Una good afternoon o, well i must commend d op for a thread like this buh i think we should focus more on economic, political, cultural and ideological intigration

«» i think we should have something like. a development/economic font a kind of ecowas for ss states HQ(Ed) in pH or warri were the diverse people of the ss can speak with a unified voice on issues of common goal, putting more pressure on the federal govt

«» we can have our own mega city rivalling lagos through metro integration (something similar is being planned in china) forming a big city cluster through economic integration of port harcourt-yenegoa-ughelli-warri-sapele-benin city.the new city preferably named niger delta city would have designated areas for manufacturing, better housing, improved transportation(through renovation of airport facilities to int.standard ,rehabilation of roads nd possible railway link).a proper packaging would be required so such a project would be marketable for both local an int. Investors selling niger delta nd niger deltans to the world making it the new educational(7 unies),transport ndogistivs(3 int. airport, 4 sea port nd a brand new deap sea port @ warri)hubs nd a centre of xcellence for nigerian sports(9 existing stadiums)

Hmmmm niger delta of my dreams

because yorubas dont force or impose it culture on people...yoruba culture is unique, which is why it survived SLAVERY in north nd south america and became the dominant afro-culture outside africa... IGALAS,IGBIRA,ISTEKIRI,uhrobos,SOME IJAW CLANS have obvious yoruba influence but they are all UNIQUE CULTURES...yorubas see them as brothers(shared history) but not as yorubas
Wat mumu influence does yoruba have on d urhobos, I should have expected anything coming from a fulani slave who is is still pained about d loss if ilorin to his slave master

fratermathy:
You can argue this all you want and use anecdotes drawn from primordial societies, you'd never win! All other ethnic groups in Nigeria know that Isoko is a cultural branch of Urhobo. You speak of other clans breaking free and yes I agree! They have tried and are still trying! What they dont understand is this: which tribe is Urhobo? Answer: None! Urhobo is not a language or a tribe but a common term used to delineate a group of people with an homogenous culture and related languages! Urhobo is a cultural indicator to which Isoko belong!

Even in larger ethnic groups like Yoruba and Igbo, there are factions that claim to be different. i.e. Ikwerres, Ikas, Ukwuanis, for Igbo; Oron, Eket, for Ibibio; Igbomina, Okun, for Yoruba; etc. So the case of Isoko claiming to be different from Urhobo is NOT UNIQUE! They can claim all they want! Nobody can take that away from them but we know better! Isoko is as culturally Urhoboic as Okpe, Uvwie, Eruwa, Udu, etc are! Just because of senatorial arrangements, they believe they'd fare better being distinct than being associated with Urhobo. This, however, has not favoured them as Isokos are calamitously marginalised in Delta South.

Do not spear head divisions where none exists! Just leave your argument at the point that Isoko is ethnically different from Urhobo and I'll skeptically look away! But to argue that they are culturally and linguistically different is something I'd argue even in Heaven and Hell.!
Plz stop sYing trash isoko cannot nd has never bin a branch of urhobo just linguistic neighbours.isoko is the name of a people, their land, their language nd their culture nd stop trying to seprate erowha from isoko.if I were u I would stop bodering myself about isoko nd start worrying bout uvwie nd the okpes who in a few years time would become a fully independent nd autonomous as dey rightly should be

Hi peeps.. I haven't create any new thread recently due to some reasons best known To me, Although I still Remain your loyal boy "Goodboiyy" . Below are some Igbo and Yoruba word used in Urhobo language.

1. Biko : Biko is an Igbo word for "Please" And it means same in Urhobo, in Urhobo you usually hear word like "Oghene' biko keme' Igho" Meaning "God please Give me money".

2. Olori : Olori is a Yoruba Word for Head .. in Urhobo it means the same thing..

3. Orgor' : Orgor' is an Igbo word for 'Inlaw'. It means the same thing in Urhobo.. for example I might say "Oniovo Orgor we' nkor " meaning 'brother how is Your Inlaw ".

4. Omo' : Omo'r is a Yoruba word for Child, It has same meaning in Urhobo.. I can make statement like " e' Freemanan Omo'r meh' … meaning "Freemanan is my Son" grin

5. Obara' : Obara is an Igbo word for blood.. It means Same In Urhobo.. Why The Igbo woman will shout "Obara Jesus" and Urhobo Woman will say "Oba'rah' Re' Jesu"

6. Jesu' : Jesu' is an Yoruba word for Jesus . its still the same in Urhobo

7. Ew'a : Ew'a is another Yoruba word for Beans and its thesame with Urhobo. Ew'a is pronounced in Urhobo exactly thesame with That of Yoruba

8. OBA : OBA is a Yoruba word for king , We still use it in Urhobo.. If we Want to Call God.. we say Oba' risi' meaning " King Of The Word"

9. Akpere : Is a Yoruba word for basket, it means the same Thing in Urhobo

Pls don't derail the thread. THANKS
In the isoko language

1) please ~ iviole/ore

2) head. ~ uzo

3) inlaw. ~ orgor

5) blood ~ aze

6) jesus ~ jesus is jesu on almost all "AFRICAN LANGUAgES”

7) beans ~ Eza

Big shame on the Niger Delta states.....

1. They get monthy state subventions

2. They benefit from the 13% derivation, allocated to oil producing states

3. They have been opportuned with structured institutions OMPADEC, NDDC to ameliorate the deplorable infrastructure, transport and education within oil states

4. The only region with a ministry to service it

The niger deltans are the very undoing to themselves, wacking every opportunity to deveop their region. A big shame

I think isoko should be an Urhobo dialect.
let's not deceive ourselves here
I know u are very vast in stuffs lyk dis buh u got this wan wrong. Isoko is a language of it's own with various dialects. The Isoko language is older Dan the urhobo language with Erowha(in Isoko) being the oldest clan in Isoko and urhobo land. many of the urhobo clans(okpe, evrheni, uvwie,udU,orogun etc) migrated from Isoko land

But beyond dis Isoko and urhobo are wan people with different LANGUGES.
