Btw, is this assertion by Pras a fallout of their long standing beef or what? Just asking. |

EzeUche: Last time I checked, Yorubas are Nigerians. I am directing this to all non-Easterners. It does, matter if you are Yoruba, Hausa, Kanuri etc. However, many people in the East, not only Igbos are still bitter at Yorubas for what they see as cowardice from the Yoruba elite who did not keep their end of the bargain.
Plus, it is common knowledge how Yoruba obas went up to the North to thank the Emirs for not targetting their people in the pogroms. My question was directed at your kinsmen and not you in particular. See quote below, if you're not competent to answer for them simply say so. Dark1: Why is the brunt of your (not you, but majority of your kinsmen) bitterness directed at Yorubas and not Nigerians? |

Politics › Re: Jan ‘66 Coup Planned By Revolutionaries, Says Study by Dark1(m): 1:43pm On Jul 20, 2010 |
EzeUche: A remembrance day for all the Igbos who died in the pogroms in the North and who died following the build up to the Civil War
And finally, an apology from the Nigerian gov't for the crimes that committed against the Eastern populace and not protecting innocent Eastern civilians throughout the country.
Is that so much to ask for? Even Germany apologized to the Jews and they still have remembrance days for the fallen. Why is the brunt of your ( not you, but majority of your kinsmen) bitterness directed at Yorubas and not Nigerians? |

Politics › Re: Pengassan Chieftain Kidnapped In Owerri by Dark1(m): 3:21pm On Jul 18, 2010 |
Beaf: ^See below.
That we consider it a national failure (and there are many). We need to dig deep to find out what the root causes are; Is it connected to 2011? If so, who is involved, police, govs etc? Is it that Igbo's have been traditionally maligned in the country since the war and react quicker to any negative slide in the country? If so, what should be done to promote equity? Is it because government (by extension police) is too far away from the people that things have got this far out of hand? If so, should we not be looking at implementing true federalism and bringing govet (and the police) closer to the people?
There are tons of deeper questions we should be really bothered about, not just applying quick bandages to every problem. Nigeria is rickety, because everything is done from Abuja and we've got it all upside down. As embarrassing as it might seem a quick fix approach would be required to stem the current tide of crimes, while bearing in mind that the root cause of ill-health curently plaguing the nation polity/politics be looked into. |

Beaf: The problem in the East is very different and does not require more than the regular police; except that our police are as failed as the state called Nigeria is. In view of the bolded above, what would you recommend to arrest the rising kidnap cases in the east? |

you think a sitting head of state rounding up former leaders and executing them is a revolution you call that people power
actually, its called a purge - stalin did a lot of that in his time, though iit was of his percieved enemies
we had an administration/junta that tried to do just that idiagbon/buhari
and sadly nigerians were very happy to see them go Call it what you like, its the aftermath that counts. Are Ghanians presently complaining? Note my reference to Ghana, all thats required is an individual (or group of individuals) willing to steer the Nation in the right direction. |
