You don't seem to understand where I'm coming from. Having a carryover is very normal thing, when I was a student I had carryovers in some cases, it's very normal and somewhat healthy too. Anyway, I wasn't referring to all that.
No matter what you say this time around, I'd remain mute onward.
Having a carryover is normal and healthy. You must be joking...

I'm a computer engineering student in 100 lvl and the first semester results were released, I was shocked to see a 3.82 with D in 2 courses, both 3 units.

I can swear I wrote nothing less than a 4.2, pls help me I'm so confused right now. I've cried and cried but my result remains same.

Can I ever gradate with a first class?

Cc lalasticlala richiez
Someone posted something similar to yours I think yesterday or so and I'll repeat what I told him... It's not too late, this is just 1 out of 10 semesters.. you still have 9 more semesters left to make up for this. Sometimes your result may not turn out the way you expect it to be, it shouldn't make you give up....It should only motivate you to work harder. Always aim for a 5.0 so even if you don't get it, you'll get something close to it

yeah. I want to ask, like in my school ,everyone Is a jacker, they spend more than 6 hours a day reading, but in the end, first class students are always less. In some department, not more than 3 self or just 1 or 2.
what is the secret key to first class that some student don't know ?
I believed there are first class student on this forum ,pls tell us ur secret .
Let me say "Natural Brilliance" is one. That aside, it's not just about reading for 6 hours... I can tell you I barely read for up to 3 hours a day (apart from Incourse and Exam periods) , there are days I don't even read due to laziness. But when I am, I make sure I focus all my attention on my books within this short period of reading without any distractions(one of the reasons I hate reading around people). And don't follow the crowd. Just because you see all your mates going for Overnight(Night reading) doesn't mean you should, try to understand yourself and know what works best for you. For me, I assimilate faster Early in the morning. I can tell you I've never done Night reading, I'll end up not assimilating or dozing off. Also, don't depend on past questions for an exam. I'm not saying you shouldn't practice past questions, you just have to be prepared for all circumstances. You don't want to end up being disappointed when the questions are changed. You also need to understand your lecturers and the way they want their questions to be answered, some will want you to write what they gave you word for word, some expect you to write your own view/opinion or write something extra, others may expect you to do both (never depend on what the lecturer gives in class alone). But I do both most of the time just to be on a safer side...
Always aim for A no matter how tough the course is, anything apart from A is an enemy of first class(If I can put it that way) grin
This is just a summary of all I have to say

Please fellow nairalanders I need help. I got a result I never bargained for in my year one, I'm a student of chemical engineering in Unizik, after my mat101 exam I was filled with fear because I didn't write well which was all my fault, though I read but I was overconfidence that year one is not that difficult only to meet the shock of my life in my exams.
Now the results have started coming out with FEG101 and MaT101. I just checked mine expecting to see at least B in FEG101 only to see FEG101 E and MAT101 F and these are 2 and 3 credit loads respectively.
As it stand now I have not been myself, I vowed to myself to leave this school with at least 2.1but now it's as if that plan has been shattered, I feel I have disappointed myself and my family, I couldn't imagined starting badly like this, I feel ashamed and confused, I have been thinking on what to do to correct this mess..
Please nairalanders, can I still get a good grade? If yes what should I do? I need your advice, I can't afford to leave this school with anything less than 2.1.
The FEG result is still a mystery to me because I wrote very well, seeing this kinda results have put fear in me about those not yet out..
If you had similar experience and later graduated well please tell me how you did it. I'm ready to correct my mistakes...thank you and God bless you

Please mods help a brother
This shouldn't get you scared, it should motivate you to work harder. You still have about 9 semesters left out of 10, so it's not too late... Try to identify where mistakes had been made and try to work on them.Try to put in more effort in your studies and I believe you can do it.

Couple of questions please

So no need for jamb?
Will waec combination matter?
How many subjects are written during this program?
Yeah, there's no need for UTME. But you'll need to get the jamb DE form during/after the programme....

WAEC combination matters....

3 Subjects are written. but each of these subjects will be broken down into 4 and 2 of each will be taken per semester to make up 6 courses for that semester . Eg. Biology will be broken down into Cell biology, Botany, Microbiology and Zoology.

But they'll combine everything during the final JUPEB exam
Education › Re: How To Use UNILAG University Based Email by davbravo(m): 8:49am On Jun 07, 2018
SamySamy123:
The University Of Lagos (UNILAG) Student Email, is one of those tentative ways through which the University disseminate vital information to its students. The UNILAG Students Email also allow students to access Microsoft Office365 and all its benefits. No doubt, this is really a great job by the school management. However, many students have complained that they are unable to activate and use their email, because the process is too perplexing. For this reason, I made this tutorial to help students who are convoluted, activate their UNILAG Students Email. So, lets get going!

To activate your UNILAG Email, follow the steps below:

1. Vist portal.office.com on your browser (You can do this using your personal computer or smart phone).

2. Input your email in the space provided. (Note, your email will be in this format "matricnumber@live.unilag.edu.ng" e.g 100456@live.unilag.edu.ng).

3. Input your password in the space provided (Password is Unilag with the last 5digits of students matric number. e.g Unilag00456).

Note: After Step 3, you will be logged in to your email. However, it is important to know that your account is not totally secured except you change your default password word.

4. To secure your account from getting harked, choose any password of your choice; which must consist of all or any two in the bracket (character, uppercase, lowercase and numbers).

5. Confirm your password by repeating the same password you typed previously and click on "SEND".

The only alternative is a Change of course/Institution. she won't be admitted without further maths. And if you consider a COC, make sure the course she changes to suits her Jamb combo, or she changes her institution to one that doesn't require further maths

the recent 300L students that crossed over to the clinical stage were just 75 out of over 150 initially. The lowest CGPA was 3.0
They think studying MLS is so easy. I know people with CGPA above 4.0 out of 5 that already have an extra year cos they failed 1st prose which is a prerequisite for 2nd prose....

bmlsbmls:
I so much doubt this information. Here at lautech, there's nothing like carryover in the department. Once a student gets an F grade in any course, he/she automatically repeats that level. Back then in 100L days, over 20 students had to cross out because of one F grade
Same at UNILAG, any student that has a single Carryover from 100l will not be allowed to cross to College of medicine

My guy go and rest, haba now. I know a Lab science students who kept packing carry overs like a military medal. She eventually managed to finish. I have to contact with her, but I am sure she'll be somewhere agitating for parity with Doctors. My guy, try and rest. Lab science is not a course. Nobody, except academically deficient or couldn't meet up medicine or pharmacy or is afraid of failing picks up that course. Congrats u are one, but doesn't make it a sort after course in anyway. 5year of academic mediocrity, now seeking for 6.
Very funny.... MLS is a sort after course, you can confirm that from the statistics on jamb's portal, only a few end up making it to College of Medicine(about 50 of us here in UNILAG) and barely half of this number end up graduating when they're meant to , to show that it's not as simple as you make it sound. I don't know of other schools, but the pass mark for all courses here is 50 apart from 100l courses(premedical year) and as I said before, they don't graduate 3rd class(CGPA below 2.5) here, such a person will end up being withdrawn. I chose MLS as my first and only choice and I can tell u I'm not academically deficient, same with majority of my course mates. I don't know why you're trying to belittle this course, what do you gain in doing all these. Healthcare is all about team work, None of us can do it alone.

Do they fail out of MLS. How cowardly. Even a mediocre student will at least get a 3rd class and move on.
You're wrong.... There's no 3rd class in MLS.... anyone with a CGPA below 2.5 will be withdrawn

davbravo can advice me cause you also did the program.
A lot has changed since when I did mine in 2014/2015....

1st, there's no accommodation. You have to sought that out yourself....you can rent a room/apartment outside the School or stay in a private hostel (such as Emerald which is close to the school main gate)...It all depends on what you can afford... If you have a family or friend around, you can always stay with them.... so it's your Choice to make..

Got the form 25k...

I paid 25k (Acceptance fee)

357k(tuition)
[you can pay by installment]

25k(jupeb fee), etc

Don't know if it's still the same, but you should budget around 400-500k...

And as someone suggested earlier, you can go to the Foundation office to make your enquires...

what else do you want to know and have you gotten the form?
Health › Re: A Course Not Found In The Curriculum:They Ruined Our Team by davbravo(m):
Skyken99:
#THEY_RUINED_OUR_TEAM
NB: Long post

When we were admitted into the university, some of us were in Nursing Sciences, Optometry, Medical Laboratory Science, Medicine and Surgery, Physiotherapy, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Radiology etc.

We were subjected to general studies (GST,GSS).
We were taught by mathematicians, Education teachers, physicists and philosophers.

Since they knew little or nothing about the slight differences in our course of study, they addressed us by a general name: Medical and Health Sciences.

We made friends amongst one another.

" What's your department? " I'd asked.

" Nursing sciences. "

" Wow! I 'm in Medicine and Surgery. Meet my friend, she's in Pharmacy."

That way, we became bound by the cords of friendship, and we read at the Medical Laboratory Science block.
We had one common goal: to pass our exams.

We put our heads together in solving the past questions for that semester.

Bunmi my Pharmacist friend, was good at Mathematics.
Ekene the Nursing guy, was a wizard in Chemistry.
I loved Biology, and Ahmed my Optometry friend taught us Physics.

Together, we solved the past questions, taught and complimented each other.
Now towards our third Year in school, things started to go sour, and South. Bunmi would pass and just wave. Ekene barely would talk to me, and whenever Ahmed picked my calls, I 'd feel like I owed God a testimony.

Each of us had the key to our respective classes and we locked them against every other student that wasn't in our department. The center could no longer hold - things fell apart:

" They should have considered it a privilege to be associated with me."

" Oh, I didn't tell you? "

Towards our third year in school, we had new lecturers with entirely different mindsets , behaviors and speech. They were our seniors in the profession.
They'd availed themselves so we could be taught.

Pharmacists taught the Pharmacy students.
Doctors taught the student Doctors.
Scientists taught the student Scientists.
Matrons taught the student Nurses.

Every thing went fine, until we were introduced to a strange course; a course not found in the curriculum. But we learnt it. It was injected into us, and it went straight into our heads and our minds absorbed them.
They were injections of words.

We were told to uphold our disciplines with great esteem and never to accept any humiliation from anybody.

They told us that we were superior to other departments. Student laboratory scientists were told that without the laboratory, the hospital is handicapped. The Nursing students were told that they were indispensable. The student Doctors were told that they were general overseers. The Pharmacists assumed the appellation ; Bedrock of Medical Practice.

These may not be entirely false, but the next words injected in us triggered the hatred, ego rise and envy.
We were told of how other departments in the same medical field hated us; of the need to stand up and uphold the fight because other departments are jealous of ours and wants to humiliate us. We were told that medical doctors were arrogant and hence we'd give them no room for such display. We were told that nurses were insulting, hence, all relationships with them should be kept at a highly official level and with great consciousness of our ego; that the medical laboratory scientists were poke - nosing into our territory, so we must annihilate them as possibly as we can.
We were taught to esteem our ego and defend our profession against our 'foes' in the same field.

No wonder we now feel insecure amongst ourselves - the injection really worked.

Sadly, as I bleed in my heart writing this, I recalled our first years, when our minds were like virgins. We were together and we all had one mind and one goal - The Exam.

Now we are faced with a bigger goal - The patient.

But, we aren't together.

So,

How can we Pass?

They've ruined our team.
