Whoever prays in tongues builds up himself, but whoever prophecies, builds up the church. So yes, actually praying in tongues is something even the person praying doesn’t understand, unless there is an interpreter of tongues.He says to pray in both the Spirit (tongues) and also in the understanding.

The abuse of speaking in tongues has gone so bad to the point I saw someone walking on the road and he was speaking in tongues for no just reason. I just gazed at him. The book of acts let us know that the apostles gathered themselves, and from my understanding they may be praying and waiting on God when spirit came upon on them, in our churches today before someone utters a word of prayer he will use almost an hour speaking in tongues

If you wanna help, hit the streets and help those genuinely in need. Organize scholarships for poor/indigent students, give to orphanages, help pay hospital bills, patronize artisans, support petty traders, hawkers, etc.

Finally, assuming everyone on NL that has a contrary view is being paid is not only extremely polar, it is childish. How do you get to believe that just because someone strongly supports a party - he or she must be paid? Do football fans get paid to support their teams passionately?
