Well, considering the country was in the hands of an interim government, it was not really a coup. What could shonekan had done? Babangida resigned only a couple of months after reducing the election to nothing. It only made sense that the Millitary would be back in power and Abacha took advantage of the gap.

The main problem with the argument that IBB now gives is that this claim of a supposed coup was not based on facts considering the situation in the country at the time. The reasons he gave for annulling the elections then are completely different from the reasons he offers us more than 15 years later.  I really urge that we demand he provide proof for this claim before we give him our time. Else, this is what we will continue to have happen. People will continue to manufacture stories to feed us daily. Only a couple of months ago, his side man claimed it was Obasanjo to blame for the annulment, now a supposed millitary coup?  what next? Haley's comet? lol
