mrvitalis: Onitsha? Nope there is no Much potential
But down that river close to the tripod between Rivers, IMO and Anambra it's a wonderful spot for a port
The 3 states can come together and build a river port that would take container from Bonny
Rivers state need a deep sea port in either Bonny or opobo...
The best place for port on South East remain Abia
It's strategically located
Negotiate we akwa ibom... Their aluminium smelting company on ikot abasi closed because of lack of dredging of that River
So dredging would benefit Abia, river and akwa ibom What's exactly location?..the community I mean Secondly a port in onitsha mustn't be at the current location. Somewhere before the 2nd Niger bridge is idle for me. |

Lagos is such positioned that nearly all industries bosses are positioned (finance, oil, gas, production, etc). And these are the real market force that buys these product. Talking about Lagod positioning..... i find this quite funny Onitsha, Aba and Nnewi has geo-economic advantages over Lagos especially calculating cost and distance. A Manufacturer/Merchant in Aba Nnewi Onitsha has advantage to reach a customer in Edo ,Warri, portharcourth,Calabar, Abuja, North Central, and Core North faster. I know distributors in A.N.O who send goods to Chad, Niger, Cameroon(where I base),Equatorial Guinea ,Gabon and Central Africa Republic and Congo....mainly in luxurious in buses. The issue is that traditionally, Yoruba hardly demolish family houses since its most probably that their parents were buried there, so the houses becomes monument. And usually, younger generations goes to new areas for development. Secondly there are a lot of farm settlement that have grown in nos, these settlements have main towns to which they are attached. By the way where in Ondo did you visit, Ondo town or Ondo State, if Ondo State, which town? Bros you dey make me laugh. The major reason brown roofs and mud houses exist in my areas is due to low social mobility. I remember when some young men from my area started doing business in Aba and Onitsha....today villages are having new looks. The Yorubas are known to produce academicians
The Hausas feed the nation.
All that's is left is a good government and a good mindset from we the governed.
We have to appreciate our uniqueness and diversity. Let's remember that our beauty lies in our diversity.

From school enrollment,to child education to female literacy, Jamb ,WAEC .....I don't see typical Yoruba States leading. If you feel your progress and future as a man will be secured seeking alliance with others then good for you.

Yorubas are not looking to famz, fight or harm anyone. We have simply concluded that people being able to independently decide their own pace and scale of development in their own geographical space should be sacrosanct today.

You have mentioned this "Lagos screaming go back to your region" issue several times but you need to look within yourself and tell us when this has ever applied to anyone other than Igbos who deliberately take it upon themselves to fight, demean and alienate their host with divisive antics knowing such behaviour will only gain negative responses alone.
Have you ever screamed "Yoruba Moslem" to divide Yorubas as Igbos love doing? If not, why are you so bothered about the reaction such repellent behaviour from Igbos is gaining today from the Yorubas?
Are we Yorubas alone in our behaviour or have Ghanaians, South Africans, Indians, Indonesians, Kenyans, Zimbabweans etal , after far less provocation, not dished out worse to Igbos?
If in Ghana on holiday or for work/business in future then begin beefing Ghanaians, as you seem obsessed to do against Yorubas, for bouncing Igbos from their market rather than jejeli enjoying yourself safe in the knowledge that Igbos alone should deal with whatever repercussion arises from their covetous arrogance, disrespect and hate towards other in their own land.
No Yoruba has any problem with SS, Middle belt or even Northerners today and currently. We have no problem with them living with us in the SW.
Our problem is with Igbos and how they wish to drag with us in our land as if they can defeat us.. This is because, fundamentally, Igbos want to dominate everyone everywhere.
They do not and will never respect boundaries as other Nigerians, including SS folks, do. In Yorubas they have met their match and even superior.
The quickest way to be unfortunate in life is to carry another man's wahala on your own head rather than let them answer for their misdeeds alone.
Show me where Yorubas have ever threatened SS folks to justify your stance today. Also, prove how just and fair-minded you are as a person if you cannot see Igbo wrongdoing and the consequent negative reaction such gains worldwide today. You wrote something nice but strangely Yorubas don't see SS as friends or treated better than Igbos. An average person in SW sees anyone beyond Ore as omo-ibo.
