2. You can use a rental into the US.
3. Depends on the border agent. You could be given up to 6mths. Also, note that the agents can also turn you back at the border; you visa does not guarantee you entry.

well said , was given 6months on my i-94, probability of em turning you back is like a 50-50 chance if you dont give a reasonable reason for wanting to enter the US, bur note that you are granted the i-94 once and u can use it until you are ready to leave Canada and then you can go return it its not like every time you are driving in your giving a new i-94

I go generally advise say make u try do first semester now. that way e go dey on record say u don report for the school and say u at least show for wetin u come do.
After that u fit sort yourself. I hear say USCIS or wetin be dat dem name fit start to dey follow person if the person enter for port of entry but no show.
Another advise be say if u register for school, u fit find any kind job, no matter how yeye im be, but for the sake of getting a SSN. once u get dat one, your arrangee and other runs and plans would be perhaps easier.

I doubt if you would see any bank that sells caanadian dollars I went with USdollars just that anytime you buy stuffs dey would wanna assume ur spending canadian dollars so dey woould give you back your chenge in canadian dollars I experienced this so many times in toronto. Nuring do you but you need to understand the way the Canadian visiting visa works its a 1year visit visa it starts to read when ur stamped into the country remember the duration of time on your visa is the period you are allowed to live the country have fun ma broderman nurin do you carry money o, i fink sometimes the Canadian dollars is even higher the the US dollars, those embassy pple funny self why them go give person 1year single entry, anyways have fun

@House it wasn't an easy application cus i had to study dat website 24hrs for like a month reading inbtwn the lines cus i know for sure that Canadian embassy remains one of the most technical embassies in Nigeria

when i applied i had to put all necessary documents , i worked with the highest paid telecom in Nigeria and ma mum owned a school so we both sponsored ourselves ma employment letter introduction letter hotels payments made on ma previous trips to Germany.France south Africa.England etc some shares document photocopy of ma debit card ma tenancy agreement in Nigeria, birth certificate, payslips, letter of undertaken, Ma mum was a 1st time traveler so she had sub,it even more documents marrage certificate, all documents concerning her school, men it was a sack of documents , but still i knew it guaranteed nothing , cus i know ma bosses at work who where denied this visa , i knew of people who visit the US like its there home who where denied Canadian visa i also knew of people who had visited Canada b4 and where denied renewals, well in all the visas i have applied for i think i put more effort in the Canadian 1, i call it visa wif a reputation,

Ma broder Canada just dey nuring much nice place anyway was in Canada for about a month but ma mum stayed for about 2months , flew with KLM transited at Amsterdam for like 6hrs landed in Toronto immigra wan interrogate ma life cus ma mama carry the whole Lagos market bur it all ended up good anyways spent the 1st 2days in a hotel in Toronto and then headed to Windsor about 4hrs drive from Toronto , after ma visit i headed to the US wrap up ma vacation

The last time i applied for a Canadian visit visa with ma mum i fink may 2010 it took about 15 working days and we where granted a 6months visiting visa each, but instead of contacting the Canadian high commission you should be contacting the courier company you used in sending it, i used ups and after 15days i tracked ma parcel at the ups website and it was ready

i know a very close friend of mine who came into the US with a student visa finished school and wanted to regularise his papers met an american fell in love with her lavished her with so much money i mean so much money running into thousands of dollars bought her a car married her , now 2years into there marriage there was a downturn in ma friends business and he became broke, he has been the 1 takin care of the bills for the past 3years and now he pleads with his wife to assist in paying some of the bills she refuses and starts to insult him telling him how stupid and useless he is , this ma paddy who is over 35 cries everyday the woman even went as far as cheating on him all because standard of leaving has dropped if he opts out which he plans to do soon , i guess that fooolish woman would come to nairaland and say ma hubby left me after he got his papers nonsenceeeeee,

If there is a child involved put your hubbys ass on child support i mean him go dey pay on a monthly basis and stop using innocent kids as a blackmail , Even all this women saying ma hubby dumped me after he got his papers can you confidently say in all em years you where married you where perfect , i feel sorry although sometimes some men deceive there way into getting there papers but i think we should listen to both sides of the story simple,

1. if she has previously paid a visa appt fee of 5800 and dosent get a date b4 the 2nd of feb as stated in the DS160 you guys filled then she hasn't used the 5800 yet bcus she hasn't booked an appointment yet

Nobody is contradicting nobody just explanations in different forms, from my understanding you haven't booked an appointment and you haven't appeared for an interview you are scared because you have filled the DS160 online and indicated date of travel but still havent been able to book an appointment, like i said earlier on all fees paid expires after 1 year, You can book an appointment anytime and re fill your DS160 again, its dosent affect the fee , the only reason you would be required to pay another appointment fee of 5800 is if you have a date and didnt appear and failed to cancel 48hrs to the date of your appointment , as regards the visa fee the only reason you would have to pay another is if you actually appear and you are denied , now note that even if you have a date and you have paid for your visa fee and you fail to appear and you are still interested in appearing you pay for another appointment fee and not another visa fee,

I dont understand what you are writing if you have paid 5800 for appointment fee and you dont have an appointment yet you dont have to pay another appointment fee because you haven't used it yet it dosent expire till after a year,
Now if you have paid visa fee and you havent used it yet same applies , if you have submited a DS 160 and you dont have a date yet you wait till u get a date and you fill another form dosent matter how many forms you fee,

The only condition you pay another appointment fee 5800 is if u make an appointment and you failed to appear then you would have to pay another appt fee,
and the only reason you should pay another visa fee is if u have been denied a visa ok,

Here`s my 2-cent for anyone coming to the US with or without their tuition in their pockets

1.  Make sure you can pay your rent or you have a rent free arrangement.  Its been a couple of degrees below in Marylandm for some days now.  You dont want to be homeless.  Also, make sure you can pay for your first semester.

2. There are scholarships out there.  Even for international students.  When they tell you you`re not eligible, please still apply.  They can only say NO.  They can`t beat you.  My brother got a full scholarship when I made him ask because he wouldn`t ask Typical Nigerian.  ASK!!!

3.  Whatever you do, never you fall out of status.  I`ve said this before, ask for a loan from the school if they have one or ask for a deferred payment plan.  Go to your Intl Student coordinator if you ever get into financial trouble.

4.  Never. I repeat, Never you expect your friends and relatives in America pay your tuition.  I am a mother of 3 kids, daycare for all 3 of them is $1,860 a month.  Day care alone.  I`m not going to take a second job to see a family member through graduate school.
The best my husband and I can do is to provide food, shelter, clothes, transportation and pay for my brother`s books.  Come to think of it, that`s a lot from an "american"

5.  Be that brilliant student.  Its easy to make a GPA of 4.0 out of 4.0.  Considering you are not eligible to work and you should have all the time in the world to study. .  When you make that high GPA, ask your Dept. Chair if they can offer you a Graduate assistant position or a research assistant position.  You`ll be surprised how much a 4.0 GPA can give you.

6.  Some schools, maybe not all but I can talk for Morgan State University allow international students to work 20hrs a week within the school.  Look around the school for such opportunity.  Get a job at subway . , library, canteen,  it`ll put some money in your pocket.  If you don`t get one as soon as you start your studies, keep checking and dont try to look good.  In the US no one watches .

7.  In all things, apply wisdom.

8.  You `re is not the same as Your .  I just want to hit people when they say " Your looking good" or " Your acting goofy" whichever is applicable.  It is you are looking good or you are acting goofy.

i do see people who obtain their permit after two weeks after their medical examination, i really don't know what could have kept mine with them for so long, can anybody in the house offer me any advice on this, cos i was thinking of writing them to know what the problem is and besides its getting late pls any advice house
