Frost124: Good day nairalanders, thank God this site is a faceless forum... Few weeks ago my dad told me he is HIV positive, when he told me I was disappointed but I made sure I didn't show it and I encouraged him... Him and my mother has been sick for a while and I certainly know he has transferred it to my mum.... My dad was very promiscuous when he was younger even after he married my mom he was still promiscuous. I am the only child and I have been footing the bills for their medical cares I am just 26 years old and I have spent so much and there is more spending still to come.... My father only told me, my mother is not aware of her health status all she thinks it's just a normal sickness happening to her. I have no one to talk to, I don't trust any friends because I believe when I tell them, they will certainly spread the news and you know the stigmatization against HIV patients, it's not good... I am frustrated, depressed and financially drained, sometimes I stay in my room and cry.... To avoid thinking, sometimes I just drink some alcohol... This issue has been in my heart for several weeks I just had to put it on Nairaland to ease my pain. My father just called me today that my mom has been admitted to the hospital, she was too weak to even walk.... Another spending and I am running out of cash, don't know what to do anymore. It wouldn't be this severe if they found out earlier, it's almost late. May God help me and my parents.
Sorry this is happening to your parents.
If your Mum is in a private hospital, after she gets better and is discharged, take her straight to a government hospital or even a primary health centre where she will be commenced on AntiRetrovirals. They are completely free and you may only need to pay few thousands for some initial laboratory tests.
The private hospital may offer your Mum the drugs, but know they will charge you for the drugs which you can get absolutely free at government clinics. The drugs are currently taken everyday, for life
As for your Dad, he needs to start the medications immediately, if he has not started. Apart from your Mum, he may also pose a risk to other females he is gallivanting with.
23Ju: The minimum wage increase only affects your basic salary. Note: basic salary is just a fraction of your tatal salary. You can get the basic salary from your pay slip. If the basic salary is 48,000, old mw is 30,000, new mw is 70,000. % increase=((70000-30000)/30000)×100 =133.33% 133.33% of 48,000 = (133.33/100)×48000=63,840 63,840 is now your new basic salary. So, your new salary will be 63,840 + sum of other components of you former salary. This was also the template i used when it was moved from 18k to 30k and i received exactly what i got from my calculation.
I like this explanation.
Did you get the full percentage increase, irrespective of your Grade Level?
NeckingNgulping: No, it doesn't work that way. The minimum wage is the lowest amount projected for the government and the private sector to pay an employee. If you're earning 300k, you're far above the minimum wage in Nigeria. The increment will not affect you.
If he's earning 300k and the new minimum wage becomes 300k, is he going to earn same amount with the company gateman, for instance?
The Jehovah Witness part may have confused the hospital ab initio. Even at a weight of 3.5kg, the Caesarean section option should have been actively discussed long ago. That's already a big baby.
I'm of the opinion that private hospitals should charge well, so they can provide every service needed. The public expects a lot from our hospitals, and rightly so. I think that hospital needs more staff and a few more equipment.
Finally, it is completely normal for private hospitals to make use of medical officers to assist surgeries. Even as a House Officer, I assisted a Caesarean section with my Consultant in a Teaching Hospital. The only problem here is that the woman was already bad.
Finally finally, I advise doctors, if you have some knotty cases like this, do well to refer early to a Teaching Hospital to avoid unwarranted complications.
2. Subsidised homes. Like the ones built by shagari in the 80’s . Little one two & 3 bedroom houses. They would pay N5000.00 per month
3. Build large cooperative stores that would sell groceries at rock bottom price. That means government would buy fruit and vegetables from farmers and subsidies them. Including meat rice& fish.
It can be done. There would be know reasons to increase wages which would eventually lead to a runaway inflation. The 650,000 labour is asking for would lead to runaway inflation just like in Zimbabwe.
Even school fees is more than 30k.
You can't avoid increasing salaries. The above benefits can still be done. After all, we pay taxes here.
Without an increase in salary, people are just living from hand to mouth
Chigozie321: I support Fubara 100% in this fight but let us be honest, that guy has not been impressive since he became a governor.
Detractors no longer have access to the state Treasury so I expect projects to be buzzing left, right and center. But NO, no significant development till date.
Lets hope he starts delivering when this fight is over.
Maybe he started paying again after BAT interrvened
Wike's loyalists led by the State APC CTC Chairman, Tony Okocha; Minority leader of the House of Reps, Kingsley Chinda; other members of the Reps Caucus, LGA Chairmen and others storm Rivers Assembly Quarters in solidarity to the Amaewhule-led Rivers Assembly.
Fubara wan comot daily bread from their mouths. Lol
NB* : This thread isn't created for banter or insults, but just to register my disagreement to the other thread.
For those who are busy and multitasking on a job, VN is actually a very important means to send a message across without having to edit, delete and do all that, when you can just open a voice record and say what you need to say and send.
And then if I need to communicate my feeling to the receiver at the other end, VN is the best tool. Not to mention those who might have lost a limb, how do you expect them to type a lengthy message?.
I so much believe that VN on any platform is a very good invention.
Nice response. The other thread was almost blaming people for choosing to use voice note
If you're not comfortable with VN, just tell the person. That does not mean many people don't find it useful, myself inclusive
flyinnizam: The fact that the naira exchange rate being in the news always unlike few years ago says a lot about this administration. I am sure some people knows the direction I am going to.
It's because APC and her supporters want to prove that Tinubu is working, while every other person wants to prove that Nigeria is getting worse.
A simple way to do that is to look at the exchange rate
