PoliticsNigeria’s Health Leaders Push For A Fairer, Unified Healthcare Future by Daudupress(op): 9:38pm On Oct 17, 2025
Maryam Aminu

There’s a new wave of energy sweeping through Nigeria’s health sector and this time, it’s about collaboration, not competition.

At the just-concluded 2025 Health Equity Conference in Abuja, leaders from across the health ecosystem came together with one mission: to ensure that every Nigerian, regardless of background or location, has access to quality and affordable healthcare.

The conference, themed “From Access to Impact: Advancing the National Agenda for Equitable Healthcare,” brought together policymakers, regulators, and private sector players who all agreed that working in silos has slowed down real progress.

One of the loudest voices at the event was Dr. Yemi Ajao, CEO of OneBarrow International Ltd, who spoke passionately about the need for stronger partnerships across the healthcare value chain.

“Care delivery in Nigeria remains uneven. Many people in rural communities lack access to essential services, while even in urban areas, some cannot afford the care they deserve,” he said, adding that a lack of regulation has allowed substandard providers to thrive.

He called for a renewed sense of accountability and urged Nigerians to question the quality of healthcare services around them. “You see a pharmacy, a clinic, or a lab how do you know they are licensed to offer those services? Many Nigerians are at the mercy of an unregulated system,” Ajao warned.

One of the key outcomes of the conference was a joint communiqué signed by the 13 Health Regulatory Councils of Nigeria, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and private sector stakeholders. The communiqué reaffirmed a joint commitment to improving professional standards, boosting access to diagnostics, integrating digital health tools, and prioritizing preventive care and environmental health.

Speaking also, Dr. Donald Ofili, Acting Registrar of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, said “Equity in healthcare is not a slogan it’s a shared responsibility. We must speak with one voice to achieve it.”

The organisers disclosed that Preparations were already underway for the 2026 Health Equity Co-Design Conference, which will focus on shared innovation, data-driven accountability, and collective monitoring of progress.

“This movement is about people, we want Nigerians to understand the risks, limitations, and resources required to ensure safe and accessible healthcare.”

Unmasking the Vicious Political Sabotage: Governor Peter Mbah’s Desperat Assault on Minister Uche Nnaji Through Orchestrated ‘Certificate Scandal’ by UnityTimes
Magazine

In a reprehensible act of political thuggery and unbridled hypocrisy, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State—clinging to his PDP ticket while secretly plotting a defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for a 2027 reelection bid—has unleashed a manufactured certificate forgery scandal against the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji.

According to UnityTimes Television and Online Magazine, this orchestrated witch-hunt, funneled through his loyal stooge, the newly installed Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Professor Simon U. Ortuanya, is a blatant attempt to eliminate a formidable rival and clear Mbah’s path to the APC governorship ticket. It is a disgraceful abuse of power that demands outright condemnation and swift intervention.

UnityTimes further stated that Mbah’s audacity knows no bounds. “This is the same governor who barely survived his own certificate forgery storm during the 2023 elections, where the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) publicly disavowed his purported discharge certificate, branding it a fake amid cries of electoral fraud.

“Courts may have dubiously cleared him, but the stench of that scandal lingers, exposing Mbah as a master of deceit. Now, he hypocritically turns the tables on Nnaji, a dedicated APC stalwart whose only offense is positioning himself as a strong contender for the Enugu governorship in 2027 under the APC banner.

“Mbah’s impending defection—widely reported as imminent, driven by PDP’s internal collapse and his desire to cozy up to federal power for reelection—faces a massive stumbling block in Nnaji, who has boldly declared APC’s intent to seize Enugu from PDP’s grip.

“By fabricating this forgery narrative, Mbah aims to force Nnaji’s sack, neutralizing a rival and paving his treacherous crossover.

“Enter Professor Simon U. Ortuanya, former Secretary to the Enugu State Government, whose appointment as UNN’s VC in August 2025 was no coincidence but a calculated reward for loyalty.

“Ortuanya, in his inaugural speech, shamelessly praised Mbah’s “doggedness,” revealing the strings attached to his position. Under his watch, UNN has conveniently “discovered” discrepancies in Nnaji’s 1985 degree records, claiming no evidence of graduation or certificate issuance—despite Nnaji’s clear explanation of bureaucratic delays in collection.

“This is not academic diligence; it is sponsored sabotage, transforming a prestigious federal university into a partisan weapon. Ortuanya has sullied his scholarly credentials, prostituting UNN’s integrity for Mbah’s political gains ahead of 2027.

“This scandal is patently manufactured, a desperate ploy to destabilize Nnaji, whose ministerial role is propelling Nigeria’s innovation agenda forward with international partnerships and technological advancements. Mbah’s envy-fueled campaign threatens national progress for petty state-level ambition, all while he schemes to jump ship to APC, exploiting President Tinubu’s administration for personal survival.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, architect of Renewed Hope, must not fall for this charade. Mbah’s antics are a direct assault on your party’s unity and merit-based governance. Investigate this conspiracy immediately, shield Minister Nnaji from these baseless attacks, and reject Mbah’s opportunistic defection. Allowing such manipulation would embolden political vampires and undermine APC’s 2027 prospects.

“To right-thinking Nigerians—journalists, activists, and citizens alike—do not be hoodwinked by Mbah and Ortuanya’s deceitful theater. This is classic Nigerian godfatherism: a failing PDP governor weaponizing state resources and a captured university to crush competition. Demand accountability, expose the hypocrisy, and rally behind truth. Enugu and Nigeria deserve leaders of integrity, not schemers like Mbah who forge scandals to forge their futures. The 2027 elections must be won on merit, not malice—let this shameful plot crumble under the weight of justice.

“This is clearly a disturbing display of abuse of power, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and the newly installed Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), Professor Simon U. Ortuanya, have launched a baseless, politically motivated campaign to malign and discredit the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Uche Nnaji, through spurious allegations of certificate forgery.

“This shameful conspiracy is not only a disgrace to democratic principles and academic integrity, but it also reflects the growing rot in Enugu State’s leadership—a rot that threatens to drag one of Nigeria’s most respected federal universities into the mud of partisan politics.

“At the heart of this malicious campaign is a desperate attempt by Governor Mbah and his political cronies to neutralize perceived threats and opposition voices by weaponizing falsehood and state institutions. That Professor Simon Ortuanya—barely warmed into his seat as Vice Chancellor—has allowed himself and the hallowed institution of UNN to be used as a political attack dog raises serious questions about his character, independence, and suitability for the office he holds.

“Let it be stated clearly: Uche Nnaji is a respected technocrat and politician who has contributed immensely to the development of Enugu State and Nigeria at large. His track record, both in public service and private enterprise, speaks volumes—far louder than the whispers of envy and propaganda echoing from the corridors of Enugu’s Government House.

UnityTimes also stressed in its report that it is an insult to the intelligence of right-thinking Nigerians that Governor Mbah—a man who himself has faced intense public scrutiny over allegations surrounding his own academic records—would now turn around to sponsor a witch-hunt against another son of the state. “The hypocrisy is staggering, the motives are transparent, and the outcome is bound to fail.

“Let us be clear: this is not about truth, justice, or accountability. This is about political vendetta, executed with reckless disregard for truth and decency. It is about silencing credible leaders who refuse to kneel before the godfathers of Enugu politics. It is about consolidating power by any means necessary—even if that means dragging the name of a federal minister through the gutter of manufactured scandal.

“Nigerians must not be fooled. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all defenders of truth and justice must stand firm and reject this poorly scripted drama. The Presidency must not lend even a second of attention to the distraction being cooked up by elements who fear accountability, transparency, and competence in government.

“Furthermore, we call on the governing council of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, the Federal Ministry of Education, and the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) to urgently investigate the conduct of Professor Simon U. Ortuanya. No Vice Chancellor should ever use the sacred office of academia to serve as a foot soldier for political hatchet jobs.

“The University of Nigeria was founded to restore the dignity of man—not to be reduced to a propaganda mill for disgraced politicians and desperate governors. The future of academic credibility and democratic accountability demands that this toxic alliance between Mbah and Ortuanya be publicly condemned and thoroughly investigated.

“We, as citizens, owe it to our democracy to resist the politics of blackmail and character assassination. Let truth prevail. Let integrity rise above impunity. And let those who think they can manipulate public perception with falsehood be reminded: the Nigerian people are watching, and history never forgets.”

PoliticsGAPU Slams Attack On Women Affairs Minister Imaan Sulaiman-ibrahim by Daudupress(op): 12:18am On Sep 14, 2025
Maryam Aminu

The Global Alliance for Peace and Unity (GAPU) has condemned in strong terms the recent protest by staff of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, describing it as misplaced and harmful to institutional integrity.

The protest, staged by ministry workers, reignited debates about accountability in Nigeria’s public service.

The workers accused the ministry of neglecting their welfare, citing unpaid allowances, lack of work tools, and delays in promotions. Fingers were quickly pointed at the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Dr. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, but GAPU stressed the need to separate perception from procedure.

GAPU’s leader, Solomon Pevkyaa, explained that within ministries, overheads such as duty tour allowances, training, and staff welfare are managed by the Permanent Secretary and finance/admin units, who serve as Accounting Officers. The Minister, he clarified, provides policy direction and leadership but does not disburse funds to staff.

“This distinction matters. While workers have every right to protest, misdirecting anger at a minister rather than addressing the civil service management chain risks distracting from the real issues,” Pevkyaa said.

He called for constructive dialogue between staff unions, the Permanent Secretary, and oversight bodies as the proper path to resolving grievances.

While acknowledging the workers’ right to demand better welfare, Pevkyaa faulted the manner in which the protest was carried out, saying civil servants crossed the line when they allegedly harassed the Minister in her office.

“For the sake of peace and unity, people should know when they are crossing the red line,” he warned.

He urged the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to intervene urgently, investigate the matter, and curb what he described as “excesses” within the ministry’s workforce.

According to GAPU, there are always better and more constructive ways to present grievances than staging what it termed an “attack” on a sitting minister.

Beyond the controversy, Pevkyaa pointed out that Dr. Sulaiman-Ibrahim has a proven record of reformist leadership. As former Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), she championed landmark initiatives such as Project Educate All, Project Skill Up, Project Total Health, and Project Zero Hunger, which shifted the Commission’s focus from temporary humanitarian relief to sustainable empowerment. She also pushed through the NCFRMI Act 2022, which strengthened Nigeria’s policy framework for displaced persons and elevated humanitarian response to national development discourse.

Now serving under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, she has carried the same reformist zeal into the Ministry of Women Affairs, driving transformative programmes that promote economic empowerment for women entrepreneurs, structured skills training for girls, and expanded advocacy against gender-based violence. These initiatives, GAPU noted, are reshaping opportunities for women and reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to gender equity and inclusive development.

PoliticsGAPU Hails Women Affairs Minister’s Response, Describes Her As A Listening Mothe by Daudupress(op): 12:09am On Sep 14, 2025
The Global Alliance for Peace and Unity (GAPU) has expressed strong support for the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, following her conciliatory response to grievances raised by staff of the ministry.

In a town hall meeting convened after last week’s demonstration, Sulaiman-Ibrahim assured workers of improved welfare packages, the provision of adequate working tools, prompt reimbursements, and enhanced training opportunities.

She emphasized that she was not angered by the protest, describing herself instead as a “listening mother” who has extended forgiveness to staff and remains committed to their wellbeing.

GAPU, in a statement issued on Saturday by the National President Honourable Solomon Pevkyaa, commended the Minister’s calm and motherly disposition in handling the situation, noting that her assurances have restored confidence among workers and stakeholders.

Pevkyaa added that the Minister's pledge of “better days ahead” reflects genuine commitment to the growth of the ministry and the empowerment of women across Nigeria.

Pevkyaa also urged ministry staff to embrace dialogue, unity, and patience, stressing that the Minister has demonstrated openness and readiness to address their concerns.

“With her assurances on welfare, tools, and training, we believe the Honourable Minister has once again shown that she is a leader who listens, forgives, and builds bridges of understanding,” GAPU stated.

PoliticsAliyu Abubakar Urges Africans On Connectivity In Solving Common Problems by Daudupress(op): 1:50pm On Aug 07, 2025
In a powerful convergence of purpose and possibility, health leaders, innovators, and grassroots changemakers gathered in Lagos from July 25 to 31, 2025, for the World Sustainable Development Goals Organization (WorldSDGsO) Conference a week-long event that reimagined how African communities can tackle maternal and child health challenges with homegrown solutions.

The conference opened with a symbolic WorldSDGsO Walk and closed with renewed commitment toward Africa's health equity and sustainable development agenda.

In his keynote address, Aliyu Garba Abubakar, Director of the Climate Action Agency West Africa for WorldSDGsO, outlined a bold, community-led blueprint to tackle Nigeria’s maternal and child health crises. His address, titled “Connecting Every Community to Life-Saving Solutions,” laid the groundwork for what could become a continental movement rooted in connectivity, local innovation, and peer-based learning.

Speaking passionately, Abubakar urged African nations to stop overlooking local heroes who are already saving lives in their communities.

He emphasized that the starting point should be recognizing and learning from grassroots actors people like traditional birth attendants who have delivered hundreds of babies without maternal deaths, grandmothers with indigenous treatments for malnourished children, or women’s groups that ensure pregnant women give birth in health facilities.

Abubakar said that instead of seeking complex external solutions, the continent must take a deliberate approach to identify these individuals and understand their methods not just to reward them, but to replicate their success.

He stressed that effective community practices should form the foundation of any health strategy, with those on the ground serving as the teachers.

The keynote speaker proposed that successful local problem-solvers should be systematically connected with others across Nigeria who face similar health challenges.

He explained that if a community in Kano has reduced malaria among pregnant women, then that knowledge must reach communities in Ogun or Benue still battling similar issues. Likewise, if a village in Cross River has achieved full immunization coverage, their methods should be shared across every geopolitical zone.

Abubakar pointed out that this kind of exchange doesn’t require large infrastructure only intentionality and the use of accessible technology. Mobile phones and messaging platforms, he argued, should serve as bridges between life-saving ideas and the people who desperately need them. “Information that can save lives should reach people in days, not years,” he said.

Rejecting the outdated model of “experts” teaching communities, Abubakar advocated for a more effective and respectful approach: communities learning from one another. He shared stories of villages that had solved emergency transport challenges, women’s groups that had successfully stopped mother-to-child transmission of HIV, and traditional rulers who had convinced entire populations to accept vaccination. These stories, he said, should be passed from one community to another, creating a ripple effect of solutions across the country.

He stressed that although local solutions are powerful, they need broader support to thrive and scale. In his words, global and institutional partners must not dominate these efforts but rather serve as enablers offering resources, technical backing, and funding to help expand effective local approaches. Abubakar noted that when a traditional practice proves successful, experts should help explain why it works and how it can be adapted elsewhere.

He proposed launching a national network beginning with 100 communities, where each would contribute two key elements: a proven innovation that is already saving lives, and a pressing challenge that still needs a solution. He envisioned a model where communities become both teachers and learners, connected by a national commitment to save lives.

Abubakar also called for a shift in how success is measured. Instead of focusing on targets or paperwork, he said outcomes must be judged by real-world impact like whether a mother in Sokoto survives childbirth, whether a child in Enugu gets vaccinated on time, or whether a pregnant woman in Osun receives the nutrition she needs. These, he insisted, should be the metrics that matter most.

The climax of his address was the unveiling of the ‘10,000 Lives Mission’, a bold initiative aimed at saving 10,000 Nigerian mothers and children by December 2026.

He encouraged every delegate in the room to leave not just informed but transformed and ready to act.

To jumpstart the mission, he challenged participants to take immediate action within 30 days. He urged them to document one local solution from their communities, identify the most pressing maternal or child health challenge they face, and connect with at least three other communities to exchange knowledge and offer support.

He stressed that these actions could be as simple as recording a short voice note or video in a local language and sending it to COPESA’s WhatsApp platform, which would translate and disseminate the messages across the country.

Abubakar envisioned that by January 2026, each participating community should be able to show clear evidence of impact whether it’s a practice they’ve adopted from another community or one they’ve shared that’s saving lives elsewhere. More importantly, he emphasized that the network’s credibility would lie in its transparency. Quarterly progress reports would be published, and both successes and shortcomings would be shared openly.

He made it personal, stating that by the end of 2026, he wanted to know the names and see the faces of mothers and children whose lives were saved because of the connections made through this network. He declared that this was not a call for bureaucratic, donor-heavy projects, but a real-time, people-powered movement.

In closing, Abubakar invited all stakeholders to commit not just organizationally, but personally. He asked each participant to write down a specific name or identify someone whose life they intended to impact within the year a pregnant woman, a vulnerable child, or a struggling family. This, he said, would be the true legacy of the conference.

He concluded with a powerful call to action: “The Nigeria we are building together proves that local solutions, powered by local networks, can do what even the best-funded global programs cannot. We’re not waiting for help. We are the help. The 10,000 lives we save in Nigeria are just the beginning. This starts with us. This starts now.”

PoliticsGive Dr. Raymond Edoh Appointment- Group Urges Tinubu by Daudupress(op): 7:30am On May 21, 2025
A highly reputable national Civil Society group, National Civil Society forum of Professionals, NCSFP, has drown the attention of the federal government on the need to inculcate a worthy son of the president of the federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR into any leadership position in this administration.

The call, which was made on Friday during a press conference held in Abuja, stressed on the personality of Dr. Raymond Edoh and his role in the 2023 presidential election.

According to the President of the organization, Alh. Danjuma Harouna, while addressing the press, described Dr. Raymond Edoh is a loyal and worthy political son of President Bola Tinubu, who contributed immensely to the victory of his father as the president of the federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.
"One of these days, during our visit to Dr. Raymond Edoh, while listening to him, I and the delegation of the organization that went for the courtesy visit realized that he is not different from president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in his optimism about Nigeria, his leadership charisma, passion to lead, wealth of knowledge and experience, and the most of them are his tactical brilliance in ideas on how insecurity can be curbed, poverty can be inhibted, and development can be achieved stresslessly including the windows to the fundings of the projects and programs.

"We further noticed how highly coordinated and determined he is about this nation in line with this administration's agenda and despite he hasn't been considered with any appointment, he assured us of Tinubu's return in 2027 as according to him, he will throw his full political weight behind his father. No doubt, he is an influential young leader who has served and still serves in several capacities across political forums, youth movements and organizations, and international organisations.

"Dr. Raymond Edoh has continued to be a crusader of hope for greater Nigeria and Africa at large. He believes in empowering people and encouraging the younger ones to grow and become useful to their sundry societies through capacity building programs, empowerment of all kinds, financial donations in millions of Naira, mental sensitization, lectures on basic moral orientation, national patrotism and security, to mention but a few.

"He also went further by telling us that he will continue to support his father, Bola Ahmed Tinubu come what may because he believes in him.

"However, he had earlier disclosed to us during his welcome address that he hopes to serve in this administration if given the opportunity, and what he plans to achieve for Nigerians is mind-blowing."

Also speaking, the vice president, Hajia Juwairat Aliyu, also stressed that Dr. Raymond Edoh is a disciplined young Nigeria full of humility and popularly known for his diligence to duty and integrity. "One of the best things that this administration would do amongst many others is to give Dr. Raymond Edoh an appointment in this administration. His prowess and doggedness is amazing, and I think President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR should see him worthy of an appointment to help in the achievement of New Hope Agenda, "she said

Speaking further, Aliyu lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his resolve in making Nigeria's economy better through the complete payment of the Nigeria IMF loan that has lingered for years.

She, however, charged President Tinubu to focus on the development of youths and find ways to incorporate them into leadership positions

PoliticsCIPMN President Raises Alarm Over Attempted Hijack, Fraudulent Activities by Daudupress(op): 12:04pm On Apr 15, 2025
In a powerful and emotional address on Monday, Dr. Mrs. Victoria Okoronkwo, President and Founder of the Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN), sounded the alarm over what she described as a “coordinated and sustained attack” on the very soul of the Institute she founded.

Speaking at a press conference held in Abuja, Dr. Okoronkwo detailed a disturbing sequence of events involving impersonation, financial fraud, and the hijack attempt of CIPMN’s identity and digital infrastructure allegedly orchestrated by a former Registrar, Mr. Henry Ifeanyi Mbadiwe, and a group of collaborators.

According to her, the trouble began in 2019 when she appointed Mr. Mbadiwe, then based in the UK, as the pioneer Registrar of CIPMN. What began as a hopeful partnership soon turned into betrayal.

“He began misusing his office, organizing fake trainings, issuing unauthorized certificates, and misleading the public,” Dr. Okoronkwo explained.

A court ruling in December 2020 (SUIT NO: CV/125/19) removed Mr. Mbadiwe from his position, and a formal letter from the Governing Council followed in June 2021. Yet, she said, he continued to unlawfully present himself as Registrar, allegedly conducting parallel operations under CIPMN’s name.

Dr. Okoronkwo named three other individuals Jamilu Isa Yankwashi, Hajara Yusuf, and Chief Emmanuel Olabode Afolayan as co-conspirators in what she described as “a brazen attempt to hijack the Institute.” Particularly alarming was Mr. Yankwashi’s self-declaration as President of CIPMN in June 2023, despite his tenure having ended days earlier.

The situation escalated when the group allegedly tried to hijack the Institute’s website and domain, even intimidating the web hosting company while issuing fake legal documents. “It was a desperate move to delegitimize our operations,” she said.

But the most shocking revelations came with the allegations of financial misconduct.

Dr. Okoronkwo presented evidence of fraudulent financial requests, including one for N1.8 billion and another for N150 million, made by a self-proclaimed “Sole Administrator” of the Institute. She also highlighted an incomplete project worth over N11 million, for which payment had been made but delivery never fulfilled.

Despite a standing court injunction (NO: FHC/ABJ/CS/253/2022) barring the group from parading themselves as CIPMN officials, they have allegedly continued their activities unchecked.

A recent publication in The Punch listing fake members prompted an official rebuttal by the Institute in The Guardian.

“CIPMN is not a political platform. It is a professional body founded on integrity, excellence, and accountability,” Dr. Okoronkwo declared, adding that their Establishment Act (No. 3 of 2018) remains the Institute’s legal foundation.

She vowed to restore the Institute’s integrity, working with law enforcement, the judiciary, and regulatory bodies. Efforts are currently underway to reconnect with legitimate members and relaunch credible certification and development programs.

Dr. Okoronkwo ended with a stern warning: “To the impostors your time is up. The law will take its course, and history will remember your betrayal.”

PoliticsInvestigation, Legal Action Will Be Taken-cipmn Assures Public by Daudupress(op): 2:39am On Apr 05, 2025
The Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) has issued a strong warning against a group of individuals allegedly involved in fraudulent activities that threaten the integrity of the institute.

In a statement released by Dr. Mrs. Victoria Okoronkwo, Founder, Chairman of the Governing Council, and Pioneer President of CIPMN, the institute has called for urgent action to expose and hold accountable those responsible for illegal practices.

According to Dr. Okoronkwo, the former Registrar of CIPMN, Henry Ifeanyi Mbadiwe, alongside his associates Jamilu Isa Yankwashi, Hajara Yusuf, and Chief Emmanuel Olabode Afolayan has been engaged in fraudulent activities including issuing fake certificates, conducting unauthorized training and inductions, and attempting to undermine the institute's credibility.

The controversy dates back to 2019 when Dr. Okoronkwo invited Mbadiwe from the UK to serve as CIPMN’s pioneer Registrar. However, what began as a promising tenure turned into a crisis when Mbadiwe allegedly exploited his position for personal gain. A legal battle ensued, culminating in a judgment from an FCT High Court (SUIT NO: CV/125/19) on December 15, 2020, which led to Mbadiwe’s dismissal. This ruling was enforced by the CIPMN Council through an official letter (Ref No: CIPMN/TOA.HIM.06.21) dated June 18, 2021. Despite this, Mbadiwe reportedly continued operating unlawfully, deceiving the public with counterfeit certifications and training programs.

The alleged fraudulent activities extended beyond the issuance of fake credentials.

Dr. Okoronkwo highlighted a failed attempt by Mbadiwe and his business associate, Bashir Adewale, to seize control of the CIPMN website. A fraudulent letter, referenced CIPMN/ADM/GXC/036/VOL.1/029, was reportedly issued by Mbadiwe, falsely accusing CIPMN of impersonation. Furthermore, the fraudulent use of the domain cipmn.gov.ng has continued, despite CIPMN not being a government agency under the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investments (FMITI).

Additionally, Dr. Okoronkwo revealed that Mbadiwe and his associates attempted to repeal the legitimate CIPMN Establishment Act No. 3 of 2018 (Gazetted No. 15 Vol. 105) and replace it with an alternative bill (H.B. 1476) to legitimize their unlawful operations.

Their financial
misconduct reportedly includes fraudulent funding requests made to the Federal Government under false pretenses, with figures reaching billions of naira.

Another alarming incident occurred on January 8, 2024, when Mbadiwe published a list of presumed project managers in Punch Newspaper, despite his prior dismissal. CIPMN swiftly countered this move with a public response in Benchmark News and The Guardian Newspaper on March 1, 2024.

The CIPMN has also condemned the actions of Jamilu Isa Yankwashi, a sitting Vice President, who allegedly attempted to seize control of the institute through unlawful means. On June 13, 2023, Yankwashi reportedly declared himself President before the expiration of his term on June 15, 2023.

Additionally, he has been accused of registering a parallel organization, the Institute of Project, Program, and Project Portfolio Management, with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), in a bid to usurp CIPMN’s authority.

Dr. Okoronkwo reaffirmed CIPMN’s commitment to exposing fraudulent actors and maintaining the credibility of the institute.

She urged stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and the general public to stand with CIPMN in protecting its integrity and ensuring that those responsible for these fraudulent acts are brought to justice.

As the CIPMN continues its fight against fraud, the institute remains steadfast in upholding its Establishment Act and preserving the ethical standards of project management in Nigeria.

Investigations are ongoing, and further legal actions are expected to follow against those implicated in these fraudulent activities.

PoliticsBetem Kingdom Stands With Democracy: Prince Victor Alobari Rejects by Daudupress(op): 3:29am On Mar 26, 2025
BETEM KINGDOM STANDS WITH DEMOCRACY: PRINCE VICTOR ALOBARI REJECTS SUSPENSION OF GOVERNOR SIMINALAYI FUBARA, CONDEMNS BETRAYAL OF TRUST

[Betem, 20th March 2024]– , Prince Victor Alobari of Betem Kingdom, has strongly condemned the recent suspension of Rivers State Governor, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, describing it as a blatant betrayal of democracy and the will of the people.

In a firm statement issued today, Prince Alobari expressed deep disappointment over the political crisis in Rivers State, particularly the undemocratic removal of an elected governor. He lamented the alarming trend of individuals and institutions abandoning truth and justice in pursuit of power.

*"The suspension of a democratically elected governor is nothing short of a rape on democracy. It is disheartening to see how quickly people shift towards the direction of power rather than standing firm on the principles of truth and justice. Our people have a saying: ‘The eyes that will carry you through the day, you will know in the morning.’ Sadly, the eyes of some of our leaders are already blurring, and the day is still young."*

Prince Alobari made it clear that even if the entire traditional institution in Rivers State decides to support the appointed sole administrator, he will not align himself with such an injustice. He emphasized that true leadership requires courage, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the people’s mandate.

*"As a prince of Betem Kingdom and a voice for our people, I cannot and will not support any action that undermines democracy. Governor Fubara was elected by the people, and any attempt to remove him through unconstitutional means is an insult to the electorate and a dangerous precedent for our democracy."*

The Prince called on traditional rulers, elder statesmen, and political stakeholders in Rivers State to reflect on their actions and realign with the values of justice and democratic governance. SENATOR VICTOR UMEH SITS ON A HOT SEAT AS HIS CONSTITUENTS THREATEN TO RECALL HIM OVER POOR REPRESENTATION

The Senator representing Anambra Central District Chief Vicor Umeh has been threatened by his constituent for recall. They insist that their Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly Abuja, has many questions to answer over alleged lack of transparency and Accountability on constituency project implementation within the district.

The group called Active Citizens, Anambra Central Senatorial District cited poor welfare package for constituents as another reason for planned recall.
The recall threat was contained in a press statement subject: "Fraudulent Activities of Senator Vuctor Umeh, and other representatives of Anambra Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly; lack of transparency and accountability in new/ongoing constituency projects, which a copy was sent to Senator Umeh's Constituency office in Awka and also made available to Journalists, on Friday.

According to the group via the statement, we the constituents of Anambra Central Senatorial District (Active Citizens), are constrained to bring to the attention of the general public the fraudulent activities of Senator Victor Umeh, lack of transparency and accountability of other elected National Assembly Representatives on the Federal Government Constituency Projects allocated to the seven local government areas that constitute the district under the 2024 budget appropriation bill.

"Our investigation/findings reveal that over eighty-three (83) projects with a total appropriation of over eleven billion (N11, 000, 000,000) naira were allocated across the fifty-seven (57) communities in the district.

"As of the time of this press release, our investigation team has successfully identified and visited the locations of some of these projects, however, a significant number remain untraceable with their sites unknown and extremely difficult to locate. This disturbing discovery informed our urgent call for a town hall meeting involving all well-meaning constituents and stakeholders across the communities. The goal of the town hall meeting was to ensure transparency, accountability and constituents’ participation in the implementation/execution of these projects which are said to be facilitated by the elected representatives for the collective benefit of our people. To the disappointment of all attendee constituents, all our elected representatives deceitfully avoided the town
hall meeting held at the Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre Awka on February 28th, 2025".

"Our findings also revealed that several identified projects were either abandoned, uncompleted or implemented with substandard materials. We, and other relevant stakeholders in the district strongly believe that these challenges can be mitigated if citizens in the affected communities are actively involved in every stage of the process from planning/execution to oversight and maintenance.
In spite of all these, Senator Umeh shamefully was counted among the Senators that allegedly collected the sum of Ten Thousand dollars ($100, 000) for ill fated endorsement of an emergency rule in River’s state.

"It is imperative that all hands be on desk to ensure that our commonwealth is judiciously utilized for the development and welfare of our people.

"The group was equally Inaugurated by the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU), in grassroot community involvement on Federal Government Zonal Intervention Projects (ZIP) in Anambra State

PoliticsReasons Abubakar Sadiq-yelwaa Deserves A Second Term In HYPADEC By Dr Emmanuel D by Daudupress(op): 1:19pm On Mar 06, 2025
In recent years, the Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPADEC) has served as a vital institution aimed at improving the lives of communities affected by hydroelectric projects in Nigeria. The commission was established to address the socio-economic impacts of power generation on local populations, but it has continued to face numerous challenges in its efforts to enact meaningful developments.
A turning point for the commission came when it had Alh. Abubakar Sadiq-Yelwaa at its helm of affairs, and this marked a significant turnaround for HYPADEC, particularly when compared to the previous leadership that had struggled with bureaucratic inefficiencies and faced challenges in balancing government directives with the urgent needs of local populations. Another evident challenge was the inconsistent ineffectiveness of the commission over the years. Critics often pointed out a lack of clear direction, inadequate funding, and poor stakeholder engagement as key factors inhibiting its progress. During the previous leadership, many projects were either abandoned or poorly executed, leading to dissatisfaction among the communities it was meant to assist. Reports demonstrating the frustration of local communities highlight this disconnect.

However, the commission, Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission was established by an Act of the National Assembly to address ecological challenges from the operations of Hydroelectric Dams, its Act was passed and signed in 2010 while in 2013, the act was amended to include Benue and Plateau states and replaces 30% revenue derived from the total revenue accruing to the companies or authorities operating in the host communities with 10% revenue derived from concession of the hydro plants and royalties paid to the Federal Government. In 2016, Amendment II of the HYPPADEC Act took place by reducing the percentage from 30% to 10% on the total revenue deductible from revenue generated by any company or authority from the operations of any hydroelectric dam in any member state of the Commission. In 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, constituted a Governing Council for the Commission, which was inaugurated in December 2020.

The Mission of the commission is to harness resources in the most transparent, acceptable and cost-efficient manner towards ameliorating the negative effects of hydroelectric dam operations in HYPPADEC member states, with its vision to bring equitable and sustainable development that will impact positively on HYPPADEC member states and its core responsibility of formulating policies and guidelines for the development of hydroelectric power producing areas and managing ecological menace due to operations of dams and other hydroelectric power activities.

When Alh. Abubakar Sadiq-Yelwaa assumed leadership of HYPADEC. His tenure presented an opportunity for revitalising the commission through strategic vision and inclusive policies. Sadiq-Yelwaa, with a background in community development and extensive experience collaborating with numerous stakeholders, prioritised a more interactive and responsive approach to leadership.

He has immeasurably contributed to the harnessing of resources in the most transparent, acceptable and cost-efficient manner towards ameliorating the negative effects of hydroelectric dam operations in HYPPADEC member states, led the formulation of result oriented policies and guidelines for the development of hydroelectric power producing areas, conceived and executed some of the plans aimed at enhancing the commission’s efficiency in accordance to the ethics of his job, projects and programmes for the development of hydroelectric power producing areas, carried out and still carrying out numerous surveys of hydroelectric power producing areas in order to ascent the measure which are necessary to promote its physical development, prepared and still preparing schemes designed to promote the physical developments of hydroelectric power producing areas and estimate the cost of implementing such schemes, implementing measures approved for the development of hydroelectric power producing areas by the Federal Government, identifies factors inhibiting the development of the hydroelectric power producing areas and assist states in the formulation and implementation of policies to ensure sound and efficient management of the resources of the hydroelectric power producing areas, assess and report on any project being funded or carried out in the hydroelectric power producing areas while tackling ecological problems that arise from overloading of dams in the hydroelectric power producing areas and advise federal government on the prevention and control of floods and environmental hazards as well as executing such other work and perform such other functions which in the opinion of the commission, are required for the development of the hydroelectric power producing areas and their people, and obviously carrying out such other functions as the president directs.

One of the most significant changes under Sadiq-Yelwaa's leadership has been the implementation of policies that align more closely with the needs and concerns of member states. For example, the "One Community, One Project" initiative aims to address distinct challenges faced by each local area, ensuring that developmental efforts are tailored and effective. This initiative contrasts sharply with the previous regime, where projects often lacked community input and cohesion, leading to disjointed and ineffectively managed initiatives.

In testimony to these changes, a recent evaluation of ongoing projects under Sadiq-Yelwaa noted that over 30 new developmental projects have been initiated since he took office. These encompass various sectors, including healthcare, education, capacity building, skills acquisition empowerment and infrastructure, further underscoring a comprehensive strategy to alleviate poverty and improve living standards within affected communities.

Another pivotal area of improvement has been community engagement. Under Sadiq-Yelwaa's leadership, there has been a concerted effort to involve local stakeholders in decision-making processes. This approach not only empowers the communities but also fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility towards the developmental projects being implemented. Previously, many initiatives were dictated by external leaders, resulting in resistance or lack of participation by community members.

For instance, one of the significant achievements reported during Sadiq-Yelwaa's tenure was regular stakeholder meetings, allowing community voices to influence project designs. This shift towards inclusivity represents a substantial step forward from the past, where community concerns were often overlooked in favour of top-down directives.

Sustainability has become a focal point of HYPADEC's operations under Sadiq-Yelwaa. Recognising that hydroelectric projects significantly alter the environment and the livelihood of surrounding communities, the new leadership has integrated environmental considerations into the planning and execution phases of all projects.

One standout project is the reforestation programme initiated in several member states, aimed at restoring degraded areas that were adversely impacted by power generation activities. This is a clear contrast to past practices, where environmental degradation often went unaddressed while pursuing rapid development. Such initiatives not only address ecological concerns but also create job opportunities for local populations, thereby contributing to economic growth.

Despite these significant advancements under Alh. Abubakar Sadiq-Yelwaa, challenges persist. Financial constraints continue to plague HYPADEC, limiting the scope and scale of projects that can be undertaken. Additionally, some areas still experience resistance towards new initiatives, with a lingering mistrust of authorities stemming from previous leadership failures.

However, Sadiq-Yelwaa's proactive approach to communication and transparency has already begun to mitigate such issues. By fostering an environment of trust and building strong relationships with community leaders, the foundation for overcoming these hurdles has been laid.

In comparing the HYPADEC of the past under previous leadership with the present commission under Alh. Abubakar Sadiq-Yelwaa, it is clear that significant strides have been made in policy implementation, community engagement, and sustainable development. The improved focus on local needs has revitalised the commission, bringing hope and tangible benefits to member state populations. As challenges remain, the trajectory under Sadiq-Yelwaa indicates the potential for ongoing improvements that will further enhance the lives of those impacted by hydroelectric power projects in Nigeria.

CrimeFeatures: The War Lordness Of General Christopher Musa By Emmanuel Daudu by Daudupress(op): 4:17am On Oct 29, 2024
Article sponsored by World Sustainable Development Goals Organization

In recent years, Nigeria has faced severe security challenges, particularly from insurgent groups like Boko Haram and other criminal elements. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has played a pivotal role in the country’s military response to these threats. His strategies are not only focused on combating immediate threats but also on the broader objective of restoring peace and stability in Nigeria.

Since its inception, Boko Haram has wreaked havoc in the northeastern regions of Nigeria, leading to loss of lives and displacement of millions. The group’s insurgency has posed a formidable challenge not only to the Nigerian military but also to the civilian population. According to a report by the United Nations Development Programme, over 30,000 people have died, and millions have been displaced due to the conflict. Such dire circumstances necessitate a robust military strategy to effectively combat the insurgency and restore law and order.

General Christopher Gwabin Musa was appointed as the Chief of Defence Staff in 2023. He has an extensive military background, having served in various positions within the Nigerian Armed Forces. His experience includes operations in several conflict zones and leadership roles that have equipped him with the skillset necessary for addressing complex security challenges. Under his leadership, the military has aimed at not only defeating insurgent groups but also addressing the underlying issues contributing to insecurity.

One of the key strategies implemented by General Musa is the emphasis on improving intelligence gathering and distribution. Effective intelligence is crucial in pre-empting attacks and disrupting insurgent operations. In an article discussing the Nigerian military’s approach under General Musa, it was noted that a more integrated intelligence framework involving collaboration with local communities has been established. This strategy includes the use of technology to gather and analyse data, allowing for a more proactive military response.

Collaboration with local populations is vital, as communities often have the best understanding of the dynamics on the ground. By fostering trust between military operatives and local residents, the military has improved its human intelligence capabilities, leading to successful operations against Boko Haram and other groups. Improved communication channels have also allowed for quicker dissemination of important information to troops, thus enhancing operational effectiveness.

General Musa has advocated for joint operations between various branches of the military as well as collaborations with international partners. The synergy between the Army, Navy, and Air Force has proven effective in conducting comprehensive military operations. This approach can be seen in operations like 'Operation Hadin Kai', which focuses on a unified military response in the Northeast.

Additionally, partnerships with neighbouring countries have been strengthened. The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), which includes troops from Chad, Cameroon, and Niger, has become an essential component of Nigeria’s strategy against Boko Haram. This regional cooperation allows for coordinated efforts to dismantle insurgent networks that operate across borders, significantly enhancing security along Nigeria’s vast and sometimes porous borders.

Recognising that military operations alone cannot solely address the root causes of insurgency, General Musa has prioritised community engagement and civil-military relations. The military has initiated various outreach programmes aimed at rebuilding trust between the armed forces and civilian populations. These initiatives often involve humanitarian assistance, vocational training, and educational programmes aimed at reintegrating former combatants and providing alternative livelihoods for at-risk youth.

By addressing the socio-economic factors that contribute to the recruitment of youths into insurgent groups, the military aims to reduce the likelihood of future conflicts. Effective civil-military relations not only build trust but also encourage local communities to actively participate in efforts to maintain peace and security. Furthermore, reports from community leaders indicate that such initiatives have resulted in a noticeable decline in insurgent recruitment in previously hotbed areas.

Under General Musa's leadership, there has been a strong focus on modernising Nigeria’s military capabilities. This includes the procurement of advanced technologies, equipment, and training for soldiers. The military has sought to enhance its airpower, which is critical in conducting surveillance, reconnaissance, and targeted strikes against insurgent positions.

Investment in military hardware is crucial not only for offensive operations but also for improving the overall readiness of Nigerian forces. Reports indicate a renewed focus on maintaining and upgrading existing equipment, ensuring that troops are well-equipped to defend against asymmetric warfare tactics employed by Boko Haram and other insurgent groups.

General Musa has also played an essential role in advocating for a coherent policy and regulatory framework that guides military operations. This involves compliance with international humanitarian laws, which is critical in ensuring that military actions do not exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in conflict-affected areas. The importance of adhering to these standards has been underscored in various military training sessions.
By fostering a culture of accountability and professionalism within the armed forces, General Musa aims to ensure that the military operates in a manner that respects human rights and maximises the chances of winning the hearts and minds of the civilian population.

General Christopher Gwabin Musa’s military strategies in curbing insecurity, particularly in the fight against Boko Haram, reflect a comprehensive approach that combines intelligence gathering, joint operations, community engagement, modernisation of equipment, and adherence to ethical standards. While challenges remain, the progress made under General Musa's leadership offers a hopeful perspective on Nigeria's security landscape.

In an era marked by complex security challenges, the role of military leadership has never been more critical. General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, has emerged as a figure of remarkable influence and effectiveness in navigating the intricate landscape of national security. His leadership style, marked by a results-oriented approach, strategic vision, and adept management of resources, has set a new standard for military leadership. This argues that General Musa’s leadership exemplifies how an effective Chief of Defence Staff can optimise military operations, enhance national security, and foster public trust in the armed forces.

General Musa's tenure as Chief of Defence Staff has been characterised by a results-oriented mindset. This approach focuses on achieving tangible outcomes rather than merely following protocol or tradition. According to an article from the Nigerian Tribune, Musa has prioritised concrete action over bureaucracy, streamlining operations to ensure that objectives are met efficiently. His clear emphasis on results has not only boosted military effectiveness but has also instilled a sense of accountability within the ranks.

A results-oriented leader evaluates performance based on set metrics, which General Musa has adeptly employed. Under his guidance, the Nigerian Armed Forces have showcased significant improvements in counter-terrorism efforts, particularly against the backdrop of the ongoing insurgency in the northeastern parts of Nigeria. According to a report by the Africa Report, initiatives spearheaded by Musa have led to decreased incidents of violence and increased local community engagement with the military. This effectiveness in delivering results showcases the importance of focused leadership and the inherent capability of a Chief of Defence Staff to facilitate change.

Effective military leadership requires a strategic vision that aligns military operations with national interests. General Musa has demonstrated this through his articulate understanding of the broader geopolitical landscape and the implications of local conflicts. His strategic foresight has enabled the Nigerian military to proactively address security threats, rather than simply reacting to them.

For instance, under Musa’s leadership, the Nigerian Armed Forces have adopted a comprehensive approach to tackling insecurity, integrating intelligence sharing, community policing, and partnership with international allies. As detailed in a report by This Day Live, Musa has effectively coordinated joint military exercises with foreign militaries, fostering collaboration that amplifies operational effectiveness and enhances capability-sharing. This strategic alignment not only strengthens the Nigerian military’s combat readiness but also enhances its diplomatic leverage in international security cooperation.

The ability to articulate and implement a strategic vision is critical in military leadership. General Musa's adept navigation of Nigeria's security challenges demonstrates how a well-defined strategy can lead to substantive improvements in operational outcomes. Moreover, his leadership has cultivated an environment where flexibility and adaptability are valued, allowing military operations to respond swiftly to changing threats.

In the sphere of military leadership, effective resource management is crucial. General Musa has prioritised efficiency and optimisation of military resources, ensuring that personnel and equipment are utilised in the most effective manner possible. The military, often constrained by budgetary limitations and logistical challenges, benefits greatly from leadership that recognises the importance of sustainable resource management.

According to a report from Vanguard Nigeria, Musa has implemented reforms aimed at improving the logistical capabilities of the Nigerian military, pushing for better training programs and modernisation of equipment. These initiatives have resulted in a more agile and responsive military, capable of conducting operations with greater precision and effectiveness.

Furthermore, efficient resource management contributes to troop morale and operational readiness. General Musa has emphasized the importance of welfare and support for soldiers, recognising that well-cared-for personnel are more likely to perform effectively. This is echoed in the Nigerian Army's recent initiatives to improve soldiers’ living conditions and by allocating resources judiciously, General Musa has fostered a culture of commitment and productivity within the ranks.

Military leadership extends beyond the confines of operational strategy and resource management; it encompasses the relationship between the armed forces and the civilian population. General Musa comprehends the importance of transparency and engagement in fostering public trust in the military. His outreach initiatives, focused on community interactions, have played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between civilians and the armed forces.

One notable example of Musa’s efforts is the establishment of community engagement programs, where military personnel participate in activities aimed at promoting peace and security. A report by the Nigerian News Agency highlights Musa’s outreach initiatives that have successfully improved communication between the military and local communities in conflict-affected areas. These efforts not only disseminate information about military operations but also allow local populations to express their concerns and aspirations.

Building public trust in the military is vital for operational success, especially in regions grappling with insurgency and armed conflict. General Musa’s proactive stance in community engagement illustrates how military leadership can become an ally for civilian interests. By proactively addressing the needs of the population and facilitating dialogue, Musa has garnered support for military operations, which is essential for achieving long-term stability and security.

General Christopher Musa's leadership as Chief of Defence Staff exemplifies the effectiveness of a results-oriented approach to military leadership. His strategic vision, resource management skills, and efforts to build public trust have not only transformed the Nigerian Armed Forces but have also highlighted the essential components of effective defence management. In an age where security threats continue to evolve, General Musa's leadership serves as a model for how military leaders can navigate these challenges successfully. By fostering an environment of accountability, collaboration, and community engagement, he has elevated the standards of military leadership, making a significant impact on national security and public perception of the armed forces. As countries around the world grapple with similar challenges, they would do well to draw lessons from General Musa's proven approach to leadership.

General Christopher Gwabin Musa, as a key military leader, has conducted a series of result-filled operations aimed at addressing these challenges. His strategic initiatives have had profound implications for the safety and economic stability of the nation. This argues that General Musa's operations have positively impacted both the Nigerian populace and the economy, fostering a sense of security, promoting investment, and enabling sustainable development.

One of the most significant impacts of General Musa’s operations is the enhancement of security across Nigeria. A secure environment is foundational for the economic well-being of any nation. With the incessant threats from insurgents and criminal gangs, civilians have often lived in a state of fear, hindering their daily activities and contributing to economic stagnation. General Musa's approach, which prioritises intelligence gathering, community engagement, and swift action, has yielded positive results.

According to a report by the Nigerian Army, operations led by General Musa have successfully liberated many communities from the grip of insurgents and bandits, returning stability to previously affected areas. In regions where operations have been conducted, there has been a noticeable reduction in violence, leading to greater confidence among citizens. This newfound safety allows people to engage in agricultural activities, businesses, and schooling, which are crucial for economic development.

In the words of General Musa himself, "The commitment to restoring peace in our communities is unwavering. We will ensure the safety of every Nigerian". This commitment reflects a proactive stance that prioritises the needs of civilians, thus fostering a greater sense of national unity and social responsibility.

The correlation between security and economic activities cannot be overstated. With a secure environment established through the result-oriented operations of General Musa, businesses have begun to thrive once again. Many entrepreneurs who had previously relocated due to insecurity are resettling in their communities, re-establishing their businesses and creating jobs.

A healthy economy requires the unwavering support of various sectors, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are the backbone of the Nigerian economy. Research suggests that SMEs account for over 50% of employment in the country and significantly contribute to GDP (National Bureau of Statistics, 2022). As General Musa's operations restore peace, SMEs are able to flourish, leading to a reduction in unemployment rates and increased local production.

Furthermore, a stable security environment attracts foreign investments. Potential investors often hesitate to put their money into a country riddled with insecurity. However, reports indicate that following the successful operations led by General Musa, there has been a renewed interest from both local and foreign investors in the Nigerian market. Areas such as agriculture, tourism, and technology are beginning to see investments that previously would have been deemed too risky.

The influx of investment not only benefits the businesses themselves but also contributes to the overall economic growth of the country. As companies expand and new businesses emerge, there are increased tax revenues for the government, which can then be reinvested in infrastructure and social services.

Community engagement is a vital aspect of General Musa's operations. Recognising that security concerns often stem from internal grievances within communities, General Musa has prioritised outreach and collaboration with local leaders. This approach fosters trust between the military and civilians, which is essential for maintaining long-term peace.

Engaging with communities allows the military to gather intelligence more effectively and understand the unique challenges faced by various regions. By establishing trust, citizens are more likely to report suspicious activities and collaborate with military personnel to combat crime. This collaborative effort amplifies the impact of security operations.

For instance, in Borno State, numerous community-driven initiatives have seen civilians working alongside military forces to identify threats. Such cooperation not only marginalises the influence of insurgents but also promotes a sense of ownership among the people regarding their security. When communities feel a sense of duty in combating insecurity, they are less likely to resort to violence or to harbour ill feelings against the military.

Another critical area of impact from General Musa's operations is the resilience built within communities against future threats. By prioritising education and vocational training as part of security operations, General Musa promotes a culture of learning and self-reliance. Knowledge and skills can prepare young people for successful careers, diverting them from the cycle of violence and criminality.

Moreover, through community policing initiatives, civilians are equipped with the skills to monitor and report potential threats. This collaborative security framework strengthens the resolve of communities to protect themselves against future insurgencies or criminal activities. Reports by the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution indicate that communities that engage in continuous dialogue with military forces exhibit lower rates of violence and conflict. This resilience is essential for Nigeria as it aims to recover from years of conflict and instability.

The success of these operations underscores the importance of effective leadership and strategy in maintaining peace and stability in Nigeria. As communities transform from fear to empowerment, and as businesses grow and thrive, it is clear that General Musa’s operations have positively shaped the future of Nigeria — both socially and economically. Sustaining these efforts is crucial, not just for immediate security, but for the long-term growth and prosperity of Nigeria.

The member, National Board of Trustees, Dr. Sani Ibrahim (Nr, MNWCN)
has congratulated the newly appointed minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Hon. Nentawe Yilwatda.

The Member, National Board of Trustees, Dr. Sani Ibrahim Yauri made the statement in a congratulatory message he signed today 24th of October, 2024 and made available to newsmen in Abuja following the announcement of his appointment by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

Dr. Sani described him as a great leader with uncommon leadership prowess focused on making Nigeria and its citizens great again

According to him, “In an era where the challenges of poverty and humanitarian crises are more pronounced than ever, the appointment of capable leaders to key positions is crucial for driving positive change. Recently, Nentawe Yilwatda was appointed as Nigeria’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, an announcement that has fostered hope and optimism among many stakeholders invested in sustainable development.

“To understand the enormity of the task ahead, it is important to scrutinise the current state of humanitarian issues and poverty in Nigeria. According to the World Bank, approximately 40% of Nigerians live below the poverty line, which translates to roughly 83 million people struggling to meet their basic needs. The challenges are multi-faceted: from economic instability to health crises and natural disasters, these elements create a perfect storm that devastates the lives of ordinary citizens. The need for effective leadership to navigate these tumultuous waters can not be overstated; it is through decisive action and visionary strategies that a country can hope to alleviate the suffering of its people.

“Nentawe Yilwatda’s appointment is significant not only because of the role itself but also due to his impressive leadership track records”.

Dr. Ibrahim Sani Yauri, a member of the National Board of Trustees of the World Sustainable Development Goals Organization-Nigeria, heralded Yilwatda’s “uncommon leadership prowess” and highlighted his commitment to uplifting Nigeria and its citizens. “Effective leadership encompasses various qualities such as vision, integrity, empathy, and the ability to inspire others, all of which are crucial to addressing the humanitarian challenges facing Nigeria of which all can be evidently be found in the life of Nentawe Yilwatda

“One prominent aspect of Yilwatda’s leadership is his clear vision for humanitarian affairs, which aligns closely with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are a collection of 17 global goals designed to address various social, economic, and environmental issues. Goal 1 aims to end poverty in all its forms everywhere, and Yilwatda’s focus on poverty reduction is not only timely—it is also essential for achieving broader sustainable development. Leadership that is informed by clear objectives and strategies can catalyse significant change.

While wishing him well in his new office, Sani cautioned him to understand that leadership is about more than just setting goals; it involves fostering collaboration among various stakeholders.”In tackling humanitarian issues and poverty, no single entity can succeed in isolation. Effective leadership necessitates building partnerships among government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community-based organisations, and international development agencies. By engaging in meaningful dialogue and constructive partnerships, Yilwatda can better mobilise resources and efforts to address the challenges faced by the most vulnerable populations. This approach not only increases the effectiveness of interventions but also empowers communities to take ownership of their development journey.

“Furthermore, Yilwatda’s leadership must also be rooted in empathy—an essential quality for anyone tasked with working in humanitarian affairs. Empathy enables leaders to genuinely understand the needs and aspirations of the communities they serve, ultimately leading to programmes that are both relevant and effective. As the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Yilwatda has the opportunity to meet with affected communities, listen to their experiences, and create policies that resonate with their realities. This deep connection with grassroots movements is integral for sustainable change, as it fosters trust and collaboration between leaders and the community.

“While Yilwatda’s leadership will undoubtedly be tested by myriad challenges—ranging from inflation and unemployment to security concerns and humanitarian crises—his track record provides grounds for optimism. It is imperative that he prioritises innovation to address these complex issues While traditional methods may have yielded limited results in the past, a fresh perspective can facilitate the emergence of novel solutions to entrenched problems. By adopting a strategic approach to policy-making, Yilwatda can ensure that the interventions implemented are both sustainable and impactful. This might include leveraging technology, social innovation, and data-driven decision-making in the implementation of programmes aimed at alleviating poverty.

“Furthermore, a robust monitoring and evaluation framework is necessary to gauge the effectiveness of humanitarian initiatives and poverty alleviation strategies. Through transparent tracking and reporting, Yilwatda can ensure accountability, which is essential for restoring public trust. Don’t do the mistakes of your predecessor.

“Ultimately, Yilwatda’s appointment is a pivotal moment for Nigeria. It presents an opportunity to galvanise a collective response to the pressing humanitarian challenges facing the country today. However, it is crucial for Yilwatda to not only focus on immediate solutions but also lay the groundwork for long-term sustainability by engaging in systematic planning that aligns with the SDGs. These goals are not just aspirational; they provide a roadmap to a more equitable and sustainable world. In unison with these goals, Nigeria can make significant strides towards reducing poverty and improving the humanitarian situation for its citizens.

“The appointment of Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction carries with it immense potential for transformative change. Effective leadership, characterised by vision, empathy, and innovation, is essential for navigating the complex challenges of poverty and humanitarian crises in Nigeria. As Yilwatda embarks on this critical journey, stakeholders must rally in support of his initiatives and embrace the collaborative spirit necessary for achieving a sustainable future. By outlining clear strategies, prioritising community engagement, and adhering to accountability mechanisms, Yilwatda can usher in a new era of effective humanitarian leadership in Nigeria. The road ahead is daunting, but with strong leadership, Nigeria can aspire to not only alleviate poverty but also build a more prosperous and sustainable nation for generations to come, Sani added.

Similarly, Dr. Sani thanked President Tinubu for finding Yilwatda worthy of the appointment and assured him that Yilwatda would not disappoint Nigerians and his trust bestowed on him

PoliticsWorld Sdgs Organization Lauds Kebbi Governor Over 6.5billion Naira Empowerment by Daudupress(op): 2:16pm On Aug 30, 2024
World Sustainable Development Goals Organization-Nigeria has commended Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State for the distribution of 6.5 billion naira to 65000 beneficiaries aimed at reducing poverty in the state

This initiative has garnered commendation from organisations, notably the World Sustainable Development Goals Organization-Nigeria, which regard it as a significant step towards achieving Goal 1 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): to end poverty in all its forms everywhere.

The country representative made this statement on Friday following the flag-off/ distributions of the fund in the state's capital on Monday.

The organization states that this initiative aligns with goal 1 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aims to end poverty.

The country representative, Engr. Kolawole Rasheed Adenekan expressed his support for the governor's actions pointing out that other governors should emulate him

According to him, "Poverty remains one of the most pressing challenges faced by countries around the world, particularly in developing nations like Nigeria. In a laudable effort to combat this issue, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has initiated the distribution of 6.5 billion naira aimed at supporting the impoverished communities within his jurisdiction.

"Nigeria is beset by debilitating poverty, with the World Bank estimating that over 40% of its population lives below the national poverty line. This stark reality is not merely a statistic; it manifests itself in inadequate access to basic necessities such as food, clean water, healthcare, and education. As such, state governments have a fundamental responsibility to address this crisis. The devastating impacts of poverty can lead to a range of societal issues, including increased crime rates, social unrest, and a diminished quality of life for citizens. Recognising these risks, Governor Nasir Idris is taking a commendable step by working to alleviate poverty through direct financial support. This form of intervention is crucial, as it not only provides immediate relief to those in dire need but also lays the groundwork for long-term economic empowerment.

"Governor Idris's initiative aligns with Goal 1 of the SDGs, which underscores the global commitment to ending poverty. The SDGs were established by the United Nations in 2015 as a blueprint for achieving a better and more sustainable future for all. In Nigeria, efforts to align with these goals are critical, as they represent an international consensus on the necessity of proactive measures to address poverty and inequality."

"The work of the World Sustainable Development Goals Organization-Nigeria, led by the country representative Engr. Kolawole Rasheed Adenekan, emphasises the importance of local action in support of this global agenda.

"By distributing funds directly targeted at the poor, Governor Idris is not merely fulfilling a governmental obligation; he is also aligning with a broader movement towards social justice and sustainability. Early interventions such as these can make an enormous difference, not just in terms of numbers but also in the overall wellbeing of communities. For instance, supporting local agriculture, education, and small businesses can create a virtuous cycle of economic growth, reducing poverty rates and improving the quality of life for numerous individuals.

"While commendation is due for Governor Idris, it is equally crucial that this example is followed by other state governors in Nigeria and other countries faced with similar challenges. A collective effort in poverty alleviation could create a more significant impact than isolated initiatives. There is a growing body of evidence suggesting that social welfare programmes that incorporate direct financial support tend to be more successful in reaching vulnerable populations than those that do not. According to a study published by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), cash transfers can result in improved educational outcomes, health status, and overall economic stability for beneficiaries

"It is not merely a matter of financial aid; these initiatives must be sustained and expanded upon to avoid fostering dependency. The challenge lies in creating programmes that empower beneficiaries to become self-sufficient. As such, it is vital that state governors do not view poverty alleviation merely as a temporary measure but as a longer-term strategic goal that requires ongoing commitment and innovative solutions.

"An investment in poverty alleviation is also an investment in the broader social fabric of a community. When individuals are provided with the financial means to support themselves and their families, it leads to enhanced social cohesion and community development. Families that struggle to make ends meet are often unable to afford contributions towards local economies, which leads to stagnation. Conversely, when people have access to resources, they contribute to community stores, local markets, and other communal enterprises. This form of economic circulation can help invigorate regional economies.

"Furthermore, educational attainment becomes increasingly accessible when families are not burdened by poverty. Education is a crucial determinant of future economic stability and social mobility. With targeted financial support, parents are more likely to send their children to school, which is vital for breaking the cycle of poverty. As illustrated by research from the World Bank, there is a significant correlation between poverty alleviation and educational attainment, suggesting that initiatives such as those introduced by Governor Idris can lead to lasting changes in the socio-economic landscape

"Focusing on economic sustainability is another essential dimension of Governor Nasir Idris's initiative. The distribution of funds provides the immediate relief needed for many families, but it can also be a springboard for long-term economic strategies. By using direct cash transfers to empower individuals, there is a potential for enhanced local entrepreneurship. Small business ownership plays a pivotal role in economic development, particularly in regions plagued by poverty. With financial support, the people of Kebbi State have the opportunity to start their ventures, thus driving innovation and economic growth within their communities.

"Moreover, this strategy is pertinent in promoting Financial Inclusion, which has been cited as one of the critical elements for sustainable development. A report from the Central Bank of Nigeria outlines the importance of inclusive financial systems in reducing poverty and inequality. By ensuring that low-income individuals have access to financial resources and banking, there is a greater chance for socio-economic stability".

Int'l NGO appoints HRH Usman Nga Kupi as member National Traditional/Mayor Council, set to flag off National sanitation project

The World Sustainable Development Goals Organization-Nigeria has appointed the Garki Chief of the Municipal Area Council, FCT, Abuja, HRH (Dr) Usman Nga Kupi, the Sapeyi of Garki as member National Traditional/Mayor Council of the World Sustainable Development Goals Organization-Nigeria.

The appointment letter which was presented to him on Thursday, 15th of August, 2024 at his Palace in Garki by the Country Representative, H.E. Engr. Kolawole Rasheed Adenekan, alongside his delegation, brought hope to the rural dwellers as the tendencies of domesticating projects are high.

While speaking, the country representative, disclosed that there would be a flag off of a national environmental project aimed at goal 11 of the SDGs and there by metamorphosing into goal 3 of the SDGs on Saturday the 17th of August, 2024 in Abuja.

However, in the sphere of sustainable development, the involvement of various stakeholders is both transformative and indispensable. Among these stakeholders, traditional rulers hold a particularly pivotal role, anchored firmly in their communities and often revered as custodians of culture and social norms. The inclusion of such figures in initiatives aimed at global betterment should not only be encouraged but duly recognized. The significance of traditional leaders in accomplishing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on the esteemed appointment of HRH. (Dr) Usman Nga Kupi, the Sapeyi of Garki, as a Member of the National Traditional/Mayor Council of the World Sustainable Development Goals Organization-Nigeria is a welcome development.

The country representative, H.E. Engr. Kolawole Rasheed Adenekan while speaking to the media on the appointed made, said, "traditional leaders, by virtue of their influence and respect within their communities, are uniquely positioned to catalyse progress towards the achievement of SDGs. In Nigeria, as in many parts of Africa and the world at large, such leaders are not just figureheads but play an active role in governance, especially at the local level. They often possess expansive knowledge about the social and economic networks within their communities, making them valuable assets in promoting grassroots development.

"The appointment of HRH. (Dr) Usman Nga Kupi echoes this sentiment and signifies a recognition of the symbiotic relationship between tradition and modernity in the pursuit of development. As a Member of the National Traditional/Mayor Council of the World Sustainable Development Goals Organization-Nigeria, His Royal Highness holds the responsibility of bridging the gap between high-level policy directives and on-the-ground realities.

"HRH. (Dr) Usman Nga Kupi's appointment represents a sincere commitment to involving traditional rulers in the implementation of the SDGs. The World Sustainable Development Goals Organization-Nigeria has taken an admirable step in acknowledging that sustainable development requires adapting global initiatives to suit local contexts, a process in which traditional leaders are indispensable. HRH. (Dr) Usman Nga Kupi, instilled with both the knowledge of contemporary development challenges and the wisdom of traditional governance, embodies an innovative approach to achieving the SDGs at the community level.

"The Sapeyi of Garki, with his extensive experience and deep-rooted connections within the community, is tasked with not only endorsing the SDGs but actively engaging in strategic planning and execution of relevant programmes. His role is to ensure that the targets set by the SDGs seamlessly integrate into local development plans, respecting both the culture and the socioeconomic dynamics of the regions.

Community involvement is crucial to the successful implementation of development projects. Traditional rulers, such as HRH. (Dr) Usman Nga Kupi, can act as catalysts, invoking their influence to rally community support around the goals. They can also play a role in educating the populace about the importance of sustainable practices, thus fostering a supportive environment for the implementation of the SDGs.

"They do this not merely by virtue of their authority but through genuine engagement, understanding the needs of their people, and actively seeking solutions that align with sustainable development principles. As traditional and religious leaders are often the most respected figures in rural areas, their endorsement of projects and initiatives carries significant weight, paving the way for more effective policymaking and project execution

By promoting policies that reflect the ethos of the SDGs, traditional leaders can lead the charge in transforming resource management culture from one that is extractive to one that is conserving and regenerative. Furthermore, by advocating for fair and ethical practices, they can ensure that economic benefits derived from natural resources are equitably distributed among community member", Adenekan added.

Features: The Ghanaian Good Leadership Pilot, Joe Ghartey: Steering Ghana Towards Economic Progress

By Emmanuel Huleji Daudu (Nigerian Journalist)

Leadership is a critical factor in the trajectory of any nation's development. It is the backbone upon which the values, policies, and progress of a country are hinged. In Ghana, a nation cradled within the heart of West Africa, many individuals have risen to the mantle of leadership, contributing to its growth and stability. One notable figure that stands at the forefront of exemplary leadership is Joe Ghartey – a distinguished politician, legal luminary, and former Attorney General of Ghana.

Joe Ghartey's tenure as a public servant and leader echoes with acts of integrity, dedication, and visionary foresight. Ghartey, born on 15th June 1961, has been a prominent figure in Ghana's political sphere, primarily as a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). His foray into politics was propelled by a solid background in law, having served as a Barrister and Solicitor for considerable years before venturing into the political arena.

His ascension to leadership roles in government, notably as the Attorney General and Minister of Justice from 2006 to 2009, demonstrates his competence and dedication to public service . As Attorney General, Ghartey pursued reforms within the legal system and was instrumental in the enactment of several pieces of legislation that strengthened the judiciary and democratic governance in Ghana.

Under his leadership, Ghana experienced remarkable improvements, such as the promulgation of the Whistleblower Act, 2006 (Act 720), which provided a framework for the protection of individuals who report corrupt practices – a testament to Ghartey's commitment to transparency and accountability.

Furthermore, Ghart's role as the Minister for Railways Development from 2017 has been marked by notable strides in reviving Ghana's railway sector, which had been neglected for years. His dedication to this cause is illustrated by projects aimed at expanding and modernising the rail network which is essential for bolstering economic growth and interconnectivity.

Joe Ghartey’s belief in the principles of good governance is evident in his approach to leadership. His emphasis on ethical standards, responsibility, and the rule of law has made him a respected figure among his peers and the citizens of Ghana. Ghartey’s role in ensuring that legal and political institutions uphold justice and provide equitable services to the populace has further highlighted his reputation as a proponent of good governance.

In the political domain, Joe Ghartey has displayed an unwavering commitment to democratic values, often engaging in policy discourses and legislative debates with civility and respect for divergent views. Such a temperament is crucial in a political climate that requires leaders to constructively build consensus and navigate the complexities of governance while being responsive to the needs and aspirations of their constituents.

The socio-economic development of a nation is a collective result of its leadership's policies and initiatives. Joe Ghartey's contributions in this area are marked by the strategic development projects he has supported. For instance, his involvement in enhancing Ghana's transport infrastructure has not only created job opportunities but has also laid the groundwork for long-term economic progress.

Through educational initiatives and support for local entrepreneurship, Ghartey advocates for the empowerment of the youth, recognising their pivotal role in shaping Ghana's future. By promoting policies that drive innovation and skill-building, he aids in equipping the younger generation with the tools necessary to thrive in a globalised economy.

While Joe Ghartey’s leadership has garnered praise, it is not without its challenges and criticisms. Some detractors questioned the pace and scale of the developments in the railway sector, citing delays and budgetary issues. Additionally, as with any political figure, Ghartey has faced scrutiny regarding political decisions and alignment with party positions that may not always resonate with the broader populace.

These challenges are not uncommon in the realm of leadership and arguably serve as a litmus test for a leader’s resilience and capability to adapt to the ever-changing dynamics of governance.

Evaluating the impact of Joe Ghartey’s leadership in Ghana reveals a multifaceted legacy characterised by a strong commitment to public service, ethical governance, and socio-economic progression. Ghartey's efforts in promoting transparent legal practices, spearheading development projects, and championing good governance are indicative of his dedication to Ghana's advancement. While leadership inevitably encompasses confrontation with challenges and criticism, what distinguishes an effective leader is the ability to persevere, innovate, and engender positive change.

Joe Ghartey's journey contributes significantly to the narrative of Ghanaian leadership and presents a benchmark for aspiring leaders. It is through the lens of such trailblazers that the next generation can envision the possibilities of good leadership and its transformative potential for Ghana and, by extension, for Africa as a whole. Thus, the saga of Joe Ghartey's leadership persists as a guiding light, illuminating the path towards a prosperous and just society.

The appointment of a new chairman to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is a significant event, one that holds the promise of invigorating the nation’s revenue mobilisation efforts and putting Ghana on a steadier fiscal path. In recent years, Joe Ghartey has emerged as a prominent figure tipped for such a role. As the Chairman of the Board of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghartey's wealth of experience and notable track record in public service present a unique opportunity for the Authority to achieve remarkable strides in its mandate to collect and administer taxes on behalf of the Government of Ghana.

Ghartey's chairmanship would herald an era of improved tax collection and compliance. With his legal expertise, Ghartey is well-suited to oversee the strengthening of the legal framework within which the GRA operates, ensuring that tax laws are enforced fairly and consistently. Enhancements in tax compliance could result from adopting innovative approaches to tax education, leveraging technology to simplify and automate tax processes, thereby making it easier for taxpayers to fulfil their obligations.

A significant challenge facing the GRA is efficiently taxing Ghana's vast informal sector. Ghartey’s leadership would play a pivotal role in devising strategies tailor-made for this economic segment. By exploring methodologies that have proved successful in similar economies, such as simplified tax regimes and the implementation of presumptive taxes, Ghartey would steer the GRA towards maximising revenue from the informal sector.

Tax evasion and fraud continue to be critical issues impeding the GRA’s efficiency. Ghartey’s track record as Attorney General suggests a firm resolve in adhering to and upholding the law. Under his chairmanship, it is conceivable that the GRA would intensify its efforts to detect and deter tax evasion, by investing in enhanced investigative capacities and adopting robust forensic accounting practices to trace and recover lost revenues.

The global shift towards digital economies posits the digitalization of tax services as an inevitable step. Ghartey’s chairmanship would accelerate this progression by embracing digital solutions that provide transparency, reduce corruption, and increase efficiency in revenue collection. The potential for these systems to disrupt traditional bottlenecks and to allow for real-time tracking of revenues would be transformational for the Authority.

As Chairman, Joe Ghartey would also be poised to address administrative inefficiencies within the GRA. Streamlining operations and improving coordination among various departments would result in significant cost savings and capacity building within the organization. Such administrative reforms might include talent development programs to ensure that GRA personnel are equipped with the modern skills required to manage the complexities of contemporary tax systems.

The potential impact of Joe Ghartey's chairmanship on the Ghana Revenue Authority could be substantial and far-reaching. By leveraging his extensive experience in law and governance, he would spearhead initiatives that would not only improve revenue collection and compliance but also enhance the GRA’s overall efficiency and reputation.
Ghartey’s potential achievements as the Chairman of the Board will be the catalyst that the GRA requires to fulfil its potential as a world-class revenue mobilization authority, thus contributing to the economic stabilization and growth of Ghana.

World Sustainable Development Goals Organization-Nigeria lauds Umar Bago over construction of IBB University Teaching Hospital

World Sustainable Development Goals Organization, Nigeria has commended the Niger State Executive Governor, His Excellency Umar Bago over the construction of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Teaching Hospital in Minna, says it would help in the implementation of goal 3 of the SDGs which is Good Health and Well-Being.

The Country Representative, His Excellency Engr. Kolawole Rasheed Adenekan, while making the commendation during the weekend in Lagos, stated that in the undulating terrains and diverse ethno-cultural landscape of Nigeria, Niger State emerges as a significant presence in the north-central region. Integral to the well-being of its inhabitants,
"Access to quality health care is not just a necessity but a fundamental human right. With the introduction of Sustainable Development Goal 3, which promotes Good Health and Well-Being, Niger State's requirement for a fully functional hospital aligns seamlessly with global aspirations. Governor Umar Bago's dedication towards establishing such infrastructure in the state has been commendable and reflects a staunch commitment to the populace's wellness.

"A hospital serves as a cornerstone of a robust health system. In Niger State, the establishment of a full-fledged hospital is not just a structural development but a beacon of hope for the citizens. The denizens confront a myriad of health challenges, including prevalent cases of malaria, tuberculosis, and a high infant mortality rate. A hospital equipped with adequate facilities, professional staffing, and medical technology is a requisite tool in combating these health adversities.

"Moreover, health education and preventive care are equally significant in circumventing the escalation of disease. A hospital in the locality can serve as a centre for such educational campaigns, potentially reducing the burden of illness and fostering a more health-conscious society.

"The establishment of the IBB University Teaching hospital in Minna, Niger State is a direct contribution to achieving SDG 3. This goal, as part of the United Nations' sustainable development framework, asserts the imperative of ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages. By providing local access to quality health care, the population’s life expectancy will improve, maternal health will be safeguarded, and communicable diseases can be addressed more effectively.

"The target of universal health coverage within SDG 3 underscores the need for Niger State to possess a health care facility that caters to all, regardless of socio-economic status. The absence of a proper hospital would not only impede this target but would also leave a gaping void in achieving the wider SDG framework.

"Governor Bago's foresight in the health care realm has been demonstrated through his administration’s policies, which have prioritised the health of Niger State's residents. This aligns with research highlighting the role of effective governance in achieving health-related SDGs."

While appreciating Governor Bago, he charged him with persistence and resilience for a democratic dividend-driven leadership.

PoliticsGovernance And Its Lasting Impact On The Youth And The State Of Benue: A Glimpse by Daudupress(op): 2:57am On Aug 02, 2024
Governance and Its Lasting Impact on the Youth and the State of Benue: A Glimpse into H.E. Hyacinth Alia's Leadership Era

In the league of Nigerian statesmen, the name H.E. Hyacinth Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State, resonates with the harmonious chords of good governance and visionary leadership. It is often said that effective governance is the cornerstone upon which societies flourish, and Governor Alia's tenure offers a testament to this adage. Governor Alia's stewardship has, and more importantly, will continue to instill within the youth and across the state of Benue. Building on policy analysis, testimonials, and strategic socio-economic indicators, the assertion that H.E. Hyacinth Alia's governance will leave an indelible mark on the state’s development is one that beckons a more profound appreciation.

The policies conceived and implemented by Governor Alia have been particularly impactful for Benue's youth. Educational reforms, robust skill acquisition schemes, and investment in healthcare have not only answered the immediate needs of the state's young people but also laid enduring groundwork for their future.

By bolstering the educational backbone of Benue, Governor Alia sows seeds that will germinate into a crop of enlightened, capable youths who are better prepared to tackle the state's future challenges.

Another facet of the Governor's good governance is his focus on engendering economic prosperity, particularly through youth-centric initiatives. As detailed in a special feature by the Nigerian Tribune, the Alia administration's promotion of entrepreneurship and vocational training offers a poignant example. Young individuals, empowered to start their businesses or pursue meaningful employment, form an essential component of Benue's burgeoning economy.

Beyond education and jobs, the Alia administration also instills a culture of responsibility and civic engagement, critical for a society’s success. By encouraging active participation in the state affairs, the Governor galvanizes a generation that values participation and accountability.

Governor Alia's tenure has not only addressed the tangible aspects of governance but also the intricate social fabric that defines Benue. His government's stance on peace-building and inter-communal harmony is underscored in policies aimed at dissolving cultural and ethnic tensions. Social stability and harmony are, without doubt, profound contributions to the youths' environment, today and in the foreseeable future.

The executive arm under Governor Alia has embraced environmental conservation with fervour, recognising its critical role in sustainable development. By safeguarding natural resources and promoting green initiatives, the administration is securing a healthier and more prosperous Benue for the generations yet to come.

Governor H.E. Hyacinth Alia’s exceptional leadership in Benue State has not just been a bedrock of present-day achievements but also sculpting the contours of a prosperous future, especially for the state's youth.

One of the most consequential aspects of governance that directly affects the everyday lives of citizens is the timely payment of salaries and pensions. In Benue State, a remarkable change has been observed following the consistent disbursement of wages and retirees' benefits on the 25th of each month. The argument herein posits that this punctuality significantly boosts the economic wellbeing of not only the receivers but also the broader community.

The prompt payment of salaries and pensions resonates deeply with the peace of mind and financial security of employees and pensioners. As articulated by the International Labour Organization, consistent and timely remuneration is not just a matter of financial necessity but also one of respect and value for the workforce. Regular payments are crucial for the sustenance of daily living and the economic stability of families, aiding in fostering community development and reducing poverty rates.

For civil servants and pensioners in Benue State, consistent payments play a pivotal role in enhancing their purchasing power. According to a study by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), there is a direct correlation between regular income streams and household expenditure patterns, which ultimately stimulate local economies (NBS, 2021). Regular cash flows allow employees and retirees to make consistent financial plans, including investments, savings, and consumption that invigorate local businesses.

The reliable disbursement of salaries and pensions has also significantly improved the quality of life for Benue residents. It facilitates timely access to healthcare, education, and other essential services, thereby contributing to the better overall wellbeing of the population. A report from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) underscores the positive impact that financial security has on human development indices, including health and education (UNDP, 2020).

Beyond the financial realm, this regularity of payment imbues a sense of security and dignity in the workforce and retirees, strengthens social cohesion and reduces stress-related ailments within the community. It also mitigates the prevalence of corruption and the informal borrowings.

Some may argue that the fiscal strain of maintaining strict salary and pension schedules could limit the government's flexibility in managing statewide economic issues. However, the state's investment in human capital through this consistency is fundamentally an investment in its own economic resilience. As shown by the economic principle of the multiplier effect, regular income distribution can lead to multiple rounds of spending, which bodes well for local businesses and tax revenues.

The empirical evidence indicates that the timely payment of salaries and pensions contributes substantially to the improvement of livelihoods in Benue State. This case exemplifies the principle that a responsible and employee-centric approach in governance catalyses socio-economic stability and growth. Thus, while the financial commitment to maintain this consistency might be challenging, the overwhelming positive outcomes for the people of Benue cannot be understated. The ongoing practice should be upheld, and where possible, emulated by other states to foster national development.

The Stimulation of Local Economies
Entrepreneurs have the unique capacity to stimulate local economies by creating jobs and introducing innovative products and services. For a state like Benue, with its vast agricultural potentials, the promotion of agripreneurship could lead to enhanced productivity and market diversification. The bureau's role could encompass providing training, access to finance, and entrepreneurship education, laying down the groundwork for a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The African continent is characterised by a youthful demographic, and Benue state is no exception. By encouraging entrepreneurship among the youth, the state can address the pressing issue of unemployment and underemployment.

While fostering entrepreneurship is vital for poverty reduction, the endeavours of the Benue State International Cooperation and Development Bureau are just as crucial. International cooperation can play a transformative role in development by facilitating the transfer of technology, knowledge, and resources needed to elevate local economic conditions.

By engaging in international partnerships, Benue state can capitalise on the influx of knowledge and technology. This accessibility can lead to the fortification of the state's agricultural sector through innovative farming techniques and better supply chain management, thereby increasing efficiencies and market competitiveness.

Moreover, the bureau's efforts in strengthening international relationships could lead to an uptick in foreign investments and aid. Foreign investment not only brings capital but also international best practices and standards that can elevate the performance of local industries.

Interplay Between Entrepreneurship and International Cooperation
For the initiatives to yield optimal results, there must be an interplay between fostering entrepreneurship and harnessing international cooperation. Entrepreneurship can thrive in an environment where international standards are embraced, and access to global markets.

Despite the promising potential, the road to successfully implementing these strategies can present numerous challenges. Issues such as bureaucracy, lack of infrastructure, inadequate educational systems, and instability can hinder progress. The state must, therefore, ensure that adequate policies are put in place to address these challenges, and that there is a clear framework for monitoring and evaluation to measure impact.

In summation, the steps taken by the Benue state administration to establish the Entrepreneurship and Wealth Creation Bureau and the Benue State International Cooperation and Development Bureau present a constructive approach towards alleviating poverty and stimulating economic growth. The compelling case for entrepreneurship, complemented by strategic international cooperation, provides a multifaceted platform for tackling poverty at its core. While the potential challenges are not to be underestimated, with a sustained and pragmatic approach, these initiatives hold the promise of unlocking Benue state's economic potential and bettering the lives of its citizens.

The initiatives set forth by the Executive Governor thus reflect an astute understanding of the contemporary drivers of economic development and poverty reduction. It is through such vision and commitment to investing in entrepreneurship and international partnerships that Benue state can forge a path towards a more prosperous future for all its residents.

The plight of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Benue State remains a salient issue, impinging upon human rights and sustainable development within the region. With incessant conflicts, such as farmer-herder clashes disrupting the socio-economic fabric, the call for immediate and effective resettlement strategies has never been more critical. Enter the proactive mission of Governor Alia, who has recently delineated that the construction of cluster houses is underway for the resettlement of IDPs across affected communities.

The challenge facing Benue State is far from insignificant. The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre reports that as of 2020, there were over 2.7 million IDPs in Nigeria, with significant numbers in Benue due to communal violence. Such displacement not only dishevels lives but also stirs a cascade of humanitarian concerns, necessitating immediate government intervention.

Primarily, the endeavours to construct cluster houses align with ethical obligations towards protecting vulnerable populations. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights asserts the right to adequate housing, underscoring that the action undertaken by Governor Alia's administration is a moral imperative, providing solace and security to those who have lost their homes.

Secondly, the socio-economic impacts of such resettlement are profound. Studies indicate that stable housing can lead to better employment opportunities and improved well-being With new cluster houses, IDPs can integrate more seamlessly into local economies, sustaining a cycle of productivity and growth within Benue state.

More ambitiously, the long-term benefits of such housing projects extend beyond immediate relief. Proper resettlement can promote social cohesion and mitigate future conflicts, as shown in the World Bank's findings on conflict-affected areas. By investing in cluster houses, Benue is fostering a forward-looking approach to peacekeeping and stability and we are saying a big congratulations to Governor Alia andthe people of Benue State.

The construction of cluster houses for IDPs in Benue State is not just a strategic move but a testament to ethical leadership and a beacon of hope for the afflicted. While challenges remain, it's incumbent upon the state and the global community to support such noble initiatives. The resolve demonstrated by Governor Alia in addressing this humanitarian crisis helps chart a course for a more resilient and harmonious Benue.

Features: The Prudent Call of Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung of liberia

In the modern era, the shift towards renewable energy has become a global imperative, transcending borders, and rewriting the rules of economic and environmental policy-making. During the Energy Forum (AEF) on June 27, 2024, in Barcelona, Spain, the Honorable Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Vice President of Liberia, made a compelling and strategic call for the advancement of renewable energy projects across the African continent.

One of the fundamental arguments supporting the Vice President’s call lies in the economic sphere. Advancements in renewable energy technology have shown a consistent decrease in costs, making them more financially accessible to developing economies. As such, Africa's rich renewable resources, including hydro, solar, and wind, present an opportunity for sustainable economic growth. The adoption of renewable energy infrastructure would increase energy availability, reduce the continent's reliance on imported fossil fuels, and stimulate local industries. Further, widespread renewable projects have the potential to create a swell of job opportunities, positively affecting unemployment rates.

Renewable energy sources also carry paramount environmental and health advantages. These clean energy sources emit little to no greenhouse gases or air pollutants during their operation, a sharp contrast to the detrimental effects of burning fossil fuels. Additionally, investing in renewables aligns directly with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the imperative to "ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all" (United Nations Development Programme, 2024; https://undp.org). By reducing the carbon footprint and mitigating the impacts of climate change, Liberia, and indeed all African nations, can foster a healthier, more sustainable environment for future generations.

Energy Security and Independence:
Vice President Koung's advocacy for green energy initiatives also highlights a critical issue facing many African countries: energy security. Africa's reliance on imported fossil fuels subjects its economies to global price volatility and supply disruptions, a scenario seen during the energy crises of the early 21st century (African Development Bank Group, 2023; https://www.afdb.org). Renewable energy, derived from local and inexhaustible sources, offers a more secure and stable energy supply. By investing in indigenous renewable resources, African nations can safeguard against external economic pressures and build energy autonomy, an essential foundation for any sovereign nation.

On a geopolitical level, the transition to renewable energy presents Africa with the opportunity to redefine its strategic significance on the global stage. As developed nations seek to meet their climate targets, they will increasingly look to partners who are taking bold steps towards green energy. Africa's commitment to renewable projects can enhance its bargaining power in international relations, climate negotiations, and trade deals, opening doors to new investments and diplomatic partnerships.

Social and Developmental Impact:
Lastly, a consideration that cannot be overstated is the social upliftment that renewable energy can foster across the continent. Access to clean, reliable, and affordable energy has been identified as a catalyst for improving quality of life, alleviating poverty, and promoting gender equality by freeing women and children from the arduous tasks of fuel collection and exposure to harmful indoor air pollution. Through localised energy solutions, rural areas, which often remain in the dark due to the lack of grid infrastructure, could leapfrog into a new era of connectivity and productivity.

Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung's call for the advancement of renewable energy projects in Africa is a visionary step toward reshaping the continent’s energy landscape. Economic considerations, environmental imperatives, energy security, geopolitical benefits, and social impacts underscore the complex advantages of this transformation. As Africa stands on the brink of an energy revolution, it must seize the moment to embrace this sustainable path for the prosperity of its people and the planet. The arguments outlined herein not only support the Vice President’s proposal but also highlight the need for immediate and collective action to harness the immense potential of Africa's renewable resources.

PoliticsAchievements Of General Christopher Gwabin Musa To Nigeria And Nigeria’s Defence by Daudupress(op): 3:39am On Jul 31, 2024
The Impactful Leadership, Contributions and Achievements of General Christopher Gwabin Musa to Nigeria and Nigeria’s Defence

Leadership, a vital force in the narrative of nations, often shapes the destiny of countries and their defence systems. Leadership within the military is even more crucial as it determines not only the success of military operations but also the protection of national sovereignty. On this forefront, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, OFR, the 18th Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria, has made significant strides since his appointment, demonstrating commendable leadership and a dedication to enhancing Nigeria's security.

His leadership is reshaping the Nigerian Armed Forces and contributing to the country’s struggle against various security challenges.

At the helm of Nigeria's military command, General Christopher Musa's role as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) embodies a critical leadership position in the nation's fight against insurgency, particularly against the notorious group Boko Haram, and other severe security menaces beleaguering the African giant. Appointed amidst a cauldron of evolving internal and external security threats, General Musa's strategic responsibilities include policy formulation, military readiness, inter-agency coordination, and fostering international collaborations.

General Christopher Musa, as the CDS, holds the mandate to advise the President and the National Defence Council on military affairs and security strategies. His ascendancy to this role comes with the onerous task of sculpting an effective counterterrorism posture for the Nigerian Armed Forces. A significant part of this portfolio involves crafting robust policies that hinge on intelligence-gathering, agile response to threats, and the overall enhancement of operational capacities

Effective security management, especially in confronting an adaptive adversary like Boko Haram, necessitates a synergy of effort across various agencies. General Musa's tenure has seen an emphasis on joint operations and the integration of efforts amongst the Army, Navy, and Air Force, alongside paramilitary and civilian security structures. By advancing collaborative platforms, the Nigerian Defence Staff has improved interoperability and resource optimisation, curbing duplication of efforts and fostering a united front against insurgents.

In the landscape marred by asymmetrical warfare, General Musa champions the modernisation of the Nigerian military capabilities. This includes the procurement of modern armaments, fortifying aerial surveillance units, and enhancing cyber warfare capabilities. Empowering the forces with advanced technologies and skillsets through training and strategic partnerships is central to this objective.

General Musa's role involves partnerships with international allies to augment Nigeria's defensive apparatus, address capability gaps, and bolster the counterinsurgency repertoire.

General Musa also recognises the significance of addressing the psycho-social factors contributing to terrorism's allure. This includes advancing de-radicalisation programs, community engagement, and fostering socio-economic endeavours that address the root causes of insurgent recruitment. Efforts under his leadership to counter the ideologies that feed Boko Haram are as critical as the physical battlefields operations.

As CDS, General Musa's role extends beyond the military domain to involve diplomatic engagements that reinforce Nigeria's resolve against terrorism. Rallying global support for combating insurgency, participating in multi-national counterterrorism initiatives, and navigating the security implications of international relations exemplify Musa's strategic roles. His advocacy for regional partnerships in the Lake Chad Basin and the ECOWAS region solidifies collective action against shared security threats.

In evaluating General Christopher Musa's approach to Nigeria's security challenges, one cannot ignore the complexities of the landscape he navigates. While concerted efforts under his leadership have made inroads against Boko Haram, the journey towards a comprehensive resolution remains arduous. The essence of Musa's role encapsulates not only the short-term gains in combat but also planting the seeds for long-term peace and security for the nation.

General Christopher Musa's role as the Chief of Defence Staff is an amalgamation of strategic vision, operational oversight, and inter-agency coordination aimed at eradicating the scourge of Boko Haram and fostering a secure atmosphere in Nigeria. As the linchpin in the security apparatus, General Musa's commitment to proficiency, modernisation, joint task formulation, and psychological operations stands as a bulwark against the tide of terrorism and insurgency baffling the nation. His legacy will, ultimately, be measured by the peace and stability that Nigeria can secure for its future generations.

The fight against insurgency in Nigeria has been a prolonged and challenging battle, predominantly against the Islamist militant group, Boko Haram, and more recently, against a splinter group known as the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP). The appointment of General Christopher Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff on 19 June 2023, ushered in a new era of leadership in this struggle.

Under General Musa's leadership, the Nigerian Armed Forces have implemented a series of operational strategies that have intensified the efforts against insurgents. One such example is the reinforcement and Strengthening of 'Operation Hadin Kai,' which was launched to replace the previous 'Operation Lafiya Dole.' This operation represented a shift in tactics, focusing on a doctrine that moves away from purely defensive posturing to more offensive operations aimed at decisively defeating the insurgents.

Furthermore, General Musa has advanced the concept of "Super Camps," which consolidates military presence in strategic locations, thereby giving the forces the flexibility to launch swift and precise counterinsurgency strikes. Such tactics have reportedly led to several successful raids on insurgent camps and the neutralization of key figures in the groups.

Understanding that military might alone cannot wholly address the root causes of insurgency, General Musa has emphasized the importance of community engagement and intelligence gathering. By forging stronger relationships with local communities and collaborating with community leaders, the military has improved its intelligence-gathering capacities, leading to more targeted and effective operations against insurgents.

Recognizing the complexities of counterinsurgency warfare, General Musa has championed stronger interagency cooperation amongst various branches of the Nigerian security apparatus. This integrated approach ensures that military operations are supported and complemented by the efforts of the police, intelligence services, and other security agencies. Interagency collaboration has been instrumental in disrupting the logistics networks of insurgents and curbing the flow of arms and funding to their operations.

Acknowledging the challenging circumstances under which Nigerian troops operate, General Musa has been an advocate for the enhancement of the welfare of military personnel. Improved welfare packages, timely payment of allowances, and the provision of better living conditions are reported to have boosted troop morale. High morale is critical for the effective prosecution of any military campaign, and by enhancing welfare, General Musa has reinforced the drive and effectiveness of the troops involved in counterinsurgency operations.

Critics may argue that despite the various initiatives led by General Musa, the insurgency in Nigeria persists with occasional high-profile attacks still occurring. This counterargument, however, overlooks the broad contextual challenges such as poverty, unemployment, and political instability which fuel the insurgency. Moreover, it disregards the incremental progress and reduction in the frequency and impact of insurgent attacks since General Musa's appointment.

While it is true that the threat from insurgent groups has not been entirely eliminated, security analysts agree that there has been a noticeable improvement in the security landscape. The decline in successful recruitment by insurgent groups, the surrender of several insurgents, and the recapture of territories once held by Boko Haram are testaments to the effectiveness of the strategies employed by the Nigerian Armed Forces under General Musa's leadership.

General Christopher Musa, as the Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria, has implemented a multifaceted approach to combat insurgency in the country. Strengthening operational strategies across all operational theatres and the establishment of 'Super Camps,' alongside initiatives to enhance community engagement, intelligence-gathering, and interagency collaboration, have all contributed to the dwindling capacity of insurgent groups.

Furthermore, by being attentive to the welfare of military personnel, General Musa has played a pivotal role in elevating the morale and operational readiness of troops.

The fight against insurgency is a complex one that necessitates a combination of military prowess and socio-political strategies. While the ultimate eradication of insurgency may still be on the horizon, the efforts of General Musa and the collective resolve of the Nigerian Armed Forces should not be underestimated. Through resilience, dedication, and a dynamic approach, significant strides have been made towards restoring peace and stability in Nigeria.

General Christopher Gwabin Musa is a highly experienced officer, having served in various capacities within the Nigerian Army. His tenure in his new office has been a beacon of hope and resilience, embodying an unwavering commitment to securing Nigeria’s borders and maintaining peace within the nation. He came to prominence after a well-decorated military career with a trajectory that indicated his strategic brilliance and tactical acumen.

Upon assuming office, one of General Musa’s critical areas of focus has been the implementation of strategic reforms and innovations within the military. Recognizing the evolving nature of security threats, he has pushed for modernization in military tactics and the adoption of groundbreaking technologies. These include investments in drone warfare, cyber defence capabilities, and advanced communication systems, which have improved Nigeria's responsive edge against insurgencies and terror threats.

One of General Musa’s most notable achievements is the fortification of the military's counter-insurgency operations, particularly in the fight against Boko Haram and other extremist groups. Under his leadership, several successful operations have led to the recapture of territories previously occupied by insurgents, the destruction of their enclaves, and a considerable decimation of their ranks.

The successful rescue of the 330 Chibok schoolgirls, including women and children, from the hands of Boko Haram terrorists in the Sambisa forest recently is undoubtedly a commendable achievement for the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa. This accomplishment speaks volumes about his leadership skills, strategic planning, and the effectiveness of the Nigerian military's operations against Boko Haram.

Rescuing such a large number of individuals from a notorious terrorist group is no easy feat and requires meticulous planning and execution. It also reflects the dedication and commitment of the Nigerian military in ensuring the safety and security of its citizens, particularly those who have fallen victim to Boko Haram.

The successful operation not only brings hope to the families of the rescued schoolgirls but also sends a strong message to Boko Haram and other terrorist groups that their activities will not be tolerated. It proves that the Nigerian military is capable of disrupting and dismantling the terrorist network, despite the challenges it faces.

General Musa's leadership and the efforts of the Nigerian military in rescuing the Chibok schoolgirls highlight the progress made in the fight against Boko Haram. While there is still work to be done to fully eradicate the group and bring lasting peace and stability to the region, this operation is a significant step in the right direction.

The rescue also underscores the importance of international cooperation and support in addressing the threat of terrorism. It is crucial for the international community to continue providing assistance and collaboration to Nigeria and other affected countries in their counter-terrorism efforts.

Overall, the successful rescue of the Chibok schoolgirls is a significant achievement for General Musa and a positive development in the fight against Boko Haram. It serves as a reminder of the resilience and determination of the Nigerian military in ensuring the safety and security of its people.

Understanding the global nature of security, General Musa has fostered stronger collaborative ties with international allies. Such collaborations have led to increased sharing of intelligence, training, and joint military exercises. This alliance has not only brought in new perspectives on defence strategies but also provided the Nigerian military with the necessary support systems to enhance their capabilities.

General Musa’s regime has also been marked by a noticeable commitment to upholding human rights within military engagements. He implemented policies ensuring compliance with international human rights standards, thereby improving Nigeria's image globally and fostering trust between the military and the civilian populace

General Christopher Gwabin Musa's tenure as the Chief of Defence Staff has been transformative for Nigeria's military. Emphasizing strategic reform, innovative practices, and international collaboration, he has skilfully navigated the complex tapestry of Nigeria's security challenges. His dedication to human rights and effective counter-insurgency operations has set a precedent for future leadership. As Nigeria
continues to face various security threats, the nation stands stronger under the guidance of leaders like General Musa, whose accomplishments are a testament to the power of visionary leadership in the military sphere.

General Christopher Gwabin Musa, OFR, has indeed carved a niche for himself in the annals of Nigeria's defence history, his leadership radiating the essence of commitment, strategy, and patriotism and as such, we can proudly call him the MILITARY WARLORD OF HIS GENERATION I (the First).

PoliticsFeatures: Jeremiah Koung, The Political Moon Of Liberia by Daudupress(op): 4:10pm On Jul 21, 2024
The political landscape of Liberia, a nation with a rich history and a complex fabric of socio-political dynamics, has been shaped by the contributions of numerous individuals whose aspirations and actions have influenced the course of its governance. One such individual, who has recently risen to prominence, is the Honourable Jeremiah Koung – a figure that encapsulates the quintessence of contemporary Liberian politics.

Jeremiah Koung’s ascent within Liberia’s political sphere has been marked by a striking trajectory, symbolising simultaneously the trials and triumphs that characterise the nation’s politics. Born and nurtured in a country marred by civil conflict and economic trials, Koung’s narrative is ostensibly that of a steadfast pursuit of political influence, underscored by an adherence to the principles of dedication and service to his compatriots.

First and foremost, the impact of Koung’s political strategy, underscored by his advocacy for health and social welfare, is not to be underestimated. Prior to assuming his current role, he was instrumental in the establishment of a notable hospital in Nimba County, which is considered a bastion of his influence. This palpable commitment to health care lends credence to the assertion that Koung is not merely a political figurehead, but a servant of the public interest, championing initiatives that matter deeply to the citizenry.

However, the purely idealistic depiction of any political figure is often tempered by the realities of the political machinations they must navigate.

Moreover, Koung’s tenure as Vice President is laden with expectations. With a focus on economic rejuvenation and national unity, his office has been tasked with the formidable challenge of navigating Liberia through the quagmires of post-conflict rebuilding and socio-economic enhancement. The global context within which Koung operates is challenging, a point underscored by The Liberian Observer, which emphasises the difficulty of enacting substantive policy changes in an era of global economic uncertainty.

The foresight and adaptability required in such a role are monumental, but they offer a canvas upon which Koung’s capacity and potential can be projected. Should he succeed in actualising the economic aspirations and fostering unity he espouses, his tenure would be etched into the annals of Liberian political history as an exemplar.

It is here that one must consider the essence of political acumen – not solely in translating aspiration into action but in marshalling the unity of diverse interests towards a common good.

The Liberian Vice President’s international undertakings reflect another dimension of his influence. As head of the Liberian delegation to international forums, Koung’s role in articulating and advancing Liberia’s interests in the global arena is pivotal. The prestige and gravitas he brings to international negotiations have a direct bearing on how Liberia is perceived and treated on the world stage. It is in these arenas that the diplomatic finesse of a country’s leadership is put to the test, and by many accounts, Koung has acquitted himself with a level of competency that deserves acknowledgment

Critically, a nuanced study of Koung’s influence must also engage with the discourse on governance and the investment in Liberia’s youth. The demographic reality of Liberia is that it is a nation with a sizable youth population, many of whom look to leaders like Koung for direction and inspiration. His approach to tackling issues such as education, employment, and entrepreneurship will indelibly shape the future of countless young Liberians and, by the same token, the country’s prospects for sustained progress and stability.

It is impossible to foretell the ultimate impact of Jeremiah Koung’s vice-presidency with certitude; political landscapes are, by nature, shifting sands shaped by many hands.

However, the potency of Koung’s position lies as much in the present as in any future legacy. It is how he manoeuvres through the labyrinth of current socio-political pressures, how he addresses the immediate concerns of his fellow Liberians, and how he reconciles divergent expectations into a coherent vision for Liberia that will define his tenure.

Jeremiah Kough’s ascendancy to the vice-presidency of Liberia is a subject ripe for argumentative discourse. His political prowess is underscored by his dedication to public welfare, his involvement in contentious political skirmishes, and his navigation of the complex interplays of governance. Moreover, his impact on international relations and investment in the future generation compounds the intricacies of his influence. While one may contend with various aspects of his political journey, it is beyond dispute that Koung’s role is a microcosm of the broader dynamics that shape Liberia’s ongoing narrative. As with all political figures, the true measure of his legacy will be determined by the outcomes of his decisions and the perceptions of those he serves. Time, as ever, will be the ultimate arbiter of Jeremiah Koung’s mark on Liberian political history.

In the last few years, the West African nation of Liberia has navigated through a labyrinth of political and socioeconomic challenges to gradually cement its democratic credentials. Part of this ongoing transformation involves the individuals at the helm of governance, notably the Vice President, Jeremiah Koung.

The Vice Presidency is pivotal to the function of the Liberian Government. It acts as the second highest political office and is integral in ensuring that the wheels of democracy keep turning. Vice President Koung, since assuming his role, has been overwhelmingly engaged both nationally and internationally to influencing peace, projects, programs across board to better the economy of the nation and the lives of its citizens.

Before Koung’s ascendancy to vice presidency, his tenure as a legislator had been marked by various contributions to the country’s political and legislative landscape. Democracy thrives on political stability, which is fostered by the implementation of policies that emanate from a legislative framework. Koung’s legislative career, which involves the sponsoring of bills and the active participation in the legislative processes, provided a bedrock for his current role as the Vice president of Liberia.

One of the hallmarks of a thriving democracy is the accountability of its leaders to its citizenry. In this administration, efforts to increase transparency, chiefly initiated by Koung, have been commended by various watchdogs and international agencies. His push to open up government dealings to public scrutiny demonstrates a commitment to a democratic dividend that not only strengthens governance but also empowers citizens.

Vice President Koung has been a champion for enhancing civic engagement, thereby promoting one of the key tenets of democracy – the involvement of citizens in the decision-making processes. His support for initiatives that encourage community involvement in governance matters has been a testament to his belief in a government ‘of the people, by the people, for the people’.

Democracy is not just about the political system; it also encompasses the socio-economic development of a nation. Vice President Koung has often highlighted the importance of education as a fundamental democratic right that enables individuals to participate fully in society. By backing educational reforms and advocating for social programs that aim to lift individuals out of poverty, Koung is contributing to the creation of an informed and empowered populace that is essential for the health of any democracy.

Another dimension where Vice President Koung’s influence has been palpable is in the sphere of human rights and gender equality. Access to rights and equal treatment under the law are critical components of a democracy, and strides in these areas reflect the health of a nation’s political system. Koung has publicly expressed support for policies that fight discrimination and promote the rights of all Liberians, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or religion.

This commitment could potentially see an increase in respect for human rights and more opportunities for women, thus enriching Liberia’s democratic fabric, which is goal 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs. This makes him automatically a He for She Ambassador.

Democracy is an ongoing journey, and Liberia’s road is no exception. Vice President Jeremiah Koung’s tenure has undeniably coincided with a period of burgeoning democratic change. His promotion of accountability, civic engagement, educational investment, and a focus on human rights and gender equality are initiatives that seem to drive the democratic dividends that Liberians are beginning to reap. While it is true that much work remains to be done, and criticism must be acknowledged, it is also fair to recognize the potential positives stemming from the Vice President’s actions and policies.

As Liberia continues to navigate its democratic path, the office of the Vice President, occupied by Jeremiah Koung, will remain instrumental in shaping the direction of the country. With continued emphasis on these democratic principles and the engagement of its citizens, Liberia is poised to enjoy the fruits of a robust and mature democracy, ultimately benefiting all Liberians.

In the realm of Liberian politics, the figure of Jeremiah Koung, as he ascends to the role of Vice President, carries with it a plethora of expectations and apprehensions concerning the nurturing and enhancement of democratic principles in Liberia. Acclaimed for his leadership and revered by his adherents, Koung now faces the pivotal challenge of aligning his perceived leadership style with the broader democratic mission necessary for progression in Liberia’s sociopolitical context.

Jeremiah Koung, a former member of the Liberian House of Representatives and now the incumbent Vice President, is perceived by many as an individual with a strong mandate to lead. His ascendancy in Liberian politics is marked by his prior commitment to addressing the issues faced by his constituents in District 1 of Nimba County.

Koung’s efforts have often been praised for being community-centric, focusing on tangible developments such as health care and education. However, it is imperative to explore how the personal leadership qualities of Koung translate into his capacity and willingness to propagate and uphold democratic principles in his role as Vice President.

A democratic mission in the Liberian context is not simply a political necessity but also a collective aspiration for a society that has been deeply scarred by civil strife and governance challenges. It revolves around the fortification of institutions, the safeguarding of human rights, and the establishment of an accountable governance model that resonates with Liberians’ democratic aspirations. As the Vice President, Koung’s role in this democratic mission is critical, as his authority and actions could potentially influence the direction of Liberian democracy.

Proponents of Jeremiah Koung argue that his leadership posterior is fundamentally aligned with democratic values. They highlight his community-based initiatives, grassroots connection, and responsiveness to constituents’ needs as indicators of his democratic commitment. Koung’s defenders also point out his advocacy for transparency in government dealings, as evidenced by his push for accountability measures in public projects and his own alleged lifestyle of relatively modest means compared to other politicians.

Moreover, Koung’s leadership style—often described as consultative and inclusive—mirrors the participatory governance model central to democracy. Through engaging community voices in the decision-making process and fostering a culture of participation, Koung demonstrates a commitment to involving the citizenry in governance, a cornerstone of democratic systems.

To evaluate Koung’s potential to further Liberia’s democratic mission, one must cautiously balance the arguments for and against his democratic alignment. On one hand, there seems to be a genuine connection between Koung’s community focus and the nurturing of a participatory democracy. Since democracy thrives on active citizen engagement, his style of leadership could stimulate broader civic participation and public debate, providing a fertile ground for democratic ethos to flourish.

Conversely, the true measure of a democracy goes beyond community engagement—it necessitates adherence to the rule of law, protection of minority rights, and a steadfast commitment to political pluralism.

As an influential and ascendant figure in Liberian politics, Jeremiah Koung is poised at a crossroads that will either consolidate or undermine Liberia’s democratic mission. While his leadership style has elements that suggest a democratic disposition, it is imperative that he espouses consistent democratic values through transparent and accountable governance. In doing so, Koung has the potential not only to enhance his leadership perception but to solidify his vice presidency as a critical juncture in Liberia’s democratic journey.
