Ironsi's unitary system still kept the regions the only exceptions is that they will be under the control of a provincial administrator. Also he centralized the civil service. But Gowon repealed it and in place brought a decree that split the regions into states. So in hindsight it was Gowon and not Ironsi that brought the under development because of the splitting of regions into states.

Just Google Oil and gas fields in Nigeria, you will start noticing that some onshore areas with many oil fields produce very little.

How can a state like Imo with over 100 wells not produce over 100kBPD yet the state is littered with Pipelines leading to Bonny.

As it stands today, each individual ethnic group in SS will negotiate and dialogue with ibos of they are exiting nigeria.

Ethnicity in Africa is very strong bond which comes alive during issues.

For SS, every group have a different interest.
Someone in Benin clearly doesn't have same interests as someone in bakassi in cross river,
Someone in oil bayelsa doesn't have same interest with a non oil producing area in Northern cross river.

Geography and economy will be a determining factor in every ethnic group in SS will relate with ibos.


Lemme give you an example, ibo community are very supportive of Ambazonia movement in a bid for bakassi peninsula to rejoin Biafra,
