The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase has said that the number of people said to have been killed during the recent clash between the Agatu people of Benue State and their Fulani counterparts was over exaggerated.
It was reported recently that over 300 people, including children and pregnant women were killed by the Fulani herdsmen and 7,000 others were said to have been displaced.
The Fulani herdsmen claimed the battle was said to have started after 10,000 heads of cattle belonging to the Fulanis were reportedly killed.
Addressing Stakeholders during a visit to Minna, the Niger state capital, the Mr. Arase said “I was around, I travelled to Makurdi, I did not see where 300 people were buried.”
“If you kill, you don’t just bury; you must take the corpse to the Police station before you bury, we don’t have that number of people”. He however did not give the official casualty figure.
Arase said the Police High command had completed arrangements to check the incidence of cattle rustling around the country, adding that the Police would next week start what he called
‘Metro patrol’ designed to arrest cattle rustlers.

I thought I should drop some tips that may help minimize possible scams/fraud on our ATM cards:

1: Keep your ATM Cards always in your possession: The first thing that could criminals access to your card, is if they have possession of it. Never lose sight of your card. If your card is not where you are used to keeping it, alarm bells should begin to ring. If you are in doubt, see number 7 below.

2: Use your Card at a credible POS: Avoid using your ATM cards at filling stations, Some hotels, Cafes. Basically, places where the POS could be compromised. I was in Abuja the other day. I did a transaction and the guy asked me to pay with a POS. As my bank was not far away, I told him to wait. I took a cab to my nearest bank. Withdrew the money and brought it to him. The guy laughed and told me na wa o. Morale of the story is that, do not expose your card to transactions that could lead to fraud/Scam

3: MasterCard Secure/Verified by Visa: If you transact frequently online, possibility of your card details getting into the wrong hands is high. There are measures designed to minimize fraudulent transactions online. Please go to your bank and register. If you have A master card enroll in the MasterCard secure code. If you use Visa, enroll in Verified by Visa. No one would be able to carry out online transactions unless they can bypass these security measures.

4: Use ATMS inside bank premises: It has been shown that, criminals have the ability to change the keyboard and the ATM card slots on ATM machines. The goal is to skim any card data that is used in those machines. To avoid possibilities of your card

5: Password Protection: Most cards are password protected anyway. But this is not enough. A thief could simply use some techniques like cameras, giraffe spying to see your password. Always make sure that when keying in password, ensure that you shield the keys as much as possible. Someone could be spying. Even the person on the counter could try to spy.

6: Never Give your Card to Anyone to Swipe/ Let your Card out of your In a Public Place: If you pay by POS in Restaurant, Hotel, etc, always pay attention to what is going on. If the person collects your card and attempts to swipe himself, I will advice you not to give. Even so, when they take the card and vanish out of sight. Your card details could be skimmed.

If you suspect your card has been compromised, Take the following steps to minimize risks:

7: Immediately Report fictitious/suspicious debits on your card: Do not wait to confirm whether it is a bank error. Your ability to recover your money depends on how quickly you submit a report

8: Block your Card Immediately: If you see any suspicious/unknown transactions, the first reaction would be to have your card blocked immediately. There is no reason to wait for your bank to confirm whether it is real or network error. The more you wait, the more the possibilities of losing your money. See one of the posts referenced above.

9: Check your Bank Statement: If you have access to online banking facilities, immediately log in to check and cross check your debit alerts. This could help throw some light on the situation

10: Make a Police Report: Proceed to make a police report. Explain clearly what happened. Provide a much details as possible to enable the police undertake investigation

11: Be Always Vigilant: You are your own bank with your ATM cards. Don't be Complacent!

12: Please Add yours: Share and pass on the message. Could help someone in this dry season.

PS: If you buy online, make sure the website is encrypted with the little padlock. It is another security measure aimed at securing data.

With all ds state-of-the-art innovations by scammers if only they can channel this energy into something productive,naija would have become a better place...but I've realized some people are simply incapable of doing good...their brain only performs well in doing evil...they can only excel when doing bad....

I chose pay on delivery initially but the about half of the clothes they brought had to be returned cos they all looked funny...i decided to have them credit my gift or coupon voucher to select other items and I've been waiting for the shirt since then...more than 2weeks now...i just even got a text from them now after i pasted this here and their face book page telling me the shirt was even lost and they're just reordering another via a different courier...imagine...and here i was busy waiting for the shirt....so if i didn't decide to take this action they'll just cover it up...

I bought a shirt worth 5k plus via Konga and for almost 2weeks now the shirt is even yet to leave their shop they're busy telling me it's one Mr Bala that will ship it and the Mr Bala is also telling me Konga are yet to pay him the money thereby tossing me about like a fool... Several times the Mr Bala's no is put at unreachable and when i called him now he had even forgotten about my case thinking i had cancelled my order and reordered when no one told me to do so...Most times when i call the customer care it seems my no had been marked as its always telling me all their agents are currently busy until my credit gets exhausted... It even got to a point where one of the customer care's no was saying switched off after i tried it initially and it went through...imagine! I had to try another route by pretending to want to sell my goods on Konga and pronto an agent answered me this time only for her to cut me off as i started hearing "all our agents are currently busy" again.... The goods I've bought from Konga is worth almost 200k and they still disturb me with ridiculous emails asking me for some stupid help surveys i have no business with even though they are yet to send me the polo shirt i requested for... I know 5k plus shirt is a small money but for me to be treated this way i will make sure you guys pay for this... For a customer care to hang up on me shows you guy's high level of irresponsibility and rudeness. Of course you should know that this will be d last time i ever do business with you guys cos you're not only irresponsible but also incompetent. I had to return the previous clothes worth 30k plus i bought from you guys cos they looked good on internet but outright ridiculous and of inferior quality in reality. I regret ever buying clothes from Konga... Even a woman at the receiving centre advised me against next time as she herself had one issue with the washing machine she ordered and she was having a heated argument with the dispatch guy.

I really regret ever getting hoodwinked into buying your disgusting and inferior as i had already saved up to buy from harvieandhudson.com but was tempted with the "buynaijatogrownaira" slogan...of course now i know better....

It's better you guys add up that 5k plus to your legal fees because I've called up my Lawyers to serve you guys a public notice on negligence and fraud..

Due to a long queue in one of the filling station in Lagos this evening, I decided to buy fuel in my 20 litre galon. When it was my turn, I told the attendant to sell fuel of N2000 to me and she said that out of the N2000 that she will sell fuel of N1800 to me. I objected and told her that N200 is much that she should take N100, which she accepted and supposedly dispensed fuel of N1900 into the gallon.

The point here is that the fuel is a little bit above half of the gallon. Fuel of N1900 is supposed to be 21 litres plus. But it wasn't close to that.

Which way Nigeria?
Could this be part of the change?
