THAT SAVAGE ATTACK ON APC BY PDP.

Our attention has been drawn to the mischievous and regrettable savage attack by Kola Ologbondiyan's PDP on our party, All Progressives Congress (APC), which is also an attack on a key objective of South-East APC Presidency Project 2023, that is, to use promise of Nigeria's President of South-East extraction on APC platform in 2023 to attract decent and progressive individuals still in PDP and other parties to APC.

According to Ologbondiyan, National Publicity Secretary of PDP, "Nigerians expect a few credible individuals still trapped in the APC to immediately leave that pirate ship before it is too late."

We beg to differ from the PDP on this, as we disagree with them on many of their other jaundiced views. Contrary to the false picture they have painted, the predatory elements in the President Buhari administration are not APC.

They are persons known or unknown to President Buhari who are either PDP or have no known party allegiance. Their mission in the administration is simply to pillage and vicariously give APC a bad name. They are mercenaries in the administration - soldiers of fortune committing atrocities outside APC's progressive manifesto and ethos.

What APC should do and must do with President of Nigeria of South-East extraction on APC platform from 29th May 2023, would be to sanitize the party by expelling the sort of PDP elements and other mercenaries who from 2015 to date have posed as APC members or sympathizers just to partake in a supposed APC-controlled Federal Government.

We say "supposed" because APC cannot be said to exert any influence in Government policies and actions that our detractors mischievously credit to APC.

That is what Dr. Salihu Lukman, Director General of the Progressive Governors' Forum, alluded to when he said that some so-called APC leaders behaved like "criminal bandits".

A true progressive does not shy away from the truth, even if opportunistic anti-people party like the PDP would quickly take advantage of our sincerity and desire to change-the-change in-house.

PDP is not a change agent and should not attempt to deceive Nigerians that it can ever be one; unless it is to change from bad to worst.

APC has a manifesto (a very fine one at that) and PDP should apologize to Nigerians for detailing its mercenaries in the Buhari administration - including Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Agency CEOs, Board Chairmen, Directors, Security and Intelligence Chiefs - to ensure that policies, programmes, projects and practices of the Buhari administration are not reflective of the APC manifesto.

The agenda of South-East APC Presidency Project 2023 is also to religiously implement APC manifesto using only true APC members as government functionaries. APC has clear progressive ideology and that would manifest in the lives of all Nigerians with Nigeria's President of South-East extraction from 29th May 2023.

Contrary to PDP mischief, it is the few progressive persons still in PDP (like Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, Governor Nyesom Nwike of Rivers State, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, and Kola Ologbondiyan himself) who should abandon that ship of notorious pirates and roguish characters for the progressive train of our great party, the APC.

Soon, very soon, APC-controlled Federal Government will not have any PDP or non-APC members anywhere near our corridor of power. The sanitization should start in the remaining lap of the Buhari administration but its full implementation would be guaranteed with President of South-East extraction on APC platform from 29th May 2023.

Troops of Operation FIRE BALL has continuated its aggressive clearance operation to stamp out the remnants of the Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Terrorists in their identified enclaves in the North East region have continued to record more successes.



According to the Ag Director Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko in a press release made available to Africa Security Investigation online newspaper yesterday 14 November, 2020 contained that on 11 November 2020, troops of 151 Battalion deployed in Special Response Area Miyanti acting on credible intelligence embarked on an aggressive Fighting Patrol to clear Boko Haram elements in their hideout in the general area of Ladantar Village.


Benard said, the gallant troops made contact with the terrorists and engaged them with an overwhelming fire power forcing the terrorists to withdraw in disarray.

Disclosing further, he stated that the unrelenting troops gave a hot pursuit and inflicted heavy casualties on the fleeing terrorists. In the aftermath of the decisive encounter, 2 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists were neutralized and one terrorist Improvised Explosive Device (IED) expert was captured. Also, equipments captured includes: one Box of Service Tools, one Gas Cylinder suspected to be for making IED.





In another development, as contained in the statement, troops of super Camp 19 Bitta came under attack from an unconfirmed number of Boko Haram Terrorists who attempted to infiltrate the heavily fortified camp. The eagle eyed troops who were at high alert repelled the criminals with superior fire power forcing them to withdraw in disarray as blood stains littered along their escape paths.

He said, on 8 November 2020, troops of 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison deployed in Gwoza observed Boko Haram criminals advancing to their location in 4 gun trucks and unconfirmed number of foot soldiers. The gallant troops engaged the marauding criminals with heavy fire power neutralizing one suicide bomber while others flee in utmost confusion.

Additionally, on 8 November 2020, troops of 192 Battalion deployed in Gwoza also foiled an attempted attack on their location. After the brief encounter, the criminals escaped with gunshot wounds as traces of blood of dragged casualties were seen during exploitation. However, the valiant troops captured the following; one AK 47 Rifle, one AK 47 Rifle Cover, 4 rounds of Light Machine Gun, 15 rounds of Fabricated 7.62mm, one AK 47 Rifle magazine, 2 rounds of Brownie Machine Gun, 7.62mm links and one Dane Gun.
Others include: 2 Rocket Propelled Grenade bombs and 66 rounds of PKT.



However, the troops of Operation FIRE BALL are commended for their resilience, gallantry and professionalism exhibited since the beginning of the Operation, urged not to rest on their oars but build on the successes recorded so far.



Also, the entire populace of the North East region are assured of the Nigerian military high command determination to finally rout the remnants of BHT/ISWAP criminals from their enclaves in this zone.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha has said that peace in a nation stresslessly births sustainable development.

The SGF made the statement while delivering his key note address at the 2020 National Peace Award ceremony held at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja-Nigeria on the 12 November, 2020.





Boss Mustapha who was ably represented by Mrs. Olushola Dada disclosed that the benefits of peaceful co-existence can't be overemphasized as he hampered on the efforts of the federal government in ensuring sustainable peace in the country.

Boss said that peace should be preached by individuals and religious leaders at all levels, and sundry engagements, stating that the pillar of sustainable development is peace.


Stressing further on the efforts of the government.
"The cost of not living in peace is extremely hard. It gives birth to insurgency and all other destructive agitations which in turn make development impossible to strive through".


Identifying some certain factors which can enhance absence of peace, he said unemployment could be one great factor, as such it is one of the combating areas the federal government has engaged itself in.

He stated that the government has relentlessly engaged unemployment in a battle through sundry initiatives, schemes that would help engage the youths. He enumerated several programs cutting across all levels of government to ensure grassroots implementation amidst which are; the P-YES scheme, N-Power A, B and C, NYIF, COVID-19 Support Fund, Palliative Fund, and several others.
He also disclosed that the Buhari led administration has converted agriculture as a business that is worth it through the instrumentality of border closure. Mentioning also is ensuring quality education, building a fantastic security structure.

Mustapha who was a recipient of the Best Strategist Award of the Year 2020 in ensuring National Peace encouraged Messengers of Peace to go beyond the annual celebration and consistently embark on programs that would benefit the grassroots.

However, he congratulated co-recipients of the year's award as he spurred them to do more in their sundry fields in daily activities.



The Founder, Messengers of Peace Foundation, and Convener of National Peace Award, Dr. Adejo Sulaiman has stated that Nation building can't be achieved in its brim without peace.



The convener however acknowledged God for the initiative to promote peace in the country.
"It is a God owned project", he said.

An eloquent social media influencer, politician, business tycoon, Buba Galadimawa has said that there can't be peace in a nation where there is no justice. In his words, "until justice prevails, there can't be peace.
Thats all I would want to say", he said smiling.

...OPTS: AC Disrupts Cattle Rustling Activities, Mops Up Armed Bandits At Kwiambana Forest In Kaduna State

The Air Component of Operation THUNDER STRIKE has neutralized several armed bandits in the Kwiambana Forest area of Kaduna State.


According to Enenche, the operation, which took place on 12 November 2020, was executed sequel to reports that close to a hundred bandits carrying high calibre weapons, mounted on motorcycles, had rustled a large number of cattle and other livestock from Dankolo and Machitta Villages.

He disclosed that the bandits and the rustled livestock were subsequently spotted by a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft on reconnaissance mission at Kaboru Village heading towards Kwiambana Forest.


The Air Component therefore dispatched a NAF attack helicopter to the location which engaged the target area, leading to the neutralization of several of the bandits.

The Nigerian Armed Forces in its continued effort to clear armed bandits and other criminal elements so as to return sanity to the Northwest zone, troops of Operation SAHEL SANITY have intensified the tempo of offensive operation within the theatre, thus, recorded more successes against the bandits.


According to the Ag Director Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko in a press release made available to Africa Security Investigation online newspaper on the
13 November 2020 disclosed that on 12 November 2020, troops while on routine patrol along the fringes of Dajin Wuta Forest came in contact with bandits on motorcycles. In their attempt to escape from the advancing troops, the terrified bandits ineffectively opened fire and withdrew into the forest but the resilient troops gave them a hot pursuit with overwhelming fire power. In the aftermath of the encounter, one bandit was neutralized and one AK-47 rifle loaded with 27 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition was captured while several others are believed to have escaped with varying degrees of gunshot wounds as evident in the trails of blood along their escape routes during exploitation.


Bernard stated that troops has continued to dominate the general area in search of any straying bandit.



Also, on 11 November 2020, troops deployed at Angwan Doka, during a clearance operation rescued 2 teenage girls at Munhaye village. Preliminary investigation revealed that the duo were kidnapped by suspected bandits at Dan Aji village in Faskari LGA of Katsina State. The victims also revealed that their abductors freed them and fled on noticing troops presence in the area.



The gallant troops of Operation SAHEL SANITY are commended for the successes achieved and their commitment. They are further urged not to rest on their oars until the Northwest zone is rid of all criminal activities. Additionally, the good people of the Northwest are once more assured of the troops' commitment to safety of lives and properties within the zone.



They are also encouraged to avail the troops with timely and credible Information that will assist in the conduct of their operations.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has pledged its support to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and States of Delta and Enugu to investigate and respond to recently reported deaths from unknown cause in some communities now identified to be due to an outbreak of Yellow Fever.

The Ministries of Health for both states notified the NCDC on 02 and 03 November 2020 respectively of cases presenting with symptoms indicative of viral hemorrhagic fever. As at 06 November 2020, three samples from Delta and one from Enugu tested positive for Yellow fever at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital Laboratory and NCDC’s National Reference Laboratory, Abuja. Additional blood samples have since similarly tested positive, hence, an outbreak of Yellow Fever was confirmed.

It is worthy of note to know that yellow fever is caused by a virus spread through the bite of infected Aedes aegypti mosquitos. This type of mosquito bites during the day. Some of those infected develop serious symptoms, including high fever, loss of appetite, nausea, muscle pains, headache and jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes). Some die from the complications of internal bleeding and organ failure.

Similarly, Infection with Yellow Fever virus is easily prevented by a vaccine that provides immunity for life. Large epidemics of yellow fever occur when infected people introduce the virus into heavily populated areas with high mosquito density and low vaccination coverage. In Delta State, for example, all cases have no history of Yellow fever vaccination, including a one-year-old baby. Investigations further revealed that adults who bring their children for immunization have always refused to receive yellow fever vaccination when offered by health workers.

With the onset of the current outbreak, epidemiologists, and other health professionals in WHO, NCDC and NPHCDA are working in support of State public health teams or Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) that have been organized and trained in each of the affected States. Outbreak investigation is ongoing in each state through the RRTs under the coordination of respective State Ministries of Health. Hospitals have been identified in each state and capacitated to manage patients who develop symptoms and complications.

Initiating a response to the outbreak, Enugu State Commissioner for Health, Dr Ikechukwu Emmanuel Obi during the EOC meeting after definitive diagnosis of the disease said that the disease had been reported from Etteh-Uno and Umuopu communities in Igbo-Eze north LGA. He indicated that the state RRT had done an outbreak investigation and identified those so far affected. He promised to facilitate a reactive Yellow fever mass vaccination intervention for the affected and neighboring LGAs.

Meanwhile, sensitization campaign is being implemented in the communities with reported cases on avoiding daytime mosquito bites, keeping home surroundings clean and clearing mosquito bleeding areas. People who develop symptoms are being encouraged to urgently seek medical help at nearest health facilities.

Nigeria has been battling successive yellow fever outbreaks since September 2017. The NPHCDA, with assistance from WHO has been applying and obtaining donated vaccines through the International Coordinating Group (ICG) on Vaccine Provision, established in 1997, to manage the provision of emergency vaccine supplies to countries during major outbreaks to conduct reactive vaccination campaigns in response to outbreaks. This year, proactive vaccination campaigns were planned for most at risk states including Delta. The Delta campaign that was supposed to start by the end of the month of November 2020, has now been brought forward and started on 10 November, 2020 the affected LGAs.

Speaking on the outbreak, Dr Walter Kazadi Mulombo says that Nigeria is one of the countries implementing Eliminate Yellow Fever Epidemics (EYE) strategy. This strategy is being steered by WHO, Gavi the Vaccine Alliance and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), to protect at-risk populations, prevent international spread and contain outbreaks rapidly.

“As part of EYE strategy, Nigeria has developed a 10-year strategic plan for the elimination yellow fever epidemics. Through this strategy, the country plans to vaccinate at least 80% of the target population in all states by 2026”, Dr Mulombo said. The Delta statewide proactive vaccination campaign was planned under the EYE strategy.

The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has recorded more successes in its air campaign against Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) in the North East of the Country. The latest of these was achieved through air strikes executed on 10 November 2020 at Njimia and Dure in the Sambisa Forest area of Borno State. The attacks, which resulted in massive damage to the BHTs’ structures as well as the neutralization of several of their fighters, were conducted after series of aerial surveillance missions showed resurgence of activities in the 2 locations.




According to the Coordinator Defence Media Operations Defence Headquarters,
Major General John Enenche in a press release made available to Africa Security Investigation online newspaper today
12 November, 2020 disclosed that the ATF dispatched appropriate force packages of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) attack aircraft
to engage the locations. The NAF jets scored devastating hits in their successive bomb and rocket runs resulting in the destruction of the terrorists’ structures and neutralization of several BHTs.



The Armed Forces of Nigeria has also affirmed that it will not relent until all enemies of the Nation are neutralised and normalcy is restored to all troubled zones.

The World Health Organization (WHO) finds that 18.3% of COVID-19 deaths in the African region are among people with diabetes, one of the conditions that global studies have found to increase the risk of severe illness and death among patients infected with the virus.

The WHO analysis of 14 African countries, which provided information on COVID-19 and comorbidities, showed that the risk of complications or death from COVID-19 among people with diabetes increases with age, with people aged 60 years and above facing greater risks.

Diabetes is a major cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, stroke and lower limb amputation, but with early diagnosis and treatment, many of the harmful effects of the disease can be delayed or even avoided. The disease occurs either when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin [type 1 diabetes] or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces [type 2 diabetes]. The more common is type 2 diabetes.

However, over the past three decades, the occurrence of type 2 diabetes has risen dramatically in all countries around the world. The African Region has experienced a six-fold increase, from 4 million cases in 1980 to 25 million in 2014. With around 60% of people living with diabetes undiagnosed, the African region has the highest proportion of people unaware of their status. A study in Kenya found that 60% of people diagnosed with the chronic condition were not on medication.

“Far too many people are in the dark as to whether they have diabetes. People with this chronic condition suffer a double blow if they are also infected with COVID-19,” said Dr Matshidiso Moeti, WHO Regional Director for Africa. “We must turn this around by investing in early detection, prevention and treatment of diabetes.”

At the onset and the peak months of the COVID-19 pandemic, health services for diabetes were particularly disrupted. Only about a third of reporting countries in a WHO survey of 41 countries in sub-Saharan Africa indicated that services were fully functional.

“We must not lose sight of other health challenges as we combat COVID-19. World Diabetes Day is a key moment to call attention to this chronic illness, which is increasingly threatening the lives of Africans,” Dr Moeti said.

World Diabetes Day is marked on 14 November every year.

In many African countries, access to basic equipment for diagnosis and monitoring of diabetes is a challenge, especially in public and remote health facilities. There are also limited supplies of insulin and oral hypoglycaemic medicines for diabetes on the continent, while health workers are not sufficiently trained in diabetes diagnosis and care for patients.

It was also disclosed that the African region is also witnessing a rise in diabetes risk factors such as obesity. Increasingly sedentary lifestyle and consuming foods rich in sugar, fats and salt is heightening obesity, ranging from 2.5% of adults in Burundi to 26.9 % in Seychelles.

WHO stated that it is working with countries to train more nurses and other health workers and to expand access to diabetes prevention and care services through the WHO Package of Essential Noncommunicable Disease Interventions for Primary Health Care in Low-Resource Settings. Twenty-five countries have adopted the package and are working to decentralize and improve early diabetes detection and patient care.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) says the troops of 17 Brigade, attached to Nigeria-Niger Republic border patrol, along Katsina – Jibia road has arrested one Hajiya Fatima Lawali from Shaku village of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State suspected wife and collaborator of bandits.

The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters Major General JOHN ENENCHE stated this during his press briefing on the update on operations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in conjunction with other security agencies across the Country from 5 to 11 November 2020 in Abuja on the 12 November 2020.

He said the suspect claimed to have left the village to visit her parent in Kusa village close to Gahoni village in Katsina but preliminary investigation revealed that she was on her way to rejoin her husband who fled Shaku village to Kano State for fear of arrest.

Gen Enenche added that the suspect is currently in custody for further investigation.

The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations continued to note that also in the NORTH-WEST zone, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI and other subsidiary operations have sustained various aggressive operations in the North-West zone of the country successfully.

“The gallant troops within the period carried out series of clearance operations, ambushes, aerial and confidence building patrols.

“In one of the operations conducted on 8 November 2020, troops of Operation ACCORD acting on credible intelligence on movement of suspected gun runners at Tangaza Town in Sokoto State arrested 2 suspects, named Abubakar Mohammed and Ansi Usman Janare.

“Items recovered include one Light Machine Gun, four AK47 rifle magazines, 586 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 100 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and one motorcycle.

“The suspects are currently in custody for further action. Equally, on same day, following credible intelligence about bandit’s activities at Fegi Baza village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, troops swiftly mobilized to the area and made contact with armed bandits.

“After exchange of fire, the gallant troops overwhelmed the bandits thereby neutralizing 2 of them.

“Similarly, troops of Forward V Base, Bagega on 9 November 2020, acting on a tip off arrested a suspected bandit’s informant named Bashar around Kawaye village of Anka Local Government Area.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly sneaks into Bagega Town every night to gather information on troop’s movement and pass same to bandits. The suspect is currently in custody undergoing investigation.

“Equally, within the period in focus, the Air Component of Operation THUNDER STRIKE neutralized several armed bandits in the Kuzo area of Kaduna State, as they attempted to move hundreds of rustled livestock through the area.

“In another development, a notorious bandit leader named, Saleh Tururuwa and his associate Muhammadu Sani Magaji both of Illela village in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State denounced their membership to the banditry group and surrendered Ten AK47 rifles to the Katsina State Government.

“The gallant troops have continued to dominate the general area with aggressive, confidence building and aerial patrols to deny bandits freedom of action.

“Thus, the locals are requested to cooperate with the security agencies and avail them with the necessary information that will be useful to our collective objective of taking out the criminals from the zone.

NORTH EAST ZONE
“In continuation of our efforts in the fight against terrorism in the North-East zone, several land and air operations were conducted by the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies with significant results.

During the period, troops recorded laudable successes in both land and air operations.

Within the period, the Land Component of Operation LAFIYA DOLE under the subsidiary Operation FIRE BALL, conducted several robust operations.

Troops executed attacks on terrorists’ hideouts and repelled attacks on own troops’ locations.

During the encounters, the superior firepower of own troops resulted in decimation of several BHT/ISWAP terrorist elements, Notably, between 7 and 8 November 2020, the gallant troops of 27 Task Force Brigade located at Buni Gari of Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State neutralized 5 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists. In the course of the encounter cache of Arms and Ammunition were recovered.

On 8 November 2020, troops of 151 Task Force Battalion deployed at Special Response Area Miyanti in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State while on fighting patrol made contact with a pocket of Boko Haram elements.

The gallant troops instinctively engaged them with heavy volume of fire and consequently destroyed their hideout.

The troops further rescued one woman and 3 children unharmed from the criminals.

In the same vein, the Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE neutralized several Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters and destroyed some of their structures, including a suspected fuel storage facility, at Tumbun Allura, a terrorists’ logistics hub on the fringes of Lake Chad in the Northern part of Borno State.

The air raid was executed on 8 November 2020, on the heels of credible Human Intelligence reports as well as aerial surveillance missions which led to the identification of a command post as well as a suspected fuel dump, with large number of jerry cans and barrels concealed in make shift structures within the settlement.

The attack aircraft, engaged the location, scored accurate hits in the target area resulting in the destruction of the terrorists’ fuel dump.

Several ISWAP elements were also neutralized as a result of the air strike.

The Military High Command commends the gallant troops for their resilience, doggedness and commitment exhibited during the encounters.

They are equally encouraged not to rest on the successes so far achieved but build on them.

The general public are hereby assured of the determination of the High Command of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to rout out the criminal elements from the North East.

NORTH-CENTRAL ZONE
In continuation of intensive kinetic operations against armed bandits and other criminals in the North Central zone, troops of Operations SAFE HAVEN and WHIRL STROKE conducted raids at identified criminals’ hideouts successfully.

Notably, on 7 November 2020, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN conducted a dawn raid at an identified kidnapper’s hideout in Kasit village of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State. During the operation, troops apprehended a kidnapper and gang-leader one Mr Joshua Iliya.

The suspect and his gang members were allegedly involved in some recent kidnappings in the general area. Presently, he is undergoing interrogation to be handed over to the relevant prosecuting agency.

Similarly, on 8 November 2020, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN, acting on a tip-off, arrested one Mr Adamu Musa posing as a Department of State Services operative at Jenta village in Qua’n Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The suspect was subsequently handed over to the appropriate agency for further action.

Additionally, Troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI on 9 November 2020, in a follow-up operation, after the arrest of a gunrunner in Gusau, Zamfara State, arrested 4 suspected gunrunners named Daniel Ishaku, Musa Bala, Abubakar Umar and Mohammed Saidu at Jos Metropolis in Plateau State.

The suspects had negotiated to sell some arms and ammunition. One AK47 rifle and one magazine were recovered. Suspects are currently being held at Headquarters Operation SAFE HAVEN for further action.

SOUTH-SOUTH ZONE
Troops of Operation DELTA SAFE have sustained the fight against crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism and illegal oil bunkering in the zone with significant successes.

On 10 November 2020, troops of Sector 2 Operation DELTA SAFE, got credible intelligence on plans by vandals to move Shell Petroleum Development Company stolen pipes from Amabuluo Federated Community, Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State to an undisclosed location in Warri, Delta State.

The troops immediately mobilized on a fighting patrol to the general area.

Duringthe operation the troops arrested 10 crew men, a Tugboat and Barge loaded with 113 stolen pipes suspected to have been vandalized from the South Forcados Opukushi trunk line.

The suspects and all recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate authority for further action.

Similarly, on 9 November 2020, Forward Operating Base IBAKA gunboats on routine patrol around Utan Iyata creek intercepted a medium size wooden boat laden with 72 drums of 300 litres with product suspected to be illegally refined AGO being transported to the Republic of Cameroon.

The items and the 2 suspects are currently in custody to be handed over to the relevant agency for necessary action.

In another development, troops of 146 Battalion discovered and immobilized 2 reactivated illegal refineries containing unspecified litres of illegally refined AGO at Samkiri in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Additionally, troops of 29 Battalion intercepted 2 locally made boats conveying substance suspected to be crude oil along Ibaa/Rumuji Waterways in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Within the period, Operations CALM WATERS II and SWIFT RESPONSE have continued to record more successes.

In this regard, about 353 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice and 48 cartons of Tramadol tablets containing 10 packets each concealed in 35 cartons were arrested and handed over to Nigerian Customs Service. Other items intercepted were one bale of used clothes as well as 850 litres of PMS.

On the whole, the Military High Command encourages the troops and personnel of other security agencies to remain dogged and sustain the tempo in all the Joint Operations Areas.

The High Command also reassures the general public of its unwavering commitment to securing the country for all human activities to strive.

Members of the general public are enjoined to continue providing timely information on the activities of criminals in their various localities to the nearest military and other security agencies location for prompt and effective action.

An international Non-governmental Organization (NGO), World Sustainable Development Goals Organisation, (WSDGsO) has congratulated Mal. Salihu Danlami, who until his appointment was the speaker, Arewa Youth Assembly.

Mal. Salihu Danlami who was appointed member, Youth Football Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was described by the organization as a youth with a difference, focused on ensuring a better life for the Nigerian youths pointed out that his appointment was meritorious.

As part of efforts to boost agriculture and ensure products get to the market to enhance the economic status of farmers, the Kogi State Government has commenced aggressive construction of roads to open up agrarian areas across the State.


The State Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr Abubakar Ohere told our correspondent in Lokoja that the Ministry is responding to the marching order of the Governor to open up rural roads and make life comfortable for rural dwellers and farmers.


"The Governor procured equipment for the State Road Maintenance Agency to open up rural areas. One of the problems we face in the rural areas is the fact that the roads are largely inaccessible.

"We are changing the narrative now as we have commenced a major operation to open up rural roads. It is not about rhetoriccc, but action in the spirit of doing more.


"We are currently working in Mopamuro LGA and we are getting very positive responses from the people. The reason the Kogi people voted for Governor Yahaya Bello for a second term was because they believe he will continue to serve them. It doesn't matter where, he is Governor of all.



"The Governor has a vision to make Kogi better, to take governance to all Kogites no matter where they live".


Also, the Commissioner for Information and Communications thanked the Governor for remembering Mopamuro LGA in the ongoing agrarian roads scheme, saying the people will continue "to repose an unimpeachable confidence in the Governor".


"We have not seen the State Government's earth moving equipment in this area for the past 10 years. Our people are continuing to reap the benefits of their support for the Governor", he said.

Engineers from the Department of Highway Bridge and Design (Road Design North) of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing Abuja in partnership with the Kogi State Ministry of Works and Housing and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have begun visit to deplorable roads in Kogi State.


This was revealed today in Lokoja by Engr Omotayo O. Awosanya Head of the Department of Highway Bridge and Design Federal Ministry of Works and Housing during a stakeholders interactive session on the possible ways to profer lasting solution to the incessant road accident in Kogi State.

Recall that after the visit of His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State to the office of the Honorable Minister of Works and Housing, Hon. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) in Mabuchi, Abuja on the need to give urgent attention to deplorable Federal Roads in the State.

Subsequently, the Kogi State Honorable Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar S. Ohere called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to quickly intervene on the the deplorable condition of Federal roads in the State in order to avoid accident in this “Mber” months.

Engr. Ohere noted that the State Government can’t fold its hands without making efforts to make roads passable considering the socio economic importance of the roads to the State and the nation at large.
” We are appealing to the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to graciously approve the reenforcement of the compliance of the contract awarded for the construction of Ganaja road and others roads in Kogi State” he requested.

Engr. Omotayo in his opening speech said that his Team is here on behalf of the Honorable Minister of Works and Housing Hon. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) to conduct a site visit to Felele area of Lokoja and other deplorable points in the State in order to create a remedy for the incessant accident in Nigeria.

He further revealed that the two major flash points for road accident in Nigeria are the Felele area of Lokoja Kogi State and the Otedola Bridge in Lagos, stressing that the Honorable Minister of Works and Housing is quite worried on the frequent reoccurrence of ghastly motor accident at these two points therefore demanding stakeholders to brainstorm on the possible ways to end this devastating occurrences within the shortest time.

Suggesting the remedy that could mitigate this nasty occurrence, the Acting Director Civil Engineering Department, Kogi State Ministry of Works and Housing, Engr. Simon Oguche maintained that the only ways to avert this menace is to construct an inter-change, create a service lane, develop a shoulder and build speed breakers at the necessary points, with this he said problem of incessant accident on Felele area of Lokoja will be laid to rest.

In the same development, Mr. Idris Fika, the Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attributed the cause of the frequent motor accident in the Felele area of Lokoja to Human Activities adding that if the Lokoja International Market is relocated or people are restricted to trade within the market without hanging outside the fence of the market for trading activities, the frequent horrible experience on that road will be drastically reduced.

He further noted that if proper action is not taken now with the presence of Lokoja International Market, Kogi State Polytechnic, Federal University Lokoja, International Terminal, and the proposed Federal Medical Centre on that road, it could be more devastating in the future than what we are currently passing through now.

During inspection to the failed section on Ganaja road, Engr. Omotayo appealed to the representative of Federal Road Mentainance Agency (FERMA) Engr. Bankole to commence a palliative work on Ganaja road immediately to ease commuters in this “Ember” season.

On reaching Felele site, Omotayo also reiterated that due recommendation by his Team to the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing would bring a lasting solution to the incessant road accident in Felele area of Lokoja.

In his recommendation, there shall be a Double Service Lane on the both sides of the road, there shall be an Interchange or Grace Separation and speed breakers on Dual carriage as such will help to decongest the road.

He further added that, a shoulder (Parking Lane) shall be constructed to avoid vehicles parking any how.
This he said will be done in appropriate places on the Felele Road.
Engr Omotayo appealed to the State Government to secure the right of way as such would ease the work of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, he said.

The Founder and General Overseer, Faith Arena Ministry, Prophet Monday Agada has reacted on the trending #EndSARS protest in the country.

The Spiritual leader believes that the protest is a struggle for a better Nigeria that was incubated in a peaceful protest, until it was hijacked by hoodlums.

He said that the voice of the youths was loud and clear and the #EndSARS was a metaphor that addressed the many challenges in the country including police reform and other forces.

The Prophet made the statement yesterday in an exclusive interview with our correspondents in his church auditorium at Ushafa, Abuja.

The Prophet said, “when I went to Ghana last year, I never saw police harassing people on the roads. The airport is automated. But in Nigeria, men of the Police force buy uniforms for themselves. It is a shame. The state of the barracks is an eyesore.
some of the men of the Nigerian Police force are not qualified to be there. Some of them put-on palm sandals on their uniforms, carry a huge stick in a manner that shows as if they are killing a snake. It is bad” the Prophet added.

He further said that government must involve youths in the act of governance.

He made the allusion to the just concluded USA election where a thirty-one (31) year old was elected into the parliament. This is opposed to what happens in Nigeria where the defunct SARS operatives are sent against any descenting voices.

According to Prophet Monday Agada, prayers are being offered for the country but there is gross injustice in the nation, the oil producing communities remain in abject poverty, young graduates jobless and those with skills are not empowered.

On the killings during the #ENDSARS, he said, “each time I look at those gory videos, I shed tears. A woman was on her way to pick her children from school but was killed by the hoodlums in Dutse.

What is happening in Nigeria is worse than the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. Those innocent blood are crying for justice.
In Lagos, the camera at the Lekki Toll Gate stopped working abruptly. This is a digital age. No secret can be covered anymore” he said.

In addition, Prophet Monday Agada reinstated that Nigeria belongs to all in the country and there is need for a new constitution since the current constitution has failed the citizens.

He concluded that Nigerian youths are talented but the old leaders try hard to teleguide the youths and the notion that youths are inexperienced is erroneous.

The Nigerian Youth Congress, NYC, has launched a new online radio station as part of efforts to reduce the prevalence of fake news and misinformation among the youths.


The channel, through effective and timely communication, is also expected to sensitive the youths to opportunities for economic development across the country.

Speaking at the event in Abuja on Monday, the NYC President, Blessing Akinlosotu, said: “The NYC has acknowledged that many youths listen to, and believe in fake and toxic news that do speak to a united Nigeria.


“Moreover, many youths do not fact-check the details of the news they come across on the internet. If the menace is not checkmate without necessarily gagging press freedom, Nigeria may have no future.


“We, therefore, believe that the youths must be motivated through deliberate efforts to think well of a prosperous Nigeria, listen to issues objectively, generate solutions to our many problems, and engage in healthy conversations.

“It is towards these possibilities that we consider it a thing of value to celebrate the first ever National Youth Day with the launching of a radio channel as a way of proffering solutions to the many challenges confronting the Nigeria youths today, especially the menace of fake news online.”

Part of the new station line-up includes well-known youth presenters: Joseph Alaibi and Miriam Nonye, alongside Sam Lawson a.k.a. DJ Kadabadabash. Meanwhile, veteran broadcaster Prince Victor Alobari will pilot the affairs of the channel as station manager.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), in collaboration with the European Union (EU) and the government of Germany has launched three transnational projects designed to curb Organized Crime in West Africa.

The projects dubbed ‘Organised Crime: West African Response’ (OCWAR) is designed to support ECOWAS Member States in countering criminal activities in the region.

This was contained in a press release made available to Africa Security Investigation online newspaper in Abuja, NIGERIA, recently.

According to the statement, the event indicated a strong commitment by ECOWAS and European Union Member States to reduce transnational organised crime in West Africa. At the event, In what was described as a dynamic and comprehensive partnership, the ECOWAS Commission and its agencies has affirmed it’s will to work closely with two European Member States’ bodies, namely the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Expertise France (EF).

Speaking on the occasion, the Head of EU delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Ambassador Ketil Karalsen
pointed out that many criminal activities in West Africa are transnational in nature which demand a regional response to effectively strike on criminal networks.

He expressed the hope that the support will boost a regional response decisively in addressing all forms of organised crime. This he said is vital for peace and security in the region.

Also speaking on the occasion, the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Birgitt ORY noted that the current security
challenges in the Sahel underscored the need for decisive multilateral cooperation. She told participants that
transnational crime in West Africa requires a regional response noting that countering and preventing
organized crime in West Africa continues to be a high priority for Germany.

The ECOWAS Commissioner of Finance, Mrs HALIMA AHMED said the three projects will stimulate cooperation between law enforcement agencies and private Internet service providers thereby facilitating financial investigations.

She noted that in addition to fighting cybercrime, the ECOWAS member states have opted to tackle the issue of enhancing cybersecurity in the region.

The ECOWAS Commissioner for Telecommunication and Information Technologies, Dr. Zouli
Bonkoungou also said that the OCWAR-C project will contribute to improving cybersecurity in the region by establishing and maintaining a secure cyberspace to protect national and regional interests and preserve
the fundamental rights of West African citizens.

The ECOWAS Commissioner for Social Affairs and Gender, Dr. Siga Fatima Jagne said reports indicated that due to the COVID-19 which exacerbated the plight of many vulnerable communities, organized criminal groups are likely to recruit more people, including children and teenagers into the drug trade.

She noted that organized crime groups appear to be preying on vulnerable groups to ensure grassroot outreach while encouraging drug consumption amongst recruits to create dependency and ensure loyalty. This she said must
also be taken into consideration in the implementation of the OCWAR-T programmes.

The Director General of GIABA Mr. Kimelabalou ABA said his organisation remains determined, in collaboration with its technical partners, to support Member States for the diligent and effective implementation of AML / CFT measures to prevent criminals from taking advantage of the COVID-19 situation make their illicit activities prosper.

The Director of Peace and Regional Security, ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Agnekethom Cyriaque, stressed on the need to increase the financial capacity of the organization to ensure that it can effectively fight transnational
crime in the region.

The OCWAR projects’ inauguration coincides with the emerging need for a broad response to tackling criminal activities in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To this end, the event focused on addressing the impact of the virus, which has led to new patterns and trends as criminal networks adapt to the constraints imposed on citizens, businesses and authorities. Organised crime in West Africa takes many forms. The three OCWAR projects are designed as a coherent, the-pronged approach to criminal activities: 1) fight against cybersecurity threats and cybercrime
(OCWAR C); 2) combatting trafficking in drugs, human beings and firearms (OCWAR T); 3) addressing cross
cutting issues such as money laundering, financing of terrorism and fraud (OCWAR M).

The main beneficiaries of the OCWAR projects are the 15 ECOWAS Member States and Mauritania.

The overall EU contribution equals EUR 41 million, which includes the German Federal Government co-financing of the OCWAR T project totalling EUR 5 million.

The projects are expected to run until 2022-2023.
Working on all three fronts will allow for greater synergy and strengthening of inter-agency collaboration.

Moreover, the projects build on and complement previous and on-going EU-funded support, including the West Africa Police Information System (WAPIS).

Hon. Francis Ezeude has joined staff and entire youths in Nigeria and Diaspora to commiserate with the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Youth and Students Affairs, Nasir Sa'idu Adhama over the death of his Grandfather, (Khalifa) Muhammad Abdurrabbihi Adhama.

The condolence Message is contained in a statement issued on behalf of other staff and colleagues on Monday 2nd November, 2020

Hon Francis Ezeude,who is still shocked with the Sad News, said his prayer and thoughts along with All Nigerian Youth, is with the family of the departed patriarch of the Adhama family.

"Our heartfelt sympathy goes to the entire Adhama family for this loss of its quintessential patriarch and reservior of traditional values".

The entire Staff also prayed saying "may the Almighty Allah grant the entire family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss; and grant Khalifa Muhammad Abdurrabbihi Adhama Jannatul Firdaus."

National Youth Day Speech Delivered By the President, Nigerian Youth Congress, His Youthfulness Blessing A. Akinlosotu presented on the 1st of November, 2020 on behalf of the Nigerian Youths.


Prototypely, we wish to heartily appreciate the federal government for considering the youths worthy to have it's special day set aside to recount and refresh our (the youths) sense of belongings within and outside the country.

It was a blossoming morning on the 2nd of September, 2020 upon unfolding the good news of the approval of a set aside National Youth Day by the Buhari led government into the waves.

The approval wasn't only a sign of prioritizing the interest of the youths but a sign that has acknowledged the essential roles of the youths in nation-building. Honestly, we wouldn't take this gesture for granted.

The Buhari led government without missing words is doing a great deal for the Nigerian youths compare to other previous administrations through a raw fight against unemployment amidst youths by initiating several programs including N-Power, Nigeria Youth Investment Fund, COVID-19 Support fund, Artisans Fund, P-YES and others. However, we are still optimist that you would do more as your best is yet not enough, and as a father that you are to the Nigerian youths, as well as your children that we are, we would always not see enough until we can see equitable Grassroot implementations of the entire programs, schemes and initiatives targeted at youths.

Going by the theme of the maiden National Youth Day celebration: "Invest in the youths, Secure our future". It has been proven severally that Nigerian youths are superlatively endowed with great potentials. To this effect, there is a need for the government to invest in the youths both in leadership by signing the Electoral Act into law and involving us the youths in the executive and legislative arms of the government at all levels.

When this is structurally done using the instrumentally of the parliament and made legal, both the youths, the government and the general public will now nod in a prove to securing not only the future of the youths but also the future of our nation Nigeria. And then, the aphorism 'Nigeria will be great again', begins manifestation without mental, economic stress.

In our own contribution for this special day for the youths, Nigerian Youth Congress, NYC, will be launching " Nigerian Youth Radio", by 10 AM today. This is first of its kind in the history of Africa. What a wonderful initiative!

We have not just come together, garner resources because we want to have a radio, far from it. We have discovered that youths need a nitch where they can call their own.

Also, it would add value to the Nigerian nation through job creation amongst youths in the country.

We know that radio as a means of communication has a lot to offer Nigerians as a country, as many people tune in to radio stations to know the happenings in their society. The NYC's apex leadership with a sound blueprint of fine-tuning the minds of youths to creativity, hard work, skill acquisition, general youth engagements and the likes has come out with this initiative to raise hopes of the Nigerian youths in radio communication. Nigerian Youth Congress deserves an applause for this great development.

We also acknowledge that many youths have involved themselves in listening to toxic news that doesn't tell well of a United Nigeria. The NYC believes that youths must listen to programmes that motivates them to think well of a prosperous Nigeria, listen to issues that brings solutions to our many problems, and engage in healthy conversations.

It is towards these possibilities that NYC through my leadership as the National President believes that it will be of value to celebrate National Youth Day with the radio channel so as to proffer solutions to the many challenges confronting Nigeria today.

This will serve as our contribution to mark the maiden National Youth Day in Nigeria.

The immediate past Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi state executive governor, His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Bello on Security matters for Bassa Local Government area and the Bassa Local Government chairmanship flag bearer of the All Peoples Congress, APC, Hon. Mohammed Shuaibu Muktar has said that the pillars to which success, overwhelming achievements can be attained as well as sustainable development are solely on the account of unity of purpose.

Muktar made the statement in an exclusive interview with Africa Security Investigation correspondent in Lokoja yesterday 1 November, 2020 while commending the youths for a wonderful maiden edition of the National Youth Day celebration.

The flag bearer affirming his resolve in transforming the local government if given the mandate, disclosed that Bassa Local Government will be great again soon as he assumes office as the executive chairman of Bassa local government pointing out that he was once tested and up till now his landmarks remains there.
“I am optimistic that my humble self as the executive chairman of Bassa local government area, if given the mandate, we are rest assured that I will deliver beyond everyone’s imagination.

I am a son of the soil, I grew up in the land, I have not domiciled elsewhere even for a while. Thus, I can factually tell you that I know every single challenge the local government is faced with and I assure you all that with the help of the ever dogged, capacity governor, His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Bello, every challenge will be handled. Even projects that have been on standstill will be revived again”, he assured.

Speaking on the party, he said, his party the All Peoples Congress, APC, has a workable blueprint and sound road map to deliver good governance, equitable dividends of democracy to the good people of the area.

Advising the people in the area, he encouraged them to ensure a better and robust unity within the entire districts both within and outside the political party stressing that this time is a time to network in close range to ensure victory in the forthcoming local government polls for the party which has been an instrument of raw dividends of democracy.

An agro private company, Spring Field Agro Limited warehouse situated at Madalla within the federal capital territory metropolis has been reportedly burgled on the 27 October 2020 by looters, hoodlums/youths and it was alleged that thousands of cartons of agro chemicals was carted away by the hoodlums.


One of the staff who revealed the information to Africa Security Investigation correspondent in Abuja elucidated that the management of the company have valued the carted away inventories and it was running into billions of nairas.


However, an eyewitness told our correspondent that the hoodlums came in with the notion that the warehouse was belonging to the government, anticipating that the stock was palliative.

The company which was established in the year 2002 by Kewalram-Chanrai Group, a multinational company based in Singapore, with extensive presence in West, East and Central Africa for the past over a century aimed at providing farm inputs to Nigerian farmers at affordable prices has employed over ten (10) thousand Nigerians.


In it’s Corporate and Social Responsibility,
the company offers Insecticides treated Mosquito Nets, which is one of the most effective method of preventing malaria.

The group also operates medical facilities in the North Eastern part of Nigeria for the benefit of the rural community.

The National Association of Development Journalists, NADEJ, has on Sunday presented a Pioneer Merit award to the General Overseer of Faith Arena Prophetic and Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Monday Patrick Agada as a GLOBAL ICON OF WOMEN EMPOWERMENT AND NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT.


The award presentation that took place at the church auditorium in Kuchida Across, Ushafa, Abuja was Indeed meritorious as the Prophet was descirbed by the members of the church as a philanthropist and a humanitarian clergyman.


The chief delegate of the team of delegates from NADEJ, Mr. Emmanuel Daudu, Managing Director, Africa Security Investigation while presenting the award stated that it is of great pleasure to discover through detailed research that Prophet Monday P. Agada have been consistent in contributing his quota towards the emergence of a better Nigerian and global Society.

"To us, your style of charity and pump-action for the survival of widows and orphans, is unequalled compared to the ratings of your contemporaries.

We also note your resolve, upon your call to serve in the Lord's vineyard as a Seer and Revelator, to sustain the firing power at destroying the agents and forces of darkness so as to depopulate the kingdom of Satan while populating God's Kingdom. We say kudos as we urge you to keep fit in this direction.


It is on account of the fact that you have contributed selflessly and consistently towards helping the government to develop our country in various sectors that we found you to be fit for this historic, aimed at encouraging you and your congregation to offer more society-friendly services".

Congratulating him, "we congratulate you for your credibility as a character, and originality of work which are the two qualities that combine to mark you out and to earn you this merit award", he said.


The recipient, Prophet Monday Agada reacting to the award presentation dedicated it to his lovely wife Mrs. Agada, his mother and the entire widows in the church, stressing that their prayers is really working for him. While making the statement, massive tears rolled down his cheeks retrospecting how his mother suffered with his siblings bringing them up after the death of their father who passed on at the early part of his life.
"I can feel the pains widows go through, I can feel the pains my mother went through bringing us up after the death of our father", he said shading tears as he nods his head uncontrollably.


At the end of the event, which was coupled with a birthday celebration of the recipient, widows went home with bags of rice, other food items and cash which was aimed at subsidising their sundry costs of transportation. It was disclosed that over fifty (50) of them turned out to be beneficiaries.
