generally one does not use a missile which costs at least 1.5 million dollars per missile ( for the S400 system) to intercept little MLRS rockets . Even for the Buk systems it would be too expensive and not really effective .

Also very light for high mobility, so after a quick launch which takes like 5 minutes max, you move to a new position.... But mlrs due to its weight, it launch period is just 5-10 minutes notwithstanding the processes beforehand and also moving can be very slow due to its weight even though it's tired(8 minimum) or tracks.
