OK.

The point where he went in the direction of the fan to the point he went to get the gun from under the bed on the other side of the bed, he did not notice that the lady is not in bed?

On his way to the bath with the gun, he could not take a second to check behind to see if His woman is safe?

Sagamite: No doubt.

But, no 1, if we are going to co-habit peacefully in a society we need to have terms and conditions for living together. Those terms and conditions might suppress some desires, that is life. It is fair as long as it is democratic and flexible (i.e. changeable over time as taste change). This lack of flexibility is the key fault in fundamentalist Islamic governance. They win through democracy and might decide to permanently force their philosophy on others for life.

No 2, as I said, I am against conservatism too. I am just on the case of liberalism nowadays as it is their junk that is ruling. I am only happy with a sensible standpoint. Sensible always gets the superior outcomes, it is the balance.

Fck freedom! Freedom is always abused. I am for sensible and balanced regulation.
Personally, I nauseate every time I conjure up effort to watch keeping up with the Kardashians, Jersey Shore, Geordie shore and all those sense-numbing programes.

However, I feel comfortable knowing people still hold that 'freedom' to choose , however absurd, the programmes they want to watch.

You detest freedom? Would you rather live in North Korea then? lol

I get you though.
CelebritiesRe: Lest We Immortalize Nuisance …the “goldie” Situation. by dare2think: 12:53pm On Feb 21, 2013
Sagamite: In my case, make sure you say: Liberalism vs Sensible

I am against liberalism, I am against conservatism, I am all for being sensible. The problem now is that this liberalism is rapidly and self-righteously taking a dominant role in the globalised world. They call themselves the "progressives", "forward-thinkers" etc despite their moronic junk.
However Sagamite, the need for tolerance and respect for other people's choice in living their lives must not be undermined. Excessive freedom and liberal view is often regarded as self-implosion, but the same can be said of the opposite of 'progressives' and 'forward-thinkers'.

This world has had its fair share of draconian rulers who feel they hold the right in knowing how other should live their lives too.

The question is where and how do we find the balance?
What yardstick can be used to measure morality and accepted behavior?
CelebritiesRe: Lest We Immortalize Nuisance …the “goldie” Situation. by dare2think: 12:48pm On Feb 21, 2013
xpizzy: I was forced to reply this piece because i loathe the over amplification and generalization of the writers personal moral values to the general public. I am taken aback about how some people are celebrating this selfish piece that reek's of bigotry and chauvinism. To think that Entertainers are irresponsible is wanton disregard for human rights, unfair discrimination and above all a great crime against humanity. For the records am not an entertainer but Goldie Harvey doesn't deserve juxtaposition with balderdash in death.
Interesting chain of thought, I admire your insight as well.

The core underlining ideology described succinctly in your post reminds me of a certain country. The imposition of personal views and ideologies unto a larger population is nothing short of a dictatorship.

Classic case of Liberalism vs Conservatism.

Interesting reading both sides of the arguments.

Nice write up by the op with the exception of the bigotry and self-righteousness contained within.
Foreign AffairsRe: What Do You Think Of Oscar Pistorious' Explanation? by dare2think: 10:24am On Feb 21, 2013
ogugua88: It's a tricky case. People shouldn't jump to conclusions as we hardly know anything compared to the knowledge prosecutors, defense attorneys, and Pistorius, himself, have.

I don't understand how everyone's jumping to the premeditated murder scenario so quickly. People know him as being paranoid. He has no legs, making him easy to be taken advantage of. He had weapons in the house. Accidentally killing her in paranoia actually makes sense to me. I was watching Piers Morgan Tonight, where Piers was discussing the case with lawyers. Even Piers said the story makes sense.

According to an article we had to read in class, he called his sister saying things along the lines of "I've killed my woman", "God take me", and "I mistook her for a burglar". A lot of murderers have a "murder look" written on them. I don't see that look on Oscar Pistorius, who has been crying and shaking uncontrollably since last week.

I'm not siding with anyone sha. I simply don't understand how anyone can jump to conclusions already.

The chief investigator is sketchy himself. A lot of what he said and eyewitnesses described have already been unraveled, and the chief investigator is facing his own charges; that of attempted murder.

I wonder why these things can never be straightforward.
I strongly believe that you are oblivious and somewhat 'naive' to the antics of the courtroom. I advise you watch crime dramas and look at the perpetrators when they show their live court appearances, you will be astonished at what people are willing to do to influence the judge and jury before sentences are handed out.

Several times people who arrange a loved one's murder are the ones with the loudest wails and tears. If tears and show of emotions are testaments to people's innocence, we wont need lawyers.

Yoruba_Omoge: "Appears" innocent.

You should study it.

Lol reasons(s) for his tears is/are speculation(s) on our part. We don't read mind.

But just for crying and showing emotions alone makes him appear remorseful and "innocent".

How do you think these white girls get it easy?
I disagree!

Crying may make someone appear remorseful but never innocent.

Judges, lawyers and the judiciary knows better.

Anybody can cry at any time, but to be proven innocent takes more than tears.
Foreign AffairsRe: What Do You Think Of Oscar Pistorious' Explanation? by dare2think: 11:53pm On Feb 20, 2013
Yoruba_Omoge: Exactly. Most of the "evidential materials" are circumstantial so far.

Either way, deal or no deal, his career is not looking too clean.
Yea.

However, people can be convicted based on circumstantial evidence depending on the structure of the jury and the strength of the lawyers.
Foreign AffairsRe: What Do You Think Of Oscar Pistorious' Explanation? by dare2think: 11:42pm On Feb 20, 2013
Yoruba_Omoge: I don't watch paralytic sports so bare with me. Is he known for his anger? Is there a history between his anger and violence?
I read somewhere that he has a history of arrest, but he was never charged. If his arrest has to do with an anger issue, anger as a motive might possibly be used, but to what extent?
I mean, I understand what you're saying, but proving it in court is another issue.
Based on the little information that we know, a decent prosecutor would be able to prove that in court.

However, an excellent defence can counter likewise. This case will eventually boil down to evidential materials available to the prosecutors.

I suspect that he will make a deal with the prosecutors for a lesser charge of manslaughter.
Foreign AffairsRe: What Do You Think Of Oscar Pistorious' Explanation? by dare2think: 11:29pm On Feb 20, 2013
Yoruba_Omoge: True. But how do you prove that beyond a reasonable doubt?
What does he gain from her demise?
Anger has a way of eliminating any constructive motive?

some people are just psychotic and don't need a motive to murder

lol.

As long as Osaze the 'attention seeker' has anything to do with that message, considering his antics before the tournament, it makes no sense to me.

Now you making that statement, perhaps it might make sense a little bit.

Happy?

Unfortunately, this is a messenger that thrives on attention!

WARNING KESHI??

Why? did he warn him when the team was under pressure? Now the team has achieved something in his absence he comes with advises!!

Keshi should be advising him (judging from his recent actions) not the other way around.
Foreign AffairsRe: What Do You Think Of Oscar Pistorious' Explanation? by dare2think: 5:16pm On Feb 20, 2013
Sybellah: why? following your logic, i can only believe him if i was there as well
not believing and judging are 2 different things.
"i do not believe him" is different from saying "he is guilty"
in order to convince, he need to bring some evidence on the table
even the judge who will be in charge of the case have an initial opinion, still he wasnt there during the crime
and his decision would be based on further evidence, not on the fact of if "he was there or not"
somebody also said on this thread "the neighboor were lying about hearing screams from his house"
this person already judged the neighboors as liar
again did he need to be there before giving his opinion as well? no
Very correct!

Dont Understand the reasoning MO of some folks here??

too many judgmental people on this thread..
Erm, it actually goes both ways!!

Some judge him to be innocent and others judge him to be lying!

The op asks if we believe his story and people have the right to assess the information given and leave their verdict based on that information.

I dont know where all these self-righteousness is coming from!!

OK

1.You and your partner lay in bed
2. Presumably, you hear noises emanating from the bath and you sense an intruder.
3. You rise and head straight for the gun.
4. You go towards the bath and shoot straight through the door four times

Wait. From step 2 to 4 you forget one crucial step??

Your partner in step 1.

An intruder that got shot in the bathroom??

What is an intruder looking for in the bathroom?? (Million dollar soaps)

The intruder left the other rooms in the house but went to the bathroom? jokes!!

People living with partners know that it is very common that people get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom!

But no, Mr Pisterious shot straight into the bath rather than ask who was in the bath.

His explanation is a joke!

Afam4eva: Osazie is spot on. If Keshi knows that his performance in SA was a fluke, he should better resign and be remembered as one of the best coaches ever produced by Nigeria just like Clemens westerhoff. if he continues as the coach and fails, the same people that gave him money and praised him will be the ones calling for his sack. That's the story of our football. meanwhile, while it lasts, he should enjoy all that he's getting and collect more. Maga don pay this year.
Is he??

Why should he resign for being successful?

So what if he does not win anything again, at least he has won something. How many managers, both club and country, can boast of that achievement?

Ozaze is the last person that should be dishing out advices? he needs some himself after been disgraced both home and abroad!!!
