vickysunmomi: I want to come home because that is the only chance I have before I finish my program. I have filled the DS-160 and paid visa fee, it is just frustrating that the pre-approval is taking longer than expected. I won't travel if I do not have a date. Thank you Good luck on your adventure, I had shared my 1 cent base on passed experienced with logistical error within Nigerian system. Keep us posted |

vickysunmomi: Hello everyone, I am trying to renew my F1 visa but I am still in U.S right now. I am trying to get a visa date before coming home. I have paid my visa fee with the new portal and still pending appointment request (I choose Lagos) My friend chose Abuja and was approved for appointment after 2 days. Please what is the way forward, I am so frustrated right now. Are you currently in the school ? You might want to visit the international admissions. Also if they asked you to travel back to Nigeria to complete the process DO NOT. I repeat DO NOT TRAVEL BACK. Instead visit https://usvisaappt.com/visa/ and set an appointment |

First Good morning all the scholars in the house, been a while I visited this forum.
I have a very important inquiry here for my sister who is currently trying to transition into the USA medical field, So, by any chance Do we have any Nigerian female Medical students or doctor in this forums who has done this successfully? If so please what are your challenges? How did you transits? Any further education or licensing needed? What could she possibly expect?
Your answers to my questions would be highly appreciated. |

LagosismyHome: Nobody can predict or tell you what your fate will be. Its all subjective on how the VO is convinced that he or she should issue you the visa. That you gave birth in the US in usually not an issue .
Did you pay all your hospital bill and declare your intention to give birth in the US, if yes then it usually fine if no then it can be come a problem
If you paid and declared your intention..... then prepare the normal way a student would prepare for an F1 visa interview and hope for the best My long time wife @lagosIsmyhome.. how have you been ? It’s high time you visit New York oo |

Regardless the airline How true is this? Help please help If this test is to be carried out in Nigeria it might be through, I’m not sure but I will say you should be prepare for it, but what I am sure is that before stepping into the USA you will need proof of COVID test at the port of entry, you will see men on military uniform with no gun, asking for your COVID test.. |

Congratulations see you in America Geeba: Visa approved @Lagos embassy Jan 5th, 2021
I give all the glory to God because he was in control! The journey has been a rollercoaster more details after the transcript...
After taking my I20 and passport & right thumb printing...
V.O: Where are you headed?
Me : I am going to the University of South Florida, for my masters in Pharmaceutical nanotechnology.
V.O: What’s this course going to do for you? Me: With a degree in Pharmaceutical nanotechnology, I would have the knowledge and skills to work in a pharmaceutical industry. I would be opportune to introduce nanotechnology to pharmaceutical industries in Nigeria. This would help improve the quality of drug products in terms of their design, delivery, and development ( I stuttered a bit at the end)
V. O: I see you had a student exchange program last year in the U.S what was that about?
Me: Yes, I attended FAMU( called the full name) for a student exchange program in advanced pharmacy practice.
V.O: What did you do there?
Me: I had lectures and participated in clinical rotations.
V.O : How long were you there?
Me: A month.
V.O : One month?
Me: Yes.
V.O: What is Korent Services?
Me: That’s my father’s company. He is sponsoring my education.
V.O: What do they do there?
Me: It’s an Oil servicing company. They repair and service equipment used in the drilling of oil.
V:O: What does your mother do?
Me: She is an Optometrist.
V.O: How many siblings do you have ?
Me: I have five siblings.
V.O: And what’s the oldest doing?
Me: I am the oldest.
V:O: the one after you ?
Me: He is in Manchester University obtaining his masters degree.
Okay, I will be issuing your visa. Take this you will find information on the collection of your passport.
Me: Thank you.
She asked for my DS160 confirmation page and I gave her.
I want to give glory to God because these questions were from him. I prepared and allowed him to do the rest. Thanks to everyone who posted their transcript. I learnt a lot from them. Praise God!
The details: I deferred my course from Aug 2020 to Spring 21 and I applied for an emergency appointment. I was lucky. I got it. But I had to cancel my appointment after flying into Lagos because of the endSARS protest and also because my SEVIS payment hadn’t reflected (you need to allow 72hrs before appointment I think) I scheduled another appointment on the 4th of December . The embassy rescheduled it for me to Jan 5th. I can only Praise God that all the effort was not in vain. |

Congratulations kinibd: I was denied the first time on December 31st 2018 at the Lagos Embassy, My original I 20 got to me on the 2nd of January and so I had to go with a scanned copy for the interview and the first question the VO asked me then was why did I come with a scanned copy, I told her that the original was still on transit and the look on her face was not encouraging and after asking me why this school and who will be sponsoring me, I got the pink paper and so I went back and requested for another I 20, made sure I got it then booked another interview at abuja
Got to the Abuja Embassy,
Me: Good morning (while smiling)
VO: Good morning pass me your passport please
Me: Passes Pasport while still smiling
VO: I can see from your F1 that you are applying for a student Visa can I see that
Me: Yes I am while passing the F1
VO: Have you ever been out of the country before?
Me : Yes I had my first degree in Ghana
VO: What did you study
Me: ICT
VO: What?
Me: Information and Communication Technology
VO: while typing...I dont see anything like that here
Me : I filled it in it should be there
VO: Oh i see it now...calls the name of my school and I nod then he asks how many schools gave me admission
Me : two schools
VO: what schools
Me: St Clouds State University and Concordia University St Paul
VO: Why did you choose St Clouds
Me: i chose St Clouds because of a couple of reasons, firstly they have a Business Computer Research Laboratory Equipped with workstations and enterprise level servers for research and teaching purposes and...
VO : cuts me off, yes well all schools in the usa have very good laboratories tell me why you chose this school
Me: well at the Laboratories at St Cloud, they create virtual machines that are used to support teaching database auditing and networking packets dumping and analyses and also...
VO: cuts me off again...well most schools have that as well
Me: Oh well then i chose them because they gave me a scholarship
VO: oh really, (looks at my I 20) well your scholarship is for $3000 and your total fees is about 19,000, how are you going to take care of the rest
Me: oh no, my Tuition and Fees is $9,500
VO: looks at I 20 again, okay so who is going to be paying for the rest
Me: My Parents
VO: what do they do
Me: My mom whose statement I have is blablabla
VO: I'm sorry what?
Me: my mom is blablabla and my dad is blablabla
VO: How did you hear about the school?
Me: One of my undergraduate course lecturer went to St. Clouds for a seminar and when he came back, he couldnt stop talking about the school and their laboratories and when i started searching for schools online to pursue my masters degree and St Cloud popped up again, i checked them out and the course they offered alligned with my career goals.
VO: Types for a while. Looks at me. So what are you going to be doing after you finish this program?
Me: The number of internet users in Nigeria has grown from about 20% of the population in 2010 to more than 50% of the population today and the more people that use the internet, the more networks there are, the more security there needs to be on them, this course will help me institute policies that protect organizations physical data and digital information and so i could become an IT consultant, I know i can, i tried to infuse what i learnt in my under graduate studies into my dads business by setting up a website and also creating a program that helps keep track of stock records.
VO: Can i see your bank statement
Me: passes it
VO: I am going to check this out and if I find anything wrong you will be banned from entering the USA, do you understand
Me: yes I do.
VO: types for a while, take this paper, (he gives me a white slip) you have to keep it safe because you will need it to enter the United States. Then he types for a while and gives me a yellow paper and says again if i find anything wrong with this account you will be banned, are you sure you still want to submit it
Me: Yes Sir
VO: okay welcome to the United States and make sure you keep that white slip safe ok
Me (while smiling) : okay sir thank you very much.
I hope this helps someone, I owe it all to God, I prayed like I had not prepared at all and I prepared like I had not prayed at all but its all the grace of God.
Last Bullet: I was so tensed the first time and so while rehearsing my answers for the second time, i noticed that smiling made me more relaxed and that was how i was able to overcome any nervousness, by smiling almost all through the interview. |

Prepare very well all the V.O wants to assess is your genuineness as an F-1 student
Interviewed at Window 1 by a White man after sharing Blue Papers for those i was behind on the queue
Me : Good Morning V.O: Good Morning,How are you? Me: Am fine and You. V.O: Am good ,Thank you very much Me. Pass me your Passport and I-20(Passes it to him ) V.O: What will this Doctorate degree do for you? Me: This degree will give me the skills, knowledge and every other thing needed to develop myself in Mechanical Engineering and also gives me the opportunity to get the skills to establish an energy research laboratory in Nigeria to solve the energy issue we are currently facing in Nigeria, this issue had lingered on from when I was small and is yet to be solved whereas this is a past scenario in U.S.A,and am looking at transferring the Technology to Nigeria by learning how the US passed through this hurdle because am quite sure US was once having energy challenges V.O: Why WVU? ME: WVU is a Tier 1 public research institution in the U.S. The mechanical engineering department in the Mechanical and Aerospace Faculty of the Benjamin Startler college of Engineering and Mineral Resources has a concentration in Energy Technologies which aligns with my research goals and Interest and gives me the opportunity and skills to come and establish an energy research laboratory in Nigeria where research in Bleep Energy generation will be carried out (As I was rushing and giving him as he dey hot…O gbona feli feli……… As inNo stopping, Matching the pedal really hard like say I have finally picked up and gained Utmost Momentum to Crush any V.O just Kidding ooooo ) V.O: (Cuts in ) Just relax, relax ,relax Me: ( Me for my mind :No time una must hear this…… Continued my explosive jargons) Also among the University I got admitted to it offers me an affordable Tuition V.O: Do you have a Masters? Me: No V.O: Your Highest Qualification is Bachelors? Me: Yes, Have a Bachelor from Federal University of Technology,…… ,in Bleep Engineering , Year 20.. V.O: Who is your Sponsor? Me: My Father V.O: What is he Into Me: Real Estate V.O: Do you have his bank Statement? Me: Yes ( Handed it over to him) V.O: Did you take any Standardised Test? Me: Yes, GRE had a total score of 309 157 Quantitative,152 Verbal and I also took TOEFL combined Score 101 ,Listening: 26, reading: 26, writing: 26 , Speaking : 23 V.O: Have you travelled out of Nigeria Before? Me: Yes. Went on a School trip to Niger republic in 2016 during my service Year. V.O: What do you do? Me: I work in an Bleep Company told him my position and roles. V.O: Hope the School is going to offer you research grant ( Seems He wanted to say research position) Me: Yes., they promised to award me research grant when I get to the school after registration as the department’s policy don’t award graduate positions prior to registration V.O: Do you have any Professor you will be working with? Me: Yes ,Professor Derek Johnson of the Mechanical and Aerospace Department V.O: ( Went to the school’s website and to the Mechanical and Aerospace department's faculty members website seems he could not locate the professor among the professors whose name starts with D so he asked what his second name so I told him Johnson so he found the name among professors with Letter J as his name was written Johnson Derek and not the other way round) Have you contacted him? Me: Yes I have contacted him(Cuts me) V.O : Via Email or Skype? Me: Only mail, seems he is currently busy will meet him when I get to campus V.O: Do you have a Research Thesis? Me: Yes,Generation of Bleep Energy V.O: (Seems my Fingerprint was not well captured) Did you do the fingerprinting capturing? Me: Yes (Recaptured my fingerprint himself again) V.O: What do you think might hinder this bleep energy generation in Nigeria? Me: I feel government policies might deter it and also am not sure if the technology Transfer will fit perfectly into the Nigerian system as every country has their own specification ,This is why I will need to come and establish an Energy research laboratory in Nigeria which will be specifically designed to proffer solution to a typical Nigerian Situation (cuts me) V.O: I will be approving your VISA (Brings out white paper ) You will be needing this at the Port of Entry, Pick up your Visa at Victoria Island branch. Me: (Thank you Jesus for my mind. its been God always)
Recommendation not an Expert oooo just a Guideline: 1. God first ,commit all to God’s hand(Prayer and Fasting) if it is his will it will be approved. If not just know God has a better plan for you at the moment 2. Do your research very well as it builds your confidence and you will be able to convince the V.O easily. 3. Have confidence , Be honest and conversational in your response and answer question with reasons. N:B : The V.O assess your F-1 eligibility based on the following primary factors which I was privileged to hear directly from a V.O at a USA student Visa Orientation she was even @ window 3 today: 1. Acceptance at a School 2. Possession of sufficient funds 3. Preparation for course of study ; credible and qualified students 4. Present Intent to leave the U.S at the end of studies.
FYI: Am not saying this is the ultimate , I advise your expand your horizon
Thank you very Much all God bless. we will surely meet at the Top,Love you all. Morgantown awon boys tin bo ooooo . Awon ti Evansdale ni WVU where una dey let us hook up abeg . |
