PoliticsRe: Akpabio Urges A-ibom Workers To End Strike! by DanKan0: 1:45am On Jan 11, 2012
BlackPikiN:
GOVERNOR Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State has again called on organized labour in the state to call off their strike, restating his readiness to negotiate with them on the outstanding issues in the implementation of the N18,000 minimum wage.

Speaking through his deputy, Mr. Nsima Ekere, during the Remembrance Emblem launch and inter-denominational Christian religious service for the 2012 Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, Obot Idim, Chief Akpabio said he was willing to dialogue with labour in the overall interest of the state.

He described the week-long strike by labour movement in the state as illegal and unfair as his government was the only one in the country to have paid the new minimum wage with arrears from April, last year.

Akpabio said his government was honouring to the letter the minimum wage agreement painstakingly and freely negotiated and signed with labour.

The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Eunice Thomas, urged the public to donate to the emblem launch to enable the setting up of a revolving loan for widows and orphans of the fallen heroes, expressing the belief that the funds would be judiciously managed.

…as deputy urges labour to dialogue with FG
DEPUTY Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Nsima Ekere, yesterday, appealed to labour to embrace dialogue with the Federal Government to resolve the thorny issues in the removal of fuel subsidy in the country.

Ekere who made the appeal when he received a group of Akwa Ibom workers protesting the subsidy removal on behalf of Governor Godswill Akpabio, reasoned that rather than go on strike, it was better for labour to dialogue with the Federal Government to achieve a sustainable solution to the problem.

He described the subsidy removal as “a sacrifice today to safeguard our tomorrow,” adding that the unpalatable impact on the people was only temporary.

Logic Mind:
All of them na miscontruction of the situation. He's trying to blame the current goverment for the evils of the past abokis and obj.
The protest is against fuel subsidy but he's saying it's against something else.
The government is trying to make things better so that all those problems he's talking about will go.

Tell your leaders to declare Arewa Republic. I swear we will not fight you. I swear we will dance and even provide all the nourishment for your independence celebration.
Lol so now the future aka now is better than the past? Haha. Are the same cabals not there as was last year? Same insane sallaries? Same insane allowances. But now fuel N140 cool Did you read 2012 budget?

As government plans the removal of the fuel subsidy, and as President Goodluck Jonathan asks Nigerian to sacrifice for the future, a breakdown of the 2011 budget shows that there are billions that could be put in better use but are being wasted on presidential food, household utensils, travels and the likes.
In next year’s budget, the presidency will like to spend N1.5b on household repairs. His deputy, Sambo, is seeking N3b for trips and stationeries while both are asking for N1b for food. The budget proposal also makes provision for N16.64 million as rent payable on the official residence of the Vice President.

Or is that Aboki + OBJ? hahaha. I dey laugh. Why dont you holla your governors for Biafara? Or do they love that Abuja money just as much as the rest of PDP+ Cabals.? cool cool cool.

As an Igbo man I will definitely prefer an Igbo-only country. We have all we need to make it.
Its the best way if split occurs. However we cant have every single group calling for his own country. For example a country called middle belt would be just like Nigeria really.

However split/federalism wont happen actually nothing will change in Naija till PDP is removed one way or another   cool cool

I laugh at people calling for southern Nigeria like it wont be the same as this Nigeria we are in now lool. In fact Im happy let us have our arewa. Why should I even worry about your Southern Nigeria. Seems to me its the SE people calling for southern Nigeria by force anyway.

At least 50 people were killed in clashes between rival ethnic groups in the state of Ebonyi in south-eastern Nigeria.

Police and security forces have been sent to the area after the violence flared up following a long-running land dispute between the Ezza and Ezilo peoples.

It comes at a time when President Goodluck Jonathan has already declared a state of emergency in response to violence in the north of the country carried out by the Islamist group Boko Haram.

Insiders know what's going on as does GEJ + PDP that's why the Fisherman is 'slow to react' Good news. However source needs verification just like all the other articles saying it was Boko Haram.

PoliticsJonathan Grapples With Expanded Protest Agenda by DanKan0(op): 4:08am On Jan 10, 2012
President Goodluck Jonathan has not only united his opponents against himself in a way no president or head of state before him has done, he now faces the distinct possibility of either being impeached or swept away through a revolutionary wave of popular protests. From Lagos to Abuja, Ibadan to Kaduna, and in many other cities in Nigeria, West, North, East and South, hundreds of thousands of protesters stormed venues designated for rallies against the removal of what the Jonathan government described as fuel subsidy. The protests were both remarkable and eye-opening, not only for the revival of Fela’s music in Lagos, and its restoration to its place of genius and primacy as protest music, but also for the seething public disdain for government’s ineptitude.
