Well done oga Spyder..... I prefer the first gate. I also prefer the stainless to the iron. Those are personal preferences though. May be you could put a belt on the wall outside that demarcate up and down so that three colours could be used. Massive transformation you are doing boss.... |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: My Disastrous Banking Job Interview On The 5th Of October 2015 by danny34(m): 11:16pm On Oct 06, 2015 |
espionagesavvy: A top recruitment agency was recruiting for the bank at enugu. I arrived at the venue very early and sat in a small room with the few persons that had arrived, after a while people trickled in until the room was filled and the seats fully occupied, people had to stay outside, when the time for the interview was upon us, one of the officials of the recruitment agency came and addressed us about the importance of marketing to the bank, our careers, and to us as young people ( we didn't apply for marketing position, they didn't inform us on the role we would be interviewed for nor the name of the bank). The very funny stuff was that the job seekers were all in suit, sweating profusely, but none could muster the courage to put on the ceiling fan, when I asked the man closest to the switch to do so, he simply replied, "o boy u no get leg to waka go put am"
The interview.
This was my first interview, so I was a little nervous but excited, I had nothing to lose, they either accept me or reject me, I told myself people go to war and they don't shit their pants, I was just going to face a human not a tiger and have a constructive talk with the person. Names where been called, I didn't want to seat, I stood outside the room with some very nervous ladies and gents and they really appeared nerve wrecked, jittering and scared, I decided that I would not appear frightened, and that was the mistake I made.. It got to my turn, I walked into the office and faced my nemesis, my interviewer sparked
" MR Man who told you to enter in the first place, you are supposed to stand in the doorway until I give you permission to enter"
I apologized immediately and was asked to sit and then hand my cv over.
The first question, "mr man, what is your name" Sir my name is Ambrose ochuko
"Tell me about yourself"
I had practiced this question numerous times, so I was really eloquent. He laughed after I was done, and said " oboy you cram this thing". No sir I didn't, I had prepared myself for this question and the likes sir, I prepared myself for the interview Sir..
So you said you were the best in your class right? Yes sir I replied.
"What course?" International studies and diplomacy sir,
He laughed again, "you have entered my trap because I would ask you difficult questions and you are expected to give me the correct not near correct answers.
Tell me about the foreign policy of obasanjos government in 2000."
Sir, nigeria during the regime of general sani abacha from 1993 to 1998 was regarded as a pariah state, obasanjo tried to reintroduce nigeria as a responsible member of the global committee of nations and....
"stop there, you are speaking Grammer for me, what is pariah, eh..".
pariah sir is..."
shut up, I know it..
"You have failed that one" but sir I protested, "see i won't argue with you, continue speaking Grammer, I liked this, he said with a very ominous laughter, the lady sitting with him joined in the laughter, I felt weak..
"Your next question is tell me the origin of the igbos?"
No problem sir, I started, the igbos originate from the volta congo region in africa, they..
"wait there is that it, are you sure you did your african history well, university of Benin abi, are you sure you even graduated"... Is that the only origin of the igbo race,
sir, there are traditions of origins which postulate that the igbos are from Israel and also another which say that the progenitor of the igbo people came from the sky, but these are just hemitic hypotesis and the latter is just untrue, " who told you that the igbos are not from Israel eh, you don't have the right to say that, what do you think you know" I just tire.. Em, he turned to the lady and asked if she had any questions for me, to which the lady looked at me as if I was fart or even poo, a demeaning look with a laughter replied, Abegi no questions.
"Well what can someone who studied international studies and diplomacy do in a bank sef" Sir I began, international stu... "I have heard you, you can now go, we will get back to you..
I was disappointed not that I knew I had lost the job, but the total disregard of professionalism the recruiting office displayed. So if i may advise you, if you are seeking a job opportunity, don't appear confident, simply be downbeat and downtrodden. My first job interview was a total disaster but I learned valuable lessons from the episode. Let me start by saying that you didn't do any thing wrong appearing confident in that interview. The problem was the first impression you created. There is a saying that " there is no second chance in making the first impression ". You walked in and took a seat.. That was a no no no. Courtesy demands you wait and be asked to seat. Guess, they felt you were proud. But your interviewers were rude, lacked professionalism and ethics. They felt you carried your shoulder too high. The job is a marketing one contract staff job. That was why it was outsourced. Finally, don't argue with and interviewer. When going for an interview, be calm, compoused and put on a smile. Be confident but don't appear proud. Next time, be confident and approach any interview..... My one kobo |

ceeyucee: Your survey covered 5 geopolical zones and you started and concluded it in 2months with just 4people?
You achieved this fit while keeping up with the responsibilities of ur job?
Only Lie Mohamed and Sahara Reporters can be farther from the truth.
Pls don't blame ur poor performances @ oral interviews on your Yoruba dialect. Wonder how u scaled through the written stages of ur interviews.
This trash you posted here has betrayed ur BSc @ceeyucee, he is not lying. This is a survey, a research and what you should have asked was his sample size, what indicators he looked for. Believe me two months was a very long time to finish it. In april 2014, i have a key developmental need survey in Enugu state for Social and Economics right initiative (SERI). I am to visit every community and look and for just 4 tins. I did the 114 communities in less than a month and submitted. He is doing a geographical zone, it could be 5 people per local government in each state and with a structured questionnaire and mobility a state can be done in 4 days. This is research and the sampling technique makes it very easy or difficult. My volunteer exprience in NGO taught me that data is unrealiable cus a few individual becomes a yardstick to judge the whole population. He is not lying.... |

dultmax: You are fired.......This is what my boss told me this morning because of my love for Buhari.
After completing my service year in 2013,holding a Bsc in Economics, I knew I had to hussle real hard because now I know am on my own. My father has done something by funding my education and I have to stop asking him for money but the situation of the country puts me in a status I can call ADULT CHILD.
I will wake up and ask my old man for pocket money which sometimes he will give and sometimes he will not. I have many things to do with money that are needs. I have to look good, eat, shave, and wash but sometimes i can be so broke that there will be no kobo to even buy 20 naira Ariel to wash my boxers. Life seems to be so difficult and I say to myself, I have to find a solution.
I picked my laptop and i went to NCC, (Nigerian Communication Centre) located in Agbowo area in Ibadan, a place where i can get a free wireless to access the internet and I logged on to the the Job and Vacancies Section on Nairaland where I applied for some vacancies posted online. Before the end that week, I started seeing text messages of Interview Invite on my Phone and I was happy thinking I can Never fail an Interview.
My first Interview was at JUMIA and its worth an experience. It was an interview based on 5 stages, which includes writing skill, typing skill, oral, phone conversation and finally an interview with the boss. To cut the story short, I am never get pass the oral stage. Maybe because my dialect is the YORUBA ENGLISH type.
I attended another interview with Stanbic Bank and i was given the DSA (Direct Sales Agent) position. I was referred to Workforce to do some documentation before i read some posts about the externalities of marketing and what i found was mind bugling. I refused to continue with the process since I don't think I can meet up with the Target.
Finally, I met one Business man, The CEO of Hasraph Global Services who after giving me some interview, decided to give me the position of Personal Assistant. He said there will be no salary but i should be sure of a token everyday i come to work and weekend bonus.
I accepted since there will be some token and I have no other option. I took up the Job and things were better. At least, i can boast of 1000 naira anytime and that can take care of some needs. I know the situation will be temporary.
Just one day, i received a call from a colleague who asked if i can conduct a Survey for him. Without hesitation, I accepted and he gave me the topic to work on but the survey has the whole country as its scope. This seems to be very challenging because I have no experience of such wide scope and i have to read and work on the best analytical tool to use for. I employed for other colleague and we covered 5 geo-political zones of the country excluding the North East due to insecurity (Boko Haram)
I recieved 500k for the Job and i completed the Survey in 2 months. My results were to be presented to AJOLAYE INTEGRATED SERVICES who funded the project in a conference room situated in a Hotel in Oyo. This is my first experience meeting with doctors and professors defending my survey results and explaining my method of analysis.
I received a pass mark and commendations and i felt very happy. I never told anyone it was my first experience and now i know the reasons why we need to study chi square, binomial theorem and all those econometrics while in the University.
I resumed back as the P.A and anytime my boss talks about the present Administration, he criticizes him and I told him...Sir if you know what the previous administration has cost this country, you will know buhari is a messiah. I told him from my survey, I got lot of experience and I learnt a lot about statistics and data. The previous Administration has ruined this country. he got angry and told me that his turnover has declined and as such, this administration is very poor. I interrupted again telling him it was due to dwindling oil prices and its not the fault of the President. He got angry and said YOU ARE FIRED....I left for my house....asking myself....am i wrong to support the President?
Your opinion is needed..... Yes, you are not wrong to support the president. Don't wail, instead forge ahead. Seek unpaid internship with anyone international NGO near you. Become a volunteer in any of those NGO. Having successfully conducted a nationwide survey and a trained economics, you are adequately qualified to work as a monitoring and evaluation specialist. Every experience gathered now counts. From the proceed of that survey you did, start your masters, take interest in development studies, you can run this program while still being a volunteer and doing programs for them, you will be paid but on per program basis. By the time you are done with Msc, believe me you will International NGO'S job waiting for you. My one kobo |
