But Oga Walspring! I hope this Observation will not be detrimental for a nairalander who first shares his problem here and gets to meet a VO that has already observed the post here and knows his entire story (the "original" story before he received packaging from the professors here)

Thanks bro, the only thought that came to my mind was that the i-20 I provided was for ETSU though GSU gave me admission also. Thought I should have told him my i-20 was for ETSU, I was calm. I just can't fathom what went wrong.
Walspring:
See how little mistakes cost you.. Why providing info and the i20 of the school you didn't fill in your ds160 to the VOhuh
I think he needs to clarify what happened here. ....i didnt read it as a mistake more of he had d right school on ds160 and right i20 but they just asked him not about that school he picked but one of d schools he mentioned he applied to .

If you have to spend an extended amount of time with a person because you think they might actually be a qualified student but they keep giving you answers that don't quite make sense for whatever reason...
This is actually favoured or unmerited favour as we Naija say it. Some other interviewer or VO will not be patient with you and just deny that this : one is not making sense.....but in this case taking the time to give the person a chance because you spot "qualified " qualities

Favoured all the way ..... I pray the rest of my nairaland people be given the opportunity to express themselves or be favoured even if they go off point briefly ..

Dear Nairalanders, I need your help. My visa application was denied today, below is my transcript.
VO: Which schools did you applied to?
Me: GSU, ETSU and MTU.
VO: Tell me about the research ongoing at GSU?
Me:Smart grid network analysis using algorithm developed by GRID LAB D in enforcing QoS on electricity grid. Those where the two questions I was asked.
I want to know what could have caused the denial so I can use it to improve on my application.
Maybe too many VOs lurking here sad sad
Yesterday it was a question of why did you apply to Another school which was not the chosen school
Today it is research on another school not the chosen school
YOU ALL SEE A PATTERN ..... Throwing you off for those who just memorize previously answered questions.
I would go again and pray for a better VO that would allow you to express yourself .
Only feedback for next time - Know in fully details why the course , why each school , and the research . Maybe he felt the research statement was very abstract . Keep talking and show passion for what you plan on working for ... As long as you know that well , you cant be thrown off any question.
I cant really give you much feedback other than apply again .

Got admission to pursue MPA-MS Nursing dual program in binghamton university NY and currently looking for funding so I mailed a prof informing her about my research interests and here was her reply;
I have been involved in a number of projects that seem to align with your interests.I would be happy to meet with you to discuss current endeavors and future opportunities. Please let me know when you may be available to meet.

And I replied her that I am on Skype asking if we could meet up there but I am yet to receive her response s
For about 9days now. .
please what step do you consider appropriate from here...
I will appreciate your comment sirs

Thanks a lot sirs!
Just keep on following up , sometime they are busy with other things and also she might be travelling for conferences and stuff . What session is this for ?.
Anyway just follow up with her either by email or by calling the office , Dont make it too frequent though, i am sure once she is free she will get back to you . In the mean time start preparing well for the interview for GA because you might get her on the phone and she can give you on the spot interview so be ready now . Know well how to sell (articulate) how your past experience and future plan can add value to her projects ... Find out more about the current project (now) and then link it to your past, your strength and demonstrate the value you can bring

Most people always apply to 3 or 4 schools. I applied to one school and I was accepted, my I-20 has been delivered. Going for interview next week. Hope am save? Any hint on questions to expect.

Thanks
One school is ok (although not the preferred) as long as you have good reasons for putting all your eggs in one basket. Do you have a solid reason why only that school?

If u dont then that ur first question that u need to have an answer for

Guys good evening, I currently just got a reply from my school in USA that application has closed for fall 2016 that I should switch to spring 2017 and admission review commences by august and they further stated that it is fine to forward my documents and others, so here is my question to the forum, with the spring 2017 is it possible to make appointment with the embassy this year 2016 and end up traveling this year September?? thanks
Why didnt you check the deadline date before making an application. It would have enabled you know the session was closed before spending time on it

Secondly spring is January session so highly unlikely that admission decision will be out and you then go through Visa process to travel by Sept . ... Also there is a 30day rule that u cant enter more than 30 days before i20 start date.

Sept to Jan how many days be that ??

Thanks for the response. i do appreciate. what are the documents that i will require for this process and how soon does it takes. i wish to study in my school but since they said one cant work outside school and above 20hrs with the f1 i am so confused cus i was hoping to finance my studies with my side ways hustle.... if there is anyone that can help with this change of school OR have another idea on getting job outside please pm me for confidentiality purpose.. thanks
I always recommend you sticking to schools within your budget or finding GA before you leave. While student are allowed 20hours on campus , it is not in every case that you will see a job or if you see it might take a while . So great if you find a job but plan to see how you can get finances as backup, incase you dont get an oncampus job ... On campus 20hours would probably cover your rent (depending on how expensive the city is) and living expenses.

If you expect it to also cover half of your tuition, the struggle will be too much . You spend a lot of productive hours feeling very sad and depressed or drop out ...... Whether people find alternative way to work (maybe) but i cannot comment on that way as me no sabi that waka .

Regarding documents needed , it will be the usual requirement to get an i20 released.

Send me a pm

Hello house good afternoon.
I need your assistance in clearing my head of various thoughts. My questions is that is it possible to change school on getting to US because of fee issue to a cheaper one and if yes what does takes. Thanks you.
It been answered before ...... Let me copy and paste previous response

Yes you can transfer after getting the visa to another school (provided you have admission offcourse) . Best to start it after you cross POE

The process usually is that you notify the current school's international office of your intention to transfer. The current school adviser will then have to transfer your SEVIS record to the New School with a transfer out date given. Until that transfer is done then new school cannot issue you a new I-20 (F-1 status).

You would be expected to fill out a new i-20 request form in the new school and once transfer is done and you get the new i20 then off you go .

The key to transfer is that your current school should release your SEVIS to the new school…If they don’t for whatever reason then hummmm you have a problem . If they do then, it is not complicated process

That is the marking strategies and some people are not aware.. gringringrin
No be small marking... cool

How can a VO say otherwise in the first place. CC under F1 visa is a category like any other so it would be given equal opportunity. If the VO says otherwise that can be termed as discriminatory and u cannot discriminate againt any visa category.

That been said there are face value to things (how many things are black and white ) other factors are always considered ....

Sure its possible to get under CC but u then do the maths based on your circumstances so that when you waka , ur waka go yield fruit

Smh.... gringringrin

The VO gave you ZOBO to drink but you can't reason about it that this ZOBO is too sweet and it will cause Jedi-Jedi and you didn't bother to ask the VO what are the age range of people that got their visa with CC and check statistics as well and see why people on this thread do advice applicant to apply for university but you are here posting the above bold statement.

If I am not wrong Lemme make you understand this simple thought, Check history of those who got their visa with cc, you will notice that majority are below 26 and they might have done poly/uni course before or started school late or the gap between their waec is not more that 5 years or they have a good travelling history and those who got it almost 30 and above are very rare and the percentage is 0.00000000000000001 out of 100%.

Also do you expect the VO to tell people who came for seminar at educationUsa that they shouldn't apply to CC?
my eyes went up down and side when i read the VO heresay. ..Heresay theory and reality on ground dey different.

Actually any age can have any degree in US but when it comes to visa, the game is different.
Sure i agree not just USA , anywhere in the world. ...any age can start a degree even in naija u can write jamb at 60. The easy or lack of easy of Visa from Nigeria perspective na put comma in the journey ...

Regardless of what path easy or hard, VISA na baba God hand e dey .. May all those who desire it receive it

I agree with u. But pertaining to the age, I'm 34 yrs old.. And that bothers me what VO would be thinking I spent 13-14 yrs after O'level doing. I simply think by telling them I've been working in my father's company will help. Since my EKSU result is yet to be out...i cant include this?
I stand by comment that while u can get visa for Cc it hard especially at 34.... what advice you take is up to you .

Its easier to get visa through bsc or easiest masters based on your age (even though no visa is 100% sure) then if u don't have enough for tuition when you enter the USA transfer to CC if u are on the BSC path . (There nothing wrong with changing school )after entry. All the best

Pls house I just saw this trend on nairaland,i already read abt 20 pages with so many testimonies, I apply for MBA in a skool in california, I working on my I-20 now,my question I currently lives in Dubai should I apply from Dubai or come back home to apply, the Vo might ask me y I didn't apply it in Dubai, someone told me in dubai here I need to prove a strong ties in dubai before my visa can be granted.
A friend of mine applied from Trinidad and didn't have to go back to nigeria to answer part of your question

However she was asked to show proof of her legal status in that country and also during her interview , the VO said he has no problem issing the Visa if she has paid her school fees. So she was asked to pay her fees, attach the receipt and mail the passport to the embassy. Once the embassy received it her visa was issued .

That not d "common" process in Nigeria but that was her experience . So i think maybe other countries outside Nigeria might have different processes

[s] in USA that does not demand school fees payment upfront before awarding 1-20form[/s]
Maybe you misread it . Schools do not demand for upfront payment instead they request for evidence of fund such as bank statement to prove you or sponsor can afford the fees .
That is what is requested to release i20 and not to actually pay the school fees
