join another line - the one for Economy Class passengers. I wouldn’t have had an issue but I had paid for this ticket and I did not find that reasonable. I let him know that I was heading to the correct queue. He asked me to show my ticket. I did. He says he’s sorry, puts on those happy faces, says a thing or two and tells me to have a pleasant flight.

While this might not be a big deal, I really felt bad that how people have this biased perspective on how rich and successful people are supposed to look and behave and would not accept that looks do not define a person.
