@justwise, thumbs up to the good works you are doing on this forum and particuarly this thread. pls i want to ask is it true that the cdhc do verify school credentials and transcripts that you submit from your alma matter during their investigations when you apply for your student TRV. thanks

@all,pls i want to ask that is it true that the canadian consular do request for verification of credentials from one's alma mata/schools attended to knw if trully one had bn to dos schls during the visa processing period.

@samdams, you only need to quote the first year tuition fee and other expenses you might incur in your first year of studies. in regards to the countries of residence, if your stay had been in Nigeria then you have no problem just fill in Nigeria or any other countries where you have lived over the period of years stated on the form. i hope this helps.

@bumdish, thanks alot, actually the reason why i am asking this is because i applied to a school dalhousie university and they are requestin that i should do toefl but i laready had a university degree and am going for my second undergraduate degree, meanwhile toefl is not what it used to be in the past , people are now using it as a means to siphon people of their money, some are doin it for 40k, in some places you see it at 50,000 and in a place my friend told me its an arrangee kind of a thing,and its around N120,000, i just cant imagine myself going through that when i can do a placement test when i enter dalhousie at $100 before starting, tis really awful seeingthings like this in nigeria.

@all, is it compulsory for me to do toefl or ielts examination before i can apply for the student visa, pls i need enlightenment. thank you.

@all is it a must that i must hold my BTA when entering.
MOREOVER, IS IT COMPULSORY FOR ME TO DO THE TOEFL TEST BEFORE I CAN SUBMIT MY DOCS TO THE EMBASSY.

@segzy, if you are going for visitation, your sponsor can send you the invitation letter, but if he cant pay your bills then i will advice that you process your application such that you are going for a vacation,then you will have to your hotel reservations with you as part of the docs you need for the embassy but that invitation letter wont be necessary in that regard. better still go to www.cic.gc.ca and click on visitors then you will see a lot options there.

@segzy,if you applying as a student then you dont need the letter of invitation,process the student route, that will be better for you instead of going as a visitor, however it all depends on you as a person, what ur interests are. since he is ready to sponsor you. if you get there as a visitor you might have to come back to nigeria to process a student visa.

@all, what time of the year, can one start applying for federal skilled immigrant program, the information they have on their site is not giving a pointer to that.........

@teachme, its actually 3 months but its always good to give an allowance of 4months if possible due to extended periods of time when the Visa officials don't authorize you to o for your medicals on time which may necessitate another start date from the school.i hope this helps.you may also go over this thread carefully, you will learn more.

@paschal,what if u r applying 4 an undergraduate program of 4yrs,wil u have to state the total amt of ur tuition for d 4yrs on ur visa applicatn form.

Helo house,I had a cgpa of 3.18 on a scale of 5 in botany but i have d intention of studyn computer science-bioinformatics combination @undergraduate level at the university of alberta because i want to major on bioinformatics,does anyone knw if univ. Of alberta do respond to queries through email on time, because I knw they are credible,bt i've applied to dalhousie university b4,they requested for my transcript frm d university i graduated frm,bt i asked them will they waive the english proficiency requirement for me if i send the transcript,for the past five weeks they've not responded to my email,i feel so terrified,I called them,bt their response was that i shud send it n my alma mata is on strike right now-OOU.

Helo house,I've bn encountering some problems with the login module and form details submissn processn scripts iam using on the website am developing. The login script is not working as I expect it,am using WAMP server to test my files and I created a template file for the session of each logged-in users, so also the form detail submissn script is nom submitting into d database,I do check after testn the details in the db-mysql if its submitted,so I nid a functional login script that I can easily customize to my use and a form detail submissn script. web gurus pls help...

@chrisvic,Thanks alot,I'll do just that, and can I use the joomla script as my front end instead of using the combinatn of statict pages in combination wit the dynamic pages being referenced frm the joomla components perphaps I may be able to link the forms on the website with the form processors on the joomla script... @bamshy, thanks,i got the info, all my docs r in my former name, i didnt send any doc with a different surname tn d schl as palliative assumed,they r only delayn in returning mails due to d volumes of mails they receive everyday, though am stil waiting 4my alma mata to resume frm strike. I already knw d change of name wil cause certain ripple effect so am planning to use d new name,not dt I already used it,

I guess I'll continue with my former docs though I did it of recent but my e-passport is in my former name,bt if my dad's statemnt of acct is in reflecting d new name,my admissn letter bearing my new name and my certificates bearing my former surname,then there shouldnt be any problem bt am only thinking abt d passport bearn my former name if its not going affect my application,though i have my affidavits and my family is aware of the change of name...

@palliative, thanks for ur response, actually to be straightforward with you, the reason why i changed my surname (only) is for spiritual reasons which most of us don't really believe in neither will the chdc believe in as well but i just think if there are supporting docs that will help me get through without the hassles of do this do that, i will so much appreciate it and i dont want anything that will affect me in the nearest future in regards to my surname which has posed alot of risk on me.though will like to hold that but that is jsut the issue around the name though my docs are still in my former name so also my certificates but just in case i want to go on using other docs with the new name i really want to know what may happen.
