Nowenuse: For me, I am too enlightened to judge the population of an ethnic group exclusively with the census figures or voters figures of their LGAs. Only people with low intelligence do that. I look at the settlements patters, the migrations, the birthrates and many other factors before I conclude. Urhobos outnumber Aniomas (in Delta state) but the margin is not as wide as many people claim. Outside Delta state it is a different ballgame. There are many Anioma speaking towns in Rivers, Edo and the SE. This was from the Midwest referendum in 1962/3 Anioma here is Aboh + Asaba

Its moribund.
Obuaku was used by King Jaja of Opobo in those days to control oil trade.

Juliusmalema: I am not much interested in the issue of delta state because senator Okowa is a good Governor and not a noise maker. He is a silent achiever...
But that doesn't necessarily mean that Urhobo and Isoko plus Itshekiri are not part of the greater Oduduwa nation. Geographically they are west.
Truth hurts but we must say it. They are all part of Oduduwa because their histories are all inter-linked.
Assuming this about the loud mouths in Rivers state. I would fully represent myself on the thread but for this mere argument, the whole stuff doesn't interest me Oga abeg siddon one corner |

pazienza: What's the meaning of presently?
Did the world start existing presently. How about the fact that Urhobo has no single Governor while Ndiigbo have 5 plus 2 Igboid governors in Okowa and Wike. Okowa is ruling you in your state and you guys are perpetually condemned to gnash your teeth over Asaba capital status until Nigeria stops existing. I mean Asaba is closer to Awka than its to Warri. Before you leave Sapaele to Asaba I have already gone to Asaba from my home town in Ogidi and come back thrice . Your capital city serves Ndiigbo in Anambra more than it serves you, it must be painful for your guys over there.
Anioma has 9 LGA, you have just 7 and have to claim Isoko to measure up to Anioma.
Mind yourselves, Ndiigbo are not your problem. Urhobo have 8 in Delta central which are by far more populated than the ones in Delta North |

Their names r different , their culture is also different Everything you said has an element of Truth but walahi the names are not really different although we have some few unique name like orezi, kome, zino, ewoma etc some families fancy some urhobo names like ochuko instead of othuke(isoko) and Tega(urhobo) instead of fegho(isoko) And our culture is surprising over 90% same I might research further and create a thread on it |

It would have to pass through Ijaw/Itsekiri controlled waters to get to Uhrobo and looking at you guys turbulent relationships in Warri, a lot of negotiations and concessions would have to take place. Liliantalks: lol u are kidding. They all do , I schooled in delsu , we do meetings together , do cultural stuffs together. We identify ourselves as one and that is anioma . Ika , ukawani , ndokwa , aniocha , ishimili all fall under this umbrella. . Anioma is a name for all Igbo speaking deltans, I am a full fleshed , born and brought up deltan. The word Anioma started when the Igbo speaking part of delta wanted to create their own state but it did not pull through . A deltan who speaks igbo that says I am not anioma is plain ignorant. I am yet to meet such a person , anioma isn’t even an ethnic group per say . We hv our different ethnic groups. I love the way you presented your points, cool!! Unlike nwanyiogwashi |

communities like Onogboko ,Iyede-Ame,Igeh, ibrede and others are tenants? oil was recently discovered in onogboko why did you not ask them to leave since they are tenants? tenants will now be included as oil communities ? They are still more Isoko communities there sef While ndokwa villages like asaba ase now has an Isoko majority speaking population and igboid was talking of assimilation |

Nowenuse: Has there been any official figures for Urhobo population before? Apart from those of the colonial era?
Urhobo Indigenes of Warri south are up to half of the LGAs Indigenes, yes. But Warri south (Warri urban proper) itself does not really have much indigenes. The Indigenes are few in numbers. Do u think Agbassa & Okere-Urhobo Indigenes are significant enough to cause a significant change to Urhobo numbers? I don't think so. Urhobos are still majority just as they were in the mid west .cc mystiquefia, nwanyiogwashi

Abi you sabi pass de king?
“We are a Yoruba speaking community and the name of our language is Oloku mi,” she disclosed. Finally the king, H.R.M. Ayo Isinyemeze, the Oloza (Obi) of Ugbodu, met the desire of the writer. The youthful looking, handsome royal father explained. According to the monarch who is also the chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council in Aniocha North, the Ugbodu Oluku mi speaking people migrated from Owo/Akure axis in the current day Ondo State between 9th and 11th Century AD to settle down in Benin during the reign of King Ogiso of Benin. My children all bear Oluku mi names. I think there is renaissance, an effort of going back to our roots.
So, most of the children being born these days are named Oloku mi names.
According to Adebowale: “The real Oluku mi is like the Yoruba that is spoken in Owo in Ondo State. Someone from that place is expected to understand the language perfectly. I am an Oluku mi man and I am proud of my language.
