Whether it is a synonym or not both are different based on context (noun or verb). No doctor I repeat no doctor can order a MLS into doing what is good for the betterment of the patient. A doctor can order a fellow doctor but when the services of another professional is needed he requests for it cos he so desires of it.

Yes MLS only few years back blown into a degree just like every other course has its humble beginning as Medicine started as health attendant and now MBBS degree so it will only take a little time we'll get there.

Everyone is guilty of hasty generalisation so no qualms.
